The Club at Mapledurham

Fantastic experience: Lovely friendly gym. Recently refurbished with top of the range equipment in the gym and really good swimming pool. Two large studios offering a wide range of classes.

Negative experience: ***Proceed with caution. Read the contract before you start your direct debit payments to The Club Company*** clause 3.17.2. The Club Company may at any time, without penalty, withdraw all or part of its facilities for any period with or without notice in connection with any unforeseen circumstances or any reasonable repair, alteration, cleaning maintenance work or similar reason deemed necessary for the safe operation of the club. I have fallen fowl of this clause and the attitude of the general manager Wendy who prefers to set debt collection agencies onto you instead of responding to emails and phone calls. I do not believe it is reasonable for this clause to be included in any subscription based service contract.

Fantastic experience: I recently had the pleasure of experiencing Mapledurham Club with a free guest pass, and as a gym enthusiast, I was thoroughly impressed. The seamless combination of a top-notch gym facility followed by a refreshing swim in their pristine pool, and culminating with the relaxation of their steam and sauna amenities, left me feeling rejuvenated and invigorated. The overall experience was nothing short of great, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comprehensive wellness destination.

Positive experience: I joined this gym yesterday and for the premium prices I was a little bit disappointed in the reception staff attitude. I joined online and when I arrived at the gym I was handed a ‘welcome pack’ - that was it. No idea what to do with the card, key ring thing, or where things were. I was a member 7 years ago but things do change etc. Staff didn’t offer to show me around or ask if I needed help. I was made to feel as if I was bothering them by asking where to tap the club card etc. The actual gym and PTs inside the gym area were very friendly and welcoming. They helped with my questions as I navigated the gym as a ‘new’ member. However, the cardio machines didn’t work and required an App or USB key, I asked reception who were very dismissive saying “just use the app” - perhaps a little guidance or offering to help as I was using the app but it wasn’t working. The facilities are clean and up to date. But it’s the feeling of being dismissed within 5 minutes of entering the club that stays with you. As a ‘new’ member, it wasn’t very welcoming at the front door - but it was the warm welcoming attitudes of the PTs that give the 3 stars.

Positive experience: Good local gym with pool and café bar to relax. Golf club too. The club is currently being refurbished. Spin studio is just adequate

Negative experience: I'm sorry this place needs a major overhaul, retrain the people please!..... Poor golf course, poor staff attitudes and car park great place to get your car scratched. Never going back

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed in both the course, just no challenge at all plis the friends who went to the gym said it wasn't clean and the food we had was just plain poor quality and tasteless - for me there are far better places nearby to go to. I don't know why people are paying the prices membership here is charging. They try hard but it's not good enough to warrant the fees.

Fantastic experience: Quality gym. Had the right balance of weights, cardio and other pieces of equipment. Clean and good changing facilities. Sauna after the workout defo hit the spot. Friendly staff, who were on hand but not pushy. My kind of place. Very impressed.

Fantastic experience: Played golf here last Sunday and have to say really enjoyed it. Course is shorter than I’m used with a par 69 for 18. Couple of challenging holes, but all round a great course for the money. To top it off, great leisurely swim in 17.5metre pool and relax in sauna and steam. Will definitely come back. Had a lovely day

Fantastic experience: Great gym. The Wellness Key system really helps with my workouts tracking it and helping set up each workout. Also get regular reviews by the gym team (Adam, Gintas, Charlie, Eddie and Dakota) who are all so friendly. The bar staff are great too, making a quality latte to leisurely drink in the relaxing cafe/restaurant. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: This is a badly run gym and golf complex. Your car gets bashed in the car park and they do nothing. The gym is in my view unclean and the team running it poorly trained. No one likes staff staring at you in a workout it's uncomfortable and unsuitable for women. Avoid this place

Positive experience: Course hard to follow as signage of holes poor. Long walk between holes confusing. Food below standard, chips ect cold.

Fantastic experience: Welcoming and friendly staff with a well looked after course.

Positive experience: A lovely well set up course with quality greens and good fairways. It's a short course with some tricky holes that you have to think about. Nice reception and club house. Only downside is the bar doesn't serve alcohol before 12 noon. I will definitely play there again.

Fantastic experience: I would recommend the club at Maple Durham to anybody displays caters for the elderly young children toddlers they have the facility for everyone also they have an excellent restaurant that serves some of the best healthiest food you could get with a fair price the sauna steam room and Jacuzzi and swim pool are just the right temperature and always cleaning is kept on top from the moment you walk in staff are very friendly very respectful ready and willing to communicate and help well done staff at the club at Maple Durham thank you from me and my wife and kids Keep the good work up

Fantastic experience: An excellent Club conveniently located just outside Caversham Heights with ample free parking. The staffs are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The place looks immaculately clean and extremely well managed. Among various activities are golf and swimming with a friendly bar and welcoming lounge. It’s definitely a place to belong to!

Negative experience: Expensive for what it is! And they put the prices up every single January!! Small, smelly gym with basic equipment. Small pool that is overrun by kids between 3.30-6pm and most of the weekend! Spa facilities basic and tiny and often not working. Cafe used to be really nice but service is diabolical and the food is awful these days. With mounting competition in the local areas, they really need to up their game.

Fantastic experience: This is a brilliant place for Golf. It also has a well equipped gym with spinning classes and many other classes for fitness.

Fantastic experience: Aga at the Beauty Room at the Mapledurham Club is great at nails and I had a wonderful luxury pedicure with her this week. She always makes me feel incredibly relaxed and comfortable, and her nail painting is second to none! Highly recommended- thank you.

Positive experience: Standard Christmas office party fare. ..nothing outstanding...tables were cramped little room to move around or in between them. Small dance floor...not much bigger than an average sized living room floor.......Felt sorry for staff that were serving at the bar and the X'mas meals! Lovely setting on another occasion ie wedding maybe....

Negative experience: Reception staff very unhelpful and rude on the phone, they need to consider what their job is. Obviously more interested in themselves and 'rules is rules' attitude than customer relations and customer care. The treatment room is small and cramped. I would not go here again!
