Riverside Hotel Kendal: Opinions
Negative experience: Very tired room pay a lot to stay here then to found out leisure facilities closed no concessions offered like free breakfast will not reccomend very disappointed
Positive experience: Our first holiday in the Lake District was unfortunately ruined! Due to the facilities in the hotel, not being available to us. As a former house keeper of over 15 years of experience, I'm not convinced that these rooms get cleaned to the highest standards. This is due to the fact that my room had cobwebs in the corners, I found a used hair bobble on the floor, a used tissue in the blanket which was from the wardrobe, the light shade had clumps of dust on it, lastly, the tap for the bath had grime all in it! The town itself, was totally child unfriendly when it came to eating in the evening. Eventually, paying London prices for a Lasagne and Pasta, which was cold within minutes. Unless you want to eat in a café, then you are hard pushed to find anything different. We were only there for 48 hours and we had spent £700 (including the hotel) with nothing to show for it. The town is just full of cafés and pubs, there's not many restaurants. There's not even a souvenir shop! On the morning of departure, we thought we'd be able to stay in the bistro with a coffee that was closed, however, we couldn't even use the luggage facility, due to the staff having a Christmas party that afternoon, no facilities were available, as they were closing that afternoon. So we felt in that instance we were effectively being pushed out of the building, as quickly as they could. On top of this, every train from Kendal was cancelled on the Sunday, especially with no replacement bus service. If it wasn't for a fellow local person helping us out, we'd be stranded on the side of the road, with a 2 year old in the cold. The train station is unmanned, so no assistance is available whatsoever. We had spoken to a local businessman about the travel here in Kendal, and they mentioned that it was renowned for it's poor travel service. Lastly, all these factors combined together, made a 3 day stay, quite distressing and unenjoyable, especially with a 2 year old. No wonder no one travels to the north, if this is the standard that is set. As The Smiths said 'Its grim up north'. We will definitely not be visiting this part of the country again!
Fantastic experience: Amazing place that was my second time and will come back again and again the place is in a very good spot near train and bus stations , room was very clean and nice , had a great time here
Thank you for your lovely review,
Negative experience: I made an online reservation and needed to amend it to a later date due to a change in work schedule. I did an online amendment and no one got back to me to confirm or deny. I called up and explained and the friendly young lady on the phone informed me that they can amend the booking but I still have to pay the full price. I had missed the free change by 12 hours. Keeping in mind I was moving to a later date and from weekend to weekday, not cancelling, their policy of keeping the full amount is nothing short of disgusting excessive greed. Britain has become a money grabbing place and this is a class example of the kind of practice unnecessarily taking money out of people’s pockets unfairly. Just because it’s policy, doesn’t make it justifiable.
Fantastic experience: Maybe the best location in town! Very close to the train station, restaurants, bars and shopping. Beautiful traditional hotel with comfortable beds, nice baths, an exercise center and pool, amazing river views, and openable windows! Very quiet, even with the window open. A school is across the river and the distant sounds of birds and laughing children greeted us the first morning. No air conditioning in the rooms, but a fan in front of the window kept the interior temperature cool enough and provided fresh air. The Tannery bar at the hotel provided great food and drinks on the beautiful riverside deck.
Positive experience: Nice hotel but ridiculously noisy due to nearby building works. That start at 9am. Totally ruined stay
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful hotel. Rooms clean spacious and with great amenities. The location is perfect. You are next to an old bridge on the river. I can’t imagine staying somewhere else in Kendal if I’d go back.
Negative experience: Awful experience : doesn't offer any tastecard discount on Sundays but it's well written on tastecard and they are still insisting starting that the offer is not valid even if I told them that it's clearly written on Tastecard.
Fantastic experience: Being renovated at the moment. Summer 2024. Lovely hotel new rooms are the best. Old rooms need TLC. Bar and gym great. Fabulous location in the middle of Kendal
Fantastic experience: Clean tidy and nice location, good choice at breakfast
Thank you for your lovely review,
Fantastic experience: Great place with a nice view and customer service
Thank you #mojo for your lovely review.
Fantastic experience: I've stayed here with my wife absolutely satisfied really good location staff are outstanding never had any issues what so ever. Had evening meal again staff could not do enough for us felt really welcome and food was delicious. Thank you team .Think if you see bad reviews not saying ignore them but you must try the place yourselves before giving judgement.
Thank you so much for your lovely 5 star review, we are pleased you had a most enjoyable stay with us,
Negative experience: I read the reviews before we went so was looking forward to my holiday. So was very disappointed and shocked when we got there. The room was clean and had everything I needed. But very little staff, when asked questions, didn't know the answer. Food well less said about that!!!!! Breakfast not too bad as you could see what you were having. Quality of food 'very cheap'. Evening meals one word only. DISGUSTING. Worse than School dinners I had 60 years ago. We were a coach trip, the company have a great reputation and I have never had a worry before. Restaurant staff were so unfriendly, treated us as second class people. Our Manager had a word but though some of them tried it was so false. Never had a lounge or bar, fancy doing repairs in the summer. Sure a building that size had a room they could have turned into a temporary lounge. Table cloths coving the dirty marked tables would have helped to make us feel better about the so called food. Never had to write anything like this before.
Positive experience: A rather nice 3 star hotel with river views.
Thank you for your lovely review,
Positive experience: The hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from the station so very convenient for that which was great for what I needed but that means it's a little further into the heart of Kendal. The room was a very good size and overlooked the river which was pleasant but the view was just the opposite street. Food and service were OK but not really up to the aspiration set by the room prices
Positive experience: I’ve just stayed here for 2 nights: on the Friday and then I returned on the Sunday, so I had 2 separate rooms to review. I would stay again, but I have good and bad comments about my experience. On the Friday, I put my bags in the room and went straight to the restaurant. I ordered the Steak and Ale pie. The pie itself was nice, but the gravy that came in a little pot on the side was basically just brown water, and I was unable to eat the rest of my meal. During my meal, I was the only one in the restaurant, and the waiter was sat with 2 friends on another table, all eating crisps and drinking etc, it just made me slightly uncomfortable. When I asked to pay, I explained my issue with the food and how I was unable to eat anything other than the pie, and the waiter just said ‘sorry about that’ and took my payment. So I ended up walking into town to get something else to eat later on. When I returned to my room, the curtains didn’t close well at all, but it didn’t impact me too much as I was out of the room for 6am the following morning. When I returned the following day, I had the same issue with the curtains, and the light woke me up quite often after sunrise. The housekeeper also let herself into my room at 10am, even though checkout wasn’t until 11am. But on both nights, I had a genuinely good sleep because the bed was so comfortable. The tea and coffee making facilities were great. The rooms were clean. Great spa facilities. The location is brilliant.
Fantastic experience: 20th anniversary 60th birthday celebrations Very attentive great staff Great food Great location. We saw otters
Positive experience: On the river. Place now closing for about 8 weeks for a refurb
Positive experience: Great location right on the river. Rooms are a decent size with large beds but are slightly outdated missing upgrades like chargers next to the beds. Staff were hit and miss some were amazing some were less welcoming.
Fantastic experience: Nice place situated next to the river Kent. Good points decent room. Good views from riverside rooms. Nice staff. clean. no noise. warm.bar.resturant.nice selection at breakfast. easy walk to town centre. parking , first come basis depending what room you have the stairs might be a problem for some less mobile people but there are chair lifts and lifts to aid . update... on second visit the bar area has been renovated and what a difference. not completed yet but oh yes lovely. staff so brilliant .a big thankyou to making our stay a brilliant one. one day I get to use the pool and gym. some decent places to eat in town but read the reviews before going. the eat Indian I wanted to try but got put off by the reviews but I will go next time. booths have a huge range of local beers . stunning display. visit 19 wine bar and masons kendal is a nice place to have a relaxing few days and even use as a base . _______________________________________________
Thank you for your lovely review,
Positive experience: We stayed here for 4 nights. We are a family of 4. 2 adults and 2 kids. Positives: + Great location, short walk from the town center & station + Covered free parking! A big plus if you’re driving down + Swimming pool and sauna was awesome! We went to the pools every evening & the kids loved it. Plus with day long walks, it was a welcome break and a great way to retire for the evening. + Breakfast was good. You get the full classic English breakfast + In-house restaurant and Pub are quite nice. + The staff are super friendly. Negatives: - We paid a high rate. I’ve stayed in 5 stars for those rates. Book really early. - Hotel could do with an update.
Positive experience: Very comfortable stay in this friendly hotel. Good service , great breakfast and I shall return!
Fantastic experience: Great pool and sauna. Very enjoyable stay.
Negative experience: Lots of potential here but not sure that it will be taken. Rooms needed minor repairs that would have taken little money and less time to resolve. Breakfast needs major improvements, hot water for tea barely warm, food on hot plates not covered on day one so food was cold and unpleasant. Marginally better on day two. Tables were set well, but sadly crockery and cutlery were stuck to the sticky tables. Some of the staff were lovely others really resented being there on an Easter weekend and didn’t mind showing that. House keeping do a good job keeping the place clean. Parking is very close and free. Gym needs some attention especially the extraction fans. Will not be our first choice when staying in Kendal again sadly ,but Kendal was lovely as usual.
Positive experience: Excellent hotel with perfect location for Kendal and into the lakes. Fantastic facilities on offer. Families are welcome and good value.
Thank you for your lovely review,
Fantastic experience: From booking to front desk staff top drawer had ground floor room which had you sat just yards from the river.room was clean and smart about to try breakfast but overall brilliant
Fantastic experience: I stayed at the Riverside in Kendal while visiting a colleague/friend who relocated back to England some years ago. I loved the trip to Cumbria (by train) and found my stay at the Riverside to be most enjoyable, which was an unexpected bonus. Very comfortable room, clean and good bedding and towels, bathroom amenities. The breakfast was very decent and the Chef made me good basic hot porridge upon request, which was great. Plus, the breakfast room overlooks the River Kent, which is truly a beautiful river. Most of all, the Reception and general hotel staff were excellent. For me, it still is about the 'human touch and experience' at accommodations when traveling. Yes, I love IT and technology, but nothing replaces the professionalism, helpfulness and kindness of good staff. I'd love to visit Cumbria again, Kendal included, and I'd love to stay at the Riverside again.
Positive experience: First time stopping. Was for Girl friends birthday. Pleasant stay. Had tea here Saturday night after arriving. There are other restaurants and pubs nearby, about 15 min walk. Food and service were good. The table could have been wiped before eating. Ask for a riverside view when booking as this shows by my pictures. The breakfast rm has great views over looking the river. There is outside eating, assuming this will be in the summertime. We stayed in rm 109, which was good. Warning: Water can get hot. Car parking facilities were great. Arrive in good time for a parking space. There is a gym and swimming pool on site, didn't use as only here for 1 night. Would I stay again possibly yes. Great location into town centre. 10 min walk away. Kendal Castle is 15 min walk.
Fantastic experience: Food, staff and rooms excellent. Great location on the River Kent and in centre of Kendal. 2nd time staying and would stay again
Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel if a little quirky being a former tannery. Food good. Staff lovely. Everywhere spotless. Swimming pool, fitness suite, sauna etc.
Positive experience: Nice pool Bit on the pricey side to use facility’s for locals
Fantastic experience: I loved it. Shame I didn't have time fir the pool or gym as too busy playing outside In the beautiful Autumn coloured Lake District
Fantastic experience: Loved this location. Excellent river view, and Kendal has such a lot to offer
Fantastic experience: Could be a real gem if owners were to invest in refurbishing the hotel. It’s still a very clean hotel, but just looks dated.
Positive experience: Room was nice enough, clean if a little dated (the shower head looked manky and needs changing), nice big comfy bed and pillows, for the price point a wee fridge would have been handy. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and great choice. Great location for exploring the town.
Fantastic experience: Stayed for one night with our doggie lovely stay.breakfast was bit dry but everything all ok
Fantastic experience: Enjoyed our staff, staff pleasant and helpful. Only concern, for me, use of glasses in bathroom. Dangerous with small children.
Positive experience: Monday 28th August I visited this pub on way back to station was a lovely place to drink nice staff and clients in The drawback was lack of real ale on only Hawkshead red on Been a ardent real ale drinker I was dissapointed with this So as such, only 4 stars given every ring else good
Fantastic experience: A lovely hotel, attentive staff and nice atmosphere. Excellent location for the town without the noise of the centre
Positive experience: Ideally located in Kendal, close to the shops. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, being part of a coach party evening menu was limited, breakfast was good. Room was very nice.
Fantastic experience: Having recently stayed for five nights at the Riverside Hotel Kendal, I can confidently say it was an experience that surpassed all my expectations. Every meal was an absolute delight, freshly prepared and never once a disappointment. The steak and ale pie stood out particularly, full of rich, hearty flavours. It was a joy to discover that they graciously accepted our Tastecard every night, allowing us to indulge in 2-4-1 meals - a generous gesture that truly enhanced our dining experience. The rooms were exceptional, spacious and immaculately maintained, offering a perfect retreat after our daily outings. The thoughtful touches of plenty of biscuits and tea bags added to the homely and warm atmosphere. But the Riverside Hotel is more than just its food and rooms. The spa room was a highlight of our stay. We had the pleasure of enjoying the hot tub, jacuzzi, and swimming pool, which provided us with a wonderful relaxation experience. The true gem of Riverside Hotel, though, is Henry, the bar manager. His charisma and upbeat personality created a palpable positive vibe throughout the hotel. An Elvis fan at heart, his lively energy was reminiscent of the King himself, bringing an extra sparkle to our stay. While it's sad to hear that he'll be leaving the hotel, he undoubtedly leaves behind a legacy of great customer service and unforgettable memories. If you're considering a stay in Kendal, I wholeheartedly recommend the Riverside Hotel. It's not just a hotel, it's a complete experience - great food, superb rooms, a fabulous spa, and the most welcoming staff. Don't miss out on the opportunity to create your own memories here!!
Fantastic experience: Super location for our trip to Kendal, this is the 2nd time we have stayed at this hotel and it never disappoints
Fantastic experience: Apparently this hotel is ranked as a 3 star? Stay here for a night and it's like living in luxury. Rooms look out onto the river. Had a drink or 2 on the verandah overlooking the river with the added bonus of heating overhead. ALL staff were extremely helpful and courteous. Complementary gym (within hotel) for residents. This hotel is well worth another visit. So summing up this hotel should have a ranking of 5 stars.
Fantastic experience: Cheap and cheerful but very comfy and clean fantastic base for sightseeing food amazing pool and gym, maybe next time would definitely recommend for the price
Positive experience: Lovely hotel. Rooms a bit dated but clean and very spacious. We were lucky enough to be given a suite which was a bonus. Dog friendly.
Positive experience: The hotel is 3 star in all of its aspects. There is loads of dust everywhere, you can see it floating is the air and there is spider web outside the windows. The food at the restaurant is mediocre at best (tomato soup clearly coming from a can) and the service matches it. The pool is dirty (human fluids and parts flow through the water). At least the sheets were (looked) clean. If you don’t have an alternative, it’s a place to spend the night..
Fantastic experience: We had a two night stay here, from the greeting at reception to our departure in with really excellent, breakfast was also delicious.
Fantastic experience: The location is excellent all the staff we came across were very helpful and polite rooms were very nice and a good breakfast overall our weekend stay here was everything we wanted thanks to all at the riverside hotel
Fantastic experience: Alana was great such a good and funny individual great stay would recommend to anybody stunning behaviour ey
Fantastic experience: Excellent atmosphere, beautiful breakfast restaurant with the most amazing calming views. Close proximity to all hiking paths and additional welcoming touches in the rooms which have made all the difference after being caught out in a torrential rain. The only place we didn't like was the pool and jacuzzi. They were not new and not very inviting
Fantastic experience: We stayed here for 5 days after Storm Arwen forced us to leave our home. The staff are amazing and we didn’t want to leave. Great swimming pool Dog friendly Fab Staff
Positive experience: Good location on the river and close to town. Lovely place to spend time with friends. My one complaint is that we ate in the restaurant which was nice but had a limited menu and, in my opinion, was expensive for what we were served. We were the only guests in the restaurant and it was it was a little on the chilly side so missing some atmosphere. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Breakfast seemed expensive at £12pp but turned out to be good value.
Fantastic experience: I accidentally left my handbag at the bar beginning of this week. The waiters who work there very kindly put it safely in their office. I cannot thank them enough for such amazing responsibility & trust I have put into them, even though it was an accident to leave it there. I am so very happy with them. I know they are fabulous people who work there also. A great team in a beautiful town. Thank you so very much.
Negative experience: Poor service and would not recommend with kids. Terrible communication. I would simply not recommend it. We have had so many great holidays in Kendal, and this was one of the worst because of the poor service and unprofessionalism of the hotel.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place great views from the hotel rooms, pool with sauna and steam room and gym.Very central.
Fantastic experience: Oh ! There is a nice Hotel with RiverSide view ! Relaxing and quiet. Nice servicing, good breakfast.
Fantastic experience: Absolute fabulous hotel to stay in. Spotlessly clean, great facilities, food lovely and staff friendly and helpful. Completely dog-friendly too!!
Fantastic experience: Just used the pool and facilities but all very good. Pool was warm. Steam room under some maintenance work but still working.
Positive experience: We use the spa & gym, it's always really nice. Friendly staff and nice bar/restaurant attached.
Fantastic experience: What a great place to stay in a wonderful hotel in a great town Great food, great beer. A fantastic leisure centre and wonderful staff
Fantastic experience: Good Parking,Easy Access,Friendly Staff,Spa and pool,Very clean and well equipped bedrooms.Breakfast excellent and the breakfast room over looks the river Kent, as well as a drinks balcony from the main bar.Very central for Kendal and the lakes.
Fantastic experience: We booked the Bellingham suite for my fiancées 50th birthday and once we arrived we knew we were in for a very nice stay and we were not disappointed one bit as the service we received was of a very high standard, the food was very nice, good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, nice swimming pool with steam room, sauna, hot tub and gym. As for the suite it was just out of this world with a lovely view of the river a stand alone bath, double shower and a massive bed,as for the staff they couldn't do anymore for you I would highly recommend using the Riverside Hotel for a break away in the lakes. We will definitely be returning.
Negative experience: The room was basic and a little cramped the food in the restaurant was terrible we ordered sirloin steaks both steaks were badly cooked and dry had to complain and they took them back and did not charge us also the soup they served was cold worst food I’ve had in a restaurant up to now
Positive experience: Stayed on a Coach Tour , this place is new to coach tours, an still needs a bit of Tweaking!! Staff very friendly and helpful , good central location for Kendal an surrounding areas !
Positive experience: Beautiful views of the river from our room which was a little dated but breakfast with room service was very nice. Meal in hotel was ok would stay again maybe eat out elsewhere
Positive experience: Nice surroundings and food, but latte still has washing up liquid in it, not safe to drink, very quiet on the river by the bridge on a Sunday afternoon.
Fantastic experience: Rooms excellent and great service, very well looked after
Positive experience: Went to the hotel to use their pool facilities while on holiday, nice staff and nice little pool for our daughter to have a splash around in,
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff, food is great. Breakfast is a must. Evening meals are very tasty and all cooked from scratch. Would definitely stay again!
Fantastic experience: We have enjoyed the weekend here. Good location and nice view to the river. Free gym and swimming pool it's a bonus. Standard English breakfast but we couldn't complain about anything. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.
Negative experience: We stayed for one night. Hotel is very old and not maintained property. Restaurant staff was very unfriendly and picked up buffet breakfast before closing time. Room had a damp smell inside and not even a fan inside bathroom. Was charged £25 for 2 year old to stay in family room and no facility for room service for child until 6pm.
Positive experience: Had a great stay, staff were great,we didn't eat here room was ok a bit dated bed comfy , central location..plus right next to jheel Indians wow tasty food ..yes would stay again
Negative experience: I was always taught if you can't say anything nice best not to say anything at all. So following that, the bed was comfy, the curtains were nice. The young barman who liked Elvis was brilliant. Kendal was interesting.
Negative experience: Very dated hotel, rooms lacked any real class and the peeling veneer on the door wood just summed up the place. If you have food allergies or intolerances the breakfast offerings are pretty poor. For its room cost per night I would say it’s very over priced, look around I’m sure you’ll find somewhere better.
Positive experience: Great little pool and sauna, friendly staff, parking right outside hotel. Would definitely come back again.
Fantastic experience: Good food, lovely staff very helpful, Ideal location, in the middle of the town. Fitness centre on site for those wanting a workout.
Positive experience: Not a bad hotel but looking a bit tired. Great view from rooms looking out on to the river. Staff seem helpful and the breakfast is decent.
Positive experience: Wonderful service , staff always ready but not hovering. Food good. Rooms excellent. Very dog friendly
Positive experience: Perfect location for access to Kendal. Sat outside with great view of the river. Most expensive round of drinks in town having been here a week. Food prices very reasonable. Did not stay at hotel so cannot comment on rooms.
Fantastic experience: Had a lovely stay with a group of friends. A great place to stay. They make you so welcome all the staff are so nice. Well recommended
Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant, only stayed for one night this time. Nothing is too much trouble, friendly staff and great facilities. A very good menu, just a shame we were not here longer to sample more... would recommend for sure.
Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel friendly staff great location near to town which has wonderful shops, coffee shops, bars and restaurants. Nice gym and spa in the hotel to use when all the walking has caused aching limbs and a great little bar restaurant offering tasty cross the board menu.
Fantastic experience: Made a group booking for four rooms and they very kindly got our rooms next to each other. The staff were super friendly and extremely dog friendly. The hotel was comfy and clean. Couldn’t ask for nicer dog friendly base for our stay Kendal and will certainly stay again in the future. I left my earrings in a bedside table and they were handed to reception by the cleaning staff and they kindly offered to post them back. Thanks for a great few days!
Fantastic experience: We went for a meal, it was fantastic to say the least, fresh and tasty. Staff very friendly. Pay it a visit if in the Kendal area, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff. Clean comfy Room. Huge bed. Views out over the river Kent and on to the Castle. Had a great time. Will be returning.
Positive experience: They were happy to accommodate a table of 5 on a Friday night despite not booking. Our children enjoyed the selections of games while we waited for our food which arrived promptly. The food was good although the mains we chose were a bit light on veg to go with them. Staff were nice and friendly.
Negative experience: Not really suitable for disabled people. Not wheelchair friendly as you can't get to restaurant without having to walk or down stairs..room wasnt very clean either.. we had to complain.
Positive experience: great place to stay just what was required. A little tired, but no complaints really.
Fantastic experience: One of the best hotels I have stayed in in the UK. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the hotel itself is beautifully set and laid out, with great amenities, the price is good value for money and the food is fantastic. Highly recommend staying here, it is great value for money and you will not regret it.
Positive experience: Nice place. Great staff, really friendly and obliging. Bedroom a little tight for space with extra chairs etc, but better that than none! Ensuite small but well fitted out. Ambience in Bistro could be improved with a different choice of music (!!). Pool superb, steam room is brilliant with menthol or eucalyptus infusing, spa is tops too. Overall experience? - great place to stay.
Negative experience: Hit or a miss with the food here, beef and ale pie & fish on first night here was really good. Steaks on second night grossly under cooked Reasonably priced food and drinks but won't be returning here.
Fantastic experience: Very decent stay. I went through the old reviews for this hotel and let me tell you they have rectified all the issues in the past. Spacious rooms, lovely staff and nice area too. You have cafes and restaurants including halal foods nearby. You can take an evening stroll around the hotel for a while through the old English town and be relaxed. The complimentary items in the rooms were really good.
Positive experience: The rooms are very spacious and clean but the food is overpriced.they still have covid regulations in place.
Negative experience: Rather antiquated building that requires bringing it into the real world. The staffing of the reception is awful to say the least. Sometimes there was no one at the reception desk. During covid the hotel stated that surfaces were being cleaned. But I saw none of this in the three days I was there. Certainly there was no cleaning in my room as that was left for you to do. Breakfast was offered in your room from 7am but had to be ordered the night before. The only good thing was it was in walking distance to the place I was working at.
Fantastic experience: I was in Kendal visiting a friend and we went here most evenings for a drink before dinner. Sat on the balcony and watched the river. The girl behind the bar was so helpful and pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. We'll worth a visit.
Fantastic experience: Lovely family room overlooking the river, staff are all so friendly and very welcoming, room service is incredibly fast, the lift was out of action one night, the waiter was puffed out when he delivered our drinks, 2 minutes after ordering!!!! Foods good, pool is good. Reccomend this hotel and would happily stay again.
Fantastic experience: Restaurant only used and rated: after a little difficulty making a booking by telephone, we got in late on Thursday and 3 of us enjoyed beautiful gammon mains - chosen independently, we just all fancied something we hadn’t had in a while. It was excellent, as was the setting in the Tannery bar, with it’s riverside balcony (although we sat inside). We only had drinks in addition, a combination of warm weather and generous main portions making that the wise if reluctant choice. Considering Lake District prices this summer, this was great value. There was hotel parking, which was free when we were there. Spaces were on the small side for getting in and out though! Oh, and it’s dog friendly, very important to us. Nice stroll along the riverside afterwards as darkness fell. It made for a lovely end to our holiday with just a short drive to our lodgings.
Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel. Good breakfast. (Extra) room comfortable and clean. Good COVID protocols (not everyone complying) Will be back!!
Positive experience: Decent business style hotel. Bed was comfortable. Enjoyed the balcony overlooking the river. I didn't have a chance to try any of the spa it sports facilities.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful place to stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were lucky enough to have a river facing room with fantastic scenery and even saw an otter one evening which made my week. The food was lovely, cannot fault anything and will try to get back there again in the future
