Negative experience: We've been members for a long time, and one of the key reasons we have membership here is for the spa. However, this spa is rarely ever fully operational...something or the other is always broken. But now it's just ridiculous - absolutely nothing is working. Cold Jacuzzi, cold steam room, and one Sauna out of order. Talk about the showers and machines...always a few out of order. For the price we may, this is pathetic service!

Negative experience: Very bad experience! The staff are very discriminating and rude. Wait for food for more than an hour several times!Canceling the policy is also very harsh.will cancel it ASAP!!!

Positive experience: Mixed thoughts on David Lloyd Hampton. Although this club has great facilities, it lets itself down with the awful car park, broken equipment, and sub-par customer service. I was promised refunds on 3 occasions in person but never saw a penny until I'd been chasing for months with most of my messages to customer service going unanswered. Most recently, I gave notice to cancel swimming classes for my child while visiting the club. I was asked to fill out a paper form to stop the direct debit, yet on the next charge date, the full amount was deducted. When querying it in the club on my next visit, I was told I shouldn't have been asked to fill out a form and instead needed to inform the club in writing to cancel. I had no trust in the club to actually resolve this for me - given my previous experiences with customer service and outstanding refunds- but Activities Manager Laura gave me her email and in 48 hours has cancelled the swim lessons and provided me with all 3 refunds. One was from as far back as May! She has been the saving grace of this whole fiasco and demonstrated the sort of customer service and people skills I expected all along. Outside of this, the car park is poorly maintained with a very uneven surface and reaches capacity during busy periods, which leads people to park dangerously on bends and walkways. The gym equipment is also often out of service, which can be frustrating, although I appreciate a certain level of breakages will occur due to their level of use. Overall, it is very disappointing from a club that promises so much but fails on such basic elements of good business. It has the potential to be fantastic - especially if it hores and trains more staff members like Laura (!), upgrades the car park, and invests in basic customer service.

Fantastic experience: It's a great place for leisure and a great place to go with family and friends. I highly recommend it. The options for children are limited so try not to bring any children. The food and eating area is very nice, I have not sat in the outside sitting area but it looks good.

Negative experience: It is very unfortunate and disappointing that Tennis is going down hill at this club. Managment should get rid of the clueless rackets manager. Clearly there are many unhappy tennis members, many of whom have left or leaving so surely the management should look in to it. When you speak to the tennis manager about any concerns she always has a very stupid look with a rodent nose as if what you said went right above her head! Does not care about the members feedback or tennis. Club needs a better manager!

Positive experience: Tired and gym seriously need a refurb. Equipment is rusted and some of machine don’t work as well as they should. Some have been broken. The complex itself it well looked after and it’s generally a nice place. However the showers and wet areas need more frequent cleaning….some area, especially showers I would not walk bare feet:(

Negative experience: Food is great here but some parents let their young children run around the lounge and shout and scream at the top of their voices. We’ve had this here before and there needs to be a play area or somewhere for them to go as they were being allowed to run between dining tables. This was in the evening.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member with David Lloyd for over a year now, I visit multiple clubs in London but the Hampton branch is my absolute favourite. I think the facilities here are outstanding and the team are lovely. Fantastic experience: I have been a member at David Lloyd Hampton since June and love the facilities there. The gym floor and classes are great but what I have loved most is my PT sessions with Lion. He is an absolutely brilliant PT who has given me great confidence with strength training by pushing me to my max in each session but in a supportive and encouraging way. Lion is really personable and friendly but also extremely knowledgeable and tailors each session to meet my goals. I would highly recommend Lion to anyone who is looking for PT sessions at the gym.

Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed my visit to the Hampton club today. I probably go to 5-6 different clubs per month, but this is definitely one of the best. The staff are super friend & helpful especially Katlina, who assisted me in the spa & to find the outdoor pool. I noticed her kind efforts and constant maintenance of the spa. Great team, will definitely be back.

Negative experience: One word: dreadful. I joined David Lloyd primarily because of the convenience of having a club on my commute and another close to home. However, I was appalled by the state of the David Lloyd Hampton. The only positive aspect of this club is the spaciousness of the gym floor; unfortunately, even that is poorly utilised due to the inefficient layout. Parking Good luck finding a parking spot during the day. Not only is parking a challenge, but if you’re fortunate enough to find a space, be prepared to return to your car blocked in by a fellow club member who seemingly has no understanding of how to park properly. Gym Floor As previously mentioned, the gym floor is relatively spacious, but due to the poor layout design, you often find yourself cramped together with other gym users. Free Weights The free weights area is squeezed into a small section of the gym, making it feel crowded and uncomfortable. You’ll be lucky to find a pair of dumbbells, as they’re often scattered across the gym floor with no apparent effort by users and staff to return them to their racks. It can easily take five minutes just to locate a matching set of dumbbells. The gym either suffers from chronic understaffing or there is a complete lack of effort to maintain the facility in a presentable condition. During the summer months, the gym floor becomes uncomfortably warm, making workouts unpleasant. The lack of adequate air conditioning exacerbates this issue, turning what should be an invigorating workout into an endurance test against the stifling heat. Machine Weights The machine weights are in a deplorable state. Many of them are broken, and even those that are functional often leave you with a thick layer of rust on your hands after use. It’s as though the equipment hasn’t been maintained in years. The rust not only makes the machines unappealing but also raises serious concerns about hygiene and safety. Having read multiple one-star reviews, it’s clear that David Lloyd is aware of these issues but has done little more than claim they’ve “taken the feedback on board.” This vague response, without any clear plan of action to address the problems, does nothing to reassure me. If significant improvements aren’t made soon, it’s highly likely that I will be moving to Third Space Richmond once it opens in the winter.

Negative experience: Nigel!!! Incredibly poor, super slow service at your cafe / bar yet again!! When people finish working out they want a quick smoothie; not an 10 minute wait & excuses about why there haven’t been basic ingredients like bananas for 2 weeks now! It’s pathetic & we will be sending formal complaint to the director / area manager. Get your ingredients, every day!!

Negative experience: Put a note on my account after visiting saying I cannot visit this gym, even though it clearly says on my account that I can visit all David Lloyd gyms with a corporate membership. Never had a problem with any other gym. Seems like they make their own rules or staff are just uninformed about corporate memberships. They should double check what access people have before putting notes/restrictions on accounts.

Fantastic experience: I fully recommend this club. My experience here, has always been uplifting. I am truly impressed with Bradley in management. He has immense knowledge of the clubs and is always warm and welcoming.

Negative experience: I feel really sorry for the blonde girl at the bar running around trying to serve people while 5 of her colleagues sit behind the bar socialising - took 10 minutes to get a beer. Other drinks just sitting there waiting for someone to take them out. Reception staff were lovely though.

Negative experience: Honestly, pretty terrible for the price.. The facilities just aren’t looked after well enough. Changing facilities are never clean (despite cleaners trying to clean at the busiest time of the day - there already aren’t enough showers, which is made worse when they decide to clean them at 5pm). There is never any soap in the showers, and the showers themselves leak or spill more water on the walls than on your body. The floor is constantly dirty with a film of muck. Gym equipment isn’t looked after either. Today for example there were 2 sets of cable machines that were out of order. One was missing a pin for the stack (it’s been missing for almost a week now, surely it’s not hard to replace a pin..) and the others pin had been bent so badly it was unable to be removed. There already aren’t enough cable machines for so many members. The bars/smith machines have become rusty, leaving a physical layer of rust on your hand if you’re not careful. There simply are not enough staff in the gym to keep it tidy, so you will constantly find weights all over the place, dumbbells in odd pairs on the racks and other bits of equipment broken (employ more staff to take care of the gym and, hopefully, teach some gym etiquette as it lacks horribly). You will see many other reviews below talking about the same broken equipment. The spa is fairly nice. However, for roughly the last 2 months, the ‘gates’ to the spa have been left open meaning that just anyone, on any tier of membership, can go straight through. This results in everything being crowded and too busy (thank god we pay for the luxury of this spa access when others get it for free). I know this has annoyed many but they failed to do anything. The facilities, such as the ‘cold plunge’ and saunas seem to break often and take weeks to fix. The wood in one of the saunas is so old and deteriorated I’m surprised no one has fallen through it yet. Also, when it comes time to clean it, the cleaners will literally just switch it off and kick you out without any warning (or manners/consideration for members that pay hundreds a month). I also can’t count the number of times I’ve walked into the toilets and the urinal has been throwing, what I hope is water but doubt it very much, all over the floor, leaving it flooded. So don’t even think about going in the bare foot before or after swimming. Sinks constantly dirty and covered in hair and god knows what else. The gym and spa could be a really nice place to be, but sadly it seems greedy membership are more concerned about the number of members they can get through the door rather than the experience those members have. If another gym offering similar facilities opened nearby, I would cancel my membership and leave in a flash. Pretty disappointing when myself and girlfriend pay over £350 a month between us. Management must do better. I must just add, my girlfriend did have a rather disgusting experience with a male member a few weeks ago and the management were FANTASTIC with handling it. I have no doubt the in house team at DL are really trying, because they are always very polite, friendly and extremely helpful. No doubt the problem comes from higher management level who (fail to) allocate budget and approve changes. Thanks to the local DL team.

Negative experience: Been a member since January, just horrible experience. Have most expensive diamond membership (220£), considering that you'd expect the best possible experience..unfortunately..no. 1. Spa gate broken for 2 months now, literally open to everyone to enter, even those who pay way less and should not have access (seen boys from gym who just have gym membership sitting in spa). Managers tried to cover it by saying there are members of staff sitting by the gate, which is nonsense, they come to sit for a minute or two and gone. Mostly completely unguarded (will take a random picture at any day as a proof). 2. Saunas often broken, water overspilled from steam sauna, baths been shut off for 2 weeks on one occasion(was in the water, member of staff literally kicked me and another lady out of water shouting why I didn't see sign pool is closed, was so rude. Althoughthe sign was same white as normal one saying have a bath before sauna, who'd notice???), asked management for a refund, no response. Why I am paying for things I cannot use??? Asked managers to contact me, even spoke eye to eye, completely useless, not sure what are they managing there. Just walking around with smile in their face and chit-chat with other staff, joking around. Asked main manager to contact me, gave my details, been a month, nothing. Left message on David loyds app to contact me..also nothing. 3. Fire drill, absolute nonsense. People should have been informed it was a drill, not just told to leave..some people have significant mood, mental anxiety other disorders, that's mental to not provide the reasons fully knowing its just a drill. Tell everyone it's a drill but we have to leave, wouldn't be any issue, everyone happy. 4. Come after work to have a meal yesterday, first before gym, ordered a simple meal (3 sausages, 3 bacon and 3 eggs)..Sat for 25minutes to the point where had to ask staff member if he could check what happened..so he brings my plate and I see lady who made my order shouting to him he didn't want toast so guy turned around and walked back to the kitchen, my meal had a walk abit. What's worst, plate comes again and it's messed up, 2 eggs, 1 bacon and 3 sausages. Come on. Went back to a lady for a refund, and she dared to tell me well its just 1 egg missing, like what's the problem. Then admitted she messed up bacon part. The service is bonkers bad.. 5. To get to outside pool is impossible if there's a bit of sunshine, people treat it as resort pool, get by the pool like vultures around meat, whole day, gets totally crowded. Its just a gym pool..literally, people cannot buy class..just embarrassing. Been at Acton and Heston loyds, everything in order, way better managed, problem its too far for me so attending hamptons instead..unfortunately just disappointment after disappointment.

Negative experience: Poor quality gym often with rusty or broken equipment. At least every couple of weeks I am having to report faulty or broken equipment and they say they’ve fixed it but yet here it is again broken! PTs hog multiple sets of dumbbells and are really rude. They’re meant to be a premium club but it’s definitely not. Needs a deep clean and new equipment. Already considering leaving having not been a member here a year!

Fantastic experience: Joined the David Lloyd Hampton few months ago and certainly the best club I have been into in the last 20 years. Sarah is a great manager making time for everyone and the team is excellent and very helpful. My children much prefer it here having tried all the other clubs around west London. Negative experience: Really wouldn't recommend this club - it's overpriced for what it is, has not been updated in about 10+ years whereas other lower cost DL's have been, the food is awful, and the spa is super outdated and falling apart. Third Space in Richmond is opening later this year, and for the cost of a David Lloyd membership, you could actually have a functioning club where management listen to members. The spa has not been updated in a long long time. Compare it to Raynes Park, Farnham, Royal Berkshire, all of which are Spa Retreats, however our cost of membership is the same if not higher and we have a really outdated spa. The Hydro Pool is extremely loud due to the jets (no other DL has jets like these) and hence means people shout, generally making the spa not a relaxing place to be. It is also full of grit. The Relaxation pool is also broken and missing tiles. I've seen people cut their foot whilst in the pool due to this. Also the Spa Gate has not been working in about 4 months, meaning that people who don't pay for a higher membership have just been walking in meaning it is way busier than it should be! It is just really inconsistent overall. Sometimes there is music, sometimes there isn't, Sometimes its far too loud etc. All we would like is some consistency with the service. Also if you look at other DL spas, the lighting is warm, soft and dim. At Hampton is is super bright and not really a relaxing environment at all. Some of the PTs don't even rerack their weights and don't help to clear up. Some of them are even scrolling on their phones during PT sessions which doesn't seem like the best thing to be doing. Also individual PT sessions is all they care about. If there is equipment to be lying around to be put away they will just leave it and concentrate on their session. They need to take some pride in their job. The only staff I've seen clear up appear to be the younger ones so fair play to them. It would be a good idea to have a massive gym sweep before and after peak times to ensure that everything is in the right place before it gets busy. Also the TheraGuns are 80% broken. Most of them make super loud noises due to never likely being serviced and generally they're always left out of battery or do not charge! If you actually get up close and inspect the equipment it's also really rusty and in comparison to places like PureGym which are far far cheaper, is really lacking the equipment for the size of the space. PureGym will have 3/4 leg extensions and chest fly machines, whereas DL only has 1 of each.

Fantastic experience: Really decent experience recently & the team see like they enjoy what they do, which is nice to see. Briefly met one of the Managers called Sara, I think who seemed busy but took time to talk to me about what I enjoyed about the club. Nice to have personable manager, who is full of energy.
