Negative experience: Leisure centre experience for country club prices. Too few, poorly trained (or just don't care) staff; dirty, poorly designed, often not working driving range facilities; no pro shop facilities or services and the best coaching pros are leaving. Massive improvement needed before this is anything like worth the fees asked.

Positive experience: Had a spa day recently and decided to have a hot drink prior to working out. One latte and one cappuccino took 40 mins to order and arrive. The young guy serving was being supported by his wholly inexperienced manager. Spent several hours here. The facilities were lovely. Everything was clean and well maintained.

Negative experience: Driving range inexplicably closed at 4pm on a Friday. No mention of it anywhere on the website, despite whatever event being held there having numerous food trucks closing up, so it being a planned event. Desperately disappointing, and a fair old drive to anywhere else. Communication needs be a lot better.
Negative experience: Since refurbishing the health club locker rooms, the gents room is unfit for purpose. The room is too small resulting in overcrowding if more than 6 people in it. Seating is inadequate. Very poor. A disappointed member.

Negative experience: I phoned up as a guest to try and join my friends on the back 9 and was told that I could join them only if I paid the full 18 hole price, not having a 9 hole green fee especially in the winter is a poor excuse to get more money out of people, no effort to try to get the price down either.

Negative experience: £13 for a basket of balls and half of them are 3 years old. And don’t tell me you have just replaced most of them because you haven’t. A captive audience that won’t speak up is what this place relies on. Avoid if at all possible.

Negative experience: pre booked online for 18 holes to get there and they say no booking and this has happened twice.
Negative experience: Overall Witney Lakes is 'okay'; the price is premium, the facilities dated, the staff mixed and as such it's ultimately poor value. The facilities are currently undergoing renovation which may bump this score up in the future. Currently, the weights area is too small, the pool area is okay, although dated and always feels much colder than advertised, whilst the classes overall are excellent. The staff are mixed- the instructors including Emma, Emily and April are all fantastic and really are what justify the premium membership fee. The frontline staff are friendly and try to be helpful. However, beyond that things really fall apart. Simple admin issues can go unresolved leading to a detrimental experience. A recent issue has seen me speak to four different staff, no follow-up, no resolution that has ultimately led to a totally unproductive and wasted week; something I have still ultimately paid for. Simple communication could have helped yet has been totally absent, very frustrating and far from the premium experience the gym projects as part of the sales pitch. Overall, excellent classes but otherwise Witney Lakes is a disappoinment.

Negative experience: I use the spa facilities so my review is mostly based on my experience of the above. First of all.. the condition of the steam room is disgusting! I spend £110 per month to visit here to smell the most rancid body odour that emits from the steam up to 20 yards away. It’s a fact, the spa area is totally neglected. If I visit in the evening, pools of water have gathered around shower areas that almost stagnates and creates slippery gunk. It is absolutely vile. I went into the steam this morning and since yesterday there was a persons collection of hair on the floor, quite clearly the room was not cleaned and again it absolutely stunk so much I had to leave. This situation has been going on for months and I have complained about it before. I was told by other members that the gym staff are told to periodically check the area but are disinterested as they’re not paid for this task.. Mens changing rooms are another, not once have I seen a cleaner in the changing rooms during the day, so potentially up to 100+ men pass through without any periodic cleaning. They might argue they’re building a new spa facility but if the current one is dirty so will the next. And to add, my swim shorts that I cleaned yesterday stench from the dirty steam room, horrendous. I cancelled my membership and will be going to Estelle Manor, I won’t be giving this place my money any longer.

Negative experience: Absolutely rubbish! I attended an event with 186 dinner guests, served by 5 very hard working young people. But honestly, how can 5 serve a 3 course dinner and drinks to that many people? They did their best but stood no chance. Drinks were buy table order only, our table waited one and a half hours for a drink. When our tray of drinks arrived two glasses of red wine and a pint of Asahi went all over our table and over me too. We ordered a second round straight away to be told there was a very long wait for drinks and they might not come! They arrived after our desert, which was SO late, no one got coffee, there were water glasses on the table but no water and we had to leave directly after the comedian. The youngsters that were serving did their best, but they were thrown under the bus by their managers and the resort leadership. I’m really, really disappointed.
Negative experience: Unfortunately I can't say we had a good experience at all. Starting with our arrival, we had two guest passes from 2 long time members who were present with us, we both had the email confirmation that we had registered for the pass but members were asked to log onto the app instead to produce a QR code ( I wonder why we even had to spend the time registering on email if its useless) One of the members took a while to remember psw and figure out how to log on the app, while I stood there with my 4 months old baby crying clearly struggling we were told we couldn't be let in until a qr code could be scanned, something which could have been easily sorted on exit. We were also charged an entrance fee for a 4 months old baby?! We eventually asked to be able to wait at the bar and while they still held up my mother in law for the qr by the time we made it into the changing rooms my baby had had enough, needed feeding and a nap so our swimming window was rather small. My mother in law made sure to check about pool temperature before going in as I believe you had had some issues with it and we were assured all was fixed. However the pool was definitely not the 29° reception claimed and way too cold for a baby, we understand issues with heating can happen but we would not have wasted a pass and just came back another time had we been told on entrance that the pool was cold. Lastly, leaving in a rush we forgot my baby's wetsuit poolside, I realised right as I got home and called in. I was assured the wetsuit had been found and stored safely in lost property, however when my mother in law came to collect it the day after she was told that they don't have it, not sure how something just vanishes like that. Overall unfortunately not a great experience, hope my feedback is helpful.

Negative experience: Would NOT recommend if you are vegan or have a food allergy. Went twice this week into the “bistro bar”(just a coincidence) and asked for the “vegan” pasta both times. The first time they bought everyone else’s food out and then 10 minutes later came out and said they could not make mine vegan as they hadn’t ordered the vegan cream in. So the only thing they could make me was was the flat bread and falafel. The second time I made sure to mention I was vegan when ordering, they bought it to table with everyone else’s food, I asked if it is definitely vegan they said yes, I said can you check with the chef because it smells like really cream. The chef admitted he used really cream so it wasn’t vegan. They were not apologetic. The manager blamed it on a temporary chef but also admitted when the ticket goes to the kitchen it doesn’t say anything about being vegan ( if you order a vegan only dish how does the kitchen not know that). Also the staff didn’t bring cutlery to the table ( 4 of them just stood at the bar blank faced when we asked for cutlery) and coffees took 10 min to make even though we were the only customers. Just overall a poor customer experience.
Negative experience: Oversold on memberships. Crowded spa area at any time of day. We have tried every time of the day but still struggle to swim without dodging people. Staff are lovely though.
Positive experience: Good, don't take cash

Fantastic experience: I’m really enjoying my membership at Witney Lakes. The classes are excellent (particularly Kim’s spinning classes) with a huge variety available across the day. The gym is clean and well equipped. I haven’t fully explored the workout app yet, but I think the option to record a workout at the tap of your membership card is very clever - and motivating. The booking app is very easy to use, and even if a class is fully booked it’s always worth popping yourself on the waiting list as a space inevitably becomes available. Just keep an eye out for the alerts! The steam & sauna rooms are a an added bonus, and I enjoy The Lounge for some quiet relaxation or to get on with some work. The staff on the front desk are always cheerful and helpful. And boring - but important - there is plenty of parking. No reason not to stick to my fitness resolutions this year!

Negative experience: Went to quiz night last night. 16 teams of 4 = 64 people. No bitter or cider on draft, no pizza, many menu items out of stock. How does this happen when teams pre-book and you know how many to expect? £36 for a bottle of wine and that's with members discount. Lastly, 16 teams paying £15 entry fee is £240. Winners won a bottle of prosecco, runners up a bottle of wine. Outrageous!!!! Members being treated as a cash cow!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic place to play golf! The landscape, the course and the facilities are amazing here. Friendly staff and a lovely bar/restaurant. Highly recommended to play golf here. I didn't stay the night but the rest of the facilities looked very nice too.

Negative experience: Do not plan an event here!! Completely disinterested in helping me plan a Wake…after numerous unanswered phone calls/emails I eventually drove to the resort to speak with the events manager (Sean) direct. Thought we’d made some progress, but then he sends a quote £10 per head over what he had advised was possible (after me clearly stating what the max budget is). Drove back the following day to speak with him (as I’ve given up on phone & email communication at this point) and he is completely blasé about the naff quote he offered and simply said “its what the chef sent through”?! Asked for a requote by the end of the day, which he agreed to do, but I’ve (unsurprisingly) heard nothing back - and this was 3 days ago. When discussing the price, I mentioned that a significant proportion of attendees would be from a large local business (i.e. if they do a good job, they’d have a high chance of return business) but he laughed and said that this doesn’t make any difference. Zero commercial acumen, and very little sensitivity to the challenges of arranging a Wake while also mourning a loss of a dear friend. The entire experience has just been dreadful and has made the process of planning a funeral more stressful than it needed to be. Completely unprofessional, and I’ve advised the funeral director to take Witney Lakes off their recommended suppliers list. **** As you can see from Witney Lakes’ response below, they have clearly missed the point. We had a suitable budget of £20 ph, but Sean decided to quote us higher than what we had agreed on - despite telling us that there were a number of budget options on offer (starting from £14 ph…so we were hoping for a middle ground). Despite all this, the main issue has been Witney Lakes’ lack of responsiveness and professionalism, and I feel their response to this review does a beautiful job of exemplifying this.

Fantastic experience: Spent a few hours here with my daughter who joined the club. Absolutely beautiful place. From what we could see, the whole place was spotless. Lovely staff and good food. Wish there was one near to where I live!

Fantastic experience: Great place to go for a work out or a wellness session (swimming pool with jacuzzi and sauna included). They also offer gym classes (Pilates, Zumba…) which I haven’t tried but the space looks pretty spacious. To top it all, they have a pub with food and drinks with fantastic views to the golf lake and fields to unwind before or after your work outs

Negative experience: 7 weeks of going back and forth to cancel our membership, multiple phone calls unreturned. When we signed up it wasn’t made clear enough that we were in a fixed contract. It’s been very misleading and the communication has been terrible. We’ve paid circa £300+ for the last 7 weeks and not been once.

Positive experience: Good fun on our work night out on the golf range. Safe to say I won’t be turning pro. Would have liked the opportunity to order more substantial food to the range rather than small portions of snacks. Otherwise no complaints.

Positive experience: Bar staff slow, they only stock tonic as a mixer so if you want let's say a brandy & ginger you are out of luck
Negative experience: Been a member for a year! Despite the effort never managed to book any classes I was interested in. There is rather poor booking system in place, you literally need to book at 7pm to get a class you wanted. Classes are cancelled last minute due to staffing reasons. Expensive, charge you for 5 star’s experience, deliver at 1star! Not recommended, not professional staff and waist of time.

Fantastic experience: Lovely members club set in leafy surroundings with the golf course wrapping around the main facilities. Swimming pool is clean and well maintained, great for family swimming sessions and with peaceful views out over the lake to the 18th green beyond. Changing facilities are clean and tidy. The bistro is really relaxing after a swim or gym. Great spot for a coffee and a bite, or to catch up on emails. Again the lake vista really brings the outside in and adds to the sense of calm. Ample outside seating too, for those sunny days. Visited a few times now as a guest of a member and enjoyed it each time, having food and using the facilities on each visit.

Negative experience: Very unimpressed! This is a review solely on the golf course. I've thought about playing a few times recently always put off by the high prices but booked for today and noticed if I booked before 2pm it would cost £50 a round whereas I paid £25 for 18. The bare, patchy fairways, tee boxes and greens weren't a good first impression. The greens were soft and uneven and all the fringes were under an inch of sand. I do appreciate the weather conditions we've had and courses need maintenance but at what cost to the customer. I play a reasonable amount of golf on various courses so I'm aware of other courses and fees and this today was barely worth £1 / hole. It's a shame, 10 years ago I loved this course.
I am sorry to hear that your recent visit to play golf here at Witney Lakes Resort did not meet your expectations. Sadly your visit coincided with our seasonal course maintenance where essential annual work was carried out on the greens, tees and fairways only days before your visit. This process does take a little time for the course to recover as I am sure you can appreciate. Fantastic experience: Very nice golf course. Decided to do this one for my first 18 holes. Me, my dad and two of his friends went round it. The course itself was kept nice and the greens were all nice. I struggled a bit for my first 18 holes but will be back once I’ve had some more practice on the 9 holes. Stopped for a pint after. Had a Guinness. very good.

Fantastic experience: Had a lovely 14 holes as a guest, cost £20 which was a bargain. Lovely course, fairway and green quality high. Reasonably priced drinks in bar. Mix of people playing in normal trainers, shorts etc so seems like attire isn't strict Well worth it.

Positive experience: Great club house, lovely food and very welcoming. Golfing wise coarse well looked after and greens look fabulous until you get close and play them, too many pitch marks that don't get repaired and quite bubbly

Positive experience: The resort is modern and well looked after. Had a great induction at the gym and the guys there are very friendly and knowledgeable. The gym has a great mix of modern equipment and free weights and I look forward to using the rest of the facilities including pool, saunas and workout classes. The only downside is that it doesn't have a spa.

Fantastic experience: Our daughter got married on 13th November, it was the best day ever. Lauren the wedding coordinator was brilliant, she took care of everything. So many staff to look after everything, can't recommend it enough. Thank you so much from the mother of the bride!

Negative experience: I would not recommend this place. Joined on black Friday offer, cancel membership at any time. "NO CONTRACT" Cancelled my direct debit and now there is a debt collection agency after me (£200). Apparently there is a "small print" that you can't cancel at any time. Disgusting marketing.
Negative experience: " YOU DESERVE TO BE SOME WHERE ELSE" and yes I have visited your awful golf club, it stinks like your attitude. We won't be returning ,you put my Husband's life at risk as well as your other paying customers when you refused to take necessary steps to maintain social distancing during the pandemic. Totally unforgivable not to mention how greedy this place has become.

Positive experience: fairly cheap food, a waiter named Annie was quite rude to us.
Fantastic experience: The club most local to me but I was instantly impressed. The great feel, the restaurant and bistro are great. The staff are welcoming and helpful and the golf course is great.
