The Armitage Sports Centre - University of Manchester

Negative experience: I had a bad experience with the university service with this sport centre advising misleading information One staff member called this morning advising due to bad weather my booking will be cancelled which is understandable and I will be refunded and I can book with them for free for next time. When they should have actually advised that no your booking for today will be cancelled but use the same funds to rebook again with them. This is very confusing from the staff I had requested my refund.

Fantastic experience: Good pitches. Parking spaces can be hard to find depending on match time. On site cafe opens at 3pm on Saturday which is a bit pointless when most mat he's are between 9am - 1pm.

Positive experience: Played badminton. Decent place with a decent car park. Lighting could be improved a little as we missed a few shots losing the shuttle because of the glare from the lighting

Positive experience: A really great event, they need to put in a free cash machine. As the venders were asking for cash. The nearest cash machine is a good ten minute walk! If you’re mobility impaired that can be difficult.

Fantastic experience: Was busting for a tinkle while watching footy outside. Smiley staff nicely pointed me in the right direction.

Positive experience: Went there multiple times for badminton and the services are good. The courts are nice and their online booking services are also decent

Negative experience: I am totally disappointed with the facility and the attitude of the managerial staffs in Amritage Sports Centre. Especially a staff called Darren / Darryl ? so rude to the participants for no reasons while people were polite and trying to do sports !!! I highly recommend any other sports centres where the staffs and facilities are much friendly and great !!! For example Trinity, sugden, belle vue, ten acres.

Negative experience: Terrible communication. No one picks the phone when called. I wonder what is the purpose of giving phone number?

Positive experience: Good facility with changing rooms and toilets. Parking on site restricted through an app but 3 hours free is plenty of time!

Positive experience: Can't speak for outdoor facilities, but the gym is decent, you get what you pay for. Does get very crowded at peak hours as one would expect

Positive experience: Has a small gym with cardio, weights and a stretch zone . Multiple halls able to be booked and close proximity to student accommodation.

Negative experience: There are no lockers to leave your stuff in. There used to be, but not anymore, which is a shame.

Fantastic experience: The quality and quantity of equipment satisfied me more than any other gym in Manchester. The large number of weight plates and 5 different racks being present are pleasing. Even the detail of having weight clamps makes it different from other gyms. Moreover, it is discounted for UoM students. The equipment seemed more than sufficient to me, except for two things. Captain's chair and a measuring scale. I reported these to the management as feedback, I hope they will take care.

Negative experience: Gym is nice enough but do not leave any property in the gym, it will get slolen. Within a 2 week period I left two gym towels on a bench, they disappeared and in once case I was the last person in the gym on a Saturday and the next morning it was nowhere to be found. The staff smile but don't care, finders keepers losers weepers seems to be the prevailing attitude. Entirely my own fault but its disappointing that there are scummy people pathetic enough to steal gym towels but there you have it.

Fantastic experience: Good place, I enjoyed

Positive experience: A nice open setting and bigger grounds than expected. Parking spaces were quite narrow and soon filled up. Pity nowhere to get a drink, especially with the vending machine out of action.

Positive experience: Great facilities. Panic loading of car parking apps to pay to park for three hours. First three hours are free. Viewing any hockey game is poor. Has a Strangeways feel about it, in the cages.

Fantastic experience: First class sports facilities and great for watching grandson play junior football.

Positive experience: Good pitches in an easy to reach location. The changing facilities could do with an update but perfectly functional and clean. The signage could do with being a bit more obvious and clearer but some of this is down to home teams to make clear to visitors. Parking is free for three hours via an app (as of 29/01/22)

Negative experience: We used the squash courts which haven't been cleaned in years it would seem. The ball kept picking up dust even. Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: I referee here quite regularly during the football season and the facilities are first class. The playing surfaces of the 3G pitches are excellent. I would highly recommend this facility.

Negative experience: Utter garbage overpriced impossible to book a court. Staff untrained , no one answers a phone . The custumer service is appalling. They are funded by the council throught the unis and are a utter home of a gym and sports hall. It does nothing for local people . Get rid ASAP.
