Gateshead International Stadium: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Cracking little stadiumm
Fantastic experience: Fantastic stadium and sports centre.
Positive experience: Decent venue. Very busy on the weekend event, but well managed
Positive experience: Visited the christmas market which was held on sunday 10th nov 11-6 queue was longer than oblivion at alton towers at half term 1hr wait just to get in for that length of wait i want nicki minaj swinging fdom the ceiling for an extremely poor display not well organised at all people at the back of the queue were going on by the exit down to the organisers discretion yet everybody in the front half had to wait another 30mins. Security far best have went home because they were the very essence of useless, full of gemstones not very christmassy at all wont be going back indoor and outdoor areas quite dated for being an international stadium as they put it it was like a time warp.
Fantastic experience: Stall holder at a craft fair held here. Was busy all day and had been well advertised.
Fantastic experience: Visited for the Christmas fayre. Ample car parking, Helpful and friendly staff
Negative experience: Boring.
Negative experience: Massive queue, waited an hour to get in, plenty of space inside, lots of crafty stalls selling all kinds of gifts and christmas decorations.
Fantastic experience: Great place. We went to a Christmas market event and it was very well organised with loads of things to do and buy Christmas gifts
Fantastic experience: A really fantastic venue indeed.
Positive experience: Good stadium with reasonable facilities. Been many times for athletics tournaments and to watch the match.
Fantastic experience: Home to the best football club in the North East, Gateshead FC. What more is there to say?!
Positive experience: Shame football was poor
Fantastic experience: Gateshead International Stadium provides a fantastic sports experience. The venue is well-kept with plenty of seating, and the staff are always welcoming and approachable. It’s the perfect spot for families and sports fans alike.
Fantastic experience: 1st class stadium
Positive experience: Nice football but no roof . I got soaked :(
Positive experience: Great venue for the North East Tabletop Expo 2024. Lots of space for vendors. Though the toilets were a little tricky to find
Fantastic experience: Had a brilliant night, music , orchestra and performers were fantastic, such talented people, the whole night was excellent, event staff were professional but friendly. The double decker bus playing music was amazing, dodgems, bar staff excellent, all in all exceeded my expectations, do not miss the next one. Thanks for a great experience.
Fantastic experience: Work experience 1995
Fantastic experience: Love this gym. Has everything you need for a good workout. The staff are lovely and very helpful xx
Positive experience: Friendly stewards, average food but at least away fans located in main stand instead of open seating on opposite side
Fantastic experience: Always good to get a win on the road.
Fantastic experience: A nice clean entrance/ toilets and hall. Was made very welcome
Positive experience: Amazing stadium for Gateshead. Got everything you need. A nice size and can hold some amazing events. Unfortunately, Gateshead council is letting it get run down. Needs some much needed investment.
Positive experience: Went to an antiques fair. Was busy, got parked but the cafe wasn't even open, just a bait van outside. Was an ok visit.
Negative experience: Not a great stadium if I have to be 100% honest
Fantastic experience: We are having our very first rubics cube comp in the Newcadtle area and this place was chosen for the venue, the main hall is huge! Plenty of room to set up etc.
Fantastic experience: Has great events and an amazing football team. A great set up for athletic events.
Fantastic experience: Well maintained venue but on a lunchtime there are far too few places to sit
Fantastic experience: Great day out
Positive experience: Great atmosphere watching Gateshead FC. The pitch and stands are good, the Home stand is covered. The main building is a little tired, and the canteen is small, however overall it's clean and safe.
Positive experience: My daughter had netball training here and it was a good facility. They used the double sportshall.
Negative experience: With winds of up to 70mph sitting in the unroofed stand here was not fun! The football pitch is within the outer running track so if the ball goes out of play the Ball boys and girls have a fair distance to cover to retrieve it! I don't think we will be paying a return visit!!
Positive experience: Brilliant place in the heart of Newcastle
Negative experience: International stadium errr don't think so it's a disgrace needs a few quid spending on it
Negative experience: Need binoculars to see the football no roof on away stand, shocking. Pleasant staff no atmosphere.
Fantastic experience: Nice compact municipal stadium
Fantastic experience: Fantastic stadium and well worth a visit
Positive experience: Went here to watch the football over the weekend. Its not the best stadium for football and some parts of the ground need a refurbishment. The main entrance area and concourse are OK, however when I went there they made everyone sit on the one side of the pitch and with only one kiosk for food it made for some very long lines. This stadium is about a 25 minute walk from Heworth Interchange or you can get the 94 bus there.
Positive experience: Went to a retro game fair with my eldest son, and he's into collecting older PS 2 / 3 games to his extensive collection
Positive experience: Open run basketball sessions on a Sunday morning ,great for keeping fit
Fantastic experience: Excellent place to watch football
Fantastic experience: Went to an antique fair here. Very well set out and lots of stalls.. no cafe open but there was a hot food can outside and vending machines for snacks inside .
Fantastic experience: Spot on can see the pitch out of my daughters front room window
Positive experience: It's a cold hole. Come here for football, god knows why. An unfinished (no roof) stand allows a view of the sky, better than the footie.
Fantastic experience: Exposed. Its a athletic track after all.Could do with a proper indoor bar at the away side.Girls in the away kiosk worked wonders with the hot drinks.Easy to get to via metro from Haymarket . Shrimpers furthest away trip. Good effort Heed army.
Fantastic experience: We had our Vegan Fest here lovely open since
Fantastic experience: Enjoyed visiting this place. Nice stadium. Very clean. Plenty of seating available. Seats are a bit far from the pitch so slightly hard to get view of what's happening on the other side/end. Staff are very friendly. Parking is decent but not the largest. They also have indoor gym facilities. Overall, nice experience.
Fantastic experience: Great pitches, floodlights work
Fantastic experience: Good large stadium with decent view from Main covered seating area.
Fantastic experience: Love this place at the centre and heart of a community trying hard always like the antiques fair as they are dog friendly......thank you
Fantastic experience: Went for a retro games market which was very good. All great except some signage for the toilets would have helped from randomly wondering about the corridors to find one. Could of also done with at least some sort of tea/coffee or refreshments stall when they have events on
Fantastic experience: Lovely environment. Can eat inside of the stadium or u can eat out. The track is large and you are able to sit in the stands if u are watching a game of anything. A perfect stadium.
Positive experience: Went there for a show.very large hall. Wasn't sure about parking, but got parked. Toilet facilities very poor.only 2 male cubicles in male changing rooms.
Fantastic experience: Very well organised antique fair. Plenty of parking. Clean facilities. Hot food & drinks available
Fantastic experience: Newcastle gaming market was fantastic, great deals and much more would recommend to anyone
Positive experience: Great football, food and beer
Fantastic experience: Stadium needs a good lean up ..staff lovely
Positive experience: Attend some games when I can, Facilities and stadium are brilliant for a lower league team.
Fantastic experience: Went to Nufc friendly game. Nice stadium. Shame we were in the stand with no roof and it was pouring with rain. Got drenched. But plus side, really easy to get parked nearby
Fantastic experience: Great place and very good football team
Fantastic experience: Often enjoy watching a game here!
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, great atmosphere at the Gateshead v Newcastle friendly. Glad I was in the home supporters stand, the other 3 stands got drenched!
Positive experience: Went for a pre season friendly with Newcastle united as it's mainly used for athletics three of the stands have no roof on so if it's forcast rain then I would recommend taking a umbrella as u will get wet
Fantastic experience: Bring a coat, scarf, gloves and someone to cheer with.
Positive experience: I had a decent day watching Newcastle United take on Gateshead FC in their first preseason friendly. The weather was appalling with Thunder and heavy downpours, the home fans stayed dry but that is all part of the game. The staff were great and friendly with questions and directions and it looks like away fans will soon have cover as well on what I think is the East stand.
Positive experience: Hmmmmm. Went to watch Newcastle play Gateshead. I knew the stadium was only partially covered and I knew the forecast was for heavy rain. I have spent decades on open terraces, however, what surprised me was just how very dirty the south stand terraces is! The rain threw up dirty and grime onto all of the seats and no one provided anything to wipe them with. Thank you!!!!! In the future, invest in a jet wash and clean the concrete routinely. Then when you charge someone for a seat they can use it. Feel slightly ripped off by Gateshead FC.
Fantastic experience: Great sports hall for hosting big indoor events.
Fantastic experience: Away supporters prepare to get wet not a very pleasant place to be on a wet day
Positive experience: Amazing venue for events we were there for a car show (kulturshock) loads of space in the stadium easy to get to and plenty free parking around! Only downside are the toilets, there was only 3 stalls, 1 did not lock and the others didn't have toilet roll! Other than that it's great x
Positive experience: Vast, crumbling and post apocalyptic, the Heed are tinpot mags with barely any fans, the ground has the facilities you’d expect from a non league ground in the 1940s
Negative experience: Worst stadium I've ever been in, really isn't set up for football, pitch is a long way from the crowd on all 4 sides, can't be helped I guess. What can be helped No cash payment taken at kiosk card only. Some people still use cash. If your not accepting cash have a sign up telling people , so they're not waiting in a que 20 mins for nothing. Inside the stadium is tatty, untidy and dirty. Weeds grow through gaps in the crumbling steps. Every seat i went sit on was thick of dirt, mould and moss. Lot of broken seats. Toilets were disgusting and dirty portable toilets. It may be called an international stadium but it doesn't live up to that name. Maybe international high ticket prices After watching a friendly at South shields early the same day south shields is premier league standard compared to gateshead. I know building work costs money, but there's no excuse for dirt and filth.
Positive experience: Good ground seating not close to the pitch so atmosphere suffers for football, limited parking, overall decent experience
Positive experience: Great venue, coffee machine out of order this weekend :-(
Fantastic experience: Great stadium to attend. Very friendly and polite staff, good prices for food and drink. Also a great on site car park that is free!
Fantastic experience: Done the Gateshead half marathon here, it's a geeat place for athletics or watching the Heed and everything else that goes on here!
Fantastic experience: Besides being an international sports stadium it's the home of 'The Heed' Gateshead Football club
Positive experience: Lovely looking pitch. No atmosphere Polite catering staff and stewards, but just no atmosphere
Negative experience: Gateshead fc need a new ground, this isn't a football stadium!!
Fantastic experience: Great atmosphere best fans went to the match with my step brother and we chanted the heed army for the entire game my step brother also had a couple pints great stadium for 11,000 odd I strongly recommend this stadium for many VIPS and celebrities
Fantastic experience: Great day got beat but still enjoyed match great staff will definitely be going back x
Negative experience: Too expensive and there tires are bad and cheap rubber and they said it was the best on
Positive experience: Not really made for football more for athletics . and no roof on away end stadium However the staff were great and the people
Positive experience: So so, miles away from the playing surface, very little atmosphere. Staff helpful and friendly, food and drink average. Helped with a 3-0 win and top of the league.
Fantastic experience: We loved the stalls and the items, great antique fair..
Positive experience: Luv to go and watch Gateshead Play, very friendly crowd, plenty of encouragement from the fans Grest food. Wrap up warm.
Positive experience: Grandson enjoyed the football because gateshead won.
Fantastic experience: Visited as away football fan. Free parking on site. Stewards really friendly and helpful. Uncovered away section but weather was mainly dry. Teas and snacks available, varied and reasonably priced. Card payment available. Good view of the match. Overall a really enjoyable experience apart from the result!
Fantastic experience: Great experience day, my son thought he was a legend during in the directors box.
Negative experience: Gateshead ended up putting stevenage fans under what looked like an unfinished stand with just an over frame but know over head coverage to stop us getting wet . Yet couid of put us in the main stand segregated from home fans . For me unacceptable considering the long journey and money spent by many . Plenty of room to the left of the main stand. Something around 135 .
Fantastic experience: Stadium staff even hygiene listened to the attention welcoming before the match.
Positive experience: People were reet friendly however the view from the away stand is not ideal. It did help that we won so not being too negative I hope.
Negative experience: Not a football stadium, to far from the pitch, decent pie and pint
Positive experience: Went to my first game in 30 years here. Although it was in the away end was still a great atmosphere. Used to always come to the stadium as a kid as my mam and aunt used to be stewards at the events and concerts so always ended up getting free entry. So it was a bit of a nostalgic moment being back in the stadium and actually got a seat at the spot my mam was always posted.
Positive experience: Lovely place clean tidy but lacking in the way of food and drink
Fantastic experience: Lovely place.... frie dly people......omg the best pie too xx
Fantastic experience: Visited due to NERG awesome venue ,brilliant event
Fantastic experience: Amazing stadium, although the stands have very steep steps! Very clean and lovely staff.
Fantastic experience: Warm and welcoming friendly staff very helpful
Positive experience: Canny local show shame there wasn't more there to look at, but other than that good turn out
