Shipston Leisure Centre: Opinions
Negative experience: They actively avoid sharing any contact details with customers to allow them to cancel memberships. I had to speak with the bank to report them. Even the contact phone number registered with the bank for direct debits doesn't go anywhere.
Positive experience: Gym is great and has a good selection of modern equipment including 2 racks and 3 benches. Generally very clean and well maintained too. Only reason for less than 5 stars is the music - feels like they've been playing the same 10 tracks for over 2 years.
Positive experience: There are great lessons for kids, but there are never enough chairs for parents when they come to watch their children swim. Can you please put some more chairs? Asked a few times reception, but it looks like no one cares.
Fantastic experience: Best swimming classes we have found for children. Teachers make it fun and the children seem to excel because of that. In particular Sue has been amazing and our daughter can’t wait to swim because of her. Thanks very much.
Fantastic experience: Engaging Teachers, Good size pool for swimming and friendly staff on reception. Easy process to drop kids in and view from the waiting area. There is also a family changing room that has a seat for baby/toddlers with straps and I can't shout enough how helpful this is when bringing multiple children to lessons!! The lessons are great value especially as you get free swimming at any of the EA centres too.
Fantastic experience: Both my children have had swimming lessons at Shipston for many years. The swim teachers are fantastic and the staff are always really helpful and try their best to solve any problems. Thoroughly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Shipston Everyone Active is well used by us! Twice a week for children’s swimming lesson & Sharks, I can’t speak more highly of Suzanne & Sue as swimming teachers. I am at the centre 3 times a week for my own swimming training. I also use the gym. An extremely clean & well run centre by Tim with friendly and helpful staff.
Positive experience: Great place, but the pool temperature is cold for young kids. Agree to another comment that I had to leave the pool after 15min since my boy lips were changing to purple.
Positive experience: Centre was clean and nice, staff were absolutely lovely and deserve 5 starts alone, pool was big. Unfortunately the water temperature in the pool was so cold that my sons lips went blue and we had to leave after 15mins, I couldn’t get him to stop shivering for 40mins after and I was actually quite worried about him. So regrettably we won’t be returning which is such a shame. If you was able to guarantee the water would be warmer then you would have two constant new customers.
Negative experience: Not impressed with some of the staff.
Fantastic experience: Great place to swim or workout in the gym. Staff are very friendly, and facilities are clean, well maintained and well equipped. The gym has a variety of different equipment, from Cardio to resistance. Membership is very reasonable, and the long opening hours means it's great for an early morning or late night workout. Swimming lessons are available here.
Fantastic experience: Excelent leisure!
Negative experience: All is very good, aqua fitness leader is excellent. All is very clean and safe. Biggest complaint is that the water temperature is very cold. This is a common complaint from other participants. It makes it very uncomfortable to exercise as the muscles have difficulty in relaxing and make stretching exercises difficult.
Fantastic experience: Very good for people to exercise there and good for people to move around and use new equipment
Positive experience: Solid basic facilities, few more smiles from the staff maybe?
Fantastic experience: I almost drowned
Fantastic experience: Great to be back in the pool. Feel very safe there too.
Negative experience: Not bad but couldnt see, dont do weights at midnight
Fantastic experience: Super friendly, small local facility
Positive experience: Great swimming pool. It can get busy at times with people having to wait until others come out before they can go in to swim. Not sure how staff know who's been in the longest. Could be a good idea to have coloured bands issued to swimmers as they enter so that staff can then check who's been in the longest.
Fantastic experience: Nipper loves her swimming lessons
Fantastic experience: Nice pool and friendly staff.
Positive experience: The staff try their hardest to keep this place clean but the poolside should be cleaned properly outside of opening hours by proper commercial cleaners as its really not very clean at all. It shouldn't be the job of a lifeguard to clean too... The gym is ok but again the equipment could be cleaner and when little things break they should be fixed... Not a terrible experience at all, there is just plenty of room to improve.
Positive experience: Clean but small leisure centre
Fantastic experience: Good but water bit cool
Fantastic experience: Great facility for a small town.
Negative experience: went on a Saturday afternoon for the wet and wild session, where in the timetable it states there is inflatables for the kids to enjoy, not a single inflatable in sight!!!!!! there were 5 kids in ages ranging from 12-16 in the pool and not a single other person, immediately after the hour of wet and wild had finished the life guard came over and told everyone to get out as the time was up, even though the session immediately after is advertised as family fun for an hour and a half and there was no evidence of any other people coming in, and also states in the program there is only a minimum of an hour if the pool is busy, and we would have been happy to pay, it was obvious that the staff actually couldn't be bothered to supervise the grand total of 5 kids who were having a fun time, wouldn't recommend the pool to be honest definitely does not do what it says on the tin.
Fantastic experience: Good place for working out like at the gym for example the swimming pool aswell
Positive experience: good facilities but staff could do with learning some manners...barking at people in the pool ruins the experiance
Positive experience: Small centre, but good facilities
Positive experience: Nice to have a relaxing swim at the end of the week. Never too crowded. Very good showers & changing facilities. Easy driving distance to local pubs & Fish n' Chips shop.
Fantastic experience: I take my kids swimming there and I like the staff they are very helpful.
Positive experience: Good facilities
Positive experience: We live in Stratford with two teenage kids, but far prefer this pool to the "award winning" one in Stratford. The pool is smaller but it's far airier and more pleasant to spend time in. Always clean too.
Fantastic experience: Outstanding swimming lessons for children of all ages and abilities. We love the flexibility of lessons running every day and there being lessons for different stages running at the same time. The teachers here really are excellent!
