Grange Leisure and Community Centre

Negative experience: If anyone is thinking of booking the Grange for a private function I would seriously advise against it, they can't cater for large numbers, we had a function there last month and some of our guests queued for up to an hour for a drink and they virtually ran out of everything pretty quickly, some of our guests went to the shop in Grange Drive and bought there own, some left early and went to the local pub, we complained but got the usual corporate response, don't have your occasion ruined like we had ours

Positive experience: We had a lovely time at a friend's birthday party. The bouncy castle was great & the children had a great time. However, I was quite shocked at how rude a member of staff was towards the mum of the child's birthday party. She entered the birthday party with a face of thunder & told the Mum to turn the music down? The mum was trying to cut up the birthday cake for the guests & stopped what she was doing to do as she was told by this miserable looking lady. She went back to continue being busy as Mums are at birthday parties and this member of staff re-entered the room and demanded she turned it down even further. Even though where we were sat we couldn't even hear the music because it was already at a quiet level. When the music was turned down it was so quiet it may aswell have been off which is quite a shame for a 5 year olds birthday party. I would recommend that the middle aged lady with blonde spiky hair & bright pink Tshirt goes on a customer care course. Her approach towards the mum made me feel very uncomfortable I cannot understand how you can allow 5 year old birthday parties and not expect there to be party music even at a low level. Perhaps if she had spoken in a polite manner it would not be so shocking - but sadly her rudeness will prevent me from booking my sons party here. Such a shame.

Fantastic experience: We held a reception here in the Stratton Suite and they were brilliant with us. The price was affordable and the guys at the front desk were super helpful.

Negative experience: Very small for the event we went to there

Negative experience: Some of the staff are rude, and now it is completely cashless. Due to many reasons, I only ever use cash to pay. Cash is king! Use it or lose it!

Fantastic experience: A very friendly gym. All different levels of fitness are met here. PT instructors are fantastic.. There are plenty of group classes with wonderful teachers. Great facilities with plenty of parking

Fantastic experience: Great place to get fit and healthy, staff very friendly, clean and well designed place with a good cafe and easy parking.

Negative experience: I would not recommend hiring the main hall for a function, they put none of the heating on for my wedding which was in the cold snap at the beginning of December so consequently majority of guests had to leave within a hour as it was just too cold to sit. I complained first thing on the Monday morning and argued about a refund as I had paid £800 to freeze, I was told that they would then give me £600 back so I could book another room at a different venue, however since then still no refund a couldn't care less attitude from the staff and refusing to give me head offices number or contact details other than a email address that no one answers after going in today to talk to the staff again I've now been told it will take at least 21 days to come back. I'm absolutely disgusted that no contact has been made with us to try to even sort the matter, the 100 plus wedding guests will be leaving a review and they definitely won't be positive. Shameful customer service by a organisation that are for the public.

Fantastic experience: I visited the soft play which is FREE! Don't get me wrong it's not that big at all but it's free and a perfect place to spend an hour or so. I took my 2 year old and 9 month old and although there wasn't anything for my baby she was happy just crawling around and watching. We had the whole place to ourselves, not sure what it would be like busy, but again it's free. Nice cafe attached to it so if your child is slightly older then you can sit and have a coffee whilst watching. Clean toilets and plenty of parking spaces.

Fantastic experience: Perfect gym and classes for me. Les Mills and Les Mills vibes if you know them you get it fun hard work classes, all you need from a gym too. Great variety keeping you busy with no excuses all week!

Positive experience: I primarily visit this centre for badminton. There are various other activities that can be booked. Unfortunately it is not possible to book for a badminton court online, so you’d need to call or go in person to book a court. The staff are helpful and will setup the court prior to your arrival. The prices are odd as some days you’d be charge less than usual and other days a bit more. I once paid just over £10 for an hour session, and another time £8.

Fantastic experience: I did decorations for this hall and it’s a lovely venue. It can accommodate 100 people, they have round tables and Banquet chairs. Free parking available. Clean place with very lovely staff. Toilets are also clean. Instagram page: @decorationandballoonhire

Negative experience: Management is absolute joke. Please don’t book this if you don’t want to face the disappointment of them telling you that they’ve made a “admin error” so they can give YOUR slot to the “regulars”. If it was jus the one time I would of put it down to genuine mistake but this has been a ongoing issue. Just yesterday we had a slot booked under OUR name but one of their “regulars” who usually block book that slot forgot to extend their their booking; common sense tells me that we should of got the pitch but instead their Manager Sam Williams decides to give to the other group cos he knew them personally. This is just one of the many times their management has unprofessional.

Negative experience: I would give 0 stars if it was possible. Had booked a football pitch with payment taken, email received. A whole of group of lads ready to come play football, some even moving stuff in their diary so they can attend. Only to turn up and find that it had been double booked. It’s one thing being a one off issue but this has happened before countless times and reading the other reviews also it seems to many people too. Today, we showed the staff member our booking email. He then called up the manager named Sam. Sam had made the call that pitch will be going to the other group and that we were to leave and refund will be issued. They had no evidence of booking as well, so why did they get the pitch you may ask? Well Sam actually knew the other team personally. So his Bias came into play. A bit too professional for my liking! Stay well away from this place, plenty of other pitches in Swindon. I hope Sam gets some sort of consequence for his poor poor actions.

Negative experience: Worst experience ever. This place dosent even deserve a star.We booked a pitch well in advance and had email correspondence to confirm this. Only for us to be told on the day that the pitch had been double booked. They called the manager Sam and asked him about this and he chose a team who plays there regularly with no booking evidence to Thier name and told us to leave the premises and that we would get a refund of our money, instead of offering us an alternative they tried to charge us for using Thier indoor pitch. This is downright favouritism for the managers point as he favoured the people he knows which is a real shame to the business as it not only stops people from booking which is revenue for the business but also tarnishes the reputation of the Grange leisure. Personally I feel the managers behaviour towards customers needs investigating by senior management as this has clearly happened multiple times and is unacceptable. The manager Sam has let his authority get the better of him by thinking he can do anything due to his role without putting the customer first (fundamental to any business).

Positive experience: Very good gym with plenty of machine's to train on, very well cept centre

Fantastic experience: We have hired the hall twice for family functions and both times we’ve had very good experiences. The staff are super friendly, they go out of their way to make sure you have a good time, and they are super accommodating. I would highly recommend.

Positive experience: Was there for a baby shower and managed to get lost. It is very spacious, with lots of rooms, with activities in each of them. It was very clean and tidy.

Negative experience: Started coming to this gym about 2 months ago. I was using the free day passes to use the gym and everything was going fine. That was until I was running on the treadmill a few days ago when a rude lady came up to me whilst I was trying to focus on my exercise and started disrupting me by constantly saying ''excuse me'' in front of other people until I finally got fed up and had to stop my running. Are you not able to consider waiting until a person has finished what they're concentrated on doing to tell them something? And guess what the EXTREMELY important thing she had to tell me that was so life-changing? ''You have to be a member to use the free day pass''. What? Is that what was so important that you had to shout it out in front of other people and embarrass yourself? So it couldn't wait until you saw me exiting the gym which was when you could have told me? You had to rudely and dangerously interrupt me just to tell me that? What confuses me so much is that I had been attending the gym for 2 whole straight months and it was only now they realised this and decided to tell me. Also, nothing was mentioned in the terms and conditions about having to be a member to use the day passes or anything along those lines. Can't believe such inconsiderate people are allowed work in places like this. Disgusting.

Fantastic experience: I'm 42 and I've tried joining the gym 4 times before over the decades and never kept it up. Mainly because I felt self conscious and didn't feel right going. Anyway, 5th time lucky - this community gym is friendly and welcoming. Supportive and motivational - absolutely because of the people who work here. I just need to work on my consistency. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Booked the hall with bar and use of the soft play area for a birthday party. Despite some staff changes during the booking process which resulted in some communication mishaps, the staff were quick to help us rectify things. And on the day, despite being short staffed due to covid and running two parties at the same time, the staff were very helpful and friendly and worked very hard to cater to everyone. The venue was a great size for what we needed, air conditioned (needed during a current heat wave) access to outside benches and good clean facility’s. Everyone had a great time.

I’m a regular user of the gym & prior to the new opening times I didn’t have time to get to the gym. To follow on from my last point why is there a disparity btw weekend opening hours & bank holiday opening times? Thank u once again Folks. M Mood

Negative experience: I was attending an event there on Sunday 13th March 2022. As I was leaving I asked a member of staff if they could get a minicab for me as my Mental Health and Physical Disabilities were playing up very badly and I was in severe pain. They never rang a minicab. I was left waiting there for over 30mins. By the time I got into Swindon, I was in so much pain. That I self harmed until my hand was dripping with blood. Avoid at all costs if you are a tourist.

Negative experience: Great gym which is let down but filthy changing rooms. After 6 weeks of speaking to staff and filling out 4 feedback forms nothing has been done about the mould and slimy floors in the showers, snot on the walls and broken/constantly on taps. I know it's not a premium £75 monthly membership however something NEEDS to be done about it.

Then the management of the day convinced us to play indoor implying that it would be free for within 30 minutes, time passed ended up not playing at all. Rubbish communication and customer service.
