Carterton Leisure Centre

Fantastic experience: I took my niece to a swimming lesson so have not used the facilities. However, if I lived locally I would definitely join as the gym looks really well equipped. The main toilets are clean. The swimming pool is split, a shallow section suitable for little ones and a main pool. The changing area is big and seems to be clean. The pool side toilets are a bit smelly.

Fantastic experience: I'd reccomend it

Positive experience: Great trampoline and soft play, gym and pool. Wouldn't necessarily call it the cleanest, especially swimming loos and change area. Gets very crowded during changeover at swimming lessons too

Negative experience: Went along on Sunday morning for our baby’s first ever swim. Booked the small pool online but when we arrived it was closed due to it being too cold. We found the larger pool too cold for a very young baby so asked for a refund on our session. We were told to try again another day. I suggested I phone first to check (before a half hour journey) but was told that calls go through to a central hub and they would be unlikely to know the temperature situation. Perhaps if the small pool is closed, people who have booked for that day could be contacted before they set out and a status could be shared on the website to save wasted journeys. Not sure we will bother again.

Fantastic experience: Very nice place clean tidy.

Negative experience: It's empty and the latte coffee came half full (it's just more water ) Quite expensive for just one hour, I shall make the trip to Swindon next time.

Positive experience: Friendly and welcoming. Easy access. Pool is rather on the cold side but the aqua class is fun regardless. Changing areas are ok but shower area and toilets are definitely looking dated. No where to hang towels in the showers without them getting wet. Dry side changing is cold!

Negative experience: Everything is good apart from the trampoline park because I got kicked out for not wearing some stupid socks and then I went back on and some loosers having a birthday think they have special treatment and snitched on me for just sitting down on my phone CHANGE THE RULES

Fantastic experience: Plenty of parking despite being quite busy (additional parking round the back). Pleasant reception staff. Changing rooms are spacious and clean with various size cubicles and separate mens and womens changing if needed. Lockers are £1 refundable. The pool is a good size (probably 25m) but is deep in the middle (1.8m) and shallow at either end (1.2m). There is a separate learner pool.

Negative experience: The swimming pool are to many chemicals in and it's cold. "Main pool" am not sure about the baby pool.

Fantastic experience: I like this place. It’s got some friendly, helpful staff who actually behave like they like being there, no question is too tiresome for them, and the lane swimming is always really civilised. Am in the area for a month only but intend on getting as much exercise done as I can during that time! Their classes look good too.

Fantastic experience: This is a lovely centre,I use the pool, always clean and looked after,the staff are very good and friendly,even when being tested by over enthusiastic kids, would recommend a visit.

Positive experience: I bring my kids here for classes and it would be nice, whilst waiting for them to be able to get refreshments at some point. The last few weeks, the vending machines have always been out of order and the cafe seems permanently shut. This is at 4pm so the cafe at the soft play is shut as well. Other than that, the facilities are good.

Positive experience: Better facilities and in better condition and upkeep than the Windrush Centre in Witney. More pool slots are available for lane swimming as well, and the pool operates for longer hours. So despite living in Witney, I would recommend over the Witney centre

Fantastic experience: Recently joined, went along for my gym induction. Was most impressed with the setup and range of equipment available. Planning to try some of the fitness classes soon.

Positive experience: Awesome trampoline Park and soft play. Great prices compared to everywhere else which is really expensive. Great food but service is very slow. Really need more staff. Party prices are weird. Only an hour in the trampoline park and softplay where as if you pay for just the trampolines you get more time and soft play for as much time as you want.

Negative experience: Water-cold, at least comparing to other centers. Lifeguards start cleaning by pouring water with detergent under your bare feet while you still in there, scandalous. Don't worry about me. No info on website that half of the lanes are taken by swimming lessons. On top of that almost £2 more expensive than centers in Oxford, ferry swimming pool to be exact. Joke.

Positive experience: Fairly small leisure centre for the size of population but has a swimming pool with a children's pool adjoined to it. Has a soft play building attached to the rear of the centre. Worth taking the little ones for a swim and run around.

Positive experience: Decent leisure centre with a community feel. There should be more squat racks in the gym as there is definitely space for it. The sign up process is one of the most confusing and painstaking things I have done online in recent years. Nice staff overall.

Positive experience: A nice and complete pool/gym complex. As a visiter to the area, I thought the walk in rate was a little steep as I am a pensioner. Within the pool area there are signs of a lack of maintenance and the general condition is starting to look a little scruffy. But I must state that everything was clean and tidy.

Negative experience: Swimming changing area often dirty - and despite a relatively recent refit of the area many things broken and looking aged. Despite signs on door saying ‘baby change’ there is no pull down change table - and when enquired was pointed to other facilities which were either locked with no one in them or out of order. Very poor

Negative experience: Trampoline Park. Absolutely CRAZY!!!! Our first visit and within 20 minutes we said "never coming back" when you book, most slots have spaces for 60+ people (as seen online). The second you walk in the door there were no tables/chairs available (most had clothes put on them to reserve!). Obviously being a kids play park, kids were running everywhere, however, they literally were running into you from every angle. No apologies and parents weren't even bothered or corrected their child's manners. When we got to the till to show our code, the sweet young lady straight away apologised for the lack of seating and that management had been told. The staff should NOT be apologising for management's mistakes. The cafe was clean and tidy but no separate seating so make sure to get a table (if you can) before you order anything. No counter worktop clear for trays so I was left balancing a tray with coffees etc on the corner edge. Staff were less than happy to be serving customers in the cafe, no smile, no thank you, nothing. A cost of a small triangle of millionaires shortbread cost £2.20!. You cannot see your kids, so if you want to keep an eye on them you need to buy a ticket just to go in and make sure they are OK. All in all a really rubbish experience, wich is sad. People will say I'm moaning but I just want to have a happy time whilst my kids are playing but it definitely wasn't a happy time.

Fantastic experience: My 7yr old is learning to swim and she's loving the lessons. The progress she has made is amazing! No longer is she afraid of water on her face she's now so excited for the lesson each week. Teachers are great very patient kins and caring! Highly recommend.

Negative experience: Staff unhelpful and quite rude and not sure I'll be going back.

Negative experience: The actual leisure centre (swimming and soft play) is great except the ridiculousness that soft play and trampolining can't coincide at times for no obvious reason. But the 'Better' company its owned by is useless. Can't speak on the phone to anyone ever, and the booking system makes up its own mind if it wants to let you book anything or not. So frustrating .

Negative experience: Never actually made it there as the Better "company" make it impossible to actually book anything or speak to the leisure centre. On the website it lists particular sessions with availability but when you click through to book (if you can find the option on their awful website) the same time and session doesn't show up. I also have the app but on there for the same centre it doesn't show up the activity at all. Absolutely awful and useless system and company

Negative experience: Trying to get through to a person to hire a hall, there are no options to speak to a person or the relevant contact details to make any kind of contact. The automated system is long winded and constantly refers you to the website which does not solve the query... This is definitely NOT BETTER!! should be called worse

Negative experience: This company is one big joke. App doesn't work as it should be. Payments errors, registering takes ages, products not adding to basket. And if you have problem you can always call them to listen automatic informations from website. Company management should be replaced for someone qualified people.

Equipment is not getting cleaned , things are very dirty! There is dirt in areas that has been there since last week. You dont ever see a permanent cleaning team it's just whoever's is free . Shame as its brand new facilities

Positive experience: New gym is absolutely amazing . My only concern is the last couple of times machines have been dirty and dusty. Although customers are wiping machines for courtesy purposes I fear it's not being cleaned properly . Other than that really love the gym and well worth the money you pay. Staff are friendly also

Positive experience: Very good leisure centre, so much on offer here. It is a little pricey in my opinion and the worst bit about this leisure centre is the gym. No very well equipped, good equipment just seems to be mostly cardio very little weights, and for the size of the leisure centre it is a very tiny gym. Just had a trampoline park, soft play added to it. Again, very expensive but good equipment.

Positive experience: This review is about the Gym. Returning to the newly furnished gym with amazing new exuipment was exiting, but took only 2seccinds waking in and wondering if I walked In to the filming set of Love Island and the way is Essex. Good enough for people who want to workout their pervertion but if you are a serious trainer then good luck getting round slll the teenagers taking duck face selfies and more busy looking round their shoulders for attention. Could be a great gym for serous people but unless they have a over 30's session then it's just a youth club for youngsters.

Positive experience: Great place to swim at very cheap prices. Lovely pool, and lovely staff. More of an adult swim than kids tho, no slides but still great atmosphere.

Negative experience: We wanted to join this leisure centre as a family of 4 but they don't offer family rate plus opening hours mentioned on their website 6 am but they are open 6.30 am which is misleading and disappointing.

Negative experience: We tried out the new trampolining park and soft play. It had been open for 4 weeks. On arrival the place is chaotic! No clear signing in place, not enough tables, no lockers for personnel items (but apparently it’s safe just to leave around). We brought our own trampolining socks from another trampolining place but we couldn’t use them costing us more money (only xmas trampolining socks available to by in Jan). The letter we had to print off apparently didn’t need printing off as they don’t have a scanner. In the trampolining area some adults didn’t have wristbands and some did? Soft play seemed good but it’s not in the right orientation so you can not see your kids play or any potential issues (lots of kids were coming it crying when we were in there). Staff were polite and tying their best in the circumstances. Hopefully when the place settles down a bit and works finished it will improve. However it seemed quite expensive and therefore I won’t be back for a while!

Positive experience: Tried out the new trampoline Park. Great fun but be careful when you go. If it's too busy it's not so much fun.

Positive experience: It's an ok facility overall. But the new trampoline part is a bit silly. Cashless cafe!! And no one seems to know what's going on. Maybe its teeting problems, and will be sorted. But cashless cafe is just silly. Oh and beware as you are not tole before hand you have to pay £2.30 for some socks. And as above you cant use cash!!
