Negative experience: I come here mainly to swim. The positives is that it is very affordable and well kept. The changing rooms and pool area are always clean. There is paid parking which is also very cheap, I think around £1 an hour. However my main issue is that there are always kids swimming lessons taking place, well at least every time I have been. Weekends, weekdays, midday, afternoons. I understand it is profitable for them however it is not a good experience for other members who are crowded into a tiny area of the pool without lanes, as half of the pool is always used for lessons. Most times it is difficult to swim laps because of this issue of overcrowding

Fantastic experience: Honestly its a lovely gym

Negative experience: Horrible.they kicked me out of the pool because they wanted me to swim from 1 side to the other and i havnt swan in 2 years and when i say i cant he kicks me out. Most of it is for lessons aswell so it is very loud and children are screaming everywhere.horrible. I want to tear that place down soo badly. If you are not finding morden liesure centre suitible i would recommend cheam leasure as they ar very leanient on there swimming policy and only try to keep you safe and keep an eye out for everybody. Lessons are held separately at different times and the staff is very helpful and kind

Negative experience: Worst place for swimming lessons. Always running later or under staffed. No progress reviews or updates. Different people teaching every lesson. First 10minutes they jump up and down or catch hoops under water.

Fantastic experience: I joined this center in August.after my initial induction with waz-i decided to give his power pump class a go on a Tuesday.Well...all I can say is WOW! Fantastic class with a brilliant coach. This will get you really working and feeling the burn.Waz is fantastic,so encouraging and upbeat. Now so look forward to the class.Everyone is welcoming and friendly and it's just a real good workout.

Negative experience: The only reason I joined this gym was for the swimming which I never got to do because there is never a free space to book, it s the same with all their classes they only get released 7 days in advance and you can never book anything, all classes are fully booked I barely went to a few yoga classes, some of the instructors are really unprofessional ( when I was a new member I thought I can also write my name on a list when joining a class on a Sunday given how rubbish their booking system is but no the instructor didn't let me join even tho she could have been nice and explain the rules and next time I would have known, cheap market behaviour from her anyway), and after seeing the way they clean in this gym I am really glad now that I didn t set foot in that swimmingpool..yuk..

Fantastic experience: Staff are friendly and efficient. The changing rooms are always clean and both the pool area and gym area are tidy and comfortable.

Negative experience: Swimming session prices are extortionate. The swimming pool is shallow and is not that great quality and to charge a high price for only 45 minutes is ridiculous. There is a far better alternative for women only swimming in new Malden so if you have the ability to travel there, I'd recommend doing so. Better price, pool and timing for women only sessions in New Malden

Negative experience: I love this gym, I really do. We take 3 classes a week. So, why only 2 stars? Myself and my daughter are disabled. There are also other disabled members. No-one monitors the disabled area of parking which is right outside the gym with the main car park maybe 100 hundred yards away. I have now had 3 altercations with people who have been in bays we have needed. One man was really aggresive and was there to walk his dog and left his child in the car! He asked me if I was the disabled parking police... Things got heated, when I went to get my phone he raced off. It's worse with bad weather or when parents bring their chidren to use the new gym equipment outside. It's as if they're called drop off or waiting bays. There needs to be a barrier where we can scan our badges to raise it. Then there are the disabled toilets. They need a radar key as people go in there to have a poo so no-one can smell it in the main toilets. This includes gym staff/trainers. All of this makes what should be wellbeing activities very stressful. I've mesaged the gym and had no response.

Negative experience: Weird centre with no atmosphere at all. Dirty changing cubicles that looked like they hadn’t been cleaned properly for a long time. The no shoes policy in the changing room would have been fine, but staff regularly came in and out wearing theirs. Bored and disinterested staff, the only saving grace was the lady on reception who was very nice. The staff radio left in the cafe was so loud and we all heard about the situation they were facing, and could they meet in the female changing rooms. This centre could be so much better.

Negative experience: Took ages to book on the system. What happened to just turning up for a swim. Everything is money, money, money, nowadays. We booked swim for all for 2 adults and 2 under 4's. We got there, and the small pool was full of children learning to swim. The big pool was, again, full of children learning to swim. Our so-called swim for all was in a tiny area. It was about 10 foot by 20. Full of people trying to teach their kids to swim. We will never return here. There are many better places, evennifvyou have to drive to Guildford.

Positive experience: I didn't like: I have to take off my shoes. After that my socks were wet. Not funny at wintertime, at all. and I don't want to leave my shoes on a corridor with other shoes. Someone takes them home: and I don't have shoes, anymore. It happened with me once, (not in Morden).Someone wanted all my clothes and shoes... It was very embarrassing on the bus in bikini and flip flops.) The wardrobe works with £1. I took with me a lock. The wardrobes are very small and far from your changing room. The staff was very helpful! The receptionists ladies and the life guards were very helpful, friendly and kind. Compares to Wimbledon Leisure Centre: the life guards are not so grumpy like in Wimbledon. You are not theres enemy in Morden, but a guest. I left Wimbledon because the life guards always say for you some ugly words and ruin your Sunday with it. P.S.: I can not attach photos; the swimming pool is not good place for it. People have human rights. + my hands are wet.

Positive experience: New facility built in 2018. Have only used the swimming facilities. Prebooking for 50 minute slots which is quite short with kids. Can't get in unless a member of staff is at the front desk. Shoes have to be left outside the changing room so at least the floor stays clean. No private showers to have a proper shower after your swim, only the 3 that are poolside before you leave the female changing room so you can't wash yourself or hair without people in view. Toilets inside were clean though. No free parking anymore, only 3 hours free for disabled users. All other cars have to park in the car park, £1.40 on Ring go for 2 hours.

Positive experience: I have enjoyed it so far. I'm a skilled swimmer and I mainly use the pool and do yoga. So far I have been mostly happy with the centre. Pool is decent. Gym looks well enough equipped. Some improvements that could be made: greater availability for classes outside of regular work hours(8am-6pm), better accommodation for skilled swimmers(having one lane for each slow, medium, fast swimmers) rather than only accomodating for slow and medium swimmers as well as hosting skilled swim clubs for adults. Otherwise, beautiful location, friendly staff, very affordable and I'm happy to stay with this gym. It just sliiightly misses the mark for my needs.

Negative experience: Poorly run and many defects which are never repaired. Considering this place was newly built and only opened 5 years ago, it's in a state. There are many showers that don't work, many many lockers with broken or missing locks, many changing cubicles with defects or broken door locks, many basin taps not working or very loose. It seems the management have no plans to do any maintenance, and just let the place gradually fall in to disrepair. They can't even bother to put "out of order" signs on faulty shower cubicles. Also the cleaning is very poor. The floors get an occasional mop, but the debris and staining up the sides of changing and shower cubicles never get cleaned. I've been coming here over 10 months now, and the changing cubicles have not been cleaned at all during that time. Also there's loads of chewing gum stuck all over the place. It seems the cleaners must all be registered blind, as they fail to notice any of the filth, snot smears, stains, chewing gum etc etc. See the photos i've added as a few examples. Also the scheduling for the swimming pool is poor. Swim for fitness ( lane swimming ) is one of the most popular activities, yet they only put sessions on early in the mornings, when most people are getting ready and going to work, or late in the evening. Nothing during the day on weekdays. Nearly the whole day is allocated to swim for all, where there's generally a few parents with toddlers, and a few elderly, and the lane swimmers have to try and dodge the kids and elderly. Not ideal, and it's dangerous. The lifeguards all seem totally uninterested as well, staring at the clock or day dreaming. Rather than paying attention to aggressive and dangerous swimmers, or the mass of OAP's that tend to stand chatting for most of swim for fitness sessions, often blocking the whole end of the pool, so you can't complete a length, touch the end and go again. It's supposed to be SWIM for fitness, NOT stand chatting for fitness.... Having asked several staff and supervisors about the poor level of cleaning, maintenance defects, or if they could add a session or two of "swim for fitness" during the day, they were mostly rude and dismissive. It's just poorly organised, with mostly uninterested staff, and poorly managed all round.

Kevin Rye 1 year ago

Negative experience: Unstaffed reception, a booking process that doesn't allow casual/non registered users, meaning that to have a quick swim takes time to register, login etc etc. All I wanted to do today was to grab a quick swim, but I had to give up, because what should be a one minute process takes at least five or more if the user isn't registered. They really need to rethink their customer service policy because it's really quite poor.

Enis Alegber 1 year ago

Positive experience: Decent gym area, friendly staff and kept clean for the most part. Only (frequent as of lately) issue is the water tap breaking every 2 weeks and having to pay for water at the bar downstairs and if you’ve arrived past the bar’s closing time, you’re basically out looking for water in the Sahara desert. The hot tap water in the bathroom’s not a very appealing option either. All good apart from that and the slightly insane monthly fee of £40.

Fantastic experience: The 'new' pool is a pleasure to swim in. Shame LBM didn't invest in a 33m pool which would be more attractive to clubs competing at elite level.

Negative experience: Good facilities but there is one worker who has a terrible attitude, accused me of not having a membership and booking and was giving a poor attitude because I went 15 minutes over booking time in the gym. By accident as they haven't changed the clock time to 1 hour behind. I was so into the session until I was rudely interrupted by him. He should be taught how to deal with customers in a mature way.

Positive experience: I went to Morden leisure centre for a swim. I wanted a day pass and was directed to an iPad where I gave a lot of information I thought to be excessive for somebody about to swim for 30/40 minutes. This does not reflect on the leisure centre of course but it did take me a good 5 minutes or so to sign up. Went to the changing room where patrons were asked to remove their shoes before entering. I thought this was fair enough to prevent dirt coming in from the outside but it did look a bit untidy and could have benefitted from a shoe rack. The swimming changing room lockers required a £1 coin to operate. This is fairly standard practice (despite the fact the gym lockers upstairs allow the user to use their own lock without a £1 coin). I was, however, very aggrieved when I asked the leisure centre cafe to borrow £1, or to break a note which I had, to learn that the leisure centre was completely cashless. This is completely contradictory to have a cashless leisure centre which requires users to have cash for the security of their property. I had to spend a good 20/30 minutes procuring £1 outside, visiting a number of shops in the surrounding area. I found the staff in the leisure centre to be largely unhelpful in my quest, and think this represents a severe flaw in the running of this establishment. The swimming pool itself was fairly clean and once i had £1 to stow my belongings I was content with the rest of my visit. I visited on a bank holiday Sunday and it wasn’t too busy. I would urge the management of this leisure centre to rethink its locker payment system.

Fantastic experience: Gym with a view! I have been going to this gym for 18 months. Fantastic facilities, good free weights area, lots of weight and exercise machines, good pool (although the spectating area is small). All areas kept clean. There is even a cafe with drinks and snacks. This all said, the best thing about Morden Leisure Centre is the fitness class instructors Their energy is boundless, and the encouragement and support are truly on another level . It has been a 'Life changing' experience for my wife, son and I. Every day is a great day when it's gym day at Morden Leisure Centre. THANK YOU

Positive experience: Would of been 5 stars but I had to walk out of the Zumba class today ( Tuesday 10 am). The instructor doesn't show at all what are we going to dance, she was just doing everything full speed, that supposed to be a class for all (not advanced), and even if was advanced she still should off showed us what are we going to dance slowly first. I've done many Zumba classes before this was 1st time to be disappointed. On other note, lovely swimming pool and pilate classes.

Negative experience: I used this gym for the first time today and am nothing but disappointed. £35 to use this gym off peak is a laugh - the gym itself is minuscule with no warm up areas, too many cardio machines and a weights area the size of a living room. The weights area was also hogged by 'muscle men', some of whom were sitting there in their coats with nothing better to do than ogle at the lone woman lifting; Oh and good luck getting hold of any plates as for some reason people like to hoard them by the machines they are 'using'. I'm now cancelling my membership and am pretty peeved that I've wasted over £60 on the initial membership fees for this place.

Stephen K 2 years ago

Positive experience: Facilities clean. Staff friendly. I just joined and did not realise I needed a coin for locker. This was last Sunday 4.12 but there was a lovely lady at reception who lent me her token, I left back on the desk hope you got it. Minus one star for having to pay parking, does not make much sense, could understand in built up residential area but this is not. Maybe do 2 hrs free and charge there after would be a good option to stop all day parking. I am in between Mitcham and this centre if car parking is free at mitcham I will probably change membership. The fee is 1.20 for 2 hrs but if you go 5 days a week becomes 6, then over a month is an extra 24 on top of membership.

Amy Ta 2 years ago

Negative experience: The shower area is filthy. Full of hairs and foam no one cares about them the changing rooms are dirty with rude graffiti on the walls that no one cares to clean them! There used to be shoe covers for the parents when dropping and collecting. Due to COVID they have left this service. After COVID, the fee has raised but the shoe cover service did not come back. The manager and his assistant are rude and unprofessional, too. I had tried to raise the issues with them but they were very defensive and just justifying their incompetent! Waste of money!

Fantastic experience: I renewed my membership recently and mistakenly selected the wrong one. I addressed my issue to one of the staff members at this gym, her name is Tinuke, she was very friendly and welcoming. She really went out her way to serve me and she was able to resolve my problem. I am grateful for her help. The gym and swimming facilities are excellent and I like the location of the gym. I would definitely recommend people to use this gym.

Fantastic experience: Excellent centre with great facilities. Everything is very modern and well-maintained. Classes and swimming sessions still need to be pre-booked, but this stops things from getting too busy. The gym can be accessed at any time and is relatively quiet outside of peak times. Staff are friendly and helpful - queries around my membership were quickly resolved. The café is a nice addition to the centre and offers much appreciated respite after tough classes.

Katherine Gudgeon 2 years ago

Positive experience: Nice leisure centre with good amenities. Air con in the gym can be a bit hit and miss; there is a lack of staff there to clean/put things back and the whole building is filthy as they seem to clean in the morning rather than evenings, so going first thing is grim. The grassed area is where you can see it most - literally just needs a good hoover twice a day. It's a shame that they covered half the windows with mirrors in the weights area, as it a nice building with natural light, or was! Met a great PT there though and stay as a member only because of him - one of the redeeming qualities!

Negative experience: Swimming pools review!! Negatives:Not suitable for children as you pay a full price just to use 1/5 of the swimming pool. There’s a red line indicator for children where they can’t swim even under constant direct supervision of a parent/adult. Showers are cold , no eco friendly shower soap on display, no swimming pool noodle or floats available for children . No sauna, no jacuzzi , no outdoor patio-nothing special. For a new build in south of London is very odd place. Positives: Although It’s neat park next to the gym , car park is big , staff is friendly , the small caffe/shop is OK , local .

Positive experience: It's a perfect place to enjoy swimming. Still feels new and clean. Only issue for me is the booking system - if I want to go with my son to the secondary pool and there is only 1 ticket available for that hour, it will obviously remain unsold, you wouldn't let you 2 year old to the pool alone, would you? And I see this 1 entry remaining all over the schedule. And don't take me wrong, I understand the limit of people that should be in the pool at the same time, but if you have 10 unsold tickets a day, 70 a week etc. The center is losing money, and we can't enjoy the pool. They should be more flexible. So yeah, aside of that facilitates are great.

Teresa Jimenez 3 years ago

Negative experience: My daughter joined the junior gym at Morden Leisure Centre for her mental health wellbeing. Unfortunately, it is impossible to book any sessions in the gym due to over subscription on the junior gym membership and the limited spaces that are available for the kids. So we have been paying for a service we have not been able to use. The centre is aware and there have been numerous complaints but the centre have done absolutely nothing to remedy this issue. I have today cancelled the membership and will find my daughter another gym. So if you are thinking of signing your child up be careful you do not end up wasting your money like we have!

Positive experience: A clean, modern place that looks nice. It was an enjoyable experience especially compared to some other better branches which are... Filth! It could have 5 stars but like any pool now days, it does not feel free flowing- it feels restrictive. if it was less restrictive and my kids could hop from baby pool to big pool like we always did or just leave in our own time like we always did, it would feel a nicer experience. The staff are nice but had to screech on the hour that it’s time to leave, secondly making sure the pool is fully emptied in between slots (having to leave right on time) I felt forced out. I know covid is over- the strict regimen on either side of that 50 min slot (on time to get in, on time to get out) basically is too restrictive n ruins the experience. Living in any necessary policy so it feels.

Negative experience: Been going here near a year and I've finally had enough of trying to go here for a swim with my family... You pay £13 to access what turns out to be at best 1/5 of the 25m pool because the rest is being used by lessons. You've got people doing lengths getting annoyed that you're obviously in the way, but if you've got a not fully capable swimmer i.e a child your restricted to a maybe 30m2 section (behind the deep water line) so you end up being ruthlessly selfish and just trying to get on with it, you then get out and have to go into the changing room where there's atleast 20 parents and small children all stood in the showers fully clothed waiting for their other child thats in a lesson get them out the way and then youll go into the lockers to find everybody's abandoned their clothes in EVERY changing room. Would go along way the lifeguards who can see the shower entances to tell these people its a changing room not a waiting room send them out to the cafe or upstairs

Amanda Hobson 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Nice staff member at the front desk, great that there is a family changing room as well as separate ones for men and women, the buggy park is a great idea. The family pool referred to as the secondary pool online was not busy at all and very clean. I'd have preferred it warmer but it wasn't too bad for the adults once we got used to it but I was worried about the baby being cold. I never have cash these days so it would be great if they would upgrade their buggy park and lockers which need coins s we weren't able to use them.

Positive experience: My sons do swimming lessons here. Great diving pool with a height adjustable floor. Which gets moved to increase and decrese the depth depending on you're child's age and capability. Being as they do baby swimming lessons the pool water could be warmer for them as well as the pool area.

Positive experience: There should be more ladies changing rooms. The swimming pool was lovely. The water had the perfect temperature.

Fantastic experience: It’s definitely warmer and cleaner than Wimbledon leisure centre.

Fantastic experience: It's nice and clean. The best part is that it has a big car park.

Positive experience: Lovely place for swimming, warm pools. A separate pool for young children next to the main pool. Only downside was the cleanliness of the changing rooms - clumps of hair and dirt. Not very pleasant with their no flip-flop policy!

Fantastic experience: Modern, clean, bright, nice place to swim, parking is an issue Sunday morning.

Fantastic experience: No complaints. Have only used the swimming pool. Its clean, water is clear and not over crowded. Not much else to add.

Negative experience: The changing rooms here are absolutely disgusting. There's a clear sign telling people to take off their shoes before entering and yet muddy footprints are all over the floor. Why can't the staff enforce simple hygiene rules?

Negative experience: Useless. No pool swimming available, but the website to book doesn't make that clear. Really poor customer service, a wasted trip and a waste of money paid to park in the adjacent car park.

Positive experience: The center looks new and is close to us. Unfortunately this all positive I can say. Don't get me wrong it's a great space for kids swimming. But that it's all. Can't say that is an adult place. There's no space to swim as there are few free slots and few lanes where you fill like cattle. There isn't other swimming pool for adults around. In Oxfordshire we had plenty of centres and they were open till 11pm. It's frustrating and hopefully more centers will open over the years to cover Morden area. Can't recommend sorry.

Negative experience: Awful. Will not be going back. We got a 50 minute slot. You're told not to turn up early. We booked online but then had to wait to get in. The lady in front of us had a million questions she wanted to ask. By the time we got through the barrier and into the leisure centre we had 40 minutes left. You have to take your shoes off before you go in the changing room. This is OK till you want to use the toilet and realise the floor is covered in urine. We got changed as quickly as possible. As we walked into the pool side the kids jumped in the first pool which is 90cm depth. We then went to go into the main pool but were stopped. As we had been in the baby pool we were not allowed in the main pool. There are no signs up anywhere stating this ridiculous rule we then spent the remainder of our time in the baby pool with the children moaning how bored they were and crying that they wanted to go in the proper pool. We won't be going back. I'd recommend giving this place a swerve and going somewhere else. The staff are a right miserable bunch too.

Fantastic experience: Nice place, clean and tidy. But the cafe is never open to get a drink while waiting for swimming lessons. Since this review they seem to have the cafe open most weekends, staff are friendly

Fantastic experience: New and well equipped facility! Staff friendly and helpful. Both swimming pools well kept and clean. Update, this only for me...pricing is high for membership and you have to pay for parking weekdays as well as Saturday mornings. Staff although friendly are not well informed as will always direct you to the website for any questions I may have. They are not interested in selling you membership and have no sales savvy. Sorry excellent facilities but not interested in selling memberships or giving price reducing opportunities.

Positive experience: Nice gym close to my house however a little pricey and too many cardio machines compared to the rest, the weights area always packed.

Positive experience: It was my first visit at "Better" in Morden.Happy with pool facilities. However I was expecting a bit more friendly & informative staff at the reception. I hope my experience will be "better" next time.

Negative experience: I was previously a member of this gym when it was on the old site. So I was delighted when they decided to knock that one down and build a new one,and I definitely haven’t been disappointed. The gym is always clean and the staff are fantastic, and the prices are great. Even the people that use the gym are so friendly,it doubles as a social club. Especially for these hard times we’re all going through right now,it’s a perfect place to engage with other people. Hopefully will be coming here for the foreseeable future So 2 years after my review and unfortunately I have to update my review. But sad to say not for positive reasons. As I said in my last post I have been using this gym from day one of opening and since then the gym has become slightly run down and neglected. The machines are in dire need of updating or refurbishing. Some are loose and some are always out of order and they don’t get fixed for ages. Also the water fountain has been out of order for over 2 weeks. That’s definitely not on especially when it’s 32 degrees outside. You would think that they will provide you with cold bottled water at least. The membership goes up every year but we don’t really get value for money at the moment. This doesn’t take the fact away that the staff are amazing that’s the gyms saving grace and the reason I still come here. Please make some changes
