Deans Sport & Leisure: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Great
Negative experience: They create problems when you cancel your membership
Fantastic experience: Nice place for badminton. Affordable rate.
Fantastic experience: From the welcome you get when you arrive, to the clean facilities, to the operations of keeping the gym tidy, the quality of the gym and the price makes this place unbeatable. I recommend this gym to everybody! Leave being self conscious at the door, good community, and VERY CLEAN. Bex & Stacie at reception are awesome and very approachable
Fantastic experience: Has everything you need and the staff are friendly ☺️
Positive experience: Nice place. I love the variety of other sports options like tennis other than the gym.
Positive experience: Great place the spa pool is fantastic especially for people who have learning disabilities but now it's not in use as they can't afford to run it absolutely gutted it was such a lovely place to go and relax
Fantastic experience: Always very welcoming receptionists and very clean compared to most gyms, great price too!
Negative experience: STAY AWAY! Don't trust this place. During my time at uni, I was a member at the gym. At first it was okay for a beginner but the pool was not in operation. But then, COVID hit and my circumstances changed. There was a lack of communication on the gym's part and the communication that was evident was not clear and caused confusion regarding the freezing of memberships. Through the period of COVID restrictions, I was not in the area and I was made to believe that my account was frozen and that everything was fine. I had sent multiple emails to confirm this and called twice to make sure things were fine. Emails were confusing but the phone calls confirmed that I had nothing to worry about. However, I did not notice that all this time month after month, money was coming out of my account and nothing was frozen. I was robbed. I asked for a refund and didn't get a penny back. Altogether I had gone twice or three times in total to the gym at the start of my membership but ended up paying for a full academic year so ended up the most expensive gym I've ever seen. They knew what they were doing but whether they technically did anything wrong or not, they are not to be trusted. Their phone calls are not recorded and that is the place where they were very clear with me saying that I had nothing to worry about and what I just can't understand is how they can be so selfish. Let's say there was some misunderstanding and it was my mistake, first of all, it was a misunderstanding partly because of their communication so at least give me something back, but secondly, I went three times to the gym at the very start! How is it fair to be charged for a whole year?! It is outrageous and I warn everybody to stay away from this place because they just care about the money and a company like that can't call itself a company. They've been receiving money from a broke student during the pandemic for free without offering a service of any sort. Even if it was my mistake, sure keep an additional month for my mistake but not the whole year especially knowing that I only attended a few times in total. STAY AWAY!
Fantastic experience: Very nice. Firendly staff specialy Will he is very kind and profesional.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic facilities, fantastic prices and fantastic friendly staff. What more do you need to enjoy your exercise.
Negative experience: Good facilities let down by poor organisation, twice in a row they've double booked a court so we turned up for nothing
Positive experience: Usually it is fine and I go there once a week. Nice facilities and nice staff. But today we drove all the way there to play badminton again and realised they booked the wrong time, so we could not play. I am pretty sure it was them who made the mistake as I wouldn't make a booking at dinner time. Quite disappointing because I have been looking forward to the relax time once a week but they made the mistake. I hope there will be a better system in the future like booking confirmation so similar problem will not happen again.
Fantastic experience: I booked for playing badminton, the court was great, well maintained and its great value for money
Fantastic experience: Went today and seemed very professional. Receptionists wearing uniform and very pleasant and helpful. E mails and bookings were actioned very promptly . Gym its self has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and has plenty of equipment as access is restricted once a volume of people has been reached . Very good
Negative experience: Paid my Deans Lincoln gym membership on 2020 £150 ( gym and spa only). I had to renew it today and I was told that it was 175 for gym without spa or over £200 for gym and spa. Since I can not use the facilities as often as I would like I opted for just paying one gym day and one spa day, unfortunately spa can not paid for just one day. By the way, none of the prices are publicly showed in your web nor in your Facebook. Very disappointed with the new decisions, I quit this gym after using it for almost 5 years. My point is: if I have to pay more, then there is better value in other local gyms. I understand that without profit you go out of business, but that happens also without clients.
Fantastic experience: Good table tennis tables, but shocking nets.
Positive experience: Very good
Fantastic experience: Amazing garen plays lad
Negative experience: Their staff and facilities are ok, but their system are horrible. Joined on the last week of the month and I was charged for the whole month "pro-rata" they call it. Cancelled my membership, now you have to pay for the following month before you could leave. Try other sports facilities.
Fantastic experience: The staff are great always say hello and it has all the equipment you need to get in shape and i always love a visit to there sauna and spa pool after a good work out to help me relax after a intense work out
Fantastic experience: Great annual membership price for students. Good facilities and booking system.
Positive experience: Well equipped with different facilities. Played badminton there and really enjoyed it. They had climbing wall but due to no use from the public it has been removed. Facilities are nice clean and well maintained. Worth visiting.
Positive experience: Their spa is a good place to chill and relax on the weekend. Unfortunately, they tend to close it for whatever reason. The explanation normally would be something like: for maintenance. It happens so regularly, that it is getting hard to plan and affects weekend plans.
Fantastic experience: Excellent sports facility
Fantastic experience: Very reasonable and good facilities
Negative experience: DANGEROUS showers, water comes out like it's from a kettle only a matter of time before someone is hurt ,been like this since last year but never fixed. Seems as though they don't want to spend any money on maintenance or cleaning as the showers are mouldy and dirty and quite a lot of gym equipment is damaged. But, the staff are friendly and price is reasonable.
Positive experience: Friendly and efficient
Positive experience: Deans offers much more than a gym as the Clinical Herbalism and Acupuncture BSc courses run training clinics on site. Acupuncture is only £15 per session and the herbal consultation is free, but you pay a reasonable price for any herbal medicine you may need. The Complementary Therapy Level 5 course has also started offering treatments there, too, so Deans is a good place to visit for your health and wellness
Positive experience: Fantastic place and supportive staff
Fantastic experience: Convenient parking opposite (only with permission - must display badge in car). Deans has friendly helpful reception staff and clean, well-equipped premises.
Fantastic experience: Untold times here the gym and spa is great
Fantastic experience: Nice place to workout and relax and there work really polite people
Positive experience: Lovely spa
Positive experience: Great staff and building however the gym size is very small compare to other gyms. It has all the equipment needed but nothing special that makes the gym unique. I've tried a couple of classes there which has been great fun and nothing to complain about.
Fantastic experience: Great hidden gem
Positive experience: Great little gym. Nice staff and variety of facilities.
Fantastic experience: Visit the climbing room here every so often and must say it's a great facility. The atmosphere is very calm and conducive to a solo focused bouldering session. Love the fact that chalk is banned - no horrible dust floating around in the air. Liquid chalk is a much preferable option and enables more difficult routes to be completed. Had a short training session this evening following a significant lay-off period and was mightily impressed with the routes that can be created using a judicious selection of holds - recommend the main overhang using a combination of the grey and yellow holds. Might be an idea to have a way of recording the various routes in the room. For example, a simple note-book so that climbers can give technical grades to routes created/completed. The reception staff are always friendly and helpful. Check it out for a zen-like bouldering session!
Positive experience: Went to enquire about joining. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Positive experience: Ok
Positive experience: Booked a badminton court here. Price was good, and we were able to run over our time slot slightly to finish the game we were on. But floor is quite slippy which is fine for casual players, but not competitive
Fantastic experience: Best spa I've ever been. Good place to relax and recharge your energy.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: Staff are friendly and approachable. They have different different schedule for gym classes which are really good. Lunch time classes are fun too.
Fantastic experience: My one stop hangover cure
Positive experience: Really nice spa area, and classrooms, the staff are all friendly and willing to help really good place to be
Positive experience: Opening hours are getting shorter, there is something out of order constantly and it takes sometimes days before it gets fixed. Not the cleanest especially the spa.
Negative experience: Poor customer service from receptionist. Not showing around anything and leaves clueless impression of their own facilities.
Positive experience: Good facility
Fantastic experience: great relaxing place
Fantastic experience: Often do deals for 12 months membership for £150 which includes everything
Positive experience: For all you're indoor recreational sports
Positive experience: Broken promises. Staff I thought were great, listening to my concerns about showers scalding hot and various other things not working. However, after a month of checking every other day to see what had been done about it I gave up. It seems they either did nothing about it or whoever looks after the maintenance decided anything broken was simply not a priority for them. I used the gym (great space, modern equipment could just do with a smith machine) and the spa is top notch. A lovely place, you just need to sort it out a bit!
Positive experience: Fitness suite excellent changing area not so good very cramped with three people in trying to change and shower also only two shower cubicles and one toilet in changing area.
Positive experience: The staff were friendly and the pool was great particularly for those who are extra sensory with its lighting and bubbles switches and power shower included ideal for a sensory relax.
Negative experience: Spa facilities have massively improved since i last came. I did however inform a member of staff about the male changing room showers being covered in yellow body fat, i did see someone go in there and do a basic clean but this wasn't what was needed and made no improvement. Yellow body fat on your hands and feet is discusting when your trying to have a shower. Especially when its an easy problem to sort out!
Fantastic experience: We go to do judo here
Positive experience: A local centre for all activities/sports. Just using the gym can be busy with student classes during the day but equipment is up to date & some equipment not needing electronics it has.
Positive experience: Looks nice.but theres always something broken . and the amount of chlorine in the water ...
Positive experience: Nice place, clean and tidy. Raising squash prices to be in 'line' with badminton is a bit silly, considering the court is smaller, and the courts are still dirty, increased prices by 50% with no visible improvement
Fantastic experience: Gym and facilities are really great. Got a great deal, so if you're interested in joining keep your eyes peeled for deals. They release new ones every few months
Negative experience: Why is there no zero stars!! Terrible customer service. Disinterested staff and instructors. Instructor mumbled, yawned and made sarcastic comments through the group induction and only managed to show us how a third of the equipment worked. Information given on sign up was miss leading (even when I asked direct questions on what 'no contract' meant) causing me to be told I owe them money when I told the duty manager I was not given a copy of the terms and conditions she replied "We give them to everyone.... Well it would be your word against ours". Personally I can not stand people with a 'not our problem' approach to conflict resolution.
Positive experience: My son does Judo here and I've always found the staff to be very friendly. I've also used the bouldering wall which is quite fun and challenging even though it's not all that big.
