Wickford Swim and Fitness Centre

Fantastic experience: The centre is always busy with all the different activities available. The staff are very nice and the facilities are well maintained and clean. The only down side is the lack of parking at times.

Negative experience: Went in the other day and heard one of the managers shouting at a staff who I saw was trying to work not going back if that how they treat they staff

Negative experience: The gym has really gone downhill. It has become a real sweat box, and does not seem to have any air flowing through it. This makes it very sweaty in there, and leaves all the machines very sticky. I visited this afternoon, and not even any spray to wipe down equipment after using it. Needs a good clean, and a lot of TLC.

Fantastic experience: I take my children here swimming every week for a few years now and found nothing but professional and fun instructors. (Cheryl and Ben are our favourite)!!! Would definitely recommend taking your munchkins here.

Negative experience: I can only comment on the swimming lessons they offer for children. Within 6 months my daughter did not progress at all. The teacher never got in the pool after the first week (not sure how you can teach inexperienced swimmers from side of pool!) and made her jump in first session with no arm bands which petrified her. After seeing 0 improvement in her swimming ability I changed schools. Within 4 weeks of being taught by 2 teachers both in the pool she can swim independently and has already moved up a level! In short, do not recommend these classes.

Fantastic experience: It's a great place. The staff are friendly and helpful and so are the people that go there. I love going there. I highly recommend it. My thanks to them. A year later I think the same and I now attend the gym which is great and i highly recommend all of the activities there.

Positive experience: Really enjoyed the swimming experience. Facilities were clean. Staff were helpful. However, there was nothing on the app that I could find ( staff also agreed) that told you the process of cancelling a booking that had previously been booked and paid for if someone could not attend. To be told you had to phone at least 4hrs beforehand would have been useful to know. Overall I would recommend.

Negative experience: The pool is so dirty. Can do with a little cleaning. My little one kept itching after her swiming lessons. You can actually see the dirt inside the pool.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant little swimming pool. Front desk staff very friendly. Prebooking is required for a 1 hour slot but this means the relatively small pool is not crowded. Note the changing rooms are gendered so split your gear accordingly. Lockers require £1 coin. Parking is free at the weekend.

Negative experience: Appreciate it was a family swim but there was a group of 8 to 10, very disruptive and bombing swimmers. I did comment and complain as did some other swimmers but there was zero interest so will not be returning. Pool looks tired and changing rooms have no locks

Fantastic experience: With everything that's happened this year having a casual splash about with the kids was the last thing we thought we would be able to do.... but then..... a friend of ours told us about the local Gym (Wickford Swim and Fitness) where our kids have swimming lessons one a week outside of Covid madness, and how well they had set things up. We booked a time slot for a Sunday morning, which was restricted to 45 minutes, but also ensured no more than 25 people would be in the pool during that slot, including us 4. When we arrived the male and female changing rooms had been turned into an in and out changing room with a one way system that meant you got ready in the one and took your bags into the pool area with you where you could leave them on the seating areas while you swam. The "in" changing room was then locked off while we were happily splashing about for our 45 minutes of fun in the lovely warm pool, almost forgetting the carnage of the outside covid world. At the ending which the entrance to the "out" changing room was opened allowing us and the other families that had shared the slot to get dried and changed with plenty of social distance between us. A once everyone was in the "out" changing room the entrance was closed and we effectively had the next 45 minutes to get changed, deal with the kids, and casually make our way out of the fire exit, without passing anyone other than the pool staff. We had great fun, didn't feel uncomfortable or unsafe at any point, and thoroughly enjoyed our albeit slightly restricted slice of swimming normality!!

Fantastic experience: This is my first time taking my daughter back to swimming lesson can say they have worked really hard at making everyone feel safe and was clean and all safety measures in place much better than how we were crammed in before

Negative experience: Place is ok for the price however my experience is destroyed by rude and miserable looking receptionists. They have never been friendly or helpful to me. Customer service in that place is a disaster.

Negative experience: Air con is never switched on (especially in classes) teachers are always late for class (not sure how they havent figured out they need to leave time to park yet) studios are never opened when teachers are running late so there is no time to set up equipment in advance which delays classes more, there are never any staff members on the gym floor. Class registers never taken which means there are always more people in the class than can fit, i have been knocked by someone elses weights in body pump and when i complained it was too crowded and dangerous lady on reception said 'yes it was busy' didnt care less about health and safety. I only contine to come here as I can walk. Such sinple things could improve this place but overall staff complacency lets it down.

Positive experience: The Dippers disabled swimming club use this facility on Saturday afternoons.Great for those that might be recouping after a hip opp for example,and has been advised that gentle water based exercise would help. Lift to get into water available

Positive experience: Lovely pool on the centre of Wickford. Opens early and closes late, ideal for someone who wants to go for an early morning or late night swim. The pool is used by the local school so will experience a limited timetable during the school week. Staff are friendly and helpful. Pool area and changing rooms are very clean and monitored frequently. Website for the pool is a bit confusing. I found it quite difficult to find the pool timetable. (I think this is due to improvements still being made to the site though) Overall a great place to come for a quiet swim of to bring your family.

Positive experience: Small pool but clean and well maintained. There is now a gym attached to the pool. Parking is a pain very small carpark at rear which you pay for, but you can claim your money back at the pool. The car park get very busy and sometimes you will need to use the carpark across the road, a couple of minute walk.

Positive experience: Please note that his is NOT the exact location for Wickford Swimming Pool but Google won't let me amend it as someone classed my change as incorrect. I enjoy going to Wickford Swimming Pool and Everyone Active Gym. It was completely redone in about 2014. The staff are super friendly and the only thing I don't like are the shorter opening times during the weekend and how busy it can get at times (hence only 4 instead of 5 stars).
