Positive experience: This gym offers an excellent environment for working out, but the equipment needs an upgrade as soon as possible. I recently visited the PureGym in Cardiff Central, and it was a world apart in terms of both equipment and layout. The machines here urgently need to be updated.

Negative experience: What a bad experience I have had the last 2 days .. I have been a member of Newport pure gym since September 2021 and have not had an issue with any of the personal trainers or gym staff at all .. there is a new member of staff called Haris . He walks around doing absolutely nothing eating and drinking from the vending machines sitting down on his phone and paying no attention to anything going on . The gym floor was a total mess I was carrying a heavy weight and walked onto a cable assessory ( V bar ) that was left on the floor and almost broke my neck .. today whilst running on the treadmill at SPEED he then starts spraying the treadmill next to me with cleaning fluid going all over me and my treadmill . He apologised and said sorry if that went on you .. He then went to the other side of me and sprayed that treadmill and soaked me again… I could of slipped or even been allergic to that cleaning solution .. This member of staff has no idea what he should or should not be doing on that gym floor .. I really hope this gets dealt with immediately before a nasty accident happens
Negative experience: The place needs some tlc and more machines. Bear in mind this is £20 a month per person as you read the rest and there are lots of other gyms that offer that price or similar. I’ve just moved house and therefore gyms. I was at the gym group on Newport Road and that was way better. Staff cared, machines were fixed as soon as they were broken and weights were re-racked by staff (in order might I add). That place was a similar price too so I was hoping for similar quality. It’s quite a busy gym in the city centre and it has the space to fit more machines in. You can see the space! I get there are classes but a lot of space is taken up by bikes and treadmills of which I’ve only ever seen at a third capacity. There’s one free weight leg press, one leg press machine as an example. Would be great to have a crunch machine for abs too not just the other type they currently have. It’s pretty difficult to get the opportunity to use the machines as there’s pretty much one of each. I’ve seen the odd staff member about but I’ve never seen them looking after the place. Be it to help people, re-rack weights (would be nice if they were in order too) or just cleaning. Just taking some pride/ care for the place. Only once I’ve seen the manager move a yoga ball from downstairs to upstairs and that’s the best example I’ve seen of someone working there looking after the place. The lockers themselves need a lot of work. Over half of them don’t lock so you’re there just checking one locker after the other if your usual one is taken. They need fixing! If you intend on driving in don’t assume the ticket scanner for the car park will work either and good luck working it out on your own when there’s no staff visibly about. The yanga water is also a hard miss as it’s never topped up. Either juice is there and you get the pure concentrate (you only make that mistake once) or just water and no juice. If you can make it to another gym I would recommend it. This is just not the one.
Positive experience: Great Gym, has all the equipment I need. Missing some but it's not a huge gym. Open 24 hrs but the air con is awful at times and the toilets seem to be clogged a lot .
Positive experience: Set in a retail centre. First visit. Good amount of equipment. No waiting times. Sadly both male and female toilets were awful! Out of order& dirty toilets, no toilet roll. :(

Positive experience: Minimal gym creeps. People mind their business. The females are a bit off here. And the staff are non-existent. The bathrooms STINK. The equipment is mediocre. The treadmills are in a nice spot, you can look out the window while you work out. The overall schematic of the gym is very dysfunctional as the only watering fountain is upstairs and the majority of the equipment is downstairs. It lacks mirrors, and the mirrors that they do have do not go floor ceiling. Its in such a convenient spot in the downtown area and the price is average. I enjoy this gym because its members are a chill crowd with little to no creeps.
Positive experience: You get what you pay for. As a gym, it has all the equipment you need including free weights, reliant on people to place the weights to their home after use. This it my frustration, I spend time looking for the weights I use! Not the gyms faults but the people who use it. They have good classes and the trainers really push you. The gym is a 4, some people spoil it for others that is a 2 so rating as a 3.

Positive experience: Went here for years in covid and pre covid sadly its gone down hill quite a bit. Most of the equipment I remember has gone. Hip abductor out of use. Dumbbell rack upstairs has only 2-3 Kettlebells and dumbells at a time. Music is down quiet in evenings, not much environment anymore. Using again until a newer 24-7 hours in Newport opens in the new year and paying for an extra membership at jd to have access to more equipment on the weekend. Shame.

I have my suspicions about what their "deal" (cough) is. I wouldn't go there again until there's better security
Positive experience: Fab Sunday lunch, friendly service and good range of beverages. Lost a star because the tables were sticky and need a proper wash.

Negative experience: Gym is fine but the changing rooms are shocking and all the machines have trash on them. About 20% of lockers are usable, if they're not taken. It's filthy, with people's garbage everywhere, and the local morons seem to think it's a suitable place to hang out, chat and eat lunch... I guess it's fun to have balls in your face while you chow down on school sandwiches. Idiots. The worst part of an ok gym.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Management team are very professional and friendly. Good range of equipment. Clean and tidy.
Positive experience: This is a great gym, with enough equipment to save you waiting even when it's pretty busy. Most of the equipment also includes user instructions if you're not sure. It's 24 hour access and it is unstaffed after 6ish I think and but manned with cameras and emergency help points to make calls. This is great as sometimes I turn up as late as 9pm and leave gone 11pm. Its members seem respectful and courteous waiting their turn or checking if you're finished before using equipment. I'm a guy but I've noticed the layout seems quite well thought out, particularly for women - as the equipment they typically use is collected together in different sections, leaving them to work out in peace without them being eye candy. Even the male and female changing rooms are on different sides of the building. They include lockers, but you'll need to bring your own lock. The gym offers free parking with your membership which is arranged with the kingsway shopping center carpark, there's no drama or questioning, you just scan your ticket at the car park office before you leave. Overall a great gym, although the showers could be better.
Negative experience: Worst Puregym around, absolute mess. No parking meter machine working, also had no water machine working. Weights were everywhere all over the floor not in there place on the shelves. This was at 11am!! After reading other review i thought no way it cant be that bad…. It is…
Negative experience: Expired protein shakes in the vending machine. Which made me sick. Already complained to manager & he didn't bother about it
Positive experience: Good gym. Weekend evenings are not the best place to workout due to the gym being unstaffed and people bringing food inside from local takeaway places.
Positive experience: It's very intimidating for women to do the weights section as there's usually loads of men peacocking that don't put their weights away and staff don't tend to be seen, there's usually a few machines that don't work. The ticket machine also hasn't worked in weeks which is now very frustrating.
Positive experience: Went there for the first time today. Not to busy at that time. I haven't got much experience in gym but from my point of view was alright. Like it.
Positive experience: Recently joined Puregym, and I'm already loving it! The fact that it's a 24-hour gym means I can go whenever I feel like it, which is great because my schedule is always hectic. The machines are all in good condition and well-maintained. There is also an array of classes available for those who prefer group exercise. The staff is friendly and helpful, so I never feel lost or overwhelmed when using the equipment.
Fantastic experience: Good equipment and friendly staff
Negative experience: Instructors great! Location great! Open 24/7 great! Cleanliness not so great, showers are always dirty and count yourself lucky if they are warm thats if they are working only see one lady cleaning she does her best but more cleaners more often needed. As for the equipment its a losing battle new equipment has been added yet its not enough for the amount of members its so hard to work out even if its quite plus no logic in layout. I'm shocked no-one has passed out from how hot and close it is no windows or air-conditioning.

Fantastic experience: Good gym with loads of equipment. As it's good and quite cheap, there are plenty of people using it. In result even going there at 9 pm, I'm struggling to get a free bench to do my workout. There is a free car park for 2 hours, which is great, but the trouble is that after 9 PM, easy access through Kingsway Shopping Centre is closed. You can only get thre via outside carpark gates with a weirdly complicated staircase, which means that you'll get wet when it is raining. Otherwise, I can highly recommend that gym.
Positive experience: Location is good, being in the town centre, and you get 2 hrs parking free. Showers are clean and tidy and the upstairs space has plenty of decent equipment. The biggest problem for me is the free weight section. The weights are NEVER where they should be- and almost always thrown around on the floor. I don’t know if it’s just the gymbro-cavemen who can’t seem to put their weights away or if it’s also the staff who can’t be bothered to tidy, but I’m constantly spending 5 minutes trying to find a matching pair of dumbbells whilst trying not to trip over discarded barbells. I get that during unmanned hours this can’t really be policed, but it doesn’t seem to matter what time I go. I spent 5 minutes putting away tripping hazards this morning- if everyone put away their weights properly I wouldn’t need to do it for them. Other than that, the gym is fine.

Negative experience: Leaks in the ceiling broken treadmills and leg curl machine broken showers broken hairdryer decently clean but the leg curls been broken for months and there was a recent closure due to leakage which is why the showers don’t work I just think there is to many problems and things need fixing to put it any higher than 2 stars however the equipment that isn’t broken works well and I’m happy with the price of the gym

Positive experience: Overall good gym considering the value for money! Experience varies depending on whether you go at busy or quiet times, because the gym is not equipt enough. For example, there are limited plates, they have been adding more recently which has helped. Also during busy times the gym can get very warm, upstairs especially. A hack squat would also be good to add and more squat racks as often I find myself not able to do what I planned due to lack of squat racks. The recent addition of a hip thruster has been a good addition. The gym is generally clean and the cleaning stations are well stocked toilets and showers are decent for a gym. The staff and personal trainers that are around are generally friendly. During off peak times there is lots of room and a fair variety of equipment.

Fantastic experience: The staff are very helpful at Pure Gym Newport. The place is always clean as well and staff are supportive. However, I must say Skye Allen the manager is absolutely lovely, pleasant and approachable. Nothing is too much for him to support you with whether you are a new starter or a pro. Having that attitude as a manager will allow people to join the gym, and stays there.

Negative experience: Has gone downhill Removed half of the treadmills at least 5 of them left were out of order. On top f that most of the weight equipment is also broken and out of order. Prices used to be so much cheaper as well.

Positive experience: Clean , open 24/7 , opening times so much better than everlast or Bannatyne. Sad doesn't has sauna & swimming pool . Only needs this to be perfect.

Positive experience: Good gym overall, the personal trainers will always offer their time to you and are very helpful and non-judgemental even if you ask a beginners question. The classes are also very informative and fun. I specifically like this gym because there are people of all shapes and sizes, and you really get a sense of motivation from that. Cleaning stations for equipment and sanitation is also available, which I think is a must! Only downside is there is a limited number of weights and other equipment in the downstairs zones. But it's not a massive inconvenience, just means I have to mix it up with my routine. Showers can sometimes do with a cleaning too but again, most often clean.

Positive experience: Relaxed gym, all the equipment for what you're working on are all together - look forward to visiting again. One issue was my gym buddie's pass - it wouldn't work, hoping that willbe sorted for next time.

Positive experience: Lots of space inside their gym compared to others which is nice. There is also a wide range of equipment that other pure gyms don’t have. However the equipment is slightly outdated and some show their age/use. The gym was also very warm likely due to the low ceiling and little AC, the locker rooms were also very old with the lockers covered in rust on the inside as well as only one toilet in use! (Due to a missing lock on the door)

Fantastic experience: We love it. It’s clean, tidy, 24/7 and for a good price with nice rehydration drink included in the higher level membership.

Negative experience: absolutely night mare costumer service.. I'm trying to join for two weeks but can't make payment.. I contacted bank and they blocking puregym payments as they did not fulfill new interest security law about Internet payments. .puregym does not operate phone line and customer service. pure gym is night mare to email back waiting for ages for replys from them. I'm keep asking them to call me and they just email back... NIGHT MARE... worst customer service I ever received.. I probably have to join different gym as pure gym is not interested in new costumers
Positive experience: I recently started going here, it is good with a wide range of pre-bookable classes available and a fair amount of machines and spaces to do your workouts. Only thing is even during the 'manned' hours that are stated on the website there doesn't seem to be many staff around and there are often kids/teenagers messing around with the equipment or running around in the gym.
Positive experience: Generally the equipment is in good order and the gym clean. However I wish the class instructors would reduce the music volume as you cannot hear their directions.

Fantastic experience: Good qym, but very busy in the evenings, less cardio machines and more weights machines. No hack machine ( basic leg equipment).

Fantastic experience: Just started going.not to far from bus station about 10 min walk. Pin code access to building via the puregym app Everything I needed all In one place Best times to go before 4pm no crowds. Was able to use each piece of equipment without hanging around. Sanitising stations dotted around to wipe down equipment which I found really good Nice clean building .staff super friendly will help you with all your questions if you have any.loving going to puregym nice relaxed atmosphere to do exercises at your own pace

Fantastic experience: Moved to Newport back in September 2021 and straight away me and my partner joined PureGym Newport. Lovely gym, great equipment, 24 hours helps to go in the late evening or early mornings when its much quieter. Obviously its going to be busy at peak times which is why I avoid these times. You can check on your app how busy it is (sometimes it looks busier than what it is because there are classes on at certain times of the day). Met some of the PT and they are all friendly too. You feel welcomed and nobody bothers you if you just want to come in and do your thing. Only small annoying thing (for me) is I wish you had more certain resistance machines because they can get quite popular, especially when downstairs is busy on the weights, but other than that, great gym. Me, my partner, and gym friend come 3 times a week

Positive experience: An excellent gym with great facilities the only problem is £16 a month can be too much for some people to pay with no discounts for the unemployed

Positive experience: Good friendly demographic of people to train with. Shame I just found doors locked at the gym, shut at 4pm on boxing day. So the 24 / 7 / 365 plaque on the studio wall is just false. No Christmas hours posted on the website
Hi Daneil, We understand that having a 24/7 gym is ideal and we do try to have all of our gyms open at all times. However, due to external factors such as local licensing regulations and Annual holidays this is not always possible. We are always looking to make changes that we can to opening hours, and often have other local PureGym’s that will be 24/7 and can be used.

Negative experience: Barley any equipment compared to JD gym and the weights are all over the place not even misplaced, but on the floor when nobody is using them. The only positive thing is that the staff are friendly and the gym is clean.

Positive experience: I am new to the whole working out In the gym environment but I feel very comfortable here to be honest, if you want to be left alone to get on with your workout no one bothers you and if you want help from the personal trainers you can book time with them aswell. The only 2 small down sides are there is a lack of some of the machines leading to a minor amount of ques on bust times and the price is a touch higher than others. But if you join at free joining fee times of the year like me and don't mind changing your work out slightly on busy times to accommodate the ques (again very short wait time), you will be all set here if like me you are new to the gym.
