Positive experience: Open all hours , cheap memberships , lots of equipment, if you can get on them. Not the most hygiene friendly of places. People can do better with gym etiquette also . But go in get the job done and walk out. But Don't forget to wash your hands

Negative experience: The lift at PUREGYM AYLESBURY has been out of order for three weeks, making it difficult for me as I am unable to use the stairs. Additionally, there is a water leak from the ceiling in the accessible bathroom, and the bidet water tank is not functioning. Again, the lift is still not working You can say POOR gym, NOT puregym

Positive experience: It's a lovely gym overall. I like it because it's spacious. It's also clean. Equipment is good. All you need is there. Plenty of free weights and also great set of machines. Air con is working and the temperature is just right. Plenty of parking with 2h free. The only thing which I would like to see there is sauna. And that would be a perfect gym!

Negative experience: Avoid at all costs. Extremely busy, broken/cheap machines, poor lighting, rows upon rows of cardio machines & terrible facilities. Go over the road, Pegasus Gym, cheaper, far less people, better machines and better lighting.

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. Negative experience: The ceo supports genocide so had to leave

Negative experience: The gym always has maintenance issues, managed poorly and gets very hot in summer. completely waste of money.

Fantastic experience: Joined today,17th May after a rival franchise suddenly closed down. I certainly enjoyed myself training and spoke to a friendly staff member, Elle, i think her name was. Forgive me, if i spelt it wrong..Already i like it here. Thanks for the welcome and showing me around the gym the day before. Theres also a Puregym in Great Yarmouth, a town i visit a lot because of family. A real bonus for me.

Negative experience: Worse gym of all time, I have switched due to not enough equipment and it’s too overcrowded. What makes it even worse is that the CEO took a political stance on a genocide when he could’ve kept his mouth shut. 0 stars if I could!
Positive experience: Lots of equipment. Mostly very clean. I love it. Flexible for me, who works a 12hour shift. Only thing that bothers me is there's only 1 "calves and thighs machine" or whatsitcalled. I always dislike leg day because of this, i always have to stand behind 2 guys just to secure a turn for the machine, wasting a good 8-15minutes. I dont want to take turns because of mixing our sweat on the cushion. Most days, i just leave. Also, some slobs just leave their weights around and leave a mess and no staff to be seen to punish these disgusting and smelly customers. (the smell was just an extra, but still, they should have learned the word "deodorant in school or at home). Mind you that this was during the supposed "manned hours" or staff should at least be in the field.

Negative experience: Machines always breaking, Waiting time is too long to use the 1 bench press they have in their, no one puts the weights back that's the problem with these commercial gyms. Gents wash room is never cleaned always smells so can't use that facility. Oh and the ceo supports genocide.

Fantastic experience: Very well equipped gym and associated areas. Upbeat music, good atmosphere. Clean, good availability of equipment. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. A good introduction was given and all have been professional, knowledgeable staff. I felt very welcome going on my own.

Negative experience: The tempters control in this gym is just unhealthy, way too hot to work out even in the middle of winter. Having set temperature for aircon to kick in is ridiculous

Negative experience: 3 times in the last 10 days ive tried to use the showers and they work for 10 seconds then go off!then you press the button and nothing. Sort it out!!!!

Negative experience: Full of kids
Hi Daniel, thanks for leaving us this review. We are sorry to see this is 2 stars. We have a strict age policy which is 16+ years. Staff do have the right to ID anyone they believe to be under this age. If you have any concerns, we would advise speaking to the Gym Manager who can further investigate this. Thanks, PureGym
Negative experience: Decent gym but very poor aircon. The aircon system at PureGym is flawed as seen in another review. The system cools when the gym is above 21.5C and heats when below 17.5C. The gym should never get to 21.5C that’s way to warm for working out per sport England guidelines. It should instead be kept at a steady temperature as many other gyms are.This seems like a cost saving measure from PureGym that is damaging the experience of users.

Positive experience: Always smell like old socks and most of the machines are out of order. And people don’t clean equipment after use anymore

Positive experience: Pretty busy, even late in the evening. Went between 8:30pm and 10pm on Sunday and Tuesday, both times quite busy. Decent facilities though.

Negative experience: No air con, unbearably hot. I’m sure it’s a health & safety hazard. They had the same issue last year and quite frankly they just don’t seem to care!

Fantastic experience: Probably the best pure gym I’ve been to and I’ve been to a bunch. Only issue is the air conditioning, normally I have my towel so I don’t really mind a sweat but this time I had forgotten it and had to constantly go up to get a tissue from the cleaning section. I went at a relatively busy time and everything I needed was available and I did a back focused full body day so I had worked at least one compound movement each so needed a bench, squat rack ect and was all available. Very clean new gym, slightly better equipment in terms of modernity and optimally training than other pure gyms. Weights were left at some barbells and machines but that happens in every gym so you can’t hold that against this pure gym. Also seemed a lot friendlier than other pure gyms too, toilets were very clean and modern, water facilities and fountains all worked too. I’d give this a strong 9/10, only slight issue being the AC but if you’re not sweating at the gym then you’re doing something wrong.

Negative experience: After reading through the reviews and my own experience, there is clearly something very wrong with the main floors air conditioning.. there is none. Not once have I felt airflow out of those vents. There's an ongoing issue that has persisted now for over a year with no sign of acknowledgement or action to fix. It's outrageous to see the lack of response by the management and generic replies to every single review bringing up this issue. The gym should be ashamed. When this inevitably receives a generic reply, I'll be gladly terminating my membership.

Positive experience: My boyfriend and I are relatively new to the area and joined this gym. We are avid weightlifters and yet we find this gym annoying as its always busy so you can't get onto a machine, even outside of peak times, and there is no air con. Looking for other gyms within aylesbury area that are big enough and have aircon!

Positive experience: Always quieter in the mornings. Most machines are available to use without waiting. Currently, work is being carried out to fix the air-conditioning

Negative experience: The A/C situation is absolutely awful, it’s so hot it must be a H&S risk. It’s been complained about numerous times (as per previous reviews) and nothing seems to have been done. They seem to be haemorrhaging staff/trainers so it’s obviously not a great place for them to be either. The number of classes they offer have been cut significantly - there are now only 2 weeknight spin classes and 1 weekend spin class. Classes seem to just drop off the schedule with no warning, so it’s impossible to build a routine or arrange childcare to be able to attend. Went to a LBT class this week, the trainer sat on her phone most of the time just shouting instructions - not very motivating when the trainers can’t be bothered to do any of the exercise!

Negative experience: Used to be good, now they screw up something with the air conditioning. Sweat box. I suggest to cancel the subscription for the summer and join back in for the winter.. Unbearable!

Negative experience: This is a great gym, it's relatively tidy, has good equipment and is well maintained but it's air conditioning is absolutely awful. It’s also incredibly busy, even at 6AM and I wouldn’t dream of going in the evenings until after 8PM. I will be suspending or cancelling my membership imminently. Today at 9AM it was 26 degrees inside, 2 degrees warmer than outside and 70% humidity at one point. For me this boarders on dangerously hot to train in with no fans or airflow. For reference their customer services team tell me their gyms are kept between 18 and 21 degrees.... They are aware of the issue and actively looking to address or fix it but I'm not confident anything will actually change. Last year mobile portable A/C units were introduced as the integrated units from when this used to be a D/W gym are not sufficient to cool the space given the (presumably) metal roof which sits above the ceiling tiles. However I've been told they will not be returning following managements decision to remove them. It's a shame because I enjoy using their other sites but this is my home gym I use most often. A price increase recently to top it off is just perfect... - Their response is the same standard spiel they have been parroting for years in all the other reviews below. There is a fundamental inadequacy with the air conditioning at this gym. Train elsewhere during the summer months.

Our gyms are very popular and so can become busy especially at peak times, but this does fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day. To make the most of the space where possible, though, we are always looking to expand and improve our facilities. Members can also use the members area via the PureGym app or website, to see how many people are in the gym. By law, we have a requirement to provide a certain amount of fresh air based on occupancy levels. Our air conditioning system increases and decreases at different times throughout the day and night, to heat the air when it drops below17.5C, and cools the air when it gets higher than 21.5C. On occasion, we can get faults on our ventilation and AC systems which is normal. When this happens our gym team contact our contractors to have the system fixed as soon as possible. All member feedback is reviewed and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities. Positive experience: My goodness this place is an absolute sweat box. Why is it Aylesbury seems to be the only Pure gym without any Aircon? The other day they had no blue roll left, no air con and to top it off no toilet paper. Come on now sort it out, it's a shame as a good size gym with plenty of good equipment!
Hi Daniel, thank you for your feedback regarding the air conditioning in the gym. We have recently made slight changes to this area, looking at improving energy efficiency. This is both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. By law, we have a requirement to provide a certain amount of fresh air based on occupancy levels, and our ventilation system increases and decreases at different times throughout the day and night, making sure me meet these requirements and provide good air movement around the gyms. These levels are based upon size of the gym, and occupancy levels, and are regularly monitored. With regards to the temperature in the gym, we use air conditioning units which heat the air when it drops below 17.5C, and cools the air when it goes higher than 21.5C, keeping the temperature within the gym at an acceptable level. This is regularly checked to ensure the units are operating as they should be across all of our gyms. On occasion, we can get faults on our ventilation and AC systems which is normal. When this happens, there is a process in place to ensure we arrange for our contractors to attend, investigate and resolve the faults and return the systems back to full working order within a timely manner. PureGym developed industry-leading cleaning and hygiene protocols as part of our TrainSafe Commitment. Self-cleaning stations have been removed to support our sustainability objectives by reducing our paper towel waste. You can speak to staff in the gym for information, or if there are any issues. As staff are based on site they can provide immediate help with any in-gym issues. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities and all feedback is taken into account when making any future changes. Negative experience: Generally a good gym - standard of puregym. However, the air conditioning leaves much to be desired. I came back from University over a period of time and felt that I would use my premium membership to visit the one in Ayelsbury. However, despite going on multiple occasions, I eventually felt as thought it was pointless to do so because of how hot & humid that place is kept. Other puregyms I have been to do not have this issue so am unsure as to why Ayelsbury is so stifling - but it ruined my experiences overall and I found myself not bothering to go. I would like to see some actual action taken as opposed to a generic, copy & pasted answer as I know I am not the only person to feel this way. Despite that issue, the gym in ayelsbury is overall ok.

Negative experience: Hottest puregym I’ve been to. Last summer they had air con units to lower the temperature. This year they are not going to get any. I don’t know how the PTs can stand being in there for more than a couple hours, let alone training someone.

Negative experience: Magic team strikes again. We are used to the incompetence of this team, but it is too much. Today, the light went out in the men's locker room, completely. And no one tried, at least, to solve the problem. Incompetent and very important people in this team.

Negative experience: Just did a day pass at a pricey £7.99 as I'm looking at switching gyms. I train in the morning and got there for half 9 AM...the place was RAMMED! Really busy, so I had to do a few laps to find some free equipment. Found a squat rack in a corner and started my workout. I quickly noticed the terrible smell of sweat and other bodily odours and put that down to the poor hygiene of some of the users there, but quickly realised there was no real air system at all and the stench was lingering. I cut my session short due to this, and the struggle to find free equipment I wanted to use, as I follow a plan. I don't use equipment randomly. Toilet area also dirty and needed a clean. I was asked for feedback and gave it honestly. I was then contacted by their customer service via email who apologised and explained that they were making improvements, including the air con. I did ask if a refund was possible but they said no. I asked if I could get a free day pass in the future once they had made said improvements and again they said no. I get the impression they couldn't have cared less. So I cant recommend this gym at all. Dirty, very busy, very smelly, and poor customer service.

Negative experience: Had to leave due to it being too busy, where it is full capacity till 8pm. Not ideal having to go to the gym around 9/10pm. Even then, most of the machines are occupied so you still have to wait around to use the equipment. It leaked at one point which left a damp smell for a while. Also air con was broken for 2 years and they were reluctant to fix it. Even when they fixed it , it wasn’t cool enough.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, good equipment and good value for money. Only negative is if you do not put your registration into the iPad you get a ticket after 2 hours mine was cancelled but the half whits at NEXUS handed to a debt collecting agency who send me threatening emails. Luckily I kept all correspondence so hopefully they will take me to court because as far as I am concerned they can foxtrot oscar.

Positive experience: Been a member for a while here as in a good location, 24hours, good gym floor space, free parking, friendly staff and decent value. With that said it is a very popular gym and can be busy during peak hours which means your training will have to be adjusted accordingly due to in demand weight machines being in use. (Cardio machines are at the plenty however). Equipment wise a decent range. However this gym could really do with some new additions machine wise to breath some new life back into the place. Nothing new has been added for quite some time now, unlike rival gyms in the area who have added to their stock. Personally I would love to see an addition of a hack squat machine which would greatly add another variation to leg day. Changing rooms are not great cleanliness wise. Not expecting boutique gym standards but the toilets always seem to be leaking and the showers can be a bit dirty. (As previous comments have alluded to).

Positive experience: Been a member since day one. The things that were right at the beginning, are still right ( free parking, relative value for money) the things that were wrong, are still wrong ( very, very, very dirty! Cardio equipment is as basic as you could get away with. None of the cardio equipment is the best model in range )

Positive experience: Gym equipment was fairly good. Some treadmills weren’t working. Not too crowded. The gym area as a whole was good enough for me. One thing that ruined my experience was the showers, after a sweaty session, I went to the showers, they weren’t very clean at all. Maybe just need cleaning more frequently.

Hi Kristie, Staff do regular cleaning checks in the gym and we have dedicated cleaning teams who come each day to carry out. Of course, during peak times it can be difficult for us to compete all cleaning routines, however as soon as it is possible our staff will complete all procedures and checks. Positive experience: This gym has fairly decent equipment obviously as you can imagine it is a busy place but for the money not too bad. However the biggest issue with this gym is the Temperature of the place. It’s ridiculously hot in there even the air con does not cool place. For me it’s pretty uncomfortable.

Negative experience: Please stop being cheap and put the air conditioning on during the summer. The gym is often over crowded and there was a chicken bone on the floor for a month near the leg press.

Positive experience: The stairs to reach this gym are certainly not your friend on the way out, but a great way to see how hard you have hit leg day. This gym has to have been the busiest gym I have ever been to with pretty much all machines and equipment being used and queues for the machines. It was around 6-7pm so the after work rush is expected but there should be some management of crowds especially considering Covid 19 is barely in the rear view mirror. The annoying part is where there's groups of people chatting and standing around. It can be off putting and annoying to have to manoeuvre around these groups. Overall the gym is clean but the equipment is basic and similar to The Gym group with layout issues that could be addressed to give a better flow to the gym. The black aesthetic of the space however does give it a premium vibe.
We have continued several aspects of our TrainSafe plan, created during the pandemic, to ensure members are still safe when using our gyms. We have kept the cleaning stations and aim to keep them stocked up as often as we can; we clean the gym more frequently and perform a deep clean of the changing rooms from 00:00 - 03:00 every morning; we have kept the hand sanitation dispensers dotted around the gym and increased the flow of fresh air. We have also kept the contactless entry system in which you use your QR code to enter the gym rather than using the key pad to enter your PIN. It is difficult for our team to monitor how long groups of members are sat on equipment but if you feel like they are taking an excessive amount of time, please speak to a member of staff on the gym floor. Negative experience: This gym is ok but it's really over subscribed. If you want to do a set work out plan, forget about it as there's just not enough equipment. Be prepared to wait 20 mins for a squat rack to free up. There is only one bench press so you're going to end up using a squat rack or something, which again. You'd be lucky to get on.... there is clearly a hundred better ways to set up the gym but nobody is going to do anything about it.... Edit - the gym is busy at 6am, Sundays, during office hours It’s not just a problem at peak times It’s always rammed

We’re afraid it's true, our gyms simply are very popular and so can become busy especially at peak times, but this does fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day. To make the most of the space where possible, though, we are always looking to expand and improve our facilities. Members can also use the members area via the PureGym app or website, to see how many people are in the gym. Regarding the setup if you have any other/specific suggestions please approach the Gym Manager or leave a note in the feedback box, which is regularly reviewed! Thanks, PureGym.
