Fantastic experience: A really lovely leisure centre complex. Complete with cafe. We were a visiting swimming club taking part in a gala there. Apart from one woman ignoring the rules for no air horns, it was well organised.

Positive experience: Staff on the front desk are super friendly, they are a credit to the leisure centre. I have only used the swimming pool but sometimes the changing rooms are not immaculately clean. They are not bad, and I know it is hard to keep on top of, but I have often had debris on my bare feet when getting ready for swimming.

Positive experience: Love the swimming facilities here, great pool for kids and warm as well unlike most leisure centre pools! Could do with more family sized changing rooms but it’s no issue. Cafe upstairs is good too, lovely coffee and mini soft play area to keeps kids entertained. Perfect!

Fantastic experience: Great place for the leisure activities. All my family members learned badminton in this place and now my kid is playing in competitive tournaments. Great place to get fit, learn new sport and after school & holiday activities for the kids (swimming , gymnastics, trampoline, running, indoor football, squash & etc) It has swimming pool, steam room & sauna and Hot tub is the only one I found missing. Highly recommend to everyone.

Positive experience: I am a member and although I haven’t swum there for a few years I use the gym on a regular 2-3 times per week at the moment. My one gripe is that the centre don’t publish a ‘gym etiquette’. My use of some of the machines in the gym is restricted by folks spending minutes at a time browsing or messaging on their phones. I have my gym workout program on my phone to reference machine settings(seat, ankle, weights, repeats etc). Sure I rest or flex between between sets but these people do a 20 second set and then sit for 5 minutes on their phones. I also had a guy do a hands free call at full volume for 5 minutes the other day. I think that a few notices around encouraging people not to occupy machines unnecessarily whilst browsing or messaging on social media and to not take phone calls inside the gym would be useful. People should know better. But obviously some need a reminder.

Fantastic experience: Took granddaughter 2 years 4 months. 3 adults and child £18 for an hour of pleasure. Kids pool has a "beach" entrance, so very shallow leading to a deeper pool (large). Very busy on a Friday afternoon, but plenty of room for all.

Fantastic experience: Great facility, with everything you would expect at your local LC, good gym, pool, nice cafe. Buts it’s also got a fantastic running track and field. Staff are also friendly.

Positive experience: Decent facilities, great gym, pool not available to the public very often, especially at convenient times.

Negative experience: What was once a great swimming facility is now bordering on poor. Even when listed as 'general swim' there are often lessons taking place that severely restrict or deny access to either pool, MANY others have made similar complaints to us too. The WHOLE children's pool was off limits to parents the other day when clearly only ONE child was having a lesson !!!. The clear side of the main pool had young children constantly in the way of length swimmers as they were not allowed to use the childrens pool (even the empty side). And which complete moron signed off on the recent sloppy refurbishment of the changing area ?, floors don't slope towards drains causing pools of water and the tiles are incredibly slippy when wet !!. My partner was so lucky to have me at her side when she slipped by the pool showers a few days ago and I managed to catch her !, witnessed by one of the lifeguards. Also the disabled rooms get unbelievably hot as the ventilation is so poor, is it even functioning at all ?..... We now expect generic and poor excuses in reply.

Negative experience: Hygene is poor, especially in the changing village. The smell of urine and human soil is constant. Concerning stuff really. I hope this comes to the forefront of your priorities considering what the entire world has just been through. H/s should be number 1

Positive experience: For a dated building, it's had a brilliant re-modeling. Feels very welcoming and secure at the entrance, with polite & efficient staff. My grandson was involved with the holiday sports club, which gave him a variety of things to occupy him, and that's a task in itself. I've not experienced the gym or pool, but if it's as professional as the arena, it should be OK

Positive experience: came here a couple years ago for a swimming gala, i found that the water was really thick and slowed me down, this caused me to come last. with this in mind i decided to return for a leisurely swim with my autistic friend to see if the water conditions had improved. my friend found it really difficult to swim and almost drowned twice, i wouldn’t recommend drinking the water either, it tastes of chlorine and it gave me a migraine.

Fantastic experience: Hi this is a amazing swing pool gim and mare just one thing about one man in his 40 he was working 18:32 on Tuesday 3 January and me and my family when into the Big pool and we when to the Deep end the man said that he can not go into the deep end because he can not talk he 8 and we say why not and he says that he had to Do a lap and he Did it But still not and then we all ask why not he snapt he say horrible fings to us and 1 min later a 4 year old was jumping he Did not had to Do a lap and that's why I think he sod Be fired

I was down visiting my Father for the weekend and checked the website that says you can use the gym as a visitor for only to arrive and be told I would need to pay a £20 joining fee to then pay a visiting fee to use the gym. A great community approach from the local leisure centre.

Positive experience: Good place to visit with family or friends for playing badminton, indoor football, basketball, table tennis. Swimming pool is also good enough. Have never used gym but it is equipped with lots of machines. Parking is available on site.

Fantastic experience: Set in the suburbs of Southern Manchester a real nature paradise ( almost). Great facilities for the local community. The evening we attended was a beautiful summers evening. The athletics track is set behind the stadium with a separate car park.

Fantastic experience: Plenty of parking spaces. Easy to find

Fantastic experience: The gym opens 6am weekdays and 7am weekends. It is well equipped with fitness machines, a separate weight area, and cardio machines suporting running, rowing, cycling, elliptical cross training, stair climbing etc. In addition it has a friendly atmosphere, and good support and advice from the staff.

Fantastic experience: Clean changing rooms pleasant staff.

Positive experience: The gym can get quite busy after school times as it is right next to fallibroome academy, but the facilities are good and the classes are really well led.

Negative experience: Good swimming facilities but no cafe facilities were open after 5.30pm during a major swimming gala, attended by a few hundred people. The vending machine was out of order, and no snacks or drinks were available for spectators. Surely the cafe should have stayed open later, to generate much needed extra revenue.

Fantastic experience: Very modern leisure centre with a light and airy swimming pool area. The beach effect of the small pool is ideal for little legs, and the large pool is a great size. The changing rooms are a changing village approach, which makes it so easy when you're with the family. All the facilities are so clean and well maintained.

Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities available at this leisure centre, the cafe was a nice clean and tidy area to sit and relax in, seemed a very busy place lots going on.

Negative experience: Learner pool temperature is too cold. 2 year old was shivering within 15 mins. Spoke to other parents who agreed. Not suitable for babies at this temp. Kids with wetsuit type costumes seemed OK, so bring these if you have them!

Negative experience: Normally, me and my family have a good experience here at Macclesfield Leisure Centre, however today, I was completely appalled. First of all, we arrive at the reception at 10:55 (Sunday). Reception staff said there was a 30 minute wait to get into the pool as there were lessons on (who puts lessons on on a Sunday?!) So we waited in a queue of people, and it was getting to being a 50 minute wait. However, the queue started moving so we stayed put. When we finally were able to get into the changing rooms, they smelt horrid (worse than usual) We got into the family changing rooms, got changed and headed into the pool. Got into the big pool, was absolutely freezing (What the heck) It was never usually this cold. And the lifeguards were even worse. They can always find something to get at you about. My smaller cousin jumped off the steps into the pool, and the lifeguard said "Don't jump from the stairs". What is this? Everyone does it when their little. And also, the lifeguards told her off for squealing (because she was having fun) and they said to stop so they could hear someone if they were drowning. Terribly rude and stupid. The only good thing was the communal showers. They were warm not like usual. The showers with the locked doors were working horribly though. You press them, they stay on for 5 seconds and you have to press them again. Repeat and repeat (until you eventually get bored and have had enough). I hope you improve in future, because me and my family have not been impressed. Awful

Negative experience: I booked to take my son swimming in the children's pool on Saturday 8th May. This is the 3rd or 4th time that I have made the same booking since lockdown restrictions eased. When I arrived at the centre to check in, I was told by the manager on duty that I had booked for the main pool, rather than the children's pool and would therefore not be allowed to use the children's pool due to covid rules. I informed the manager that this couldn't be the case and there must be an issue with the online booking system as there is no way I would book for my 3 year old (who has obviously just missed a year of swimming lessons) to go in the main pool where he wouldn't feel confident. The manager's attitude was completely appalling, Instead of acknowleding that there might be an issue he was belligerent and confrontational and actually reduced my child to tears,. The other member of staff behind the desk seemed to be embarrassed by the approach he was taking and tried to placate the situation by saying that she understood how I felt and that she had also had a problem with mistakenly booking for the wrong pool. I appreciate her trying to be polite (in contrast to the condescening attitude of her manager) but if someone who works at the centre can make a mistake with the booking system then it is quite clearly not fit for purpose. As there was no way of getting the manager to back down, I had to take my son into the main pool (rather than take him home disappointed) and carry him around for the whole 45 minutes. Whilst in the pool, I saw some more things that gave me great cause for concern. The manager appeared at poolside (presumably to check that everyone was in the "correct" pool) and I noticed that he was wearing outdoor shoes at poolside, despite signs at the entrance to the changing rooms saying that they must not be worn at poolside. I challenged him about this when I left the centre and he said that he only wears those shoes in the centre. Presumably on the same floors that all the customers have walked on with their outdoor shoes on. Basic cleanliness and hygiene rules being ignored. He also had his face covering pulled down whilst at poolside. This doesn't seem to be that compatible with his strict adherence to covid rules. Talking of which, when I counted there were around 10 swimmers in the children's pool, and 20 (who were all clustered around the shallow end as there were mostly parents with children) in the main pool so the social distancing policy that is in place is clearly counterproductive! The gutter area at the shallow end of the main pool also stank of urine and the floor in the changing room was dirty. So in conclusion if I could make some recommendations to the company that own Macclesfield Leisure centre they would be as follows 1) Get an online booking system that is actually fit for purpose 2) Employ much better centre managers 3) Sort out the cleanliness and hygiene in the centre

Positive experience: It's good if you go in the week but they do shut most of the pool area for schools.
