Fantastic experience: There is 2 members of staff I have met in the gym I think are a bit rude and just ignore you but all the others are super friendly and helpful, Full of advice. Equipment is quality and clean. Good price. Can be full of grannies and little tinkers running around but it's funny.

Negative experience: Parking is an absolute nightmare. Since the remodel, there just aren't enough spaces for the increased demand. Cars parked all over the grassy areas, just off the roundabout into the estate and on the double yellow lines. It is only a matter of time before someone gets run over in the joke of a carpark, especially when the softplay is so popular with small children! Odd when there is so much wasted space besides the building and around the place that could be altered into marked parking bays.

Fantastic experience: Visited adventure play with our two grandchildren excellent experience great fun keeps them fit. I think this is well managed centre for all ages. Staff couldn't be more helpful safe environment. Good café great coffee. I would certainly recommend Abbey Centre well worth a visit.

Fantastic experience: Today was our first visit to the soft play, my daughter and grandson had a great time. The staff are on constant look out and very friendly. Highly recommend and very reasonably priced.

Fantastic experience: Love the classes there

Negative experience: Website is unclear and often incorrect. Staff tend to be passive aggressive and rude whilst standing around gossiping. The gym is too small and cramped with too much breathing down your neck and trying to sell you classes and personal training like car salesmen. Staff need to be replaced with polite, friendly people not judgemental gossips.

Positive experience: Took 3 of our grandchildren here to use the soft play. They really enjoyed it, so it represented good value for money. Only £5 each for 90 minutes. The only issue was that their contactless machines weren't working & we only had a small amount of cash!

Fantastic experience: Like going here for the soft play which is very good built in the old gym basketball court or whatever it was There's trampolines and some other areas for older kids that you access with a wrist band, looks fun but my kids are too young right now Really recommend the bacon sandwich

Negative experience: I can understand local government supporting fitness and swimming, but why on earth spend thousands on a child's play area when there are lots around? Similarly, they spent lots on the QR code entry/exit system that only hinders adults. Children are merrily going under or around the gates. There were no signs to warn about the pressure pads, so many people couldn't get the gates to work etc. Spend the money on fixing the roads or other closed swimming pools. And get your money back on a truly useless Web site. It's honestly one if the worst sites I've ever used.

Negative experience: Visited for the first time last week, kids were really excited playarea looked great. Unfortunately when you get in it's set up so complicated and over exaggerated. You have to scan a code to get in and out everytime you want a drink or snack, staff are standing round like Security checking all kids wrist bands before they can go on anything to play, an unnecessary chip system that parents have to put in details such as email for each separate child. The place is far too complicated and over done for parents and kids, we just wanted the kids to play & us parents to sit and relax with a coffee like any other playarea, we didn't get that and left after just ten minutes. Very dissatisfied

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fabulous soft play here. We visited for the first time and paid extra for the tag zone and trampolines too. Kids loved it. Felt really safe with the qr code entry and exit and the scores tracker on the tag zone made it a lot more interactive. Cafe was lovely too. There's also a little park at the front and a decent skate park out the back as well. Will definitely be visiting soon

Fantastic experience: As a grandad of 5 young tots I can assure you this is a tip top leisure centre..so clean and bright with excellent staff. The soft play is absolutely brill. This is a place the people of Durham can be proud of.

Fantastic experience: What a leisure centre. Huge range of activities for all the family. Super friendly staff.

Negative experience: The new Abbey Adventure area at the leisure centre is great. Sessions give enough time for plenty of play and the on site cafe has great snacks and more substantial meals to keep everyone going. The baby section has a gate on to keep them safe from the older ones, which was really helpful. Entrance and exit is controlled with scanners so you know your kids aren't going to be able to get out without you. Toilets were really clean and there's a separate baby change and family room if needed.

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym with the latest equipment to track your reps/workout. There is even a sauna which wasn't on the website! Only thing is its hard to walk past the cakes in the cafe by the front door post-workout

Positive experience: Went to soft play. Good for older kids not great for babies and small toddlers. No toys or ball pool. Was very cold. Got little one pizza and chips really nice and good portions.

Fantastic experience: Great kids area. Cafe is great and provides hot and cold drinks, snacks but also light meals which are good. The gym has all the best equipment for the county, so you can log in to almost everything with the Technogym app, which is fun.

Positive experience: Great for the kids. Nice and clean, soft play is great. Very reasonably priced too. Managed by staff properly which is nice to see as usually they are left unattended. Only downside is staff on the cafe were very rude and miserable. Didn't even speak to me to serve me, just nodded her head. No please or thank you. Shouldn't be in that line of work if you have no customer service skills.

Positive experience: Good new community gym. Recently upped the prices and there isn't a family membership like other community gyms I have been a member of so unfortunately considering a move to a cheaper gym.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I have completed our 3 free sessions in the Move Hub really enjoyed the experience and we are both going to take up regular membership and to continue using the Move hub. We have found all the staff very helpful and friendly made us feel so comfortable and welcome and all very good at looking after us. Well done Reception and cafe staff also helpful and pleasant nothing is too much trouble even when very busy. Well done to all staff doing a good job since re opening.

Negative experience: The revamp is great and the new Abbey adventure is a good addition to the area for children. The issue is that two thirds of the equipment have a very high height restriction enforced by the staff. The minimum height to go on the trampolines is 120cms which seems a bit ridiculous when children have trampolines at home and also another local trampoline park has no height limits. When asked about the limits the staff said that it was the manufacturers recommendation and the council was following that but even the staff themselves felt like this was too strict and had many complaints since opening. Hopefully the council can introduce age restrictions instead of height restrictions as it put a dampener on our time there

Negative experience: Probably the worst customer service I have experienced in the gym. The staff don't know about the gym membership prices or classes. They seem uninterested during the work.

Negative experience: The facilities are good but the opening hours are completely useless to anyone that has a job or can only go to the gym early or late.

Positive experience: We visited here for a birthday party. There was a bouncy castle and soft play there to entertain the children. It was a very spacious area and a great place to host a children's party. Next time I visit though I hope the room is warmer!

Positive experience: Good community gym. Opening times are a bit strange so double check. Not open between 12 and 3. Equipment is good but in short supply. No bench press but a rack and benches you can use. Most equipment available but can get busy and so long waits for things. Good price. Good availablity. Very friendly staff and helpful with everything. I think there's a sauna as well.

Negative experience: Friendly staff.. however I couldn't have my child's birthday party in the sports hall as members of the general public can watch the party from the gym. Only other concern is the staff turned the bouncy castle off whilst a child was still on it.
