Shankill Leisure Centre

Positive experience: Grand. Dry changing annoying far away from sauna and steam room. Which is again seperate from the pool area. Shower in mens changing at sauna are gross. All a bit dated. Gym quite small. Pool just for kids.

Positive experience: Always space at the carpark. Front desk very welcoming. Squash could do with a face-lift, but very serviceable as is.

Negative experience: Swimming Decided to take my 13month swimming for the first time on the 7th August (today) to Shankill Leisure Centre. 5 of us (family) booked for 11am seeing as nothing else shown to be on. Took us possibly 30 minutes to get ready before getting into the pool due to having a toddler to get ready as well as ourselves. We get into the pool and we’re all having fun teaching my 13month to swim, not even in the pool for 30 minutes and we get told to leave due to a class being on at 12 which we weren’t told about. The life guard guy told us we should’ve been told about it at the front desk considering it wasn’t showing a timeline online. We spent roughly £20 all together to not even have a swim for 30 mins What confused me the most was there wasn’t even many people at the pool so the pool could’ve easily been split in half like I’ve seen them do before, the class only had roughly 4 people that we saw and we feel like we didn’t get our moneys worth, I feel disappointed because it was my sons first time in a big pool. And we end up not getting to enjoy a full time at the pool. This isn’t the first time there’s been issues with the leisure centre and myself. I’ve always enjoyed going there as a child and despite the last confrontation I had, I decided to go back anyway

Negative experience: Didn't have a perfect stroke so the shriveled up lifeguard told us to get out of the deep end, even though we are taller than it. Sad staff, sad experience.

Fantastic experience: We are using Shankill leisure for a long time now and I hv to admit that it's one of the best run leisure centres in the town. Swimming, Gym and other indoor activities & classes are available here under one roof. The waves & small sliding for kids in swimming pool is very nice feature & center is easily accessible. Will defo recommend

Positive experience: Great place, it is a bit dated but still is kept in good condition. Spacious family rooms, changing areas are clean and tidy. Most important the water in the pool is warm. This is the ideal place to go with small children as it's not deep there. Finally the wave generator is a great experience for little ones. We were there for about 90 mins and the "Wave master" switched on the generator twice. I think it could've been at least 3 times ..Still the waves are cool and they can surprise you :) so make sure your pants are on after ;)

Negative experience: Not great, be helpful if the front desk can tell if wave maker going to be on or not....20 people waiting on waves only to be told that they won't turn on because of some mum an toddlers session containing a few, the only attraction in the place is the waves. and the pool floor, the tiles are sharp as if grout has been removed. If you have swim shoes would recommend.

Fantastic experience: First time at the shankill leisure centre today the centre was clean & tidy and staff was very helpful, to our surprise there was a party in the pool my kids loved it so much, we will come back again thank you.

Fantastic experience: Amazing leisure centre, with fantastic and friendly customer service. We’ve been in NI for three months, and has some poor leisure centre experiences - this was stellar! Warm, fun for kids, and friendly!

Negative experience: The pool has some nice features like the wave generator but it is in dire need of an overhaul. The grout between the tiles are all washed out and are posing a serious risk of injury. My friend’s daughter actually cut her foot on the broken croc in the pool. For that alone I don’t think I’ll be returning. The changing rooms are old fashioned and not family friendly. Having to bring my 4 year old to the gents section and without any privacy it all felt pretty awkward. After 40 years of no work being done to the pool, the Shankill Leisure Centre has lost all its former appeal. Not recommended for a family swim at all.

Fantastic experience: Local leisure centre that offers swimming, gym and spaces for all sorts of sports. If you are going to use the swimming pool make sure to check out when the wave maker is on so you can experience it.

Positive experience: I'm not sure how to bring this, but my children are having swimming lessons there. The coach is really focusing on other younger children, which I don't have an opinion about it, but it would be beneficial for me if this course change. The dressing rooms and showers are imited, that you have to stay in a queue.

Positive experience: The place is ok it can do with a refurbishment thought coz other leisure centres in Belfast had been face lifted but it's still in its original state but it's not bad

Fantastic experience: We brought our kids here and now bringing our grandkids today was their first time in the swimming pool and they just loved it our neighbour works here and she's a lovely girl she was on reception today our grandkids where talking away to her will definitely by bring our grandkids every week now

Fantastic experience: Great wee space. Everything there. Plenty of Babel rack, trap bar, sledge pull, battle rope, kettlebell, you name it. Proper shower as they are cold water which is the best after work out for yours muscle. Cleanest gym toilet. Why go to the like like PureGym where facilities is so dirty. Highly recommended.

Positive experience: This leisure centre is like taking a step back to the 80s.. The pool Is not that good for lengths as its smaller and to shallow..the wave machine is good fun though

Negative experience: We are very disappointed from that leisure center of the 80's. Everything is old and not clean. In the swimming area are TWO deck chairs for all, no nice place to relax, on every wall are minimum 3 Signs with warnings or rules. One star for the staff, who was most time very friendly.

Positive experience: The building is showing it's age a little, but it has a good range of indoor facilities. I went here for swimming alone or with the family during the mornings. Provided school swimming lessons aren't in progress, it's not too busy (during term time).
