Positive experience: The facility is spacious and offers a good range of equipments. The 24/7 access is a definite advantage. Cleanliness is generally acceptable, I sometimes find that maintenance could be improved, especially in the shower areas.

Negative experience: No one re-racks weights, the lights are always strobing and the music is so loud and shit just turn it off, everyone has earphones.

Positive experience: Always good experience, tend to go late on when not so busy.

Negative experience: Got jokes trying to charge £4 for a can of C4 energy. Water in the Sahara is cheaper. Gym is ok, not that clean but lots of equipment. Music been the same lame rubbish for about 3 years, not dance music or anything with a high tempo. Slow pondering music.

Negative experience: really gone downhill. way oversubscribed so even during off peak hours you can struggle to get on the equipment, often no soap in the toilets which is poor; same with the bottles of disinfectant to wipe down kit, often empty. most people don't put weights away after use and are never pulled on it by staff, shame, used to be a good gym, decent(ish) value for money.

Negative experience: Booked In here for an induction and and wanted to speak to the team about getting a pt. No-one turned up. Wouldn't bother booking if I were you.

Positive experience: Great gym, frequently clean, weights normally racked unless busy period

Negative experience: The gym is generally unclean. I think you could have cleaners for most of the day cleaning. It would help if more staff were around enforcing ‘unspoken rules’ e.g. putting weights back where they’re from. People walk around in sliders (last I checked it’s not proper footwear) and don’t use towels on the benches. The leather on the benches and work out matts are ripped (it harbours a lot of bacteria and diseases like MRSA which can kill people with weakened immune systems). 2 stair climbers are out of order and have been for a long time. for a gym with a lot of members there’s no way you’re short of money to get them fixed. The hyperextension equipment is tilted to one side, when doing the exercise (it will cause more problems with someone’s back). The flavoured water machine can be out of flavour for days or a week at a time. Kids hanging around in the locker rooms waiting to steal someone’s belonging.

Positive experience: I've been going here for about 3 years, and for the price, it's pretty decent. The place is clean, they have a good range of equipment, and the staff are always friendly. But there's one big downside: the air conditioning. I don't know if it's broken or if they just never turn it on, but during the warmer months, it gets really hot and uncomfortable in there. It's tough to work out when you're sweating buckets before you even start. This one issue is making me think about finding a different gym. If they could fix the air conditioning problem, I'd be happy to stay and would probably recommend it to others.

Fantastic experience: Great gym with plenty equipment and actually okay people that are there to work out, don't seem to get any distractions and most are respectable of your space.

Negative experience: Chavs coming in and messing about on machines, not even using them just on their phone. Saw a log of poop in the shower that was still there after finishing workout 3 hours later. This place is grim man.

Fantastic experience: Loving all the new equipment ! I haven’t been for 4 months due to injury and lack of motivation but got there this morning and was really impressed.

Positive experience: Air con's gone again, of course, summer is coming! Can't complain about the gym itself though, still remains one of the best laid-out gyms I've ever been in, especially considering the area it's in.

Positive experience: Spontaneously arrived yday to check it out, to either change to this gym or leave PureGym altogether as unhappy with Rochdale gym. Found it nice, was bright with big windows and large well organised spaces. Really a very friendly welcome too from couple of PTs especially Lucas. Going to give it a go, and will report back experience. UPDATE Happy I moved to this gym, still finding it spacious and airy space even when busy. Dropping to 4* as I noticed there are a couple of bits of faulty kit I used today - rower foot strap completely missing & the crosstrainer closest the male changing rooms clanging, squeeling & the computer restarted mid session. I would also add that the kit is not throughly cleaned, as there's plenty of dirty and dust around the bases of kit.

Negative experience: Air con in the spin room doesn't work, not nice conditions to exercise in.

Positive experience: My go-to gym, improved a lot recently, tidier and cleaner than before. Less breakdowns of machines, plenty of parking space. Just need couple of more cable machines

Positive experience: Pretty spacious gym with basically all the equipment you would need. Sadly, and this isn’t even the staffs fault, no one puts anything back where it belongs so the gym is just an absolute free for all at all times. I spend more time looking for the weights I need than actually working out. I’m not entirely sure how this could be resolved but maybe just more staff on the go trying to organise throughout the day?

Fantastic experience: Best Puregym been too, great utilisation of space, enough leg press machines and good vibe. Machines also have the pins and clips unlike other Puregyms in the area.

Positive experience: EDIT - Aircon upgraded thank you sooooo much!!! ------ Aircon doesn't work properly nor the treadmill fans which is the reason we're looking for a new gym now. A bit overcrowded a lot of the time but nice selection of equipment.

Positive experience: Kit is worn out and the Aircon works only intermittently. The gym needs a lot of investment to return to the great gym it once was.

Negative experience: Beware of car thieves on this gym car park!! Had my driver side window broken into at around 10pm tonight while the gym was still busy. The area is just a hot spot for crime as I was looking round the car park while I was trying to understand what’s happened and noticed glass in multiple locations of the car park so I wasn’t the only person to be robbed here! Also a friends bike was robbed from here and phone so it’s just a dodgy gym and area to be in!

Negative experience: Rowing machines.. Half of the computers aren't working, footstraps broken not for use.. Been like this for weeks

Negative experience: Bad, very bad, when a machine is broken it's left broken for months and I also picked a virus from this gym and I've been ill for 4 weeks. Some dirty people coming to this gym and leaving viruses and bacteria to pick and get ill. Disgusting

Positive experience: Untidy, Weights left all over, groups of youths hang out around the weight benches.

Negative experience: There's ALWAYS a few machines and equipment that's broken and not fixed for weeks or months. Half their treadmills weren't working for over 6 months and some still not working. Soap dispenser in the locker room always broken. Worst maintained puregym I've been. Free weights area is ok.

Jan continues to push me to reach my body goals I highly recommend Jan's LBT class it is one of the best and i love her workout music

Negative experience: Been coming to this gym for years, in the past 6 months it’s been really poor, number of classes get cancelled on a weekly basis & the selection on offer is minimal. Cycle is by far the most popular class & they hardly have any classes. Time to move on I think.

Negative experience: I’ve been coming here years and in general it’s been fine, you get what you pay for. However, recently it seems to be in really poor condition, loads of broken equipment that’s just left for weeks and the changing room are really dirty. Unfortunately it’s time to start looking elsewhere.

Positive experience: Only been there once, so not sure to comment this early. Toilets were filthy, changing room was alright, showers were ok. Didn't like the treadmills as they are not heavy duty

Negative experience: *Update 20/02/23* I'm updating this rating mainly to help anyone else who might suffer a loss of personal property like I did on 13/02/23. My catalytic converter was stolen whilst parked in the middle of the main car park opposite the front of the gym. I hoped (and kind of expected) that cctv was in place so I could at least get a number plate of a car or anything to go on (it was stolen whilst I was in the gym between 21.00 and 23.00). I was told that the PG cctv only covers the entrance and the left hand side of the car park. Apparently, the cameras in the car park itself are not functioning and this is due to the car park being rented/leased rather than PG owning it. I was also told that there had been other 'incidents' in the car park recently before I became a victim of it myself. Whilst I appreciate that it's not necessarily PG who are responsible for this, as a minimum, it would've been nice to have been forewarned that there had been other recent incidents, and that the cctv doesn't cover the majority of the car park. Maybe a poster or 2 in the entrance and/or changing rooms would've been effective? The gym itself is generally good but a few things are in need of improving. The mens showers and changing rooms smell and I can't remember a time ever seeing them being cleaned despite having visited on multiple occasions, at totally different times and on different days of the week. Perhaps however, it might just be that I only seem to ever visit at the particular times before a clean is imminent? The other big bug bear for me is the total lack of hygiene at times. It's pretty disgusting when you have to clean other people's sweat before you use equipment, be it a cardio machine or weight machine. I realise this is pretty hard to police but honestly, I don't ever see anyone around to maybe even tell someone that this is a thing they should be doing, I can't say that I've seen any signs around the gym about this either (although I could be wrong on the latter). On the plus side, the gym is nice and big with lots of equipment, it would be nicer if there was a bit more space between the cardio equipment so that you're not perpetually having to dodge other people's sweat and feel like you're breathing the same breath as them! I hope I've managed to at least keep a bit of balance whilst suggesting ways for improvement and also potentially helping someone else not to become another victim of car crime in the car park without cctv! Positive experience: Great branch of puregym, there is always present of staff around to help, assist etc... I've only noticed that some off the equipments needs maintenance so they can be operate effectively and how they should be. Just wandering, why there is no air ventilation??

Positive experience: Not bad, very busy at times but has a lot of equipment and space. Some could do with renewing, and although it is not pricey, for just a gym it is still a bit up there. So far so good, but if prices do rise, it won’t be worth it anymore.

Negative experience: Update: Was given the option to freeze membership. Did so for one month but they still tried to charge me, then slapped on 2 fees for late payment and an admin payment if some sort.

Positive experience: When I attended my induction they didn't know I was there even though I got an email confirming. However it is clean with a good selection of equipment. Staff are a bit short on the ground though

Negative experience: Not enough space, for cardio and machine this is place is good but for weights and benchpress it's overcrowded even after waiting and after some other workouts you would find someone else has taken your spot. Staff does not look or act welcoming. So overall 2 stars. Funniest thing is a lot of built of testosterone so everyone will try to outdo each other with how many kg they could lift.

Negative experience: The gym is a great facility. It's really big and has plenty of members. However, those members don't seem to understand how to put equipment back, meaning you basically have to go on an excursion to find the weights or equipment you need. Very annoying. Also, the water machine that is supposed to give you flavoured water was broken, so it just gave plain water which is quite annoying when it's a feature of plus membership.
