Negative experience: About a year on from my last visit at the swimming pool here and it’s so disappointing. The showers stay on for about 3 seconds before needing to be pressed again, out of 6 hairdryers only one works (and barely), the bottom of the pool is covered in dirt :(. Shame all those improvements made not long ago have either been done poorly or no one has maintained them.

Fantastic experience: Very good place. Well maintained. There was a confusion in our booking. Personnels Mr.Jamie and Mr.Tom went out of their way and moved the ping pong table to another studio with all their might and helped us out. Big thanks to both of them. Completely made our day. Will surely visit again.

Fantastic experience: Pleasantly surprised and impressed with the communal changing facilities compared to how I remember how it was many years ago, tidy and spacious with warm showers. Pool plenty warm enough resulting in pleasant session for myself and wife (who hates swimming). Glad we didnt go to Cheadle now!

Positive experience: OK, this isn't one of those super pools that have the fancy wave machines, or strangely shaped pools (though there's nothing wrong with the latter either!). It has five marked lanes, but I usually go when it's set up for lane swimming, which splits those five lanes into three. It's not particularly deep either. As well as the pool, there's a gym hall that hosts indoor football and other events. The changing area is maintained to a high level of cleanliness as well. Please note that you will need a lock to fasten your locker, though there are a limited number available at the reception.

Positive experience: Update July 2024: cleanliness of the pool and changing rooms is disappointing. Black mould in the showers and detritus on the bottom of the pool is a put-off. Not the fanciest swimming pool in the world - not deep enough for diving, but it's warm and wet and quiet enough in the morning that I can get a good session of lane swimming in. Friendly staff and a good crowd of fellow swimmers too.

Negative experience: It is crazy. I want to go into the premise for the toilet this night, but the staff refuses me to go in.

Negative experience: Mickey mouse gym. Go to puregym or gym group MUCH better.

Fantastic experience: Very nice staff. They are very helpful and open to strangers. The gym is clean and quite well equipped and the courses are fun. There are also some 25 m swimming lanes. Overall a great experience!

Positive experience: Pretty standard public swimming pool with nice modern changing rooms (note that the changing area was completely renovated while it was closed for Covid lockdowns so some older reviews on here are no longer relevant in this regard) Well situated too, with plenty of car parking and easy access to local buses The pool itself feels a bit dated but is still perfectly adequate

Fantastic experience: Very good experience

Positive experience: Great Primetime Badminton club every Monday 1300 - 1500 followed by convivial tea, biscuits and conversation. I should add that the staff do an efficient and welcoming job.

Fantastic experience: Fabulous!! Great changing area and showers. A 25 metre pool. Friendly staff. Water was warm. Great atmosphere.

Negative experience: I went here hoping that this would be my new place to go swimming, however the pool is quite small and if I'm honest I don't think I have ever been to a pool I didn't like this much. It was really quite dirty and gross round the edges so much so that I felt like I wouldn't want to touch the side of the pool. Also the bottom of the shallow end was gritty on the floor. I wont be returning to any of the Life Leisure as I don't really want to experience that again.

Negative experience: I went to avondale this morning I'm disabled had to wait for a few minutes to go and get in the man took a look at me and did not let me on I have 2 waking stick s can not stand to long

Fantastic experience: I really like the gym and swimming pool, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the changing areas need updating. I do hope It will open on Saturday 25th July. Have missed it a lot.

Fantastic experience: In my 3rd week of using the Gym and it's changed my life, really look forward to my daily workout, it's given me a new lease of life. Great centre with friendly helpful staff.

Fantastic experience: I love going to my Aqua Aerobics class here. The class itself is a nice friendly group. I have for a short time just started a Tai Chi class here too which is also a very nice and friendly group. I have made loads of friends here. The people on the reception desk are very good, nice, friendly, and most of all, helpful. I love going here. It's the highlight of the week for me.

Positive experience: Staff nice and helpful. And facilities good. Changing rooms need a refurb and there are no changing facilities for parents and kids.. i have to take my young daughter in the mens changing rooms for swimming which i feel isnt really fair on her or the blokes. If you need a disabled parking space on busy nights forget it!! Everyone seems to use them with not a single disabled badge in sight. Nobody seems to care and despite it being a gym nobody seems to want the exercise of walking more than 10m from their car to the door. Apart from these annoyances it's a great place for adults and kids. Oh and it's bloody hot in there in the summer.

Fantastic experience: Before I joined this gym I was close to 18st. I am now down to 12st and feeling pretty good in myself. I'm not the most confident of people so this place is perfect for me. They have a quiet area which is away from everything so you can workout in your own comfort zone. The members are really friendly and the atmosphere around the gym is perfect in my opinion. There is a trainer there by the name of collin who is always on hand to help and will go up and beyond to help you achieve the goals you set yourself. I have been to quite a few gyms before I joined this one and I would recommend to all family and friends.

Positive experience: Basic changing facilities... desperately needs an update.. but the gym is nice, the staff are lovely and the pool is good for kids because it's usually quite warm

Positive experience: Lovely swim, ladies only session and only 3 other ladies in the pool, but the changing room area could do with a makeover, half of the lockers do not work

Positive experience: Sadly this swimming pool like most in Stockport is getting run down. You need a padlock for your locker so bring one or you'll have to buy one for about £4.

Positive experience: I only use the swimming pool on Sunday mornings. Pool is 25m, usually quite warm. Perhaps a little heavy on the chemicals. They tend to reserve half the pool for 3 children to have a lesson while 10-20 people use the other half, which can get a bit crowded.

Fantastic experience: Been a member for over a year now. Staff are friendly, nice atmosphere. A good age range from young to older. No 'steroid monsters' to sneer at you or intimidate and show off at this gym or people clogging up machines whilst they have their heads stuck in their phones like in orther gyms I've been in. You can do your own thing at your own pace but you can also ask for a personal trainer to help and inspire you if required.

Negative experience: Typical Stockport Leisure centre, cold - poorly maintained and expensive.

Fantastic experience: Staff extremely friendly,helpful and polite! Centre is extremely clean and well maintained,the staff look after it very well. The atmosphere is really nice and calm. The whole place is fantastic,one of the best centres I have visited!

Negative experience: The atmosphere in this place is shocking! Full of giggling little school girls, and guys showing off to them! Not a nice relaxing place to work out. Machines and equipment are facing a blank wall. Completely uninspiring! I will never step foot in that place again!
