Negative experience: Spent so long in the gym and swimming, got a £100 fine. Members should be exempt.

Fantastic experience: I've been going here for 10 years now. It's improved a lot recently with the revamped gym platform. I've generally been happy apart from occasional shower and gym temperature issues

Negative experience: Well for 50 pounds a month I expect earlier opening times or a 24 hours gym service what it is also disappointing is their little amount of classes a day just mornings and evenings. A bit disappointed probably won’t renew after my contract.

Negative experience: Booked a block of children’s swimming lessons, they emailed 40 mins before the start to cancel it. Refund 10days ! Very poor

Fantastic experience: Refurbished recently, lots of machines and free weights, classes are excellent. Swimming pool and sauna are well maintained.

Fantastic experience: Recently had a massive upgrade to the gym, loads more space and equipment. Was looking tired before but now it's been brought right up to date.

Positive experience: Only been here 2 weeks and still no training pack or shown how to use equipment so if you hurt yourself then it's on them. Health and safety is clearly not a priority just your payments.Being sat on a sofa talking about what you'd like to use is not an induction! For £65 a month on a pay as you go account you'd expect more, very disappointing. Staff arnt friendly and none of them have a clue what the other staff arent meant to be doing!

Positive experience: I think it's really good for gym, swim, sauna or steam with a massive jacuzzi to relax in.

Fantastic experience: It’s more expensive than other local gyms, such as The Gym, PureGym, all those places… but there are reasons for that! • The changing rooms and showers are always really clean and the lockers are nice and big. • The therapy pool, saunas, steam room etc are such a nice bonus. • Especially after the recent revamp of the actual gym…it’s awesome. Some great new machines added, the weight room is now MASSIVE!, and they sensibly got rid of one of the studios to move a bunch of cardio machines in there to make room for even more weightlifting and (I guess) CrossFit style stuff. Couldn’t be happier. Well done for thinking about what your members want. (I esp like those two new Hammer Strength leg presses! Maybe add a Hammer Strength upright chest press and we’re golden ✌️)

Negative experience: Unhelpful staff and swimming lessons are very inconsistent one week have a brilliant teacher other weeks poor teacher. The swimming lesson are the same every week same games and same skills

Negative experience: Sign up with family membership. Take kids out of peak times to use family pool. Family pool seemingly never actually available to families even in the middle of a week day. Friendly staff but clearly no thought into timings is made.

Positive experience: It’s ok. Changing rooms are nice. Clean a tidy. Main gym floor currently undergoing a revamp. Pool is freezing cold since the re lining. They have a stupid rule of no phones on the Poolside for swimmers or spectators of lessons. Life guards don’t seem to watch the pool just chat amongst themselves and fill in sheets on a clip board.

Negative experience: Bad customer service via email, so I just couldn't be bothered even going in to check it out.

Positive experience: Toilets are ancient but they are clean! Staffs lovely.

Positive experience: Not bad. Just BIG PROBLEM in the showers. Water is cold. And stops itself very quickly. No chance to wash long hair.

Negative experience: One member of staff here thinks it's acceptable to be rude and swear at customers. Was just getting ready to leave the changing rooms at closing time here, and was THREE minutes after 4pm when I decided to nip to the toilet on my way out. Staff members were still cleaning up, and therefore weren't ready to leave anyway, when one of them decided to tell me in a rude manner, 'excuse me we're closed' as I walked into the toilet cubicle, as if I had walked in off the street to use the toilet. Or as if I was actually going to not go to the toilet before leaving, just because he has said that at 16:03, when he was still doing his own jobs anyway and I clearly want holding anyone up from leaving. I informed him I was going to quickly use the toilet and then leave, to which he thought it was appropriate to tell me through the cubicle door that I was 'TAKING THE P**S' is this really what Total Fitness as a business considers acceptable behaviour, attitude and language for staff to use towards customers?? I doubt it. I'll be finding your name out tomorrow my friend and making a formal complaint. Let's see if the business does approve of this behaviour from staff! 3 MINUTES after closing time, when staff weren't ready to leave anyway, and it took me 20 seconds to use the toilet and leave.

Negative experience: Is real bad management specifically walkden one and also dirty old equipment without quality

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym. Big area. Lots of equipment. Staff are so friendly. Saying, Good morning, bye ect, this does means alot & this is what they are like at the Wakefield total fitness. No judgement. People working at their own level & respectful and polite to each other.

Positive experience: It's OK. If you look closely it's very tired and could do with a revamp and a better cafe. Pools also need to be cleaner more regular as it's always full of dirt and other items. The swimming lessons and the management are also atrotious. Nobody knows who's saying what and messages don't get relayed, even via email. Overall, the whole organisation seems poorly run. Were there anywhere near with the same facilities, I would take my business to them instead.

Fantastic experience: The staff here @ Wakefield always go above and beyond. The fitness classes are really well structured. The gym is very well maintained and cleanliness is always 100% The staff are very friendly, polite and make my son feel very welcome during his morning swim

Fantastic experience: Went for a free taster session and Charlotte went above and beyond to ensure I was well informed with what was there including classes and the pools. I initially went to look at the weights. The hydro therapy pool looks very inviting. You get alot for your money if you use all of it.

Positive experience: Facilities are great, but traveling from overseas, I think their plans leave a little to be desired. As they are very inflexible.

Negative experience: I've been going here for nearly a year now. I plan to cancel my membership. The roof leaks in many places when it rains. The equipment is dated and always something broken. Its frustrating to find a lot of its members dont put things back, like weights etc. In busy periods it's hard to get on equipment. I dont feel for the price I pay I get to enjoy the gym experience.

Positive experience: Massive Gym, great set of equipment and fairly quiet during the day. Good selection of gym classes but you have to be quick to get booked on some.of them. Really friendly staff. The hydro pool is annoyingly cold though.

Negative experience: Disappointed to say the least, I decided to join this gym as we were memebers before lock down and pretty shocked how run down, rusty and grubby the machines are now. Definitely not worth the money.

Positive experience: Total fitness, come on guys, this gym looks tired, the equipment is ok, the people are friendly, but when you compare it to Teesside, these guys need an upgrade, i wouldn't spend £45-55 a month here, sorry peeps.

Negative experience: While the staff are all fantastic and approachable, the centre itself is becoming quite dated and in desperate need of a revamp. The Treadmills are good, but that's about it when it comes to the cardio machines. Half the 4 rowing machines dont work, the x-trainers are the old style paddle that your feet constantly come off because they're not smooth enough. Bikes, while functional, are not as smooth as they would of been when new. The changing rooms are a great size and an integrated sauna is a great idea. the problem is, they haven't actually spent the time and effort or even money to look after these things since putting them in. Unfortunately upkeep is key. The swimming pool is great, never really busy, but im not surprised when you feel like a fish in a tank with all the gym goers looking down on you whilst they're running or on the bikes. This really could do with being looked at, maybe one way film, or blocking up the bottom half of the windows. The jacuzzi is a great size, just doesn't seem the cleanest. The steam room is very smelly. This really needs attention. The saunas out on poolside, again while great facility, they are just tired now and not looked after. All in all, the concept is great, the leisure centre/health club idea is just what I want. However, the Wakefield site is certainly not close to being worth £48 (Ish) per month membership. not without the overdue investment it needs to compete with other local health clubs such as bannatynes and nufflield. The place is simply just not up to scratch. Yes, it will have a small number of loyal clients, but it won't last. The place needs to reduce the price OR desperately needs to have a revamp of equipment, and maybe provide 1 extra staff member every day to really keep on top of the maintenance and cleanliness. (which I would much prefer) However for now, if all I am getting from Total fitness is basic equipment, old well worn equipment, tired facilities with questionable cleanliness, then I may swell save myself the money and go to a different local gym. I hate this.....all I really want is for Total fitness Wakefield to be WORTH me spending £48 per month to go.

Fantastic experience: Joined today. Great experience. Jess, a lady from sales, was very informative and helpful. Good facilities, spacious pools and jacuzzi. Nice saunas and a steam room.

Positive experience: Spas are always a neat plus when it comes to gyms. Most equipment is pretty jaggered/outdated, they have 2 squat racks and 1 deadlift platform. If they increased the amount (they could easily make room) it would be better. In terms of the cafe they have, you cannot bring outside food for obvious reasons, yet they always run out of sandwiches. There are no neighbouring shops to get nutrition after a session. The staff are very friendly and always open to a nice chat.

Positive experience: Joined happily because of the ladies only area. Been a member for about 2 months. Abit disappointed as there are only 2 treadmills in thar area and one has been broken since i joined. Took longer waiting for the one treadmill to become available, so took 3 weeks off from the gym so when I return it will be fixed. Disappointed to say returned today and still not fixed. I work full time and as a mother this has really ruined my experience. Hope they fix this asap.

Positive experience: It's a gym,does what it says on the tin. My bugs are , what ever time I go ,there's kids running riot in the changing rooms. There isn't really a place to do your own. Stuff either,,the studio I was told was for this, isn't .it didn't go down well I was in there doing a skipping session with a kids class waiting outside. If I was told the right info though..you know .

Positive experience: No problem with equipment. Pool and aqua-robics good. However it is not family friendly. The large cubicles intended for families are either in the ladies changing rooms or the men's This means I can't take my 9 years old grandson swimming as I don't want him to go to the men's changing area alone. It is dangerous. He is too old to be allowed into the ladies with me.

Fantastic experience: I was there working but this club is always on point the staff are super friendly, the equipment is always very clean and I can honestly say I've never seen a piece of equipment faulty or dirty, there's plenty to chose from and a cafe if you feel like having a brew

Negative experience: I had a yearly contract. I spoke to two girls on the front desk, three times over making sure my direct debit would be cancelled. It hadn't been and they are continuing to take money, unlawfully from my account, after my yearly contract is up. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. Avoid Total Fitness unless you want to be robbed

Fantastic experience: This is an awesome gym. I have registered here and the facilities are numerous to chose from. There are so many classes but I haven't tried any yet. There are saunas, steam rooms, and bubble jacuzzi to relax and reinvigorate. There are a couple of pools to swim ‍♀️. The gym is clean and smells good. Air circulation is great. Adequate lockers and changing facilities. I would recommend you try.

Fantastic experience: Went to watch my grandson in the pool.it was a great place was very clean every one very friendly.and the amenities they had there was very good. You could even get a nice drink in the café they have.

Negative experience: Difficult to get a straight answer to a straight forward enquiry. ie "How much is off peak membership please?" Got there in the end but, Gordon Ramsey!

Positive experience: Great place and lovely atmosphere. Plenty of space and machines for all with great PT staff however very questionable tiktoks from working staff about 'sneaky links'

Fantastic experience: My son loves coming here every week for his lessons. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. Changing rooms and pool area always clean! Never had any issues. The actual swimming lessons are brilliant! My sons confidence in water has grown so much since joining. Would highly recommend x

Negative experience: The folk who work there have been nothing but helpful and seems to be some lovely folk who attend. The showers and changing areas are well looked after and clean. Alas joined in December and in search of a new gym with pool. For various reasons I can't access the main pool but joined anyway as they have a small pool and a hydrotherapy pool. Hydrotherapy pool floor is a little slippy to do physio in (the main reason I joined). I therefore need to use the small pool. Unfortunately the small pool is dirty. Has debris floating (hair and other stuff I don't want to think about) and the sides of the inside of the pool are green in places. The base of the pool also has questionable black marks. I have reported the issues. Will try again next week and if its still the same will reluctantly cancel my membership. The membership is not cheap and I would expect more for what I'm paying.

Negative experience: Poor gym, equipment dated and worn out and nothing seems to get fixed quickly. Plunge pool out of order and not to be re opened. Steam room forever breaking. For the membership price they ask for you get little for your money. Pool now does not do lane swimming until after 7pm every week night which is no good, really gone downhill as a gym over the last few years, not enough class variation and the booking system of classes is poor quality, people book and don't turn up but classes show full so cannot book on to them. As big as a franchise as total fitness is then it really needs to re evaluate the whole process and them gym. Another gym where the money comes first above customers and customer service.

Negative experience: Worst experience I’ve ever had with a gym. Used a guest pass for my first visit ever, the receptionist didn’t show me anything barely said hi, she seemed like I was bothering her with coming there and that she had to open the gate for me to get in. Only half of the machines had pins to choose weights and the equipment doesn’t make sense - smith machine is going sideways (not much use), cables are actually flat rubber so you can’t use it properly for anything because It’s limiting the angle. Benches are wobbly and too narrow. If you are an experienced fitness person don’t bother training there because you really have to improvise to have a quality training but it won’t be great like it is in a proper gym. The only good thing was sauna - Spent couple hours in the welness area, but thanks to the ignorant staff I came home to a £100 fine - only later I found out that their parking Isn’t actually theirs and you have to put your registration in a machine inside - but you will only learn the hard way as the staff won’t tell you anything. Been to at least 40 gyms across UK and Europe but this is the first ever scam-gym I’ve come across. Wakefield

Positive experience: After forcibly having to transfer from closed down Huddersfield TF branch this year, the facilities are just the same but the staff are not as friendly and professional as Huddersfield.. or Lincoln where I originally came from in 2020. I suggested a couple of inexpensive additions to the gym i.e weighted hulahoop and donated a skipping rope but not seen them in the gym so far! Complacency seems to have set in and concerned that they do not Covid temperature test every person who goes through the barrier into the premises!

Negative experience: Place seemed OK but 56 pound for me 39 yo and cheaper for my son per month 18 yo. I asked why they said because of my age, that's discrimination of age. Then to hear some female member of staff in the background say not our usual type of client ! What because I think its an unfair system and compared to other gyms it's nearly triple the cost ? When customers come in to enquire about something it's an A to B conversation unless I asked you the questions C yourself out.

We mostly use the pool and got to say how lovely and clean the lady there keeps the womens changing areas so impressed,she makes it a pleasure to go!
