Negative experience: The gym equipment is in terrible condition, the staff are rude. Everything looks shabby and not enough space. The trainer may just ask you to leave the equipment for their clients. For that kind of money you can find a much better gym

Fantastic experience: Love it. I've just started uni and on my first day, I joined the Maindy Centre and booked a swim for Fitness class. From 7am I'm ready for a day off study and motherhood. I love it already.

Positive experience: Swimming pool was in good condition however there is no fix plans for booking and they are changing sessions regularly.

Negative experience: It was my first time attending better at maindy center on Wednesday 8th May 2024 the staff were very welcoming and lovely in-spite me not being able to access and happily let me in point was I do have a membership. The issue was when I attended on Friday 10th May 2024 - I had the same problems but unfortunately one of their staff members a man who had long ash blonde pony tail and wears glasses he might have been called Ashley - he has a very condescending demeanour and can be unprofessional, rudely boasting to another member of staff of me about other work colleagues not doing their job properly for letting me in on the Monday just very unacceptable behaviour all said infront of someone who isn’t a colleague! He told me I couldn’t access the gym because I’m on the wrong membership that’s fine and fair but there’s no need to belittle individuals over it. I’m disappointed about how I was treated that day and I did like the gym but his whole demeanour made to feel very uncomfortable and anxious staff unfortunately.I’ve since cancelled my membership and won’t be returning, will recommend friends and family to do the same.

Fantastic experience: Easily my favourite gym in Cardiff. While it lacks some equipment that would be nice, it makes up for it through a swimming pool, friendly and helpful staff and not a large volume of people throughout the day. The price is a bit steep, but with a student discount it's not the worst, considering you get both the gym and the swimming pool as part of the deal.

Positive experience: I’ve been using the Maindy gym and swimming pool for a number of years now, and I’ve enjoyed it, the facilities are fantastic, however I do have a complaint that the swimming pool temperature could be warmer, especially now that it’s winter, it feels so uncomfortable to be swimming in low temperatures and then the showers are never consistent some days warm some days hot water, and I’m not the only one who feels this way, most of the leisure centre users feelings are mutual, I do request you look into this matter.

Negative experience: Man at reception was very rude. Told him it was my first day at this new gym and didn’t bother to show me around. In fact he told me I was “3 minutes early” for my session I had booked and to “come on time next time” when I come a bit earlier to get changed?. Gym is also very small and it is more expensive than gyms that are much better, like the gym I joined after leaving this one :).

Negative experience: First time the children and i have ever stepped foot in the centre today. while i was making my way back in, i asked for directions to the changing rooms as i didnt know where they were and i was obv trying to abide by covid rules. The lady who helped me was friendly but as i was talking to her (receiving the directions), a blonde woman and swim teacher yelled at me to go and give my son's stuff to him ! I'm sorry who are you ??? Is this how you talk to all your customers / parents?? Disgusting and i wont keep quiet if it happens again!

Positive experience: Staff are friendly, booking is quick and easy. Only thing is it gets quite hot in the gym! Recommend grabbing some fresh air by the windows

Negative experience: I had my first session at Llanishen leisure centre post lockdown, where I was given instructions and information about the new rules and systems by the friendly receptionist. Unfortunately no such luck at Maindy. I had booked for the gym and swim. Left the gym to the back of the building, walked back in for the pool after guessing where to go, only to be told off by lifeguard for using the changing rooms to get changed?! Lifeguard proceeded to give attitude and failed to answer my questions. Instead was treated with a shoulder shrug of a response. Love the facilities, not keen on the attitude of the staff.

Negative experience: I really enjoyed going to this pool but bought a swimming costume from them back in February and tried to get a refund a week later and after a back and forth with the manager, Anthony, which included providing him with receipts for my purchase and a promise of a refund, I have not had my refund. I am a student and £25 is a lot of money for me. I cannot call anyone as call centres are down and emails feel useless as the replies are sporadic and unhelpful. The times I've tried to go in I've been rudely told by the receptionist that the manager is not in and she can do nothing for me. I've been more than patient with waiting until you reopen due to lockdown but this is ridiculous. I want my refund.

Negative experience: Becouse too much dificalties not easy way, and parking is so expensive. If forgete car rijister number its very big amount of fine its totaly rong.

Positive experience: Amazing cycle track outside. Expensive membership though.

Positive experience: A well equipped gym but space is limited at busy periods. The pool is very popular and I do tend to avoid it in favour of Eastern leisure centre.

Fantastic experience: Is the best gym with very nice and friendly staffs. You can you the dance studio for dancing and yoga. Is just amazing .

Positive experience: Recently refurbished. It has gym, swimming pool and a race track for bikes. It's also a good place for those free cycle lessons.

Fantastic experience: Very well equipped gym, much improved since it was refurbished a while ago. Can get busy early evenings but equipment is well maintained and plenty of weights & benches to work with. Changing rooms are a bit tired. Pool has 2 shallow ends so is good for younger children.

Negative experience: Awful customer service, the staff didn’t know what they were doing, gave me a wrong membership which I had to pay more for. I had to spend about an hour just waiting for the receptionist to find out how to change it, another hour on actually changing it. Not a fun experience.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic facility for Cardiff and the surrounding area. To have a 6-lane 25m pool and a closed road, tarmac velodrome on the same site is extremely rare in the UK & makes for a great sporting hub!

Positive experience: I love the big bicycles truck. And i am not 100% sure but I think it has lights on till 22:00 The dirt bike trail are dangerous and I don’t think anyone use it at all. The center looks big. (Never been inside) Got a massive parking area.

Positive experience: I only use the changing rooms, showers and pool, so can't attest to the rest of the centre, but for what I'm paying every month, it's an absolute steal! The pool can get very busy at times, so you have to pick your hours wisely if you're looking to do lane swimming, but it's what you'd expect, a 25m pool.

Positive experience: Gym is spacious and clean, showers however are not. Went in as it opened this morning, changing room benches still covered in mud and footprints. In the men's changing room most of the showers have no curtains so are open to the room, women's is not much better. Overall it needs a refurb. Membership is good value if you pay for a year outright.
