Fantastic experience: My daughter and her friends came to the public Ice skating session. They had a great and enjoyable time. Music was amazing. Staff were friendly

Negative experience: This place became horrible! I have got a membership for almost 3 years and i was happy with everything, but now they changing the rules not for customers, they just want to have more money from you. If you cancelled your class 3-4 hours before it started, they will charge 4£ from you just for nothing. Now If I want to go to gym, i need to scan 100 hundred times the QR code and its working after few minutes of trying. Woman’s toilets are out of order for a long time, I can use toilet for disabled people, it’s not a big problem. British lady that is sitting in reception is rude. Cleanes of the swimming pool can be better, but it’s always with lots of hair in it. Changing rooms are dirty as well. I’m paying for this 30£, but it doesn’t feels like it. I hope you will fix it.

Fantastic experience: I had never used sapphire before but I had a tour of the facilities that they had buy a helpful member of staff a little while later I decided to use the swimming pool which is excellent and bye my experience is a great way to relax and keep fit so my advice is come along and have a look for yourself

Negative experience: I don't come here to ice skate as I am disabled and have to pay full price for my carer which means I have to pay twice when someone who isn't disabled pays less than me. It's very rare to find a place that does this as most places understand that disabled people have no choice but to bring an extra person with them

Negative experience: Staff here are extremely rude. They are very ableist and only care about money but provide a terrible service!!!

Fantastic experience: My little one goes to swimming classes here. So far loving it. Most of the swim teachers are amazing and attentive, apart from one that seems more interested in having a chat with the lifeguard rather than pay attention to the kids in the water.

Fantastic experience: Yesterday 30.08.24 visit made alot of difference for myself & other user members of the leisure centre fatalities. Emily staff member before becoming a lifeguard had a conversation with a female member about the non members using the inhealth suite (steam room). Yesterday Emily being now being a lifeguard carried out a wristband check when myself & the lady were in the inhealth suite. This was nice to see & hear this female staff member Emily did excately what she said she would do as a lifeguard. As non members regularly use the facilities inhealth suite (steam room) & sauna without wearing a wristband. Good job lifeguard Emily please keep this up. leisure centre member Kind Regards Tony

Negative experience: DO NOT SUBSCRIBE FOR THEIR MEMBERSHIP!!!! They will charge you forever without any ability to cancel it. I didn't even know that they were charging me because my daughter finished classes 2 years ago. Then I noticed their fee on my statement, so I called them asking to cancel it. I was told to email them. I did it, they acknowledged my email, but no response. 6 months later I noticed that they were still charging me! I wrote to them again - no response. So, I had to ask my bank to cancel their direct debit. Terrible customer service! I'm not sure if it's legal, I will have to report it further.

The staff have never been rude, and I can say that some of them go above and beyond to accomodate your needs, one in particular is a blonde girl called Amy, 'who helps people with disabilities in the gym'. What a lovely girl!

Negative experience: this is my atrocious reveiw of sapphire ice and leisure the reception did not let me go to my swimming lesson and they have the ordasaty to charge £33 a month. I am appuled about the state of the bathroom and the swimming pool and the Lack of effort of the faculity at swimming they dont have the time to pay attention to the students. I was disgusted about this. But this one careless lady called Ashley was incredibly rude. save your money save yourself from getting angry and frustated because this is just a circus

Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed with the swimming lessons at Sapphire Ice and Leisure. Over the past four weeks, my son's regular teacher has been absent, and the facility scrambles to find last-minute substitutes. Often, these substitutes are lifeguards who, while qualified to teach, are clearly unprepared and inattentive. The lack of consistent instruction is frustrating and detrimental to my child's learning experience. The chaos in the pool is alarming. Teachers struggle to control the 5-6 children in their classes, often looking elsewhere instead of focusing on the kids. This is not only ineffective but also dangerous. There have been multiple instances where my son and others were left unsupervised in the water, which is unacceptable for a facility responsible for children's safety. When I inquired about the recurring absence of instructors, the pool manager admitted that staffing issues are common on weekends. They are short-staffed both in terms of lifeguards and teachers, which raises serious concerns about the overall safety and hygiene of the facility. It's alarming to think that corners might be cut in these critical areas. The customer service is abysmal. The reception area is always overwhelmed, with long queues and only two staff members who can't manage the crowd efficiently. Despite seeing administrative staff behind a door, they rarely come out to assist. When complaints are made, a sub-manager merely advises to write a complaint and promptly disappears, indicating a culture of avoidance and negligence from the top down. This facility, run by the council, exemplifies the inefficiency and mismanagement seen in many public institutions. It's clear that they lack the necessary staff and resources to provide a safe and quality service. I am genuinely concerned about the hygiene and safety standards being compromised here, which puts children and all users at risk. I strongly advise against using Sapphire Ice and Leisure for swimming lessons or any other activity. The risk to health and safety is too high, and the level of service is unacceptable. Save yourself the frustration and potential danger – find a better-managed facility for your needs.

Negative experience: Every time taking my daughter for swimming can always smell the toilet from the locker area. Today couldn’t help it and reported to Receptionist with the respond ‘Oh Ya.’ Finish swimming lesson and back to the locker area smell remain the same. I don’t think they really look after the toilet area.

Negative experience: I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with an experience my children and I had at Sapphire Ice & Leisure on 15/06/2024, We had reserved swimming time from 15:30 to 16:30. However, at 16:28, a lifeguard approached us and informed us that our time was almost over. And the pool was less than half empty. While I understand that staff needs to ensure everyone adheres to their allotted time, I felt that being approached two minutes before the end of our session was unnecessary and disrupted our enjoyment. This early reminder negatively impacted our experience, especially as we were looking forward to making the most of our full hour. I would appreciate it if the staff could allow patrons to enjoy their full reserved time without premature interruptions.

Negative experience: Good gym layout, but wouldn't recommend U15 athletes who actually wanna go further beyond as they only let you do one hour a day. None of the employees told my son this. He's been doing back to back sessions many months now inform your employees please. Also

Fantastic experience: Love this place. Been going for 2 months now. Swimming rooms always clean, gym has everything possible and all the staff are so polite and helpful.

Negative experience: I have monthly abonament for swim and for sauna. Most of the time I didn't found space at sauna ,but in the sauna most of the time was 4,5 persons. Isn't alowed to use the sauna because I haven't booked. Most of the time the water too cold, polo too full and the staff awful, they can not give the first aid. Negative experience: Small rink but ice is good. Someone was skating super fast behind me and crashed into me. When I commented that he needs to be more careful he said something about me stopping in front of him. Later on I found out he also works as a marshall. Regardless, what you work as and how good you are. You need to keep a safe enough distance to stop if the person in front of you stops suddenly. If you crash into someone's car it's always the one who crashes into you from behind at fault. People were skating anti clockwise as well and many breaking safety rules. Terrible. I read someone else had bad experience with Marshalls having fun instead of doing their jobs as well. No surprise to read that. Hire better people who actually care about safety rather than having fun themselves please.

Positive experience: Nice architecture and facilities changing rooms can be a bit dirty hence the 4 stars.

Fantastic experience: I was involved in a situation of miss communication and for some reason my gym membership got cancelled and ended up barred from the facilities but as soon as I found out I got in touch with the facilities Manager (Jay) and to my surprise he was the kindest and most professional person I've met in years . I've explained what happened and he told me he would investigate the situation and that he would call me as soon as possible..and within the hour I got a call from him telling me not to worry and that he would sort everything out himself and he did. Excellent person and very good facilities. Everything is always clean and organised, staff are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend.

Positive experience: Romford Raiders beat MK Lightning in the last game of the season. The young team worked hard to keep the couple of thousand strong spectators fed and watered maintaining politeness, professionalism and a smile throughout. The venue seriously has to review the toilet situation, at very least monitor their cleanliness. I like this venue and Romford is lucky to have swimming and skating in their town centre. This is an out of town experience everywhere else in the country.

Negative experience: Shame that yet another disco session delivered unsafe and very disappointing visit. Won’t be coming back. Atrocious music choice including heavy metal, so loud to the point you need ear plugs resulting in us leaving early as my daughter ended up yet again with massive headache. Plus so called ice marshals are too busy having fun with their “mates” instead of making sure certain hockey skaters are not putting others in danger. On this occasion witnessed 4 very bad near misses including my own daughter who’s a competitive figure skater and 2 where they have actually taken out others. Absolutely disgusting. Ice marshals have done nothing. That’s what you get when “CHILDREN” are employed to look after children. Don’t waste your time and money. Won’t be back ever again for public session of any kind, private patch ice only. Shame on you management.

Negative experience: They refused to let my disabled client to borrow a float for 20mins as we forgot for the first time in 4 years.. its disgusting! It caused alot of upset and issues which caused them to leave the pool after 5 mins. Obviously confused and upset why there are hundreds of floats around she can't use. This is not an autism friendly place who don't care about customer loyalty!

Negative experience: The official hockey game is cancelled today on a very short notice because the venue cannot prepare the ice for the game! SAPPHIRE ICE without the ice! Outrageous!

Negative experience: Been there for 5 months.. they least care about children learning swimming. Class is for 30 mints like from 6.15 to 6.45 in evening and they started to close everything at 6.30 only as they have to go home . Now they removed they started removing the rob between adults who comes to lear swimming and childrens. 4 Adults were given around 70 percent of space and 7 children were given 30 percent of soace. Adults were so close to children that they would might hit children while swimming and when you questions that they just laugh on you and show you attitude like do whatever you want to do specially there staff lacha who believes to supervising there. Teachers get more concentration on time instead of your child. They eagerly wait to finish the time and don’t focus on your child to learn swimming

Positive experience: I swim here regularly. It is always very clean. The staff are mostly friendly and helpful but I was disappointed when I visited on 18 March 24. I had difficulty inserting my key into locker 47 and another customer pointed out that she had the same trouble and advised me to mention it at reception on my way out. As I was leaving I approached a young man at the desk, excused myself and started to explain. I saw that he was looking elsewhere and clearly not listening to me, and when he sensed I was a bit perplexed, his explanatory grunt was, "Someone wants me." There was no 'excuse me' or 'sorry, someone wants me over there, I'll be with you in a minute' etc. I am a bit old fashioned and set a lot of store on basic civility and good manners and was so disgusted by the filppant attitude that I just turned and walked off in disgust. I could not see the point in me wasting my time trying to explaining anything to someone who was clearly not interested. At the end of the day, problems with their facilities is not my problem or responsibility. One swallow does not make a summer though, and I hasten to point out that this is the only time I was disappointed in anyone connected with this establishment. Recently, I had forgotten to book my swim and the barriers did not open. It took me a minute realising why, and when I mentioned it to the lady behind the desk, she sorted it immediately and was extremely pleasant and helpful with it. I haven't tried other facilities yet, but from what I can see, the place is well run and a pleasure to visit.

Negative experience: The floors and cubicle floors look quite dirty perhaps they could be cleaned more often

Negative experience: Why is the shower and changing rooms so dirty? toilets are absolutely disgusting, showers are covered with grim soaps residue or what not. Changing rooms are literally muddy puddle with hairs everywhere. It is a newly build amazing place and it's so sad its probably 5..6 years old and is so so dirty. Needs a deep clean !!! Negative experience: DONT GO TO THE ICE SKATE AREA, they lost my shoe and replaced with someone else's. They promised to compensate but it has been more that a year and no one has reached out to me of this incident or compensated.

Negative experience: I went to the sapphire ice leisure and to join the swimming pool but the water was dirty and cold and my sister's son was shivering because the water wasn't hot enough and I told them to check and they said is normal even if it was clearly cold for the baby who was shivering and crying. After a few minutes I saw that the situation wasn't changing and asked for a refund as I just got there for 20 minutes and one of the managers told me that I will get the amount I paid credited to my account but when I got out and changed and took all my belongings they told me that no refund was possible and while I was in the changing area the area was dirty and poor maintained by everyone. I hope I will never have to deal with sapphire ice leisure again as this was the worst experience ever in a swimming pool. If sapphire ice leisure is reading this please improve your changing maintenance and customer service because they lied and didn't even say sorry for what happened.

Fantastic experience: Good family fun time although the water was a bit cool when you first get in!

Positive experience: Great for ice skating especially Friday disco 3.30 till 5.30pm. Downside cashless system only. So frustrating the snack machines (cashless only) dont work. You have to be a member to book in and they can never find my details. A 3 to 4 storey climb upstairs to ice rink

Negative experience: My children attend swimming lessons. Teachers are amazing and lessons at very good level. Unfortunately changing rooms are disgustingly dirty! Hairs and mud everywhere and it smells urine. Someone should make sure that people wear shoe covers also more cleaning is needed.

Negative experience: I went to Sapphire Leisure centre on Sunday 18/06/2023 with my wife and two sons to use the swimming pool. Unfortunately we will not be coming back. The level of cleanliness was gross. We walked to every cubicle hoping to find a semi clean one. There was dirt and hair on the wet floor in every changing area. We wish we brought crocs or flip flops with us. Sapphire Leisure centre get on top of the cleaning it is not good enough !

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this gym, it is very clean but affordable, the staff are all lovely. I love the virtual classes especially that they have early morning and late evening classes which suits for those like me working long hours.

Fantastic experience: Good gym equipment. Clean facility. Nice cafe with smoothies etc. Ideal if you want to get on with it.

Negative experience: Go to watch ice hockey. Bag checks on the door and not allowed to bring in food or drink but nothing substantial to buy on site for someone who suffers with intolerances or for those who are vegetarian. As someone who needs to eat at certain times to avoid illness, this is not good. The ice hockey, however, is very enjoyable. The rink is good. Toilet facilities are fair but you need to get there before the end of the hockey period or you have to join a long queue, same for purchases at the café.

Fantastic experience: A modern place where you can enjoy sports.

Positive experience: Nice and clean. The only thing I don’t like is they only have direct debit options for swimming classes and you have to pay for every class no matter you attend or not attend which is kind of unfair. Rest it’s perfect.

Positive experience: Sapphire Ice & Leisure offers outstanding facilities, organized operations, immaculate cleanliness and top-notch maintenance. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I have been a member of a private gym for the past two decades, but this place surpasses it in every way. Moreover, the cost of membership is much lower than I am used to. Highly recommended!

Negative experience: As I have disabilities, even though I am a full member, I am restricted to only 2 activities. My weekly exercise used to be water workout, but the main pool is so cold now that it's painful for me to even get in much less exercise. So now restricted to training pool which is too shallow and is also been colder than before. Therefore, for £25 a month- I'm lucky if I can access the health suite once a week. The flooring around the pool and in changing rooms is dangerous because it is always wet and slippery (even with pool shoes on). l have witnessed elderly people slip and fall. Everytime I go, I worry that I will slip and fall. I suggested numerous times for them to put pool mats down. All staff are friendly, and I look forward to engaging with them when I am there.

Positive experience: Went for an ice hockey game. Good bit of entertainment, ability to get food and drink here. Seats were very cramped and uncomfortable so would recommend bringing a pillow if you're gonna be sat for an extended period.

Negative experience: Good facility. No coffee machine in the ice rink though - must be the only instance of this in the country.

Fantastic experience: Great place to go if u want to work out or go for some family fun the staff are really welcoming and friendly I use the gym everyday here at Romford even tho I av one close to me but I’d rather travel to Romford one where I feel more at home than I would do at Dagenham one

Fantastic experience: A great place for the family. Pools are of good size, decent size gym, sauna and a cafe too. Really big spectator area for the swimming pool.

Positive experience: I used to be at Nuffield and this is half the price with a bigger pool. All in all it’s a great big gym but lots need to be improved. Good points: - opening hours are pretty good - big pool - some good exercise classes but there needs to be more with a teacher Not so great points - gym equipment on gym floor. Barely any bar bells and there’s a bit of a man’s club in the weight section which is off putting. More bare bells and a bigger area is needed for free weights - too many teenagers messing about on gym equipment - not enough body pump classes with a teacher and only one boxing class a week which is rubbish. No body combat, not even one class with a teacher.

Positive experience: Owing to imminent closure of Fitness First Romford l joined S&I today. Seems okay apart from some users not leaving the area as they found it. Some unruly children not being minded by their parent and people entering the steam/sauna without booking/payment just because their children are having swimming lessons! I was told to "Go back to Africa" by another user today: Tuesday, 18th April because he was waving around a sprayed mat of whatever in the steam room and l told him to "Stop that". I reported him to staff after l informed him he probably had more in common with Africa than l as l was born and bred in UK! I mainly use the steam room in S&l - Jan 2024 l have decided NOT to renew my membership Other users leave a lot to be desired, in my opinion. Some don't appreciate the chillaxing aspect. Some use it like it's an extension of the gym, others think it's a chat room, etc The lockers are always dirty and some users don't incorporate the operation of leaving an area as you would like to find it. Ininvested my subscription fee in the purchase of a portable steam room.

Fantastic experience: Really friendly staff and a great gym for a really good price

Positive experience: Great place to go! They have all you need, Swimming pool, Gym, and Ice skating. The gym is really cheap compared to the other gyms around Romford. Although as I came to enter the swimming pool, I spotted quite a lot of white hair. On that day I started to feel uncomfortable to go to the swimming pool. Everything else was Amazing!

Fantastic experience: Best experience I have had ! Staff members were so authentic and real and genuinely helped out and were calm and friendly and It made the entire experience one which made our day and I will most definitely be going back for some ice skating, snacking and to feel some more of that love from staff : ). Negative experience: Very rude staff, i got told to sit in different seats which i understood but as i tried to some woman with black hair started shouting at me. It made me upset and ruined my day.

Positive experience: Despite Sapphire and Ice being recently opened the swimming area is poorly designed and in poor condition. The smooth tiling on the floor of the Changing Village and pool becomes like the skating rink and is extremely dangerous. The floor in the accessible changing room is constantly flooded as it is flat water on it doesn't reach the drain area making it difficult for disabled people to use it safely and keep their clothes dry.

Negative experience: The staff at the desk are rude and unhelpful. I had already booked swimming for my son and myself, just needed to be allowed in.. they don’t make eye contact whilst you’re obviously waiting like they don’t want to be bothered by you. The small pool, for children and families was cold. I’ve been there before when it’s warm but we only stayed half an hour as my 3 year olds lips were turning blue. Then onto the dirty changing room again, toilets without toilet seats. Just can’t believe how new the building is to look soo disgusting.

Negative experience: Usually go to this gym most evenings and have done so for a couple of months now and have had no problems, until today when I was questioned about my membership. The women questioned me was ‘Kirsty’ as I seen her name tag, she was rude from start to finish and gave me a really bad attitude. I don’t expect this customer service from any Everyone Active gym and was really disappointed with how she dealt with the problem.

Fantastic experience: Great gym Great classes Helpful and friendly staff

Negative experience: I joined this leisure centre when it opened in 2018. The Gym was a pleasure to visit and staff were keen to help and motivated. I moved my membership over to Harrow Lodge but unfortunately due to personal circumstances I needed to change back to Sapphire for convenience. I'm so sad to see that the gym that I used to rave about had lost its edge. Whilst the gym had received a new refurbishment unfortunately the staff were constantly on their mobiles, ipads or even laptops, either sitting in the office or downstairs talking with reception leaving the gym unstaffed at peak times, along with bad attitudes when you asked them to unlock a studio to do your booked class often missing the start as the studio was not being unlocked on time. The Gyms equipment was sometimes dirty as were the changing areas with over flowing bins let alone the toilets. Everyone Active has just increased their membership costs however they should be decreasing the cost at Sapphire as the service I received and what I saw was short of shocking. I returned to Sapphire on the 1st of April but only lasted a few weeks I just couldn't stand the sloppy service which followed by a complaint sent by email to a senior manager outside of Sapphire, which was referred back to the gym manager to manage, due to the response, I immediately cancelled my membership as there was no acknowledgement of what was occurring. Not only did they lose a member but also a P/T member. Sapphires loss is another leisure centres gain. Not a gym that I would recommend try Harrow Lodge, or if it needs to be in Romford there are 4 other leisure centres all of which are located in and around the town.

Fantastic experience: Very clean and lovely! For a very fair price you can enjoy pool, sauna and steam room. Also there is ice skating, but it wasn't open during the time I was there, but the pool is great for the family. The reception lady was very helpful and friendly which provides great customer service and a key aspect to what I always look out for. There is also a little cafe and shop to grab essentials or quick bite.

Fantastic experience: Went ice skating here with my daughter, called them up beforehand to double check the best way to book. Really helpful on the phone and on the day.

Positive experience: I went there for swimming. I must say that as relatively new centre there are lots of issues. Changing rooms and showers were far from clean. It looks a bit run down everywhere. I don't like idea that all the people need to leave swimming pool at the same time. There is not enough showers to accommodate such number of people all in one go. You can catch cold waiting for a shower to be available. Few times during the swim I got some hairs entangled between my fingers...I don't know, maybe just my luck... I feel that things there could be organised much better. Haven't really use the gym so I can't comment. I just h

Negative experience: Please note joining fee is more at this center. I have been waiting over a Month for the manager to refund as I moved my daughter to our local swimming center for lessons. Emails and phone calls are being ignored. Enough to tip anyone over the edge!!! Im due over £70 pounds and these thieves wont return it!!

Fantastic experience: Went to watch Romford Junior Raiders... Nice rink I have to say. Liked the free Sunday parking around the corner too. Clean rink with a decent enough drinks outlet. Only down side is the hot food left something to be desired but then it's probably better for a bigger game!

Negative experience: I am appalled that this centre has stopped taking cash payments at the cafe. Cash is legal tender and by you refusing it puts you in dishonour. Read the Bills of Exchange Act!

Negative experience: Really disappointed about the ice coach called Jane. She doesn’t look like energetic in teaching & guiding the children. She doesn’t know how to give feedback on the learners in her class! My daughter has done better than other children in the level 3 group. So I told her to ask the teacher what does she need to do more to go to level 4. Jane told my daughter that “you need to stop messing around and start behaving”! 1. I always with my daughter every time she has lesson and I haven’t seen any misbehaviours from her. I always remind her to listen to teacher before the lesson. 2. This is not an appropriate answer because it really puts the kid down and she didn’t enjoy the lesson. She cried after the lesson because she didn’t understand what has she done wrong. 3. We just wanted to know which techniques my daughter needs to improve to go to level 4. How hard is the answer?

Negative experience: It's a brilliant place and they keep the ice clean and easy to skate on unfortunately though they do not keep the ice skating boots clean at all as another person off the ice jumped with the skates on and caught the back of my leg and cut it and then the cut later on got an infection by the time I got home it was throbbing and I saw it was infected although the cut was small it still got an infection they need too clean the floor before getting on the ice that area was very dirty and they didn't even clean the skates after uses they just put them back on the rack also the floor when everyone else it was dirty when I arrived

Fantastic experience: We absolutely love it here. Staff are great, ice is always spot on. Our kids have learned so much visiting a few times. Dirt cheap too!

Fantastic experience: It is great watching the Romford Raiders ice hockey team great atmosphere staff are very friendly and helpful and polite it is a great place to go.

Positive experience: Good modern facilities and services. Has a really well run swim school with a variable depth pool for different sessions. Decent gym and classes. Plus an ice rink... its decent
