Negative experience: My 6 year old had his first swimming lesson and for the first time not using any arm bands or life vests I was nervous as it was however through out all of his lesson I was very disappointed due to the swim teacher constantly being on there phone and not paying attention to the class. Wasting money for a swim teacher just to be on there phone absolutely shocking!!!

Negative experience: Would not recommend as every time I book on for a Wednesday they say I have been booked on but when I turn up and say I’ve booked apparently I haven’t this had happened multiple times and is a joke waste of money

Negative experience: Only 3 Disabled carparking spots only 1 family changing baby and that was like a shoe box

Negative experience: The water in the small pool was freezing! My 2 year old's lips were trembling within 5 minutes! Not much use unfortunately...

Negative experience: The water has been so cold the past couple of times in the small pool, can't take my toddler again it was unbearable for her. It's such a shame.

Negative experience: Don't bother with swimming lessons for kids they won't let you pass at certain higher level. My daughter is now on green caps for a year, I have complained numerous times but nothing changed. She has 14 marks to pass, she is stuck on 2 because teacher won't do that swim style she needs to do to pass 100%. She has been now on 90% for 3 months. Teachers only focus on new kids and practice stuff my daughter has done past 11 months.If I complain I get told teachers follow set program, it seems that the program doesn't include the style my daughter needs to be assessed on. So she can't ever pass full marks. I have mention this over and over with no success. Its just money making.

Positive experience: Great small pool, good staff, and clean facilities. Small teaching pool is nice and warmer than the bigger pool. Few toys in for the little ones. No cafe on site but reception offers hot drinks and there are vending machines.

Negative experience: Absolutely freezing today. Not enjoyable at all. Guess I'll be looking for a warmer pool. Talked the girl on desk she said she'll speak to manager. Not sure how that helps us.

Positive experience: Good availability of slots .

Fantastic experience: Took our 4 month old for her first swim today in the training pool. Plenty of parking although looked like it was getting full after 3pm when we were leaving. Easy to book, friendly staff. Changing rooms were lovely and clean with family change cubicle available. Lockers were £1 Training pool is warmed with proper steps to access the pool. Brilliant cheap family activity!!

Positive experience: Gym is small but staff are helpful

Positive experience: Been coming to my kids swimmings lessons here for around 5 years. Parking has got worse especially through term times, even though it got extended. The higher up the levels your child gets they seem to have on less classes. My oldest is in level 8 and this has proven very hard as they hardly do any classes for this stage and the teacher she had at first looked like he couldn’t be bothered on his phone and was constantly just telling them to do laps. Not the best. Luckily the teacher has now been changed. Changing rooms is so full people leave their clothes in the changing blocks rather than in the lockers, so then you struggle to get changed as there’s no space. There’s no where to watch your child once they go into the big pool unless you stand around a tiny window in the changing room with 3 other people. If you manage to get a space inside when they are in the small pool it’s good, if not there’s tables behind the window but you can’t see you child as you’ve just got a load of people’s backs and heads who managed to get a space sat inside. I’ve been coming here for this long for the convenience that’s it’s the closest one to my home not for any other reason.

Negative experience: I chose this gym for the swimming lessons, which were great, however, I chose to cancel my membership in winter with the intention to continue my lessons sometime in summer when I finished studying, due to affordability issues. When I cancelled, I received no confirmation of my cancellation. I was then charged for 2 consecutive months, after which I called to cancel yet again and it was finally properly cancelled, with an email to confirm. I informed the gym of the issue and was told management would be in touch to arrange a refund- nobody got in touch. I called back multiple times (I'm talking 5+ times) until finally someone called at a time which was not convenient and they said they would call back at a later, set time in the day. Nothing happened. Staff also told me to contact the company which organizes refunds directly (which I don't believe should be my job to do considering the mistake is on your behalf). The company told me I had been wrongly informed, and they required management to contact them- of course. I am then told (after numerous other attempts) that because there is no "proof" of cancellation, I may not receive a refund. Apparently staff had assumed after asking why I wanted to cancel initially that I was simply postponing the membership until summer (which is senseless in itself...how can you postpone a membership if you are being charged for it regardless? And still. No contact from management to confirm or deny anything. I'm so tired, fed up and disappointed in this treatment. It's a shame because I actually enjoyed the lessons and my goal was to continue lessons at a time when I could afford it again. Absolutely terrible treatment from the management, whoever they are. Extremely unprofessional, unreliable and unhelpful.

Fantastic experience: My son and I came for a swimming session on Sunday the 14th May. I had called ahead of time to check the training pool was a good temperature as my son doesn't like it too cold. The receptionist was very helpful even telling me what degrees Celsius the pool would be. As it was my first visit, I was given a parking permit to fill in and display in my car window. This was a lovely touch as I wasn't aware of the parking restrictions and the car park is much safer than the busy road the leisure centre is situation off. Inside, the centre looked and smelled very clean. The toilets were fresh and well stocked with toilet paper and soap. The communal changing cubicles were spotless and very pleasant to use. There are also ample lockers of various sizes which just require a £1 to lock up and keep all your belongings safe whilst you swim. When we entered the main pool, there are showers before you enter and a balcony where you can put your towels if you prefer them by the pool for immediate access after your swim. It was lovely to see a multitude of toys, floats and buoyancy aids in and around the teaching pool. My son took great pleasure in collecting all the toys and playing with them whilst in the pool and he said this sports centre is his favourite so far! When we left, at least 3 team members were vigorously scrubbing down the floors, lockers and walls with soapy water and you could tell that they took pride in their leisure centre and want it looking at its best. WELL DONE to all the team at Aston-cum-Aughton. My son and I will be back very soon, of that I have no doubt!!

Fantastic experience: Our kids had swimming lessons here for quite a while. Very good teachers. Good scoring system we could view at home so as we know what the kids needed to work on when we took them swimming. Nice cafe too.

Fantastic experience: Incredibly good way to get people into sport with the big sister program you get 6 months free to explore and use the gym or almost anything including sports clubs if you really are struggling on finding a good place to start exercise this is the perfect place the staff are nice so are the people you meet

Negative experience: Good place for swimming lessons only down fall is the waiting area 3/5 family members all of adults for 1 child learning to swim leaving no room for other family's to sit stood for 1 hour today it was grate hopefully this will be adressed

Positive experience: Great clean leisure center. The gym is fairly small but has enough for the community it serves. Frequent classes and a pool with several lanes. Only downside is the lack of a sauna or steam room. Prices are very fair.

Negative experience: Terrible service! Tried to call and use the services but no answer for over 45 minutes. Is anybody working there? I would avoid at all costs, nightmare!

Positive experience: Ok gym, parking here is a nightmare. There is about 30 parking spaces, once these are full you need to park in the school grounds next door and walk round to the gym.

Checked the website before going and says free parking On discovering the ticket I found this in behind reception.... This is very unclear from what I read it's rules from the 1st of Feb 2020

Positive experience: The facilities themselves are pretty good and the staff are generally friendly. I come to use the swimming pool and the main complaint I have is that when the timetable says "just lane swimming" or "just swim" it'll often be doubled up with lessons going on in one half of the pool meaning lane swimmers are squashed into smaller lanes and new and inexperienced swimmers get put right alongside a raucous selection of much stronger swimmers which must make some of them feel self conscious, it would if it were me. Anyway, it'd be much better if the activities listed on the timetable were just those activities especially around lunch time and evenings when it's busy.

Negative experience: Since our last visit 12 months ago the place has really gone down hill! The changing rooms are disgusting, the smell of Urine coming from the toilets were so strong and over powering. I couldn’t wait to get changed and get out of the place, the smell made me feel ill! Everyone in there were also complaining of the smell too. Not to mention the jumped up lifeguard who accused our son of not being able to swim. The price were extortionate too, £16 for 2 adults and 1 child for an hours swim Won’t be rushing back anytime soon, this place needs some serious TLC and some friendly poolside staff!

Fantastic experience: This is a very quiet and casual leisure centre and the staff are lovely they also do loads of kids sporting lessons throughout the week.

Positive experience: Really like this place, staff are kind and friendly. My only dislike is the changing rooms for swimming, there's always a smell of urine around.

Positive experience: It's an OK gym. Going to the gym during the day can be hit or miss to use equipment because of high school classes using the gym at the same times. Usually a good variety of classes, but frustrating when the class schedules would change without notice and classes were no longer offered on days you're available to go.

Positive experience: My children have been swimming here regularly. It is a nice local facility. Car park is small but there’s plenty of parking on road or outside the school next door with only a short walk. My main issue is lesson are packed. There ends up more parents in the shower area than children sometimes which is a little annoying but not sure what the centre can do to control that. The portal to check progress doesn’t work and occasionally they seem to reset your child’s progress. Having said that the gym is a nice little gym and prices are reasonable.

Fantastic experience: A good place to teach children to swim. The teaching pool is very warm but the main pool is a little cooler but still a very comfortable temperature. The locker room is communal but has plenty of individual cubicles. The clothes lockers cost £1 which is returned when you unlock the locker door. The car park is a bit small so it does get full quickly but there is road parking next to the entrance gates.

Positive experience: All in one leisure centre, with a gym, classes, swimming pool and sports hall. Parking can be an issue during peak times. The gym is quite small and can get filled up so I suggest going at when it's not busy.

Fantastic experience: Facilities are good, clean and staff very friendly. Been told classes are good but we only use the Aqua boot camp which is excellent, we'll run and fun by the 2 instructors. But when there off the centre just cancel the class last minute, even when they say it's on an hour before. If they sorted that problem out it would be 100%

Positive experience: £4.20 for adult swim. Friendly staff. Only 2 private showers . Clean & tidy. No parking controls.
