Positive experience: We had a good stay on a voucher at Oulton. The staff were absolutely brilliant and really attentive. We really enjoyed our evening meal with the dine in for 32 offer. The spa we felt quite small so quite akward to use when busy. We got upgraded to a superior and I would massively recommend this if you can afford it- makes a big difference to the stay. Thank you to the lady who sorted our room change : ) Prices are expensive - but the eat in for 32 deal that we had on our voucher deal made it worth it. We would stay on a voucher again.

Positive experience: Decent Hotel in Oulton . Swimming pool and spa Fecilities are good with cold water shower. Buffet Breakfast was good too nothing extraordinary just basic. Customer service was good and staff seem helpful and friendly.

Negative experience: We booked three rounds of golf through an agent (Your Golf Travel) with Oulton Hall being the first of three different courses. Separately, we booked a night at the hotel the night before. I can highly recommend the hotel with excellent rooms, a good hearty breakfast and a well presented spa area. However, this review sadly relates to the poor standard of the golf course. With very poor and dangerous tees, as you couldn’t keep your footing. Worst course we’ve collectively played. As the lead booker of eight golfers, I felt fully responsible and frankly embarrassed. I made my complaints to Your Golf Travel who were not interested in our concerns. Date of visit September. To reiterate, the hotel is great and I would highly recommend but do not stay and play golf here.

Positive experience: Can't get srved at the bar waiting half an hour for one lady to go around talking to everyone before taking my order. Also it's freezing and they turn the heat off in the rooms at midnight. I've payed for the room and want it warm throughout the night.

Fantastic experience: Went for the spa treatment and stayed the night. The pool and spa treatment was excellent. Donner service was brilliant. The waiter Oliver was exceptional. The food for dinner and breakfast was divine Would 100% recommend for a romantic weekend away

Positive experience: The staff were great.. just don't understand why we have to queue to get in breakfast room and then for hot buffet..something not right operationally...spa very nice..

Negative experience: Awful stay here. Ruined the morning of my wedding, promised one thing on the phone before booking and did not honour it on the day. Very racist woman working at the hotel. Stay away from booking here. Save your money! Never been treated in such a disgusting way.

Negative experience: Do not get a gym membership here as they do not cancel your membership if you ask them to. I cancelled mine months ago and have emailed several times for them to stop taking money from my direct debit and they finally did stop. but when I asked them to return the money for the months they took my money whilst I had already cancelled they will not give my money back. I have visited several times in person and have contacted via email and they always say the will return the money but it’s been nearly one year and the issue is still not resolved. Awful customer service don’t book gym here.

Positive experience: I went to the spa for the day. Overall I had a lovely time, usual steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and pool. I liked the fact you are provided with a robe and a towel, although if you are over a size 16 the robe would be too small for you. The changing rooms smelled heavily of urine both when I got changed to go into the spa and on my way out so they must have that odour all the time. The pool was a good size and everywhere wasn't too busy. In between treatments I enjoyed reading at the poolside on the comfy chairs. I had a treatment - neck, shoulder and head massage - very good and I was asked what pressure I would like which is always a good sign. I had a light lunch included in my spa voucher. It was pre ordered and a cold salad so I don't know why I had to wait 20 minutes for it after being seated. I got offered my complimentary prosecco after 15 minutes. I would have liked to have purchased a hot drink but I'm not sure you could? I'd visit again but buy a better package and hope that the changing rooms had been properly cleaned next time.

Negative experience: I recently stayed at this hotel for my partner’s 21st birthday, hoping for a memorable experience, but it fell far short. We booked a double room but arrived to find two single beds pushed together. When I questioned this, Nick at reception vaguely explained it was “for flexibility”—though we’d paid for a double. Worse, the sheets were dirty, and when we called both reception and room service twice for clean bedding, no one answered. Eventually, Nick brought fresh sheets but asked us to help put them on, which felt unprofessional. To add to the frustration, we learned that the cleaning staff leaves at 9 p.m., which felt odd for a full-service hotel. Our free drink vouchers also led to confusion; after being served a Malibu and Coke once, we were told we couldn’t order it again, as it wasn’t covered. Finally, the afternoon tea I’d booked weeks in advance was “lost” in their system, and we were seated in a different room and waited 30 minutes for our food. Most staff seemed unmotivated, resulting in poor service. For a special occasion, this was a letdown. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for reliable service.

Fantastic experience: Refused to cook my steak blue, even though was ordered so must be an option for the waiting staff. I've had blue steak here previously, also at Crewe Hall and The Park at Warrington so not sure why it was refused. Otherwise an excellent stay with brilliant service

Negative experience: Came for a wedding. Bar staff absolutely useless. A load of kids cutting corners, borderline rude and not bothered about any sort of customer experience. Not sure about the hotel..

Positive experience: There were 8 hangers, but only 4 where usable, 4 above a cabinet, meaning there was only 18 inches hanging space. Ordered a bottle of prosecco for the room, but in never turned up and can't get a refund. Room wasn't turned down on Sunday for some reason. UPDATE: Nick at the hotel contacted me and the refund has been processed now.

Negative experience: Rooms, food and hotel very good. However, we were on a golf weekend. Hence low score. Day 1: Calverly Course: First round tee boxes a mess, greens even worse spiked (at this time of year!?) Day2: Started us the Hall Course(9 holes), better condition. However, not seamless as we were in a queue to complete the back 9(front 9 of calverton!!) Recommend buggies as many large gaps between holes. Won't return for golf.

Negative experience: I stayed for one night for a business trip. The hotel is huge and weirdly at check-in they told me that they don't tell you the room number out loud for security reasons. I've stayed in hotels for the last 30 years on business and I've never had this before. However, the girl was lovely and showed me how to get to my room which was a good 5-minute walk from reception. As soon as I open my door the disappointment started. The carpet was filthy. The bathroom looked like something out of the 1970s. The furniture were at least 20 years old and the room was just tired. It had the basics in the room like a kettle like an iron, some storage but he just felt very very poor. However, the real low point was breakfast. The food is fine but the service was very poor. I was pretty old arrival but put on a table that already had food on the table from the previous guest. Had to wait 5 minutes which I opened and was covered in food and disgusting. Overall, this place has wonderful potential, but it's way past it's best and I would not recommend staying here unless you were there for a deal or the golf

Fantastic experience: We stayed because we went to a wedding, and although the wedding didn't run to time, it was an amazing day. The room was perfect for our needs, and the breakfast was lovely. It was lovely to stick about the following day to enjoy a cuppa on the terrace with friends, while people played a game of golf nearby. Shame we didn't have time to check out the spa. You can easily get lost in there. It's deceptively big inside.

Fantastic experience: My husband booked this for our wedding anniversary ❤️ upgraded the room & had the extra love package The room was beautiful.. this hotel is a little on the expensive side, we didn't get chance to use the spa as we had other outside experiences booked.. but the hotel & grounds were beautiful well kept & well looked after. The staff were very attentive.. the champagne bar, setting & views were beautiful

Fantastic experience: Just been for Afternoon Tea with my friends. It was a nice atmosphere and the room where we ate gave off the perfect vibe for it. Food was nice and had good portion sizes/amount. The staff member who served us, Yousef, was really nice and made us feel very welcome. Would definitely look to book again, especially as we had the Vegetarian Afternoon Tea today, but I got the impression that there was also a possible halal option too.

Positive experience: Problem with the driving ball dispenser which took money and didn't dispense balls. Went to pro shop and had to deal with a miserable young man who was argumentative and actually point blank lied to me about I would receive my funds back. Need to do much better

Negative experience: Having paid a premium for a "countryside view" I could see it beyond the car park and service yard. No chance of carging your electric car.

Positive experience: Slightly disappointed that the room t.v. would not pick up any signal. It was remedied within a day and £30 refunded. Also the location of our room was very noisy from 7:30/8 am onwards due to outside noise. Not great for a relaxing stay.

Positive experience: Left a bit disappointed by this hotel. The building is fine and staff great but a few drawbacks remain. Room 135 is very nousy with a loud minibar fridge and constant air con nouse from kitchens nearby. The room itself was fine. Afternoon Tea was overpriced for a few finger sandwiches, large scones and Panecotra which was not set. Coffee was nice and service great. Breakfast service could have been better. We were not informed of an additional menu with extra dishes served with a surcharge. Until our friends joined us, we were not aware of the extra items. This looks to be a hotel trading on its name but has let its standards slip.

Negative experience: Can’t review the room as I couldn’t gain access despite paying for it for two nights! I booked via booking operator and when I called for help they couldn’t find any record of myself to get a adjustment to the room I didn’t get any call backs and zero help due to ‘data protection’ despite me giving full details repeatedly and this being my booking that I personally paid for! This just made an incredibly stressful situation more so giving conflicting information after the event and refusing to acknowledge the room was not utilised

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience at Oulton Hotel and Spa for my birthday. From reception staff, to cleaners to restaurants I couldn't fault it. The grounds are nice to go for a walk in, the spa be it the pool a bit on the small side was adequate for us on a weekend so you'll always have space and a decent amount of time there. The saunas and cold bucket splash were one to remember. Big shout out to the team there!

Fantastic experience: Lovely, welcoming hotel. Room was clean and spacious. Fridge stocked with water, soft drinks and 2 small complimentary wines. All public areas of hotel were clean, tidy with lots of comfy seating areas. Outside was just as good, the weather helped with this too! Gym also well presented. All the staff I had contact with were friendly and helpful. Only slight disappointment was with the food. Nothing really to complain about but just maybe not quite the same high standard as the rest of the hotel and services. Found the hot breakfast buffet wasn't especially hot. Even the evening meals which were cooked to order were not piping hot when served. Not an issue just an opinion. Would recommend and will return.

Fantastic experience: I visited the spa today (a treat from my husband) My spa day included 2 treatments and afternoon tea. Everything about the day was enjoyable and all the staff were friendly and helpful. I would like to give a special mention to Liz who served my afternoon tea, she was genuinely lovely. Fantastic experience: This is a truly beautiful hotel, easy to reach with public transport (20 min journey on the bus from Central Leeds). The staff are amazing, helpful and accommodating. Great breakfast. Drinks and snacks priced ok, 5,50 £ beer, 7,50£ hallumi wrap, 3,70 £ coffee. There is sauna, steam room, gym and middle sized swimming indoor pool for the guests to use. Beautiful drawing rooms, loads of antique sofas to rest on in various spots in the hotel. I'll be coming back!

Negative experience: Stayed here on a 2 day golf break. Hotel and room was very good. The evening meal was very poor. Fish and chips. Tiny fish that was obviously frozen. Cheap frozen chips. This was listed on the menu at £19.95!! Drinks in the bar were expensive. Breakfast was average with cheap tasteless sausages.My advice would be if you stay here eat elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Stayed on a Spa package, had such a lovely experience, the pool and spa facilities were lovely!! Staff were amazing! Room was really great size and loved the decor, didn’t really use it but the tv was a great size. We had breakfast included and it was a really good selection of hot and cold. Really tasty, it does get busy so would recommend getting there earlier. Afternoon tea was a really nice experience and the drawing room was beautiful. The restaurant had a great vibe and nice selection of food - again it does get really busy so book your slots in advance.

Fantastic experience: Appsolutley gorgeous suit all I could have asked for food is unavailable and the afternoon teas so delicious to x

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic place for a bit of a country get away or for visiting Leeds. The staff are simply superb and the breakfast is excellent (best ever hash brown). Exceptionally dog friendly. Can’t wait to go back again

Fantastic experience: This place is amazing, I have stayed in multiple hotels this year from Hilton to Radisson and non of them compared to this. The decor, the rooms and comfort, the friendly staff were all amazing. The grounds are outstanding and we were lucky enough to have a sunny morning to enjoy drinks in the garden which was lovely. How this has 4.2 stars is beyond me as 5 stars isn’t enough to rate it here. But with people leaving negative reviews because they didn’t get a free steak or there’s a few weeds in the garden (it was beautiful) is ridiculous instead of the appreciation for everything good in this hotel. Yes the breakfast is a buffet style but all of the ingredients were high quality, there was loads of fresh fruit so for breakfast to be included with such high quality was brilliant, and no powdered scrambled egg, thank god! We didn’t want to leave and would make a trip back to Leeds just to stay here. Outstanding! Definitely worth the extra for the upgrade in the room.

Fantastic experience: Stayed in a superior double room & it was lovely. There was everything you could wish for in the room. The beds are comfortable & there was no noise disturbance, despite there being an event on. I am pleased to say that breakfast was not a chore even though the hotel was fully booked. The food was nice & there was plenty of choice, even for those with dietary restrictions. The staff I encountered were very polite & helpful I would definitely stay here again if I was in Leeds again.

Fantastic experience: Came to play in winter time, over 2 days but one of the 9 hole courses was closed and the 18 that were open were quite wet and spongy which couldn't be helped with the heavy rain. We didn't play the 2nd day due to heavy rain forecast but the pro arranged for us to come back in the summer to play the course again at its best instead of its worst. Just played the course in summer and it was in mint condition and provided a good challenge. Thanks again to the professional for sorting us out and would definitely come back again.

Fantastic experience: Stayed as part of a golf package. Hotel and grounds lovely, rooms very good, clean and tidy. Usual twin beds only 3 inches apart but that’s ok. Food was very good and plenty to choose from. Breakfast buffet also very good. Spa and pool also standard for a hotel of that level. Golf course was well looked after and enjoyed the variety it provided.

Fantastic experience: We stayed for a long weekend as part of a large group organised through mygolfbreaks. The hotel was incredible and I didn't hear a single complaint from anyone in the group the whole weekend. The golf course was challenging but in perfect condition, the food was very good value for money and service was superb.

Fantastic experience: Went here for overnight stay with golf, brilliant hotel, was upgraded to a suite, couldn't wish for anything better. The restaurants and bars didn't disappoint. Food was very good as well. Golf course's were very well laid out and a pleasure to play, however some of the players in front of us were very slow , they need telling about etiquette, and the pro needs to mention that bunkers need raking when you go in one! All in all, we will definitely be coming back

Fantastic experience: The perfect antidote for the emotional challenge of finalising and clearing my father-in-law's house. All the staff we came across - whether in reception, the bar, Calverly Grill or housekeeping were professional, friendly and helpful. The food and beverages were served well and completely to our taste. The experience was a tonic and we will return to the hotel.

Negative experience: Feeling very let down. Came here for the weekend for a special birthday celebration for my wife. The night before her birthday we both had two different but excellent fish dishes. Because of this we thought we would try the very expensive 10 oz rib eye steak the next evening on my wife's birthday night. What a disappointment. They neither looked like a rib eye and were certainly not 10 oz. The meat, to be fair tasted well seasoned, but both of us struggled with the gristle and had to chew and then discard most of it. We gave some feedback to three of the staff, but only a small discount was taken off. We shouldn't have had to pay anything to be honest. The hotel really has to do a proper quality check of the meat before and during the use. Very upsetting on what should have been a perfect birthday evening!

Negative experience: Families beware: this hotel (and the chain of QHotels) promote themselves as "family friendly". However, we'd love to understand how banning children from use of the pool for the majority of the day meets this description? We booked a golf game with friends, with the plan being for the Kids to spend time at the pool during the afternoon. But alas, upon arriving at the pool just after lunch were told no kids allowed in the pool except between the times of 8am-10am and 4pm-6:30pm. Staff at the hotel told us this is company policy across the whole group of hotels. Imagine, if this same policy was in place for men, or women or over 65's? We were told this policy is communicated on the website, which we eventually found, but it far from states children are not allowed, but rather described as "Children's swim times". Does this mean the hotel also has "Adult swim times" or "women's swim times"? We were further told that the hotel reserved the non-children swim times for use by guests using the Spa, so that Champagne can be enjoyed by the pool. It's a shame. The hotel is a fantastic building, with the potential to be a wonderful hotel. Unfortunately, service was below standard (for example, 45 minutes wait in the lounge for an order of sandwiches at lunchtime), check-in and check-out were an "experience" with under trained staff, and the quality of food was okay, but not quite what you would hope or expect from such a property. Alas, we won't be back to any more QHotels, until they change their discriminatory policy.

Fantastic experience: Certificate of excellence for quality service and products. My stay here was divine. The elemis treatments was amazing with a 40%off when I purchased some products. Negative experience: Booked for one night for a visit to the Grand Theatre, Leeds. Beware - on arrival at reception was charged £100 to the card as a 'security deposit'. I have stayed in far nicer hotels than this one & never had that happen. Also it wasn't refunded until this morning. We had booked for three people - two adults & a child, but they obviously hadn't read the booking as we were given a basic room with two single beds. Housekeeping did bring up a portable bed & moved the furniture around, but it made the space really tight. Room was basic, but did have a fridge which was good for the milk we bought as they never give you many sachets & no hot chocolate. What wasn't nice was the mould around the glass shower screen & the window. Some of the flower beds around the hotel needed attention - overgrown & full of weeds. We were also pleased that we ate out that night on the basis of the breakfast the next day. It was all self service, the usual toast, cereal, breakfast pastries, fruit selection wasn't great & yoghurt was in a communal bowl. Fried was the usual bacon,beans, tomatoes, sausages, dried out mushrooms, fried eggs which had run out, not of the best quality. On checking out, they took the room passes & ' That's all done. Have a nice day' & walked away. No asking if everything was all right. Well, it wasn't, so this is my review. See shower screen below.

Fantastic experience: Just visited initially for a coffee, but then decided to have lunch too. Coffee was enjoyed in the lounge at Oulton Hall. There is plenty of comfortable plush seating available in the lounge area with tall windows, drapes and chandeliers add to the opulence of the room. We also had a view of the golf course. There was outdoor seating on the terrace. Service was very attentive and our waiter was very polite and friendly.. We then walked over to the golf clubhouse to take a look and ended up having a roast pork baguette with roast potatoes (roast beef was also available). Our food came quite quick and was of a decent portion for the price. Oulton Hall itself also caters for Afternoon Teas, hotel stays, pamper sessions/stays, weddings etc I can see why it is a popular venue for weddings. It is lovely. Prices for food and drink are comparable to other 4 star hotels.

Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel and facilities. Lovely breakfast in the morning, plenty of options. The continental choices were better than the hot options, the sausages weren't the best. The choice of pastries, breads, cereals and yogurt options were superb. Staff were very friendly from in all areas: check in, spa and restaurant. The pool area is very clean and tidy, the pool itself was a great temperature. Room itself was clean and tidy but felt a little dated compared to other Q Hotels we've stayed in but perfectly comfortable.

Positive experience: Came for the golf. What can I say. It has potential but prioritises hotel and corporate guests over members. The course needs more green keepers, the greens are ok, but rough like jungle for the wayward! Putt the driver away and get your 2 iron out.

Positive experience: Lack of verbal direction from reception also information and direction to facilities and rooms. The Hotel was quite cold unfortunately. Spa facilities very good eventhough you had to ask for a large dressing gown if required. The treatment was given in a very professional manner.

Fantastic experience: Great place set in a picturesque setting, hotel and accommodation are very luxurious together with very friendly staff. As for the golf the course was still recovering from the last few months of terrible weather but in general was in good condition and was very enjoyable to play especially in the glorious sunshine we got all weekend. The only negative thing I can say about it is, for some mind boggling reason they have dark green flags on the holes which on some holes where virtually invisible from the tee box, this really does need addressing, do the R&A not have some regulation on flag colours, if not they should, lol?

Fantastic experience: First time visiting and we had the afternoon tea in the drawing room Staff were very friendly and helpful and because it was wife's birthday we got glass of champagne each nice touch. Food was good usual mix of sandwiches scones and cake and teas would definitely go again and probably stay overnight

Positive experience: During my two-night stay, the hotel was great – easy check-in, nice room, delicious food, and the whole place was spotless. And let's not forget the beautiful grounds and mostly friendly staff. But, the spa was a letdown. When I got there, I had to ask where the changing room was and where to wait for my massage. I had to pay to use a locker (seriously?!) and the robe they gave me was very small. The robe didn’t completely cover me (I'm not a big person), so leaving the changing room was very uncomfortable. The waiting area was small, hot and heavily trafficked which made for an awkward experience - especially with an ill fitting robe. Once I finally got to the massage, it was anything but relaxing. I could hear all sorts of noise from outside, and the massage itself was mediocre at best. By the end, I was just glad to get out of there. Overall, the hotel gets five stars from me, but I wouldn't give the spa more than two or three. The spa was definitely not worth the time or money.

Negative experience: incompetent staff. We checked out early morning and contacted the hotel first thing in the following hours to report a necklace that was left in our room by accident. The staff couldn't care less and wouldn't run up to check.. or they did and just decided to steal it which is looking more probable a few weeks later.. Thiefs.. do not leave any items of expense in your room.

Fantastic experience: Me and the wife had a great time. Spa facilities were clean and looked quite new. The steam room was the best one I have ever been in. The gym was great, really lovely room, and nice big comfy bed. We also enjoyed the restaurant, the food was great and the service was spot on! The breakfast made a premier inn breakfast look weak! Overall great hotel in lovely surroundings, and will defo be returning, speedos in hand.

Negative experience: We booked a golf break .. confirmed with the hotel the needs .. requirements etc . They confirmed . We arrived the club house was closed .. even though all signs and online said open .. we confirmed it was open when we booked . We were given multiple excuses and multiple accounts why .. so we shrugged and got on with it . Next day after the first night . We attended breakfast.. we ordered porridge .. waited 20 mins has to ask a waitress who then informed us they had none . So again we shrugged and went to play golf . The course wasn’t for the previous day but again we got on with it . This morning we unpacked our gear saw golfers already out on the course with trolleys etc we were leaving the car area with our bags on trolleys and was shouted at by a grounds keeper no trolleys today onlh carry. I said politely well we can’t carry out trolley bags he replied shouting ‘ well you aren’t playing then ‘ and just walked off . We went to complain to both the golf pro shop who were also rude and said it’s nothing to do with them and then went to the hotel reception who had one female member of staff on . Apparently everyone in authority was in a meeting which was never ending as we waited for 45 mins to speak to someone . This after the reception lady tried to play the ‘ we are shouting at her ‘ card to not do anything about our complaints.. we had pre paid for 2 nights / 3 rounding golf and didn’t even get half that yet they said we wouldn’t get any refund from them . The whole experience there was a disgrace and the hotel / golf club just didn’t care one bit about the issues and behavior their staff. .safe to say we won’t be going back and I urge any golf trip to look elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Me and my friend had afternoon tea here and it's beyond lovely. I am huge fan of afternoon tea and my go to was always Rudding park but Oulton hall for me is a better experience, I find the staff more friendly and more attentive. Oulton hall itself is a stunning building and is complete luxury. I would recommend highly to come here!

Positive experience: Overall a lovely stay. Room was pleasant and smart, very clean. Restaurant and bar food was 10/10 - great portion sizes and quality. ‘Spa’ was very sub-standard. Basic pool, malfunctioning jacuzzi, plastic upright chairs around the pool, nowhere to relax. The sauna and steam room didn’t feel clean or function very well. Changing rooms were dirty and in need of a refurb. Definitely not the luxurious relaxing spa advertised online. The staff were lovely throughout and very helpful. Beautiful location and restaurant lounge areas are really nice. Shame you’re paying for a high end spa hotel but the spa doesn’t deliver.

Negative experience: Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend - I received a voucher for Christmas to use the spa facilities and I realised that it had a very short date period on it (only 3 months). I rang the spa and they said that as long as I'd booked it within the expiry time period, I could use it at a later date. I booked my spa experience, however when I didnt receive a confirmation email I rang back to check, I was then told I couldnt use the voucher and there was no way to extend it. Not good customer experience being told different information by different people, dont recommend this spa to anyone.

Fantastic experience: The spa was ok, the pool seating was small and the spa treatment was just very average. Nice hotel and restaurant but wouldn't use the spa again.

Positive experience: Stayed recently as a couple for 2 nights. The hotel was easy to find, had plentiful parking and is a fabulous building, with very impressive decor. The room was lovely with everything you would need, very comfy pillows and bed, great shower, lovely thick light blocking curtains. However despite the luxury of the place both of us only thought the stay was OK and it is difficult to say exactly why, just the little things: it didn't feel like somewhere you could comfortably wander around and explore or just leisure around in. Usually we like to use facilities, spars and pools the bar etc but not this time. It felt like most staff were working from a formula from which they didn't deviate and were not really interested in ensuring you made the most of your stay. On arrival very little was explained, no details of breakfast times, pool or spar arrangements etc. On leaving not even a 'have you enjoyed your stay, was everything OK?', despite no one else queuing behind us. No sweetener on the tables at breakfast only sugar. No teaspoons on many place settings, and none available by the coffee machine. No spare knives available by the toast etc so if your cutlery was taken there was no obvious replacements. Monday breakfast had lots of choice but decidedly less on Tuesday, eg no crumpets and no sign of any. The cooked breakfast selection was regularly topped up and things were hot. Despite usually eating in for evening meals we decided to go out but both evenings on return we were greeted with a very strong fishy odour which filled the entrance and lobby area, clearly from the restaurant. It was not pleasant to return to but had we eaten there we probably wouldn't have noticed. You can walk to a bus stop and catch a very regular service into Leeds so it's well positioned for that. A good hotel that others may well adore but just had that special something missing for us.

Positive experience: Had a pleasant 2 night stay at Oulton Hall Hotel. Some of the rooms could do with updating and as there was an issue with our first room, we were given a different, much smarter room for our stay. The spa pool is a little small and did get busy even mid week but managed a swim. Didn't have any spa treatments. The quality of the food in the restaurant is excellent and we enjoyed two evening meals. Good selection of breakfast. We found the staff very friendly and helpful and particular thanks go to Megan, Jay, Dylan and Jasmine.
