PureGym Harlow

Negative experience: Been a member of a few puregyms including this one previously, when I rejoined there were several large holes in the floor from the cable mounts, big enough to injure yourself on, I did give feedback on this and it was rectified quickly but buy my phone got stuck in old gum on my next visit and several of the cardio machines had lots of old/new gum in them. I canceled my membership and never heard back from my complaint. Standards have definitely dropped and the worst pure gym I'm been a member of.

Fantastic experience: Joined Puregym in March after I had enough of JD gyms, seriously love going to PureGym. Whoever is posting bad reviews of this gym, do yourself a favour, go and join JD, then you will really get to find out what a poorly run gym is before you slate Puregym. BTW I have seen my best gains since joining a clean and bright gym

Fantastic experience: Great class as always..Chris is really good. Slightly torture at times at the end of a busy day but hey ho

Negative experience: Miss a payment of £22 so they charge me £42 rather then just taking the payment again .. it cost me 33 to re join at full price , whoever came up with that is a moron I will not be paying it or returning to your gym I'd advise people to find a better gym run by people with brains

Positive experience: The place was messy - plates and dumbbells not in racks or left loaded. Plenty of room and things to do but nobody seems to care or look after it.

Positive experience: Great Gym especially for the cost plenty of equipment, big space couple of machine could be added to be a complete gym in my opinion. Only real let down is the cleanliness of the showers, a bit of maintenance required on this front.

Negative experience: Arrived at the gym at 6.20am for a BodyTone class and the instructor didn't show up. Luckily two girls who were there had done the class before so we were able to put together a make-shift routine which was fun! Also attended another class last week (Pump) and the instructor talked more than us doing actual exercises. Compared to the Chelmsford gym classes where they work you really hard, I left feeling deflated and like I'd barely done a workout.

Negative experience: While PureGym offers an affordable membership, the quality of the equipment and overall experience leaves much to be desired. The machines are often in poor condition, with some feeling outdated or not functioning properly. Additionally, the cleanliness of the ladies' toilets is a real concern, as they are frequently dirty and poorly maintained. Another major downside is the lack of available staff. It’s difficult to find anyone around to ask for assistance unless they are specifically training you, which can make it feel impersonal and frustrating. Overall, if you're looking for a budget gym, PureGym works, but don't expect great facilities or service.

Fantastic experience: East to get to, lots of availability of equipment and spacious facilities.

Positive experience: Didn't go. I was near it, which is the closest i ever get to a gym

Fantastic experience: Been going to glasses here for almost two years and Deano and Chris in cycle, bums legs and tums and pump, are the best. They are great are explaining the class and making sure you keep your own pace if you're new, or they go as far as remembering your name and pushing you harder if you're "old" which I love. Cannot recommend them enough (!!!!!!) Thank you for helping me improve my form so that I can run faster and climb mountains with a smile on my face!

Fantastic experience: Great cycle class again this morning. It’s my least favourite, but with Dean giving 100% as the instructor it pushes you to give more. I’ll be back again next Sunday!

Fantastic experience: The classes are very good and the Instructors are very helpful especially if you are new to a particular class. The gym has an extensive range of equipment for every need.

Negative experience: Bought a day pass while staying away. Severely lacking in equipment (apart from 2 leg presses no leg accessory machines, 1 cable tower but no other chest accessory machines) and the equipment that was present was poorly made (massive jumps in bar height on the squat rack and flat bench). Shower was unclean and smelled strongly of sewage. Better then nothing but only just...

Fantastic experience: One of Puregym most cleanest and beautiful gym. The gym is well looked after, and there are plenty of equipment to suit everyone training needs.

Negative experience: Machines and weights are fine but it's too humid and hot with no ventilation or fans always having to bring inhaler out of fear of having asthma attack. Also, too busy during peak times can't get any access to equipment at times (technically not the gyms fault).

Positive experience: lots of machines and good classes to attend. just wish that the air conditioning was colder as it’s always super hot. Other then that i’ve got no complaints

Negative experience: Showers out for over a week not for the first time. If your rely on a shower after your workout would strongly suggest you don't sign up. Couple more days and Im switching to Pure Gym.

Positive experience: Nice spacious area to train in However, it gets very busy at times, so it is a challenge to get onto equipment. Some of the equipment is looking a little tired so the machines should be replaced or serviced. Please note that to get to the 2nd floor, you have to climb quite a few sets of stairs Love the hydro massage All in all, a good gym

Positive experience: As per most Pure gyms you get what you'd expect, decent equipment without all the razzle dazzle of TVs etc. As a great bonus they have two massage machines which are really nice. Some areas are starting to show signs of ageing, missing floor drain covers that result in a drain smell in the changing rooms. Could definitely do with a water bottle filler on the top floor gym.

Negative experience: Harlow gym filthy , only good think my trainer Denny ……would happily pay more if was clean ….. can blame the staff it’s the people who use it don’t keep it clean

Positive experience: Gym is alright, staff is great but... No yoga, no pilates 30 minutes looking for somewhere to park the car on a bank holiday. Now I'm on time for the class I booked and that's a fault... That never happened to me on the gym I used to go in Ilford before I moved home. Massive car park for free with the gym membership They should have car park or parking spaces just for gym members

Positive experience: People leaving after class don't seem to have any etiquette and just pile out both doors leaving anyone wanting to enter just standing there, same as every other pure gym in regards to rubbish, bottles and paper towel everywhere as not enough bins. Good amount of machines

Negative experience: The changing rooms are dirty, the lockers have litter in, some of the showers are blocked. The walls and benches are filthy. The hooks to hang a towel are broken.

Fantastic experience: Started using this gym recently and it’s quite good to be fair. Plenty of equipment around and I don’t mind that it’s spread across several floors as this adds to the steps and exercise. Some people complain that it’s cold but if you’re working out and breaking into a sweat the cold staircase is actually quite refreshing. I’m from Birmingham and use puregym there regularly and will continue to use the Harlow one while working in the vicinity.

Negative experience: Harlow has over 10 trainers, but there is no single black trainer (not one). BLM!

Positive experience: The opening times are the main reason to join this gym. It's so convenient, especially on national holidays. The staff are all very friendly, in particular a p.t called denne. Quite a few machines were broken due to members not using them properly, however these appear to all have been fixed now. However an on going issue is the lack of cleaning. The changing rooms are permanently filthy, particularly the showers.

Negative experience: Shocking Gym… Badly laid out… entrance and exit shocking… codes don’t work… free weights bottom floor… machines top floor…. 56 steps and floors between them… will never go here again…

Positive experience: Good value. Plenty of equipment. Building needs some repairs.. But that's something for pure gym head office to sort.

Negative experience: Disgusting Unclean The showers and changing rooms at this gym are an absolute disgrace and a health hazard. I’ve trained in gyms up and down the country from ultra lux members clubs to the spit and sawdust bodybuilding gyms but nowhere have I seen showers as filthy as this. The smell just floors you the moment you walk into the changing rooms and seems to linger in the place…like a bad smell. This is not a one off either. I’ve been training here for years and it’s only recently in the last few months been a problem where EVERY morning the showers and changing rooms are disgusting beyond belief. I have raised this with management 3+ months and was told they no longer had an overnight cleaner but we’re trying to recruit one. How long does it take to find a cleaner? If you had any intention of getting a cleaner you would have one by now. Email after email was exchanged with offers of face to face meetings but to what end? I shouldn’t have to march you around your own gym to show you how bad things have become. Many years ago I was the manager of a gym myself and let me tell you if I let standards slip as much as you have the owner would have booted me down the road and rightly so. After the exchanges and time lapses it’s clear nothing is going to change so, if you’re like me and the hundreds of others who like to get a morning workout, be prepared to stand in last nights stink and filth. Management do not seem to be concerned by this so the least I can do is try to warn prospective new members. **Edit after business response** What more information do you need? Rectify it by cleaning the showers and changing rooms. I don’t know how to be clearer than this.

Fantastic experience: Just joined so far so good no complaints or anything yet like the idea of being able to take +1 4 times a month free so now my daughter wants to go as well.

Fantastic experience: Everything you need is there. The staff are also very helpful and friendly. I see a lot of reviews saying the place is untidy, weights left everywhere and the changing rooms being dirty. That says more about the members than the gym and staff. I'm there 6 days a week and the staff regularly clean along with the cleaners that come in everyday. I have seen some grim things in the changing rooms and I'm not sure what kind of animals would leave it that way but again... its the members and i don't feel the gym should be judged on that... the members should really grow up and act like a normal hygienic adults. So the next time you see weights on the floor or grim toilets we should first look at ourselves as it's us members doing this.. not gym employees.

Positive experience: Well equipped, spacious gym, well worth the price. There is room for improvement though. I don’t feel the personal touch, the welcoming feeling, partly because it’s automated and can run without any staff on site. This can cause other problems, i.e. messed up equipment, dirt, etc. This is, however, also a selling point as the gym can stay open 24/7. So while I prefer the homely feeling in other gyms, this allows me to work out at times I wouldn’t be able to otherwise. There is only one bench press which is a challenge especially at peak times.

Fantastic experience: I love pure Gym, mostly because of all the classes available (LBT, Pump & Strength are my regular clases) And the team of PT instructors (Georgia, Chris, Callum, Yulliana & Louis are my faves!) The flexibility of being open 24/7 for gym is really helpful & it's great value for money

Fantastic experience: Loving my experience of the gym so far. I have only been going for a few days and I have been trying to go when it is quite quiet. I never feel embarrassed as it doesn't seem to be full of judgemental people.

Fantastic experience: Works for me. I pop in at different times of the day and always find toilets and other public spaces to be clean. Like the selection of classes on offer, the staff are friendly and chatty. I do enjoy coming back and have become a regular. And I don’t normally like crowded places so take it from me, you’re doing just fine!

Positive experience: Staff are lovely,convenient being 24 hours and good location. But.....the cleaning seems to have gone a bit down hill, dusty shelves, noisy leg press that's needed oiling for months! No hand sanitiser at most stations passed few weeks

Positive experience: The code you have to put in to enter has no help whatsoever on a pin pad with excessive buttons - very embarrassing. The gym itself is pretty darn good though

Fantastic experience: Great place to go exercise all the people who work there are friendly and I have not had any issues with other people that also go to exercise. Just don't forget to get a padlock at the vending machine.

Negative experience: Rubbish. Not much equipment. Rude staff. Not a covid safe venue. They don’t clean the equipment. No parking. No one around. Don’t bother. There other good gyms in Harlow.

Negative experience: Staff member was rude and condescending as I was a couple of minutes past the let in time Christmas Eve. No response from customer service. Gym kit is low quality some of the machines have rips that took months too replace. Air-conditioning always faulty. Much better gyms available.

Positive experience: It ok apart from air condition dont work so in high summer it dangrous
