Yes it can get busy as any other gym at certain times and the parking is a bit lawless with ppl blocking the entry as they are too lazy (or unfit?) to walk 25 metres to the gym so have to park in the entrance Nice changing rooms. Excellent value for money!

Positive experience: I've only attended the gym for two sessions so far but I'm already enjoying it, I'll likely continue my membership and if this review hasn't changed within a few months, I still feel the same way. I had issues with signing up and logging into the app because I made a typo in my email, but Harry, the manager, seemed very patient and resolved my issue quickly. I've received help from three of the fellow gym-goers and all of them have been lovely and genuinely helpful. There seems to be a decent variety of equipment for training all major muscles (although I'm a newb, so I don't know much), and while there seems to only be one of most strength training equipment, it's unlikely that will impact your workout. Some of the equipment has signs of aging such as peeling paint, rust and worn down leather pads, but it seems the equipment is checked routinely to ensure it's suitable for use. The vending machines have a decent variety of snacks and drinks as well as cheap towels and other various items, including a guest day pass, presumably if you want to bring along someone you know but they don't yet want to commit to a subscription.

Positive experience: Great gym. 24 hours, has a great selection of equipment. I'm not a massive gym person so don't know the ins and outs of everything. But it's safe, exclusive in terms of everyone there wants to workout because you can't sneak in for free. Only thing I haven't seen is a dips bar but you can use alternative stuff. Also they don't have any blue towel around to clean tools, equipment. You'll have to bring yourself.

Fantastic experience: I moved to rugby an year ago from London and I have been to everlast,nuffield health, anytime fitness but JD gym is best because this gym is bigger and has lots of different machines, group classes and the price is reasonable the only thing if they can improve is to have more leg and Smith machines

Fantastic experience: It's a great gym. £21 a month, what else can you ask for? Seriously I don't understand why some people will try to bring it down, if it's not their standards, go pay a high £50-£100 at other gyms. I've yet to see a disgruntled client or a moaner. I've used Barnsley JD gym before and both are fantastic. Compared to Pure gym it's a level ahead. I work in maintenance, so sauna's cost, expect a higher price. Enjoy your time there. It's 24/7.... No excuses now ⚡

Fantastic experience: The community here is excellent, and it tends to get quite crowded around 6 PM, easing up around 9:30 PM. The fact that it's open 24/7 is a significant advantage for me, allowing for daily flexibility and ensuring I never miss a workout. The equipment is top-notch, and there are always some machines and weights available.

Negative experience: The gym itself is fine, aside from the equipment being sticky and have nothing to clean it with it, it’s a good gym it has everything you'd need. The staff however is a different story! It took two months and 18 emails to get my membership canceled. The manager and assistant manager kept messing me about telling me it’s canceled and yet I was still paying for it. When I finally spoke to their area manager, thinking there will be some kind of accountability, he was just as rude, dismissive and condescending as they were, so it all made a lot of sense then. When I asked him about all the cancelation complaints (because I am not the first and definitely won’t be the last that has an issue with this) he just brushed it off and basically said, it’s just a snapshot of otherwise happy customers. Well Luke, here’s another unhappy review to add to your ever growing list.

Fantastic experience: Surprisingly nice place

Fantastic experience: Joining was easy, the member of staff was really helpful. I’m new to all this and I’m really pleased with everything, it’s a nice vibe and other members are easy going and friendly. The equipment is great and for the price it’s an absolute bargain.

Negative experience: As Jd gyms are not located in many places I thought I’d get the same experience in this one. The equipment is so old and torn, treadmills outdated in comparison to Jd Birmingham and no sauna or 24 hrs. The equipments are located close to one another where you are in other members space. Furthermore, the members in this gym are predominantly white and made me feel uncomfortable with how much they were staring. I hope the members at this gym read this to be mindful not to stare. The reviews below mine mention how much space there is at the gym, I disagree. I won’t be returning back here.. even the bar scan doesn’t work effectively.

Positive experience: I believe that so far, this is the best gym in rugby, even if it could be a level better if they they install a cold bath and few pannata (better angle) machine from that we can say that we have a very good gym in town!

Fantastic experience: Just joined, seems like a quality gym. Managed to get into two fitness classes without any hassle and weight areas are spacious. So far so good.

Positive experience: Range of equipment is fine for a gym of this size but the overall atmosphere and finish lets it down. I know they’ve had some problems in the past with water but the smell of damp still exists. Some areas look a little tired and could use a refresh and any of the accessories for the cable machines are always scattered all over the gym, if they’re there at all. For the cost it’s not bad but could still use a tidy up.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, modern equipment, any broken equipment is repaired very quicky, staff are very friendly and welcoming, excellent range of equipment!

Positive experience: Car park is basically a war zone. Can’t handle capacity at peak times. Great during quieter hours.

Negative experience: The music volume played by some instructors at this gym is ridiculously high (above 100dB according to my dB app). This is not only uncomfortable, but frankly dangerous as exposure to such volumes can cause long-term hearing damage after just 15 mins! (Google it) I’ve also heard similar feedback from other gymgoers about the music volume from instructors, however the truth is that not everyone will complain, but rather suffer in silence. I did complain to the Manager, but nothing changed. I had to walk out of another class today because of the deafening volume, which was upsetting. I complained again, but when you have to complain about something so serious multiple times, it clearly shows that members’ concerns are not a priority for this gym. I’m now looking to end my membership and join a different gym that actually listens (like my ears for years to come, with any luck).

Negative experience: Since I joined which was 2 years ago it went downhill. Starting with parking with massive potholes which are causing damage to the cars and no space to park anywhere near between 5 and 8pm. Most of the equipment is out of order or squeaking from the rust. Recently also noticed that cleaning products(sprays and paper towels) cannot be found anywhere in the premises so keeping equipment clean is a challenge and very unhygienic!

Positive experience: Less expensive compared to other gyms but plenty of equipment and free weights. Also plenty of free classes available daily. Be careful when you park on the gravel near the road. There is a black tree trunk which is difficult to see when it is dark and I damaged my car bumper when reversing

Positive experience: Great space. Big an airy. Friendly staff. Lots of machines - cardio and weights -, free weights benches and squat/ weight racks. A real good atmosphere. Several different spaces for floor or stretching exercises. Good set up. Would meet most needs. Went for a few days working out in the area. Perfect for what I needed. Changing rooms cold before work out but right temp for after .

Negative experience: Edit 2 months since this review and still no changes done to the potholes. All you hear now going to the gym or leaving is just loud bangs and scrapes from countless cars being damaged. Cleary this review hasn’t been taken seriously by staff! I have been going JD Gym for the past 3 years and overall it's a good gym. Unfortunately, it is let down by its awful parking facility. Firstly, the two huge potholes which are too big to be ignored, you cannot avoid them and as soon as I go over them I hear scraping noises from the bottom of my car. It is ridiculous that nothing has been done to resolve this and the problem persists. Surely a gym that values its customers would perhaps fix the problem that is causing damage to its customers' cars. This is just for the main parking space in front of the gym. Around the back of the gym, there are also more potholes and at peak times you have no other option but to go through them. Secondly, and still, about parking, there is no control from staff on parking at peak times. There is a queue of cars backing up to the main road because someone has blocked half of the entrance with their car. People also seem to park in between the main corridor just outside the front doors leaving hardly any space for cars to leave and get in. No space to get around them and it causes a traffic jam which is not ideal for anyone with time constraints. I understand it might not be possible to fix my second complaint but surely some sort of sign enforcement might help the situation. As for the first point, I see no reason as to why this is being ignored whilst the problem gets worse every week. Apart from that, great gym and friendly staff!

Fantastic experience: Great Gym in Rugby. Multiple options are available and reasonable prices. Seamless entry and they provide various classess too.

Negative experience: Great staff but after cancelling membership they continued to charge me for 3 months. I'm betting they'll create bad credit.

Negative experience: Rust all over most of the gym equipment, which is highly unhygienic (Attached photos) ! Most of the time machines are out of order. Gym parking is so bad, full of potholes and gravel lying around.

Positive experience: Lots of machines and a good variety of machines. Great price and easy to access with free parking. Many machines are rusty and not in great order (working just janky) Seems to be really busy at all times and doesn't feel like a very friendly gym for a new starter as there is no induction and no staff to welcome or help you out that I could find On my first visit I left my headphones behind and they were stolen - tells you alot about the vibe of the gym (my fault but would have liked if someone handed them in of course)

Negative experience: In response to jd gyms; The car par is not plentyful. Most of the time people are rushing to get the last few spaces and start creating their own lanes. It's pretty full even at 8pm nevermind earlier. Maybe in summer holidays it is quieter but in my 5 month experience there it was always a pain to get parked. Also if it's a struggle to get equipement at 4pm and at 8pm I would say that this is beyond what I would expect for a "well attended gym" so would expect some sort of time management from the gym, which of course there isn't. ---- Shambles of a gym. First the "car park" is always overflowing and it's basically a dirt /gravel free for all. If you go at anything close to peak time you will get cardio machines but it will be a fight for everything else. People are generally allowed to hog the machines even if they are just scrolling through their phones so getting to complete a set is a challenge. Machines themslelves vary from ok to in need of repair. Pile em high sell em cheap policy in action.

Positive experience: Alright for quick session, not best not worst gym been to, could do with a refurb and more equipment, also car park at the back is getting worse.

Negative experience: Terrible gym! All machines just feel like they are about to fall apart. Poor quality equipment. I see other JD gyms in bigger cities that look amazing but the one here is just shocking.

Positive experience: Great gym when it's not busy. Unfortunately at peak times the parking is awful and inside the trainer led class takes up much of the space and lately a group of crosstwit wannabes take over any space left. If you can avoid those times it's okay.

Fantastic experience: All good always machines or weights for you to do.

Positive experience: Been going here since it first opened many years ago, for the price it is good value for my training needs which is weights, resistance, a little cardio and a selection of classes. There's plenty of benches and dumbells, never really had a problem, and plenty of barbells. Good choice of resistance machines, but could do with a few more of the heavily used machines such as leg extension. The changing rooms are clean and have showers and lockers. The negatives - They have reduced the number of classes from what they advertise. The parking is very limited, and have to be careful choosing where to park so some inconsiderate driver doesn't ding or chip your car. The gym routinely gets flooded, and although they have done some work in the car park to fix this, it still floods sometimes when heavy rain. The equipment is dated, but is maintained, but some resistance machines have torn material which is uncomfortable when training. Also, some machines can be out of order for quite a while, e.g. Some of the pulley machines. All in all, you get what you pay for and the gym meets my needs.

Fantastic experience: Great staff. Lots of equipment. Good parking. As any gym at peak times can get busy. Parking at peak hours can be difficult, so be mindful of other gym users when parking. Good changing facilities.

Fantastic experience: Good gym , large floor plan so plenty of equipment. Lots of parking and decent facilities. No contract and low monthly cost so cost effective . Good option for new gym as it covers what you need without commitment. Plenty of classes included in price . Worth the money .

Negative experience: Surface level refurbishment - looks pretty but the fabric of the building is falling apart. Roof is leaking in several areas and the building smells of damp. I have left and joined Nuffield health around the corner - not a great alternative to be honest but better than JD overall.

Positive experience: I love my PT. Been going for over a year now. But JD needs to improve the space for parking and there is not enough space my car got scratched there. There are also lots of under 16 kids that are not checked.

Positive experience: Need to be quicker fixing equipment, instead of putting a sign up recommending you use something else, would be worth training staff to do a basic pulley replacement for example as they often go, Example, straight bench in the free weights has been missing a plastic bar stop for over 3 months now, clearly the equipment isn't checked thoroughly enough Would be good to put signage to return weight disks to stacks also, and make sure every bench has 2 5, 10, 15, and 20 plates on it, they 10,s and 5,s are as rare as hen's teeth! Cable handles often missing, might start bringing in my own

Fantastic experience: Great gym, plenty of equipment. Very cheap. Loads of space. Until after 3pm when the kids pour in. It gets a little frustrating when 1 person is at a station, but 7 of his friends need to stand around him, unaware of others' training nearby. Having said that, it's reasonably clean, car park is pretty big. And the staff are OK and approachable

Positive experience: Very busy not always in a good way. Staff are very hands off I do wish they could enforce some kind of limit on equipment. It's not unheard of for 3 young guys to hang around a machine sharing it, talking etc and effectively putting it out of use for 15 mins or more. Not acceptable in a busy gym. It can seem like a youth hang out at times. Take a look at the cardio kit on the left and compare it's useage to other machines... Could do with 50% less cardio and more resistance kit no one would complain. However, good value, clean and varied.

Negative experience: I called today enquiring about a day pass and was told to just come down and press the buzzer. On arrival I was informed there were no day passes in the vending machine and would require £10 cash which I didn't have. The cleaner and trainer told me I should walk to the nearest ATM in either town or the station with was apparently is 'a quick 5 minute walk' (it wasn't). Whilst in town, I stumbled across an Anytime Fitness offering a 3 day free trial! Perfect for my short visiting stay in Rugby. I called prior to walking to the gym so if I could rate JD a zero I would for wasting my time.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, lots of equipment, lovely atmosphere. Plenty of treadmills and cross trainers, and even when busy there's usually enough equipment to not have to wait much longer than a couple of mins. Parking is a bit of an issue in busy times, ie most evenings... Sometimes I have driven away as couldn't park at all. Membership is reasonably priced and suitable for those on a budget as you are free to cancel with just 1 month's notice, avoiding tied in contracts.

Positive experience: Gets very busy in peak hours and you can't get parked or use anything in the gym during peak hours. Have also had to buy my own cable machine attachments, due to poor choice and not enough of attachments considering they 7 cable machines in there.

Negative experience: Went with a friend on an open day hoping to join but the cleaning lady there was very rude !and had a terrible attitude.! Will not be joining that gym which is a shame.
