Positive experience: I’d say PureGym positions itself at the upper limit of budget gyms, offering affordability and a wide range of equipment suitable for everyone, from beginners to experienced fitness enthusiasts. However, the way the gym is maintained and managed leaves a lot to be desired. The space often feels disrespected – weights and equipment are left scattered, and there’s little encouragement to tidy up after use. Some of the staff seem disengaged, and those who brought energy and enthusiasm to classes are either leaving or have already left. The gym can feel more like a playground at times, with young kids left unsupervised, creating an unregulated and distracting environment for others. It’s frustrating because the gym has so much potential – great space, solid equipment – but it’s hard to take pride in a place that’s run so mediocrely. I’d love to see a fresh sense of care and community injected into it.
Hi Tahmid, thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We ask that members return their weights after use, to ensure that the gym remains and safe and tidy environment for our members. However we know that at busier times, weights are not always returned and our team complete regular re-sets of the gym. We understand that this is sometimes frustrating for our members, and it is included within our Gym Rules that members should return weights after use. Anybody witnessed leaving equipment out of place will be spoken to by our Gym Team. Negative experience: Left the following message on Trustpilot three days ago and gym commented back saying something in line of taking it seriously and trying to get the issues resolved. But here are the shots from tonight. Several feedback forms have been completed mentioning hygiene and cleanliness issues. Unfortunately, no improvements have been noticed so far. The soap dispenser in the gents has been broken for over a week, one of the urinals is nearly blocked, and the cubicles are very dirty. I’m seriously considering moving to another gym.

Negative experience: The gym is in a downward spiral. I will start saying that maybe it is the price; it is cheap and the experience is hell. Unfortunately, it is the gym that is close to my place and convenient; that is why I have stayed since it opened, but it is becoming unbearable. It is basically overcrowding with students—the type that take off their shirts to show off in the mirror, the type that go in groups and monopolise equipment, the type that makes you question the intelligence of human beings. There is also a strong odour, more than what you expect, so not great ventilation. And before I get a reply saying that outside of peak times it is not busy, it is not true. I have tried different times, and essentially during the day and when the uni is on, it is busy all the time between 100 and 170 people at a time. I don’t plan to go to the gym at midnight or at 2am to have a good workout. The equipment is also sometimes broken and out of service for some weeks. I get it; their model is to pack the gyms and offer cheap prices; the problem is that going to the gym becomes an annoyance. Avoid if you can. The one star goes for location, and because I am sure the poor staff do the best they can.

Positive experience: Higher price than any pure gym I been Parking 2.5 hour only so you will be lucky if you work out and had shower Have to be worried about it

Positive experience: Great classes,plenty of space, good equipment. Toilets are sometimes quite dirty, often no toilet roll even after asking for toilet roll was told non in the whole building,this is very poor!

Negative experience: good value for money. generally feels neglected. a number of machines never have their batteries changed, scale has been broken for months, drinking fountain has been broken for weeks and the door didn’t work last week so we had to go through fire escape. spent 15 minutes trying to get staff attention about some misplaced property with 2 staff members ignoring me and 1 desperately avoiding eye contact

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. Positive experience: Love the gym itself but if you want to go at busier times, like in the evening or for classes, parking can be a real issue. Classes are back to back so doesn't allow for people to leave before the next class are parking. Can be up to 30 in a classes and multiple classes on at the same time. I raised the issue with them via Facebook messenger, first reply wasn't sympathetic. 2nd reply was better but I don't expect anything to change. Shame

Positive experience: Gym itself is great - lots of space and equipment and friendly staff. I am however getting increasingly frustrated with some selfish equipment hoggers. Especially on popular things like the lateral pull down machine…Often see 1 person on it for like >20 minutes. Literally do 5 reps then just sit there for 5 mins looking at their phone in between sets. . Really, really annoying! Would be great if could have a few more of the popular machines

Fantastic experience: Large gym with plenty of space and equipment. It can get very busy, so it's worth checking the app to see how busy it is. Easy to get to with its own car park If you go regularly, it's good value

Negative experience: I liked this gym but it’s not been maintained. There’s a permanent bad smell in the sink and the hand dryer hasn’t worked in the men’s changing room for about 3 months. The showers are tepid as other people have said. It’s pretty good value if you’re not fussed about the changing facilities, the staff are nice and it’s an airy and light place to work out, with views of the park. I’m sad to leave it really, but it’s grim if you want to wash.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, 24/7. Weights are a little hard to find, but they have plenty of them for most lifters. Great equipment (racked and freeloading). Tons of space. Value for money. Busy gym, definitely be prepared to wait for equipment.

Fantastic experience: Personally I absolutely love this place! Early morning classes are amazing! Brilliant teachers, classes included, brilliant facilities. I’ve been to others at Bath but there is no question this is the best value by far. Couldn’t recommend more.

Positive experience: -Lots of equipments in good condition especially the weights and squats section -Parking is a plus -Friendly faces around which makes a difference Biggest issue is shower cubicle which has a bit of mould and tepid temperature which is usually fine for summer but not ideal for winter especially when the shower turns off every 30sec and you freeze. It would be great if the shower was a bit warmer around 37degrees as other gyms. Will happily change my review if there’s an improvement in the near future. All the best!

Negative experience: Equipment on the floor is great, however the changing rooms leave a lot to be desired - there was chewing gum on the floor of the shower and the toilet floor was covered in water

Fantastic experience: Never been to a gym before down to anxiety, I was so intimidated by the idea of being surrounded by gym sharks and looking like an idiot. I’ve now been going to this gym since October and wish I’d started sooner! Everyone there is so friendly and supportive from staff to other gym users. Everyone is very encouraging and always willing to give helpful advice when trying anything new. The machines have QR codes that link to videos on how to use them, equipment and facilities are always clean. Could not recommend enough!

Positive experience: It’s got all the gear and the layout is good (not too crowded). Pretty good value for money - although one of the most expensive PureGyms I’ve ever encountered, including those in London! Cleanliness lets it down, so 4 stars not 5

Positive experience: There are no cardio, aerobics, or mind-body exercise classes e.g. Body combat, Steps, Tai chi, and Pilates. For Zumba you have to pay extra and current classes are mostly static and designed for inactive people!

Fantastic experience: The place seems larger than the other pure gym. The machines are new and they work perfectly. There are plenty of lockers and fridges with drinks and snacks. Good gym overall.

Negative experience: Absolutely crazy busy at all times - you can get there at 10pm on a weekday and every free weight will still be taken. If you come straight from work to the gym it is genuinely uncomfortable, almost nightclub levels of busy.

Negative experience: I contacted the manager of this gym with a complaint and was ignored. I then contacted the manager again requesting a follow up to my complaint and was ignored for a second time. Both messages were received and 'read'. I have cancelled my membership as a result.

Positive experience: A good gym, a short walk away from my place and a short walk away from the city centre. It's not long been open, so ask me again in 6 months time!

Negative experience: A lovely gym and a pleasure to visit Very clean and looked after The only downside is the volume of the spinning classes it is so unpleasant people complain and leave and they do nothing about it.

Fantastic experience: Love it! Nice and cold inside makes it easy to push yourself. They keep the machines and club very clean. All types of machines and weights available, plenty of treadmills and bikes. The only drawback is it’s a bit small; there are only one of several types of machines. So if you go during a busy period, you may end up waiting for a machine.

Our gyms simply are very popular and so can become busy especially at peak times, but this does fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day. Members can also use the members area via the PureGym app or website, to see how many people are in the gym. To make the most of the space where possible, we always aim to provide a broad spread of kit to cater to a range of fitness needs and meet demand as it changes through the day, getting the balance right between weights and cardio. Fantastic experience: A very well equipped gym. Dumbbells up to 50s, 24 hour, large selection of fixed resistance machines as well as cardio machines. Clean and tidy, wasn't busy in the mornings, didn't go during peak times though, so can't comment on that. All in all a very impressive gym.

Fantastic experience: The trainers/fitness team are amazing. The classes are good, well planned and suitable for all. I'm absolutely loving it! There's plenty of room between equipment, giving it an airy feel.
