Negative experience: Paid annual membership and for the two weeks I've been there most facilities do not work

Fantastic experience: Recently signed up to David Lloyd Gidea Park and was contacted by a member of their sales team called Elizabeth. She was very helpful and efficient, making my experience smooth and stress-free. She was very clear, knowledgeable and eager to explain the benefits of my chosen membership. Overall a great experience!

Negative experience: For the price you charge can be much better. From £1480 to £2000 a year no way anymore.

Fantastic experience: Three squash courts available here. Other facilities include tennis, swimming pool and a kids soft play area.

Fantastic experience: It is fabolous place. Clean and well maintained with bunc of respectfull people. Never hesitate. Just go.

Negative experience: I am not happy at all. Everytime I give this club a chance to redeem themselves, they don't fail to disappoint. I booked my son onto swimming classes, the swimming manager led the session he booked onto but she was very abrupt and rude to him, which I did not bring to light, I simply moved him after letting reception staff know. He got moved to a session which was not a suitable time so we got changed to a suitable one. Third time lucky we were half way through this session and he was just taken off the register for that class suddenly. We have been very confused and have tried to get this resolved asap. I spoke to the swimming manager who lead his first lessons and she did not apologise for any error/mistake and simple told me that she would put me on a waitlist for the SAME class he was already attending before someone clearly changed it. With this person being the swimming manager and given the history with what's happened it seems very clear that she may have taken the move of class personally and is just causing us an inconvenience. I have tried to email several times to understand why we cannot be given OUR space back when we made NO change to it. There is NO acknowledgement that this is a mistake on their end and there has been no apology. I have made many attempts to resolve this. Someone needs to sort this out as soon as possible, it is not appropriate and its completely out of order.

Fantastic experience: Just signed up for my membership with David Lloyd at Gidea Park. Elizabeth was a joy to deal with and explained all the membership options and benefits to me thoroughly. Once I was all signed up she showed me how to set up the app and I was away. Thanks Elizabeth!

Fantastic experience: Olivia from the sales team has been extremely supportive and informative! We had a tour scheduled for 1pm which we arrived early for and she was happy to start earlier with us. Olivia was keen on finding out more about what we were looking for and our thoughts in general. She’s been actively involved throughout the tour and kept on checking with us if we had any questions. Once the viewing was over she offered us a free coffee ☕️ in the lobby area and provided us all the relevant information about the pricing and final charges. She followed up with us at 6pm as instructed! And we decided to proceed with the David Lloyds in Gidea Park at the end of the day

Negative experience: This branch of David Lloyd should be closed down immediately. I was a member for 2 years and I will put up with it no longer. The celcius spa gate is always broken allowing anyone who does pay for the privilege to enter. The facilities are never fully operational and the garden to the rear of the spa is a health hazard. The image of the bin with old food, trainers, maggots and filth was taken 6 weeks after the bin was dumped outside and despite being reported it was just left there by staff. It is disgusting. The spa plunge pool rarely works and when it does it is filthy. When maintenance is required this undertaken in within opening hours meaning you cannot use it. The steam or sanarium is out of action monthly. I sent a complaint email on the 6th September and no one at the branch has even bothered to come back to me. Absolutely shameful customer service and very low standard - Im taking my business elsewhere.

Positive experience: Not great value for the location. But not a whole lot of other options for gyms with decent wet facilities - staff/ owners know it too, cold plunge is broken almost half of the time and they don't care - took 6 weeks to repair it once in 2024 and it broke again straight after (no credit, no sorry). It's usually way warmer than it should be too. Don't tell me you can't paid extra for a little hustle. I don't believe you.It's usually way warmer than it should be too. Staff are generally decent. Every now and then there will be a jobsworth on a power trip minding the front desk quizzing people if they are platinum members before handing out towels. Seriously?: 1) They should be free anyway at those rates even for lower tiers 2) It's annoying having to ask, especially when there is a que, I paid enough for you to make my life easier with the little things 3) my membership shows up when I scan through the gates - do your job without accusing me of theft (see #2) Will drop membership without looking back if similar facilities opens near by.

Fantastic experience: Lisa and Olivia were very pleasant yet professional. Lisa managed to convince me to join as i initially came in as a support system for my friend with no plans of joining the club. Everywhere looks really neat and classes friendly as well. Oh and we got free warm drinks, Thank you!

Negative experience: Hi I recently overheard some staff at David Lloyd talking about the fact the Gidea Park DL have been degraded are now below the Basildon club! In regards to service, equipment, cleanliness and more.....SO does this mean my membership can be reduced? I was outside by the pool this morning and was absolutely disgusted that there are only 4 umbrellas.....there are so many members that take kids and have no shade for them especially the babies! I saw the life guard get a friend a clapped out broken umbrella that was covered in bird poo and full on snails and cobwebs.... Which he opened over the sun loungers and dried poo dust and cobwebs fell on their stuff! I went over and took some photos as attached......the lifeguard said DL are supposed to buying more umbrellas.....really! When ? When it's winter! I think its bad enough Gidea Park get all the old furniture...sun loungers from Chigwell! .... Would be nice to spend some of our money making the club better! The mthly fee to be a member is an absolute joke as it is.....the gym floor is a total mess of weights just chucked everywhere! Obviously lazy people including the ones that sit on the phone and not using the machines! Look forward to hearing from you....

I’ve had a couple of PT sessions with Lisa and she couldn’t have been any more helpful. She is super kind, extremely knowledgable and has really helped re-build my confidence. I will continue to use her services and really urge anyone else to do so too! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

He explains everything in detail without being overwhelming. Club itself is lovely, especially the spa is a treat. Everyone is always friendly and happy to help.

Negative experience: David Lloyd’s is a scam who want nothing but to extort money. Over the past 2 months they have sent me emails about an outstanding balance when I’m not even a member and after calling and explaining the issue they still demand money.

Positive experience: If your looking for a top quality gym then this is the place !

Positive experience: Not great for the money you pay, if you go after work it’s packed and as it doesn’t open til 6am it doesn’t give you enough time before work to get in and train if you work up London like I do and have to be on site for 7-7.30, seems to be a lot of teen in there of a weekend messing about, the spas great when it all works, not as well equipped as gyms such as absalute, with some tweaks it could be a lot better

Positive experience: Bit of a let down for what it costs. I have also used other David Lloyds, which are much better equipped. Only decent thing here, is the tennis, but i dont use those facilities at all.

Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed my visit, as always. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, with modern equipment and a variety of classes. The team are friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help.

Negative experience: Did a trial and cancelled as it wasn’t a convenient spot for my routine. This was within the 14 day trial period. They tell you not to cancel you DD. 2 weeks after cancelling they took out another £220 . I’ve now been waiting a 7 weeks and counting for a refund and keep having to chase them up. I’ve been not told they can’t promise but may be by next Monday. Ridiculously bad service. ‍♀️ Update ; And still waiting….8 weeks and counting !!

Positive experience: If you are coming here just for the gym, don’t. It’s not easy finding a high quality gym in the area but this isn’t the best gym out there. A £30 pcm gym group has far better equipment and enough people to keep restocking weights and equipment. I also wish they added more weights given the number of people using them. The other facilities are decent for the price. The spa is really well maintained and has a decent cafe.

Negative experience: The water barely comes from the shower may be 10% of it supposed to come. Literally the water is just dripping from the shower unit(platinum section). I almost sat in a couple of needles in the dry sauna. Probably somebody(no clue how) disassembled the bench on the top right side and left it upside down. There is small "garden" entry from platinum section. There are some dirty chairs and 2 sunbeds and lots of rubbish. It looks like an abandoned place for usless metal-plastic things. I just wonder if there is any maintenance there at all? We ordered some food (the staff apologised for the missing bacons from the meals this was the only 1 good point there). Normally we visit David Lloyd's in Southend, but the dry sauna does not work overthere for months so we took extra 25 miles to get to the Gidea Park. I am so disappointed.

Negative experience: 1- my son went to a club a serious incident happened to which a member of staff approached us I ground of everyone breaching GDPR exposing other children's names blindly accusing my child of serious things and calling him a liar a complaint was logged no one has bothered to contact me 2- a tennis coach called stated they are doing a month free my next bill was £80 extra again no reply when I queried this just emails asking for payment 3 I pay 270 per month the spa is dirty dirty tissue everywhere no staff in the gym it's a mess I only continued my membership because my children enjoyed it now they will not step foot in there after what has happened and how the club has dealt with it yet apparently I cannot cancel my membership

Negative experience: When you go to this place and sort your membership out you either pay monthly or for the whole year you can’t cancel it as it will just put you in arrears and you will be emailed this by arc Europe to tell you that you haven’t payed so be prepared. for this when you sign up they just want you to pay for 12 months and not just for the months that your going. Even if you negotiate be prepared to be paying 1200 pound for a whole year.

Fantastic experience: Had a potential incident today with some lost items and I can’t speak highly enough of the way the staff handled the situation. Very pro-active with a brilliant ‘attention to detail.’ Very sensitive and understanding throughout. Chelsi and Cole were magnificent and Incredibly professional. I’m in the gym everyday, as are my family, and we all really enjoy the DL and everything it offers. If equipment isn’t put back or towels not put away then that’s on individuals. We all have a responsibility. You never see staff sitting down idle. If you need anything they can’t do enough for you. Its a constant machine that doesn’t stop. Occasionally things will need repair. That’s the price of having so much under one roof. Brilliant staff, great up to date facilities, nice social side, good members, excellent instructors. My membership works out at roughly £3.60 a day. Brilliant value for money.

Fantastic experience: Had a great week at DLGP this week. Tara Hockley is a good and fun instructor. Love her classes and her style. Also shout out to Kerry Mills for her Pilates, when I can get there! Also enjoy Vicky for the Saturday motivator session of Ignite We’ll done Team DLGP

Negative experience: Just tried to use this gym on a simple guest pass basis from my brother who's a member at flagship David Lloyd's clubs, they refused me access stating that it's company policy to come with the actual member. Despite it not being clarified. After I explained that I travelled over 40 minutes with colleagues that are members I still couldn't manage to get in. At the end I asked whether I could just get in and workout for thirty mins But during that discussion the disrespectful comment by the lady who's supposed to be a manager was unacceptable, insinuating that I would have a violent altercation inside the gym. I wouldn't use this gym even if she offered free unlimited access at this point.

Fantastic experience: It’s been absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Super easy to arrange a booking, great follow up. The girls on the day, Sophia, Millie, Melis, were simply the best, funny, friendly, kind and caring. As for a parent, most of the things were arranged for me and I got to enjoy the party. Very kind caring lady

Positive experience: I have been using Carisse as my personal trainer now for the last 7 months. She is the best trainer I’ve ever had. Carisse has been great at making sure I get my posture right and helps me get full benefit from every session. She’s definitely one of the top trainers at David Lloyd! Sometimes she spends more than the session length, going above and beyond. She takes so much pride in what she does and has great passion and care for each customer. And not only do I work hard but also have good fun and conversation with her. Very personable. Would highly recommend her. Friends and family of mine are regularly commenting on the difference they are noticing.

Fantastic experience: Michelle is the most Caring happy and full of life employee in the gidea park David Llyod.. kids love her and she’s always got the kids best interest at heart. My little one really enjoys coming to the playgroup every Tuesday and when it’s time to go he kisses her goodbye.. honestly such a lovely lady!!
