Fantastic experience: Im from Eastbourne but ive Been here a few times since 2018 to watch worthing thunder basketball its a really nice leisure centre good food snacks and drinks you can purchase while watching the basketball game

Positive experience: This place is tired... needs a massive injection of cash and enthusiasm if it wants to survive

Fantastic experience: Excellent

Negative experience: I rarely give low reviews but they are impossible to reach and wouldn’t want others to share my experience. The gym is fairly typical of a smaller council leisure centre gym. Has most things you would expect but annoyingly as a member you can’t just turn up you have to book online first and the app is somewhat clunky. You can sign up easily in person. Unfortunately stopping was not so easy. I went in person to stop the membership just as I had done to sign up and was told there would be a further payment taken as it’s a month’s notice. This was just days after my billing cycle so I enquired if it would be pro rata and was told not; so essentially nearly 2 months notice. A little annoying but it was what it was… Only they didn’t just take the next payment, they took another after that, so I went back in person and enquired and they said they apologised and said they would contact accounts to get it refunded. I checked I was ok to stop my direct debit as I explained with the utmost respect I was concerned such an error could occur and was reassured it was sorted. Crickets! No call to sort the refund; I was going to just leave it as a dreadfully bad experience but it got worse! They tried to collect another direct debt payment which thankfully I had stopped but then in failing to collect I got sent a threatening debt letter warning of legal action even though it is they who owe me money! A few months on I am still awaiting a call from their accounts team who work limited hours and am still awaiting the refund (they have at least acknowledged the error and stopped trying to collect debits).

Negative experience: I had high hopes for the soft play area when I brought my daughter for her 3rd birthday here. She was hoping for some fun but sadly that was completely spoilt by a few children screaming for the whole hour we were there and the parents didn’t seem to be doing anything (I understand this isn’t the leisure centre’s fault). The whole place smelt like chlorine (due to it being on the ground floor with no windows - if it was on a floor higher up, this wouldn’t be an issue). Tried to change daughter in loos - she had had an accident - but they were filthy so had to leave. Very disappointed and we won’t be back. 23/09/2024 - Sadly no reply to this yet.

Negative experience: It is not safe place for you & your family , if your things are stolen there is no action taken , cameras there are useless even if they saw who stole your things they will never take serious action, so if you decide to go keep your eyes all the time for your things.

Negative experience: WARNING ⚠️ REPORTS OF KIDS GETTING SKIN BURNS FROM SWIMMING POOL. South downs leisure sites seem to have dangerous gym equipment with very poor servicing and the sites are so dirty it is a risk. Having seen people injured on gym equipment I tried to get the equipment made safe but it remains dangerous. I think I caught covid at one centre which never gets cleaned. Filthy and smelly. Note they replied to this review a month after it being published. I had already tried for several months to get them to take action on multipke issues but nothing suitable was done. I have become aware they get lots of tax payer funding which explains the lack of care of the end users. Dirt left for years on wooden beams, the Varnish streaming from the wooden ceiling panels into the pool, very dirty everywhere and proper filthy benches and floor. Machines need adjusting which is easy but it seems nobody knows what to do.

Positive experience: Was there for a special occasion, room & access were great. Bar staff coped very well with such a crowd of different ages

Negative experience: Trampolining lessons here (teen age group) have been disappointing. They were there for 7 months without any real “teaching” happening, never once told about the badge scheme that they were supposed have been doing and the 2 main coaches choose to predominantly sit on the sides eating snacks and just watching the kids. Also, once I complained about the issues, my children have been made to feel really awkward in returning as the coaches then decided to make a complaint back about them in some kind of petty spiteful back and forth. WASTE OF MONEY.

Positive experience: Lots of parking. Flood light outside football and inside gym. Plus has cafe and bar, vending machines. Is linked also to lime tree surgery that has venues in Findon, Durrington and Goring. For physio rehab etc. Has lots of sports facilities too.

Fantastic experience: Been using this place for around 25 years and expect to carry on for another 25.

Negative experience: Very nice facility BUT they close their suana area at 12 till 5pm this I find absolutely mad to be honest. Considering all the members I have spoken to about this agrees with the pure frustration this causes. Apparently everyone gets the same spill regarding usage and cost but to be honest this is nonsense and if this is their excuse then please feel free to give you members a discount on their fees considering some of your facilities are out of order most of the day.

Fantastic experience: Friendly environment. My ability to focus and concentration is very low because of PTSD, i was really amazed in the bootcamp session, Helen was very helpful and attentive.

Without their support the event wouldn't have gone ahead and we wouldn't have been able to raise over £600 for Chestnut Tree House. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: We booked the Shaftesbury suite for my 60th birthday party! I wanted to give my thanks and praise to the duty manager who went above and beyond to help! He was very professional and helpful. There was an issue with the tills due to a basketball match going on as well but he came out to find me and kept me informed of everything and couldn’t do enough to help! Trying to get us few stragglers out at 11.30 was a bit of a nightmare but he was very patient and kind and all the other staff helping as well as the bar staff were amazing! Lovely venue for a party !

Positive experience: Small but fun soft play area. Just enough to let kids run of steam after school. Our 3 month old loved the sensory area, whilst our 10year old had fun playing.

Positive experience: Good gym overall Spa is incredible excellent health suite Changing rooms need to be updated awful smell and very dated Lockers are rusty also. Can we start having spin dryers in the facilities please?

Negative experience: GETTING WORSE… I’ve been going to Worthing leisure centre for years now because of it’s cheap prices and location close to my house however the most ridiculous new placement has been put in recently where you have to BOOK the gym via the app which is ridiculous, and also have to scan a QR code to get in! I’ve never heard of something so stupid in my life. How does this rule work with the older people who don’t have access to a phone? Or when your phone dies and you haven’t booked? Or if you simply didn’t want to bring your phone to the gym… WHY does everything have to be on a mobile nowadays? I asked a member of staff why this is now the case and he said because the cards were less sustainable for the environment which he also rolled his eyes at in which I completely understand. Stop changing things that don’t need to be changed and bring back the membership cards. ALSO, THE SHOWERS HAVE MOULD… The sauna and jacuzzi facilities are NEVER working. Not to mention how run down it is, weights room isn’t even in the same room as the gym! Gym room is also not that big and looks like they cramp everything in, Whole place is becoming a joke. Nobody wants to have to book up a slot for the gym neither scan things it’s such an inconvenient process.

Positive experience: I go to the centre every few months to watch my walking footie take part in leagues there over 60s/70s good facilities and not expensive coffees. And plenty of seats and wheelchair friendly

Positive experience: Went to support my son Not use fitness facilities. Toilets were disgustingly dirty in the Ladies (my wife visited) with paper and dirt strewn on both toilet and floor. Coffee shop tables sticky and noticed food & dirt down a crevice too. Coffee overpriced against other places and can't make out if boarded walls are temporary or the finished item. From the fitness point of view I didn't notice anything amiss but I'm not in that field.

Fantastic experience: Popped in just to get our sons fit4 app sorted. Staff at reception were brilliant and fixed the issue in no time. Our sons have really enjoyed the access to all the facilities over this school holiday period, great idea.

Negative experience: Noisy team of basketball refs take over the health suite changing rooms as lack of facilities, shouting at the top of their voices. The gym is full of people but WLC close the spa at lunchtime. Bizarre! WLC up your game. I have had enough of this low end facility - off to David Lloyd!

Positive experience: I use this place for the gym. It's OK but can be very busy and there isn't much equipment so you can end up waiting to use what you need.

Fantastic experience: Love the pole and lyra classes

Negative experience: Been a member for 12 years and it really has the feeling that it is being led to the knackers yard for putting down. The final straw has been the closing of the sauna and jacuzzi area for 5 hours between 12 and 5pm. As a shift worker I used to use this area consistently in the afternoons to combat mental health alignment. This has been done with no consultation with members. When questioned about this decision all i am fobbed off with is to go to splashpoint! Have you tried parking at splashpoint ? Update January 2024.... The Spa area is still shut at 12pm until 5pm..so make sure you dont have any classes that run past midday. As a shift worker it is totally unacceptable and a complete disregard to anyone who doesnt work 9 to 5. Fobbed off by the CEO about caring about the 3Ps. Shoddy, shoddy shoddy.

Negative experience: Went to see the kids play area. It's like someone's living room it's thst small. The walls were sweating. Not sure if this was to be mould or from all the small people in there squashed into the tiny room and condensation. But they were wet. Kids toys and plastic balls looked dirty.

Negative experience: Went last night at 8.30pm,no member of staff at reception, to book me in for the gym, office door wide open, I walked into the office calling out, office empty no members of staff,I walked round to gym rang Bell, nothing,walked back to reception , stll no member of staff,looked in main hall,nothing, walked down to cafe area, found a member of staff who finally booked me in. Not good at all for security of personal paperwork.

Negative experience: Always some equipment non functional, at all times full of children and equipment after refurbishment considerably worse. Questionable safety as one piece of weight equipment pulled free from the wall while I was there and luckily missed injuring the person using it.

Fantastic experience: Sport and fitness active are partaken here

Positive experience: Great facilities for sport activities, good gym, facilities for toddlers with soft play and trampolining. There is a refreashment area and it does have high chairs for use. All activities based on ground floor. Good value for money. Staff friendly and helpful. Can be very busy so book in advance.

Positive experience: As far as leisure centres go, it looks very complete and clean. I came as a visitor to an event and was very impressed.

Positive experience: Used to better but it is not cleaned properly and the gym has too many kids in it whereas it used to be over 18.

Positive experience: We use thse palce regularly. Not great, drinks machines rarely work so you ahve to search around for someone to get a refund - not easy. In the hot weather, while they have air con apparently they chose not to put it on so it's sweltering inside. Overall, definitely average.

Positive experience: I go here for my Gym sessions. Not that well looked after as a whole building. But at the same time it's probably the most affordable in area. I would strongly suggest the management and whoever is responsible - to not only write rules for the GYM, but also put someone there that asks people to follow those rules. Gym is often full of backpacks, sweaters and other stuff dropped on the ground/corners or between the machines. Yet there are locker rooms.

Negative experience: I would have said it was a good gym. But after several of the apparatus being broken for weeks at a time, the gym being closed today for no reason at all other than the local election... which is in the gymnasium NOT in the weights room, so completely pointless. And the fact they put the prices up, THEN started closing the spa area from 12 to 5 every day.. I've had enough of it. Paying £44 a month and getting less for my money. Weights room is a bit small and gets crowded at peak times, but thats expected. Also there's loads of staff floating about. None of which seem to do anything. Stand around chatting to their mates. Under 16's in the gym taking up the machines and apparatus but not using them or using them correctly. No surprise stuff keeps getting broken. Dumbells are all mixed up. No one ever bother's to enforce putting weights back in the racks, plates back or No gym bags on the floor! Which is out of order. Rather expensive for what it is. Day membership to use the weights is £10 which is ridiculous. Locker rooms are minging. Scummy looking, dirty shower floors. Toilets don't flush. £100 joining fee? Place is a dump.

Negative experience: Rude staff with no manners, someone collapsed on a treadmill and I had to go and get a staff member, didn't even get a thank you, not to mention first aider made big mistakes. After coming to the gym yesterday and being ignored when asking the staff a question and another staff member talking over me, Badly run, staff have zero training. I will be taking my money elsewhere.

Positive experience: I am really enjoying attending classes here since lockdown lifted. Its sad the cafe hasnt opened yet, so fingers crossed it will soon. The reception staff are more welcoming than I have previously experienced. There could be more for my 4 year old to do with his membership, but we are delighted Amazon adventures has reopened!

Fantastic experience: Great facilities, especially the astro is superb. Staff is nice. Loads of different facilities, such as the gym, football, basketball and more. There is also a cafeteria as well, which sells loads of different snacks, sandwiches and drinks. Definitely recommend it.

Positive experience: Good selection of activities to choose from. And there was a very large car park.

Positive experience: First time here but was doing the St Barnabas midnight walk, so difficult to rate. Seemed to have a lot of facilities though and a big car park.

Positive experience: Wish it had a pool but can't overstate how a lot of the fear of attending is alleviated by the videos on the website, they can seem very basic but they show that there's really nothing to fear missing out on etiquette or how to use each machine

Positive experience: I go too WLC to use their gym. For a small gym it has most of the equipment you would need. Only reason for 4 stars is because the changing room/toilet/showers are very old and dated. They also have wooden shutter doors leading to the changing room which is right next to the door to enter the changing room and the toliet. Seems like an accident waiting to happen.

Negative experience: Kids not cleaning down equipment after use. Staff not bothered. Disgraceful with covid around. Take your money and don't give a s×××

Negative experience: Having just returned from your site at Worthing leisure centre I was very disappointed to see that the Covid rules currently in force in England are not being adhered to. I entered the weights room at my allocated time to already find 11 people (only 8 available slots per 1 hour available to book) in there not socially distancing. I went to the front desk and informed them of the situation and was told someone would go check. I then waited for more than 10 minutes outside of the weights room and no one came by. I went back to the front desk and spoke to the member of staff again and was told "oh yeah. I was going to send someone over there". Eventually when the member of staff appeared 2 of the weights room users were leaving the room and was told by the member of staff "there you go, you can go in now" and he walked away. Considering Government guidelines won't allow me to visit relatives or friends indoors and your own guidelines on the gym app, I find it ridiculous that your establishment allows gym users to do as they please with no regard for the rules, and when I speak to members of staff I get fobbed off. If indoors group activities are not allowed until the 17th of May, nor meeting with your friends, 8 people in a tiny room with no ventilation and no social distancing is NOT ok. I do not feel safe, nor I did felt the member of your staff were taking the matter seriously.
