Negative experience: The gym and changing rooms are filthy. This is not a one-off. It happens too often. I want to use the facilities I am paying for. The quality of this gym has become unacceptable. Management clearly gave up on it and are just waiting to shut.

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars, I would. This gym is a wreck, yet they keep raising the prices — which, honestly, I'd love an explanation for. Are we paying extra for the ambiance of unchecked mould on the walls? Because I notified them about it over a year ago, and not only did they ignore it, but the mould has spread like it’s aiming for a takeover. The equipment? Old, broken, or just sticky with... whatever it is, because it clearly hasn’t seen a cleaning cloth in ages. When a machine breaks, expect it to stay broken for months, like a permanent "Out of Order" exhibit. And don't get me started on the mirrors and lighting. Half the mirrors are cracked or just gross, and the lights? Flip a coin if you’re there at night; it’s a game of “Will I Be Working Out in the Dark?” every time. Summer workouts are an absolute joy, too — no air conditioning. But hey, they’ve got a big, dusty fan that looks like it’s still holding onto particles from the pandemic. Real commitment to hygiene there. So, bottom line? Save your money, your time, and maybe even your health.

Negative experience: It has been a good gym for what I pay but I have just found out it will be closing so reconsider or ask them about this, if you are planning to pay for a membership soon.

Fantastic experience: Good swimming facilities overall, standard 25m pool and very affordable compared to other swimming pools in the area (£7 per entry at Ferry Leisure Centre, at the time of writing Brookes is £4.50)

Positive experience: Small but decent sports centre with swimming pool, gym, 1 squash court and gym classes.

Negative experience: It’s anything but gym. The equipment is broken all the time and it seems that no one looks after them. You pay tons of money and you get a poor service in return. I wouldn’t go to this gym if there were any other gym in Botley.

Negative experience: Regarding the gym. The equipment is ageing and outright broken in some instances. It's OK but there are cheaper and more modern options in Oxford. They do take cleanliness seriously during covid times. The staff are excellent. The pool is OK but it's close to impossible to get a booking slot if you want to lane swim. I noticed, as a slow swimmer, the speed of the lanes wasn't always enforced which is irritating. Beware the parking. There is a constant shark swimming around waiting to plaster tickets on unsuspecting motorists despite the generous space they have up there.

Fantastic experience: Brookes sport is a great gym facility. There is a wide range of activities, classes and facilities on offer to suit most tastes and needs. The staff are friendly and very helpful. There is plenty of parking as well should you need it.

Negative experience: Pretty outdated and small gym, swimming pool is ok. Vending machines charge you but don't dispense anything, staff suggested I call the vending machine company and shrugged it off. Not worth £30 per month.

Fantastic experience: The gym facility is the only thing I used till today and I must say it's really well maintained

Negative experience: Ignore the previous reviews the prices have been put up and the standard unfortunately has gone down. Broken and unserviced machines, mouldy walls in the gym, and mouldy tiles in the ceiling of the sauna room. You complain but nothing happens. It’s like they just don’t care any more.

Fantastic experience: Found myself in the area and decided to do a tourist Park Run at Harcourt Hill Oxford. I was there very early, staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. It was great to stay in the warm until the last few minutes and the run was smashing. The winners for me were free parking, the two lovely ladies on reception and being able to use the showers for free. I thought it was a lovely atmosphere, very friendly and well worth a repeat visit.

Positive experience: Pretty nice gym, sports hall and yoga hall, all good gear. Decent pool, although needs some redecorating! Changing rooms getting old though. Generally quite friendly staff, and actually a rather reasonable price!

Negative experience: It's a big shame, but it has been ruined. My children have both used the swimming lessons there for years very happily. Unfortunately, there is a new incompetent manager (Stuart McC) there. When my daughter progressed to the end of the swimming lessons with 2 lessons to go, we informed Stuart that we would like the refund for 4 lessons that were still pre paid. He explained that nothing could be done about the 2 lessons that were for the end of the course (fair enough). However, he could refund the remaining 2 lessons....in 57 days time at the earliest because he was 'short staffed'. I have been a manager for years and this does not wash. When produced with a letter he signed himself saying that you could get a refund, I received a nonsense email filled with bluff, jargon and no substance. Still curious as to whether it will take 57 days to get a £16.00 refund. Personally, I wouldn't sign up to any sports membership here whilst this incompetent manager is in charge, unless you want to find yourself in this situation over any membership fees.
