Village Gym Blackpool

Fantastic experience: Love it here, friendly staff, great equipment in the gym/fitness suite, and the pool area is great - indoor pool is lush, outdoor pool is a little chilly for me in the middle of winter but I often try and brave the cold for a few lengths, and the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna are great additions. Love it here!!

Negative experience: The male leisure staff are generally just horrible

Negative experience: Joining here is like boarding a half sunken ship. Been going to Village since I was an infant, and started in the gym in 2014. Back then it was great. Now the staff are useless and change every week with not even a smile on most of their faces, half the facilities are shut down or unavailable such as the functional room which sometimes I visit just for that and it's closed. Leaks in the gym constantly and too much focus on technology and screens rather than purpose. Every now and then they repaint the walls instead of fixing a multitude of issues that have been there for at least 5 years. They'll ignore all these problems and put a new TV in the hallway next to the other 3 and act like it's an improvement, then increase your membership The worst problem lately is the clientele - used to be respectful members and now it's all chavs and yobs, surprisingly worse than JD gym. You go to relax in the sauna and half the time it's filled with groups of young lads or a couple inconsiderate men swearing shouting and having vile conversations. This has driven most of the good members away.. They removed the heavy bag from the studio and now only have terrible aqua bags that you can barely access in the functional room. Squash courts have been closed down - they're basically charging more for less now. Massive rip off. Also when you want to bring a friend to the gym which can easily lead to them joining up - they charge a ridiculous price like £12 which is almost a monthly membership at other local gyms. This not only makes everyone mad but also puts anyone off joining - management with a brain would know that you charge less for day passes to increase the likelihood of return, then the customer would consider joining to save having to pay each time. One word for this place - disaster (- gave it another chance recently and the sauna was barely warm, filled with loud shouting and swearing chavs. You can see all the decent members in the changing rooms fed up. I'm done. Will join elsewhere)

Negative experience: No communication to their members, myself and 3 others are members purely for the use of the squash courts, they leak, double book the courts, making it impossible to book by only being able to do so by calling the reception team and generally the courts are forgotten about as are the members who use them. After being a member for 5 years when we started with 3 courts, I am now cancelling my membership, as they have now decided to close another court leaving only 1 court, making it impossible to play squash games as groups and get slots on the court, they have done this without communicating it to the members that use them. The service has been dreadful over the course of my membership raising many complaints and concerns and not getting any answers. This is a club that doesn’t listen to its members or communicate with them. I can’t comment on the gym or other facilities as I do not use them, however with any facility places are judged on their service, the service I and my group have experienced I wouldn’t recommend new members.

Negative experience: I’d give this place a miss! Use it for a free trial if thinking of joining, lots of weight plates damaged with sharp edges, it’s visible they have cleaners in the gym yet it’s the changing rooms that are dirty and messy, the main gym smells and a lot of the equipment breaking and on its way out! This gym prices itself at luxury health club when it’s far from it, if after a luxury health club do your research and you will find a 5 star one not so far away…

Negative experience: Im a memba at this place were would you want me to start. The gym is decent not that bad be better if there was actually blue rule in the holders so could actually clean machines before and after usage. Apart from that gym is sound but the pool and the mens changing facilities is awful mens changing rooms its a game of wich lockers do and dont work the floor is filthy to say the least the drains constantly stink. The floorin is fallin apart soap dispensers are missing. There was a stage of nonsoap for a week for the people who didntbring there own. Out door pool is ok could clean it once in a while round the edges as black mold is round it. The sauna and hot tib are awfull a quick rinse down is not clean needs to be steamed once a week atleast its liquid fat all over the floors nastyness inbetween the wood in the sauna after my visit last week i did 40 minutes in the sauna then to get a infection in my leg which left me bed bound and unable to walk im still Not perfect naw but doc has give me clear to go gym just no standing or cardia wich is awfull. Plus no sauna for me So ive bin left unable to do day tonday activites for 10 days and still goin hopefully few more days ill be ok im on 4000mg of antibiotics (4000)mg .

Fantastic experience: Things have improved recently! Happy to say after a couple of issues with machines and AC, things are looking very good! Very pleased with the personal trainer as well! The staff is amazing. Recent add-on - that new water machine is AMAZING!

Negative experience: Absolute joke of a place, been trying to contact the club to get information on facilities and after several calls, emails and messages, still no reply. Cancelled membership and have to give 3 months notice even though there facilities, that I use, are broken. In the 12 months I’ve been a member I don’t think there has been a single week where everything has been working. I would definitely recommend looking for a different gym because there are far better ones for the price or cheaper

Negative experience: Absolutely shocking place. Taken me nearly 6 months to cancel my membership and they’re still trying to chase me for money which I don’t owe. Told to use the app to cancel which doesn’t work and the staff are no help at all. Took 2 months to get it to work so I could cancel then I had my 3 months notice on top of that. The gym itself is mediocre at best. Equipment always broken for weeks on end. Changing rooms aren’t that clean. Ceiling leaks inside gym leaving mold growing in places. All for £60 a month. Ridiculous.

Negative experience: report the village gym blackpool for not being safe and very dirty . Water drips through ceiling in the gym . Place is so dirty it's ridiculous. There Cracks everywhere. Rust in lockers which ruins clothes. Matter of times things are breaking down and there making a funny smell . It's a great concern and worrying . As its been reported to the management over n over and nothing is changing. Sauna is disgusting and outdoor pool is ridiculous dirty . Need sandals to walk through as barefoot not safe . Membership gone up n up for what . Place is filthy and a hazard . So many people reporting and complaining but nothing getting done . I now reported it to environmental health, blackpool council and hse .

Fantastic experience: Really enjoying Box blast with the brilliant Michelle! She really knows what she is doing, is extremely encouraging and fun. I am finally getting really fit.

Fantastic experience: Visiting Blackpool to run the half marathon yesterday. Sore today and felt like an outdoor swim would help. Google search found this location has an outdoor pool. Spoke to Amber who arranged a free pass to swim as that was all I wanted to do. A day pass for all facilities is £21. I was offered the loan of a towel too. Place was really clean. It wasn't a hot day but the heated pool was quiet and perfect in the spring sunshine. Changing facilities looked fresh. Good showers, easy to use lockers ( no coins needed), hairdryers and costume spin dryer. There's a Starbucks coffee on site and parking is free for up to 6 hours. Some lovely grounds to walk around and an adjoining hotel. Didn't use hotel or Starbucks so can't expand on them. Everyone at the gym was friendly and helpful, staff and visitors alike. Thank you so much.

Fantastic experience: Have just joined recently as part of a Men's training group. Nathan, one of the PTs, gave me a tour of the gym and the facilities and have to say was very impressed. Nothing was too much trouble and he was extremely helpful. 4 weeks in and it is superb. Workout followed by a swim, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room and finally a shower to finish off. Have also had food and drink in the Pub and Grill which was also excellent. Absolutely delighted with the setup and facilities

Fantastic experience: Moved to the Village Gym in Blackpool from another gym that became too expensive for what was being provided. The sales team were brilliant at the beginning giving me the best available deal. The coach who did my assessment listened to what I was currently doing and what my goals were and gave me great advice and a pin point training schedule. This was immediately downloaded to my Village App and I was really impressed that each exercise has a video of how to execute with the right form. The icing on the cake though is the Spa facilities and 2x 25m pools and squash courts. Been here a few weeks now and done some burn classes etc. which were very intense and just what I was looking for. Really enjoying it and highly recommend if you’re looking for an all round gym that is real value for money

Fantastic experience: Giving a 5 star review just for three staff members who are absolutely brilliant. Few other staff good but these three go out there way every time. They need a bonus or some recognition for there efforts. Olly ,Ben and receptionist Anna. Honestly they make that company. Can ask any member of gym . Things need updating, like pool and sauna needs a clean badly . However can see things are starting to get better . 5 star is because of them staff members or it probably be 3 stars .

Negative experience: Changing rooms are dirty and not enough lockers so you have to carry your bag around with you. Jacuzzi and one sauna been broken all the month I’ve been going. Reported sick all over a toilet cubicle and it was still there 2 hours later when I left. Gym equipment good.

Negative experience: Facilities gone down hill rapidly. Place is in chaos. If only there was am option for zero stars. Some of the best instructors in Blackpool spoilt by a company who don't care

Negative experience: Jacuzzi is never open, 1 of the Sauna’s has been broke for some time. Generally dirty changing rooms. The manager told us we could cancel without having to serve a 3 month cancellation after making a complaint and now she no longer works there leaving us with 3 months cancellation period! Company CEO just ignores emails. My advice…. Ignore whatever they reply with below as it will be the same rubbish they told me on the phone. Join a gym somewhere else!

Negative experience: The water In the pool is cold , most of the time I've been there the jacuzzi & steam room is closed not really worth for a day pass.

Fantastic experience: This place is getting better and better, staff regularly cleaning showers and changing rooms. Nice relaxing piped music in changing rooms. Could do.with more or even one gym room staff on hand to answer any questions about how to use the equipment in the gym. Wellbeing checks for gym members which help keep you on track. Good job

Positive experience: We stayed in the hotel while visiting a friend for her birthday one weekend. Good location and easy enough to get to. It’s a very popular venue, so be mindful of the amount of footfall and traffic, it’s also next to a zoo (you can hear the animals) and has a golf course. It’s reasonably priced, the staff are friendly and helpful but the rooms are dated (having stayed in on in Leeds you notice the difference). The gym was great the next morning, including the pool facilities, Sauna, stream room and jacuzzi. One thing they can improve on here is the lifeguard equipment, including the position. They had one lifeguard sat on a plastic chair, in between the indoor and outdoor pool (with the door open). They were also on their phone most of the time too! Breakfast was below average, very chaotic and hard to get a full plate from the buffet as they were always out of something. Final comment is on the car park, it’s very large, but you have to pay during the weekdays and it’s free at the weekend - which isn’t explained until you get there. Remember, you get what you pay for!

Positive experience: Went to join up and was dealt with by Nathan. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the various offers. What a lovely charming man clearly passionate about the job. Used the well equipped gym and had a swim the lovely warm pool .

Negative experience: Fantastic outdoor pool and brand new gym equipment blighted by lack of cleanliness. The male changing rooms smell horrendously due to ongoing drainage issues. air ducts etc are missing covers and full of dust. I raised concerns today to be told a refurb is due in November but they are hoping to do sooner. Not sure I can carry on till then especially as aircon doesn't always seem to be on and it's 24c today

Fantastic experience: Lovely, clean (mostly)... pity they only have the saunaruim running as a sauna at the moment. Apart from that, and the tough saunaruim door (been like that for ever) it's fab. Outdoor pool is my main draw - lovely and warm ... Except a little cooler on my last visit

Fantastic experience: Love the gym and swim, it's a beautiful atmosphere in the pool and really warm water, there is also an outdoor pool, there is a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, there are lifeguards, they do lots of different classes, the gym is up to the minute with all its training equipment. The staff are very welcoming, you have to be a member to use it but a member can take a friend but they have to pay for a day pass

Fantastic experience: Went swimming this morning toilet in changing room out of use for over a week Also toilet in corridor missing handle the one near gym.

Negative experience: I'm a member here and everytime I go I convince myself I'm going to leave because of the cleanliness or lack of. The mens changing rooms smell like a sewer and I'm pretty confident they don't have any proper cleaning regime. This place has gone massively downhill in the last few years. 3 customer feedback surveys completed all saying about the poor cleanliness but nothing is ever done.

Negative experience: I can't remember the last time I went to the swimming pool and everything was working 1 - jacuzzi spa currently broken agai 2 - steam room only works when individuals squirt cold water into sensor. 3 - Showers next to pool 3 are broken. 2 are working but damaged can't alter temp. Hotel guests probably think these issues are one offs but as a regular member its not to the standard you would expect.

Negative experience: Hard to be be impressed recently.. should get a discounted rate for the last 2..3 months when so much isnt working right and constant complaining hasn't improved anything. Kind of annoyed with this now and thinking cancelling my membership after 2 and half years. Today.. it was the male changing rooms. Expected to carry all my staff with me in to gym or just leave it unsafe.. c'mon.. Update 5.4.22. Again changing rooms not open, jacuzzi out of action, steam room barely steaming.and staff have had enough of hearing complaints. Still waiting for that phone call you mentioned by the way.

Positive experience: I go here once a week due to business. Gym is good . Steam room can be improved . Swimming pool is full of kids so hard to have a good un interrupted swim however I'm content enough to return every week as I have options to virtually go to any gym in Blackpool.

Fantastic experience: Great outdoor and indoor pools, with a clean, modern gym with loads of equipment and machines available. The staff we dealt with were very friendly and super helpful. And I'm not even a true member of the gym either. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for great facilities with loads of parking and a handy Starbucks for a cheeky brew on the way out.

Fantastic experience: I visited village for an afternoon with a friend and although the drinks in this place were slightly overpriced the facilities more than made up for it. Having a bottle of bubbly or 2 then using the hot tub and steam room was delightful.

Negative experience: I had been a member since it opened about 25 years ago. Through Covid I stopped and renewed in September. I am a Squash player. Had I known how bad the courts now are and continue to be I would not have rejoined. Of the 3 courts. One has been out of action for months (unusable due to some form of leak in the roof), the other glass back has at least 3 lights out and the front wall is terrible causing irratic bounces. So they have 1 court actually operational, although rarely cleaned. The club needs some investment desperately in the Squash or they should shut the Squash section down. Whilst I appreciate it will have been a difficult time through Covid, the membership is expensive and the overall leisure club I would say has definitely deteriorated significantly in recent months. Particularly the Squash. Shame because it used to be a great club, with coaches, squash teams and an active Squash ladder with juniors coming through. I have complained a number of times to staff who are aware and helpful but to be fair they can't fix the investment issue. Update 14-02-2022: Thanks for your response albeit 2 months after I left it. I will await the updates to the Squash courts and if fixed advise accordingly and review the review once more in a more positive manner.

Fantastic experience: I stayed here with my hubby and two daughters and we had a lovely time. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The outside pool was the cherry on the cake as it was warm and empty, we were on our own in the pool as the other guests stayed inside so that made it even better. We had a family room which was huge. There was no noise during the nights or early mornings which was fab as I'm a light sleeper. Breakfast was excellent, full english, cereal, fruit, croissants, juice, coffee etc, we had it all and it set us up for the day. Overall I'm very happy with our little break away.

Negative experience: Nice pool but changing rooms in desperate need of a revamp. Cold, scruffy, lights not working, smelly, soap dispensers in showers broken .have been to Coventry Village, superb !!! Why has Blackpool been left in such a state. Disgusting.

Positive experience: An ideal meeting/host point for any occasion. Hundreds of parking spaces with a nice bistro, Starbucks and a leisure centre which boasts a heated indoor and outdoor pool. They also have a spa with a multitude of treatments available if you're there for a relaxed weekend or need to unwind after work.

Negative experience: Bad customer service on phone. Last year I had to cancel, verbally at Blackpool desk, for health reasons and covid. Today I wanted to reinstate but staff member trying to tell me I owe £470 arrears when no communication sent to me at all regarding this. Disgusting!!

Negative experience: Not hotel fault possibly but your Starbucks franchise was poor today and not for first time. Staff perfectly good but you have no stock, not just a few items but half your drinks not available and food like a North Korean supermarket lights on but nothing on shelves.

Negative experience: I'm a member not fully happy the Internet is shocking using your app with machines hardly works staff have no clue how to fix issues and the showers in the gym need cleaning thick with jelly like substance from all different shower gels so on concider you pay that bit more for class and a nicer environment stick to the gym in town cheaper and cleaner.

Negative experience: Personally wouldnt recommend this gym to anyone, they make things extremely difficult to do anything, Lost my part time job due to COVID-19 and tried to explain this to their membership team saying due to these reasons I cant afford to pay for the membership, they start demanding you pay fees to cancel contract which is 50% of the remaining fees? If i cant afford to pay the membership how do they expect you to pay 50% of the contract?!!!! Poor service and poor business management, you would think during these times they would show some compassion and understanding during these times!!!!!

Negative experience: At the minute this gym is the worst gym out there. Try to book the pool u cant cos they never answer the phone . Paying for a membership and u dont get any of the facilities u signed up for due to covid . Not fair u can not charge people still during a pandemic when ur not sticking to the contract and membership terms that were agreed at the start. When u try to ring them they either cant help u or they dont answer the phone.

Fantastic experience: I like this gym. Very tidy, great range of machines and space to do stretching. The complex also has a spa, a swimming pool, squash courts and a golf course.
