Fantastic experience: Started using the gym and pool. The staff are so so helpful and take their time to discuss different activities and what is best for you. It’s really spacious and a great place to work out. Even at 6.30am it’s just as enjoyable.
Fantastic experience: Went swimming there for the first time, a lot fewer people to collide during a swim. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Negative experience: Air conditioning has been broken over 2 months now. No sign of it ever being fixed and staff don’t even think it will be. So unpleasant in there I do not recommend joining. They don’t even have any fans just a fire exit door open as apparently that’s air circulating… shocking with what they charge for our memberships. Look at other gyms if you are looking for somewhere you can feel comfortable.
Hi Claire - the air conditioning is being replaced and we are currently awaiting supplier availability but this will be completed asap. We have had contractors looking at the issue since the first day that it broke down. Please let the team know if you need anything at else at all from us.

Negative experience: GET THE AIRCON FIXED!!!!!!! surely this is a health and safety matter!! Gym has seriously gone downhill considering its had a takeover! 2 month on....... still no aircon! Machines in state of disrepair, seriously poor maintenance and the showers!?!?!? What the hell choices?? That is disgusting! Mould everywhere, extractor not working and it stinks! Wth is going on? Someone is going to get seriously ill and hurt, sort it out!!!!
Hi K - the air conditioner contractor attended site last week, as soon as a problem was reported, and we are now awaiting a new compressor for the unit. As soon as the part arrives it will be fitted.
Positive experience: Gutted the price has gone up when fascilities are in bad condition. I'll still go as a swim and sauna does me good but the condition of everything needs a good improvement. Staff are very lovely and friendly :)

Positive experience: Been a member now for at least 10+years and I have to say I have loved my time at this gym, however the last four years the place has really gone downhill and its disappointing the gym is very tired, the pool is in need of desperate repair and the spin bikes don't even get me started as they are in need of replacing. The changing rooms are always wet from kids swim school, the locker doors are falling off and the showers just leak, I remember warm changing rooms all clean including the showers hairdryers were all working and we even had hand cream supplied. What keeps me going are certain staff members which make you feel happy when you have been at work all day and we have a laugh even when things are not so great, Jill, Sally-Ann & Hari I have friends at this gym and that means so much as well. The way that some members have been treated though is not what I would call very professional so that has been rather upsetting and I hope going forward this does change as it certainly needs too.
Positive experience: Well I was member when it was Ocean,and it was already quite expensive but now 43,99 it's too much especially when you go to a website it says start at 29.99 and then when you go further it shows 29.99 is a joining fee and the actual price is 43. Misleading. I liked that place and I get it everything goes up and instructors have to live from something but it is too expensive in my opinion.
Fantastic experience: My son attends swimming classes there, clean everytime we go, also the swimming area is nice and warm. Very happy
Negative experience: Wide range of facilities including pool,sauna and classes but the steam room hasn’t worked since I joined a few months ago and all the weighted equipment is old and worn out. For the added price compared to other gyms I believe all facilities should be working and up to date

Positive experience: Im am writing this report to inform that there is no hot water in the showers! weren’t working for 2 days straight now, there is only showers that are broken or ice cold showers. Fix it!
Fantastic experience: Great gym club. It is absolutely worth the extra money. Loads of cardio machines, so you never have to wait for a machine even at busy times. Excellent and trustworthy staff, who treat members with respect. A great place for those who are just starting out or who are a little shy or nervous of the gym. Great pool and sauna.
Negative experience: The worst gym, expensive now for the facilities I have cancelled and confirmed last payment date given my 30 days notice and they still take the payment when you contact them all they have to say it oh this is nothing to do with us! All they care about it taking your money and over charging
Positive experience: Lovely staff Harry and Sally Ann.facilities need a lot of maintenance.i am taking a break as I did not feel I was getting value for money and felt a little neglected as a full time member I couldn't see the benefit of paying more than new member's. Will definitely go back after a break.

Negative experience: Me and my brother had a membership at oceans and it ran out just before covid. It used to be ok back then but now it's a shell of its self, and way to expensive. I would never return there. I go to anytime fitness and it's soooo much better

There has been no hot water in shower, the water temperature very cold in swimming pool, the sauna broken and is in critical condition. Also unprofessional, and absolutely not helpful staff.

Negative experience: I have been a member at Oceans for around four years, but the levels of maintenance are now so poor, despite having one of the more expensive membership rates in the town, that I am looking elsewhere. There has been no hot water in the showers for the best part of a month (December 2021), the equipment in the gym is past its best, and it is all looking very tired. The staff are friendly is about the best that can be said about the gym at present.
Positive experience: Love this place but it definitely needs more seating in the ladies changing room
Negative experience: This business is incredibly poor and are hiding behind a company with a 1* trust pilot and 1* Google review. Harlands currently charged me in July £25 for a late payment the payment was 4 hours late to the same day. I came into branch to complain about this to be told nothing to do with oceans. I stated that I will no longer use their business and my membership runs out on October 31st last payment and in Nov it ends. I confirmed this with the manager and with Emily whom was present. No today Harlands are taking another payment . I have called oceans who have said unless I email them with 30 days notice or have filled out a form in branch I cannot cancel. My membership apparently rolls over. I have not used your facilities in over 2 months I confirmed an end date of this serviceat no point was I told about this 30 days notice which by the way I was not at liberty to give over 2 months ago. When the conversation in question took place. This is just disgusting I was a happy customer who was happy ith your service until you started to hide and lie to get one month extra disgusted.

Negative experience: Some people seem to forget that we are STILL in a pandemic - no masks indoors, large groups chatting (almost shouting...) close together, right next to a staff member on reception who seems to have no idea. Yes they have sanitiser around the gym, but the virus is caught through airborne more than surface contact. Too complacent, not looking forward to next week.
Positive experience: Just signed up, fairly decent weights room, good numer of cardio machines, looking forward to tieing myself up in knots on the trx kit

Negative experience: If I could give no stars I would.... how rude are you "Linda tyrrell" ?? I think this lady needs to correct her training as a colleague of this health club.... her attitude and rudeness was very apparent and I would avoid this place its not the star rating it has.... its very much below the star rating!

Positive experience: I've been a member at Oceans since it opened 8-10yrs ago now. I have always enjoyed the facilities especially the pool & the staff & personal trainers are very pleasant& knowledgeable. However, during this past year and quite possibly it is because of financial strains due to pandemic closures but the pool is starting to look a little neglected - many tiles are missing from the floor, covers of the small vents have not been replaced & the tiles surrounding the pool are not being cleaned on a regular basis. It's a shame as the maintenance has always been excellent in past years. These repairs need to be addressed immediately or members may look elsewhere.

Positive experience: Just started at this gym. Guidelines are followed by staff and clients. Mask's to be worn in the foyer and changing rooms. Equipment spaced out. Found Reception staff very informative regarding membership. You have to download an app to be able to book in and book places for their classes. But at the moment can't use the app as it won't let me log in, so I have yet to sort out. Although they did say that a few people have been having the same issues. Will investigate when I next attend.
Negative experience: Seems to cater now for more for families ( swim times extended ) Dirty pool and dirty changing rooms. When kids are in changing room virtually underwater !! Lovely staff. Gym OK. Nothing much new there for a long while. Means to an end

Positive experience: Nice people that work there
Negative experience: This place has gone down considerably. Despite being a member for 23 years (Previous Abbey Court before moving) without any notice, the membership has increased by an extra £105 PA. The locker rooms are dirty, the booking system for classes is appalling and some of the reception staff are poorly trained and not interested in older members! I'm joining elsewhere and so will my wife...that's £550 lost revenue to Oceans, but I suspect that wouldn't matter to them!
Fantastic experience: After seeing a free day pass advertised I decided I had to give it ago! And wow I am so happy I did. The lovely lady on reception booked me in with a instructor to be shown the gym, he took me on all the equipment and made sure I was ok! After a short workout in the gym I went and made the most of the free day pass by finishing off with a swim, sauna and steam. From start to finish I was made to feel so welcome, the facilities are brilliant and I am now a regular and love the classes. Jill’s pump is fantastic she is amazing. All the staff are so helpful I can not recommend Oceans enough.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to oceans for a year now and the staff are very friendly, polite and really helpful, it's a very clean gym and they have class to suit everyone.. their newest class boogie bounce is amazing, fun but at the same time working out hard.. I can safely say with the help of oceans Iam the fittest and healthiest I have even been well recommended.

Positive experience: Overall if you're a beginner or someone looking for just fitness the gym is not bad. However if you are someone who is much more advanced then the gym simply does not have enough equipment to deal with your demands. Pool is a bit shallow, but sauna and steam room is nice. Equipment is not bad, however it is not the newest equipment either. Overall for the casual user a not bad solution
Fantastic experience: Oceans is just great!. A gym full of up to date equipment. Excellent swimming pool (which also has great slots for family swims and children's swimming lessons) Friendly provisional staff and a lovely atmosphere. Classes are well attended and suitable for a wide range of levels. The kids club is fantastic. Lovely to have a smoothie or coffee afterwards too of course! There is none of the pretentiousness of some gyms - everyone is made to feel really welcome no matter what you ability is. Highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Staff are friendly. Pool is lovely, albeit busy at times. The shower and change room facilities are decent and clean, although can be a little hectic between 5:30-6:30 pm so I tend to go a little later in the evening or silly o'clock in the morning to avoid this problem. I don't, or very rarely, use the main gym as I mainly swim and attend yoga classes (booking essential!) which are very well run by Helen!
Fantastic experience: I have been a gym user for many years but only recently joined Oceans. why did i wait so long! From the moment you walk in you are greeted by the friendly receptionist staff and this sets the tone. Nothing is too much trouble, the gym staff are all knowledgeable and the equipment is all excellent. The pool facilities are brilliant and the family swim sessions are an added bonus for our young children. In short, Oceans is a friendly, clean, well run health club with great kit and they do great coffee and smoothies too.
Fantastic experience: I joined Oceans nearly 2 months ago now. I had put off joining a health club for so long, Im middle aged and a bit overweight and felt very self concious. The facilites at Oceans are great, but far importantly I found the staff, receptionists and gym instructors to be so friendly and helpful. I already feel a lot better about myself and Im very pleased that I made the decision to join. Lisa and Alicia are great on reception and Jason has been my instructor since I joined and has really helpful. I definately recommend Oceans..
Negative experience: I am in the Grantham area for two weeks, and wanted to stay in shape at a local gym. I asked if there was any way to get a short-term membership. Of course I would be willing to pay more, but I am not going to sign a 6-month contract just to train for half of a month. The associate at the counter dismissed me off-hand, and did not even offer to look in to getting an exception from a manager or owner. Why would they not want to take my money (maybe a month's worth for 2 weeks?) for 2 people in this economy? I even told them I lived in America, so I wasn't trying to swindle them. I guess there is just a major difference between how business is conducted in the US verses the UK.
