Welcome to PureGym London Waterloo, a fantastic fitness hub located beneath the beautiful railway arches of Waterloo East Station. This gym is known for its spacious layout and modern facilities, making it a popular choice among fitness enthusiasts.
Our members appreciate the excellent selection of equipment available, which caters to various fitness needs, ensuring that everyone can find their ideal workout gear. Moreover, our clean and friendly environment makes for a pleasant workout experience.

Negative experience: The gym itself is fine BUT the shower Temperature isn't warm enough it was lowered in May last year to Reduce the gyms Carbon footprint and obviously save money the shower area needs replacing as well but the cleaner does a good job keeping area clean the lockers are clapped out need replacing some doors are broken but again area clean the Equipment is fine in the Gym but the Gym itself is freezing not a comfortable Temperature at all and near the door area it's not much warmer inside to outside cold air blowing down on you when your doing cardio apart from being a waste of energy wrap up if you use this gym it's. Just TOO COLD it can't be healthy either
Hi Paul, thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We have recently made slight changes to this area, looking at improving energy efficiency. This is both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. Our showers are now set at a temperature of 36C and have a flow rate of 5 litres per minute. These parameters are regularly monitored and we also have regular checks carried out on boilers and associated equipment to ensure the units are operating as they should be across all of our gyms. On occasion, we can get faults on our water system which is normal. When this happens, there is a process in place to ensure we arrange for our contractors to attend, investigate, and resolve the faults and return the systems back to full working order within a timely manner. If you believe there may be an issue, please speak to a member of the gym team who will be able to assist further. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities and all feedback is taken into account when making any future changes. Negative experience: This gym has a fantastic selection of equipment, but it's unfortunately let down by a few significant issues. Firstly, the gym is consistently very cold, which makes it uncomfortable and less than ideal for effective workouts. Secondly, the cleanliness of the men's locker room is a serious concern. It's frequently unclean, and I've encountered people sleeping in the toilet cubicles and others treating the locker room as their personal workspace. To address this, I suggest the gym management implement a more secure access system for the men's locker room, removing the ability to wedge the locker room door open, especially during off-peak hours. This would prevent unauthorised access and ensure the space remains reserved for actual gym users. It's disappointing to witness the declining standards of this gym. With some improvements to cleanliness, temperature, and locker room security, it has the potential to be a much better facility.

We have recently made slight changes to this area, looking at improving energy efficiency. This is both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. By law, we have a requirement to provide a certain amount of fresh air based on occupancy levels, and our ventilation system increases and decreases at different times throughout the day and night, making sure we meet these requirements and provide good air movement around the gyms. These levels are based on size of the gym, and occupancy levels, and are regularly monitored. PureGym prides itself on being able to offer state of the art fitness facilities to our members in a safe and welcoming environment. We developed industry-leading cleaning and hygiene protocols, including the introduction of cleaning stations, to help keep our members and employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with the reduced risk and in line with the Government’s ending of legal restrictions, we have decided to remove self-cleaning stations in our gyms, which will also support our sustainability objectives by reducing our paper towel waste. We’re proud to say that many of the protocols implemented during lockdown, such as frequent and regular cleaning, and improvements to our air ventilation systems, will continue to be a core part of our TrainSafe Commitment. Fantastic experience: It is one of the nicest gyms I've been to despite its low price. Beautiful arches with huge windows, AC in the summer and always clean. Huge gym with lots of equipment, almost never have to wait for anything even at peak times. Better equipment and nicer layout than many more expensive London gyms (e.g. Nuffield, Fitness First, etc), which often have no windows and are quite tight on space. And excellent location!

Positive experience: This was my first visit to the Waterloo PureGym. it was very busy and despite it being daytime seemed very dark. As I was in a hurry I didn't get my full quota of sets completed as there were too many "phone starers" daydreaming on the equipment. Overall, it is a working gym but as is in such a busy working area it's not the most fun environment to train in.

Negative experience: Lots of out of order equipment Dirty equipment Lack of sanitizer sprays, always empty, need to go round to look for one or when ask the manager they say they are only covering but actually sitting in the office scroling through the phone Sanitary bins full Sewage smell Very noisy bike by drinks machine which 2 guys broke actually Studios often occupied by people dancing so no space for others for mat work A lot of weight equipment used by males so feel intimidated, there should be an area designated for weights female only

Fantastic experience: The customer service was brilliant, went in for a day as I had a job down waterloo and lovely chap who is personal trainer Zee went that extra mile for not just myself but for the rest of the members in the gym. The monthly price is a bit more than the usual pure gym but it is low key and not that many people come in after work. If you work at waterloo regularly I would recommend.

Positive experience: Great gym, lots of equipment and open space. The letdown are the showers.. I went last night and have gone down with a cold. They are freezing!. I was shivering in them, and the powerful extraction doesn't help either. They used to be lovely and warm a few years back.

Positive experience: Big large gym, lots of equipment and was relatively quiet (Sunday morning). The gym is well stocked, lots of cardio and nice to have a large amount of spin bikes. Negatives- some of the equipment had seen better days, the changing rooms need some TLC, showered are mouldy, lockers dirty....

Positive experience: Personally my least favourite because the gym feels a bit stuffy and dingy plus not that much equipment. It’s quite close to central so worth it if you’re on a bit of a time crunch. Definitely better pure gyms around

Fantastic experience: Best puregym I've visited so far The building itself set within a railway arch forces it to be a light and airy space Decent amount of varied equipment set up in a a logical way for people who lift as opposed to some of the mish mashed mix ups you find at sites that were previously LA Fitness Great sized studios and very clean changing facilities Will be back again for sure

Negative experience: Pure gym is completely fraud, I bought 3 months subscription, they neither renewed mine or refunded. Although I emailed themseveral times. NEVER USE PURE GYM. They do not have direct contact or phone number, I called it just said email adress and they do not respond emails. It is completely fraud. I am still waiting for response and if they do not, I will apply to UK court and use my rights

Positive experience: Nice gym, natural light and clean/modern. I popped in before work this morning and had lots of free space, but there aren't many free weights. There are plenty of machines spread out through the tunnels (it's in a railway arch). Very close to the tube. Sign up on the changing room door says they cut locks off if left while not in the gym (using it as storage), so it seems like the issue of lack of lockers some other reviewers mentioned is solved

Positive experience: Great gym, all the equipment is in good shape, although it can get very busy before work, but what gym doesn't? All the staff are friendly and helpful, but there's one thing that would transform this gym, and make it stellar. And that's ired lockers. There are always lockers available, as there are so many of them, so surely some could be set aside for hire? Guys do leave their stuff in the lockers anyway, despite the signs for 'locker breaks', so maybe one way to reduce this would be to have lockers for hire. They do in the Piccadilly Circus branch. So please, give this some serious thought!

Positive experience: popped into here for a quick session while in the city. was pretty good for a pure gym, structure of the gym is cool. relatively clean and wasn’t too busy when i went during lunch time on a week day.

Negative experience: Overcharged me and made me pay normal amount + joining fee £58.99 when I applied a 50% + no JF promotion! Customer service did not compensate me nor did they refund me the overcharged amount.

Negative experience: Equipment selection is great, space is good, the Manager is friendly but the PTs are a joke. The only PT that expressed some actual knowledge was Elvis out of all the PTs for the last 12 years, and he’s a Master Trainer, the rest just seem average, Ali just looks like a penguin. And please fix the shower issue! Been coming here for over 12 years only because it’s convenient for me!!

Positive experience: A good spot that is never really crowded in the morning when I go and generally pretty clean BUT taking two stars away because the showers in the men’s changing room are rubbish - they just dribble water and have not been updated since this was Soho Gyms, which was, what, 5 years ago now? It would be such a simple fix to change the shower heads or even just take them off one by one and give them as good clean and scrubbing but it seems no one can be bothered. Just posting in the hope someone there reads this.

Negative experience: Here's the honest review. This gym has so much potential! The space is great and equipment is decent. That said, half of the gym literally smells like rotten cabbage. It's disgusting, specially when you're exercising and want to be able to take deep breaths! The other major problem is it's February and the gym is literally freezing. Apparently they can't afford to heat it so be ready to shiver in the main area and specially in the ice cold locker room. Finally my last gripe is that the changing rooms close at midnight which, considering its a 24hr gym is incredibly annoying and frustrating. Come on guys, you're so close to getting it right. Just sort out these major issues and make this a welcoming and lovely space to train!

Positive experience: Pros: Good ambience, location, temperature (main gym area) and layout, reasonably clean, friendly people, Haven’t tried studios or classes yet. Cons: Ladies change rooms absolutely freezing, like showering in a fridge, showers only stay on for 10-20 seconds (am all for water conservation but at least give us a few minutes), Treadmills take forever to fire up (can suddenly switch off mid work-out), no TVs in cardio area and the TV screen functionality doesn’t work on any of the treadmills.

Fantastic experience: A very nice gym. Big spread out layout, all the equipment you need and even a turf area! Its a bit expensive but i think you get what you pay for.

Positive experience: Not enough machines, for example there is only one lat pull down machine, no decline bench press. There are about 20 running machines which are not needed, this space could be occupied with better equipment.

Positive experience: I like the concept of a reasonably priced gym. I wish the pricing was simpler and more straight forward. The pricing is different for different gyms and hence if you are a member of one you can't go to any other which is more expensive than the one you are a member of. Also the facilities are different at different places. I wish they will price them all in a way that is a bit more straight forward.

Positive experience: This is your usual puregym (although at a higher price). They are once again open around the clock and the choice of equipment is good. The highlight is the location (unless the sound of trains overhead bothers you) in the train way arches. Good place to work out, but if you injure yourself, there will be noone there to help in the late evening hours or very early morning.

Fantastic experience: Amazing place, but I think the gym and people who train here would really benefit from a boxing bag been to some of "the gyms" and they have punching bag's which is a really good exercise if you are looking to burn more calories (especially if you don't like running).

Positive experience: Very nice location. Never over busy. Pay and display parking in local roads. Gym is walking distance from Waterloo Station. Bright and airy overall, well ventilated, ceiling to floor windows overseeing local street. Good for the ego! Only downside is that the mens shower area has a very over powering sulphur smell, which I know is a result to faulty ventilation to waste water, not implying sewage, that's completely different. In addition to the smell showers have very poor water pressure and the shower curtains have mould. Forgot to take photos. Will try add after posting. Other than that good place to work out.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym with a great asthetic interior design. You wont find a machine you're not looking for in this gym, as they have everything you would need and more. On the other hand, freeweights and plated / deadlift areas are limited and quite small compared to the other options the gym offers.

Positive experience: Nice and local, but the weight machine selection is underwhelming. Theres a huge studio which is hardly ever full and 2 free weights areas. Maybe change one of them and include more weights machines.

Positive experience: Recently joined PUREGYM and have multi-gym access. This probably ranks as my favourite gym to work out in London. It’s got a great selection of resistance machines, weights and workout spaces, other members are helpful and friendly :) The ONLY suggestion I would make is if they refurbished the showers in future to the same standard as the Fulham puregym (separate shower base with drain, light and enclosed doors). Other than that, this gym has a great vibe and is my fave!

Fantastic experience: Pretty well equipped gym, busy but not to the brim

Our gyms can become busy especially at peak times, but this does fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day. To make the most of the space where possible, though, we are always looking to expand and improve our facilities. Positive experience: This is the best gym I've ever been to, if only it were open. Closed at weekends and now closed for the entire Christmas - New Year period. Was told that since there are fewer customers since Covid it's not cost-effective to pay the staff to be there at the weekend, but somehow still cost-effective to be open at 3am during the week. Just feels like an excuse. Other than that great equipment, great staff, and one of the only gyms where the lighting and music is just right and doesn't feel like you're at some kind of office rave.

Fantastic experience: The best of all the Puregym branches I've been to. Helpful and friendly staff, good equipment, always clean, natural light and .. that gothic vibe (from the architecture of the building).
Positive experience: Great gym and location but sadly this has been closed on weekends for months. There’s no communication on why and when it will be reopened. It’s a 24h gym! Please sort it out.

Positive experience: Not having the Waterloo gym open on a Saturday and Sunday, but open 24 hours during the week? I have also found the staff to be unapproachable a couple of times. Besides that, good equipment and lovely venue

Fantastic experience: Located underneath train tracks, I thought this would be a problem with noise and vibration. But training with head phones in your ears, you can’t hear any trains going over. The gym is an absolute beaut… very well build, very good use of space and very good selection of equipment. The exposed brickwork makes it feel like you walked into a fancy estate agent! Very clean everywhere with plenty cleaning stations. Changing rooms are very spacious too and got large mirrors everywhere to see your gains! I loved every bit of the gym, and also raring there as it was quiet when I went.

Negative experience: We had the worst experience ever! So the story starts like this. The lockdown was lifted in April and we already had an account puregym with our base gym as London Lambeth. We requested for a change to the one in Waterloo as it was more convenient for us. Firstly, they do not have any call operators to attend to neither do they reply to the emails promptly. My husband asked for a muti access gym membership and the wait between the communications via email took so long as they took ages to reply every single time. My partner was even denied access to the gym rather than sorting out the matter when he was there at the gym where it could have been done way more conveniently. Then we were told via email that the matter was sorted and apparently we will get charged again for the new gym from the 12th of May. On the 12th of May what really happened was that our membership got cancelled. This was so upsetting to us having to pull through all this hurdles of communication with the unprofessional staff . We emailed them again curious to hear back from them again on the reason for the cancellation. No replies at all. The worst service ever I should say and very unprofessional way of dealing customers. Never again.

Fantastic experience: My favourite PureGym. Absolutely beauty. Not sure if it's recently been renovated since reopening post Covid but it's perfect. The lighting and carefully considered space makes it very atmospheric. It's got a good combination of open spaces but also private areas if you don't want to be in the spotlight. Huge choice of equipment, with so much space it's almost like a little gym oasis. Love, love, love it.
Positive experience: Came across this gym as the gyms round London are particularly quiet during COVID times and my local pure gym is just constantly busy and queues almost for the benches. Arrived at the gym for the first time and immediately felt lost, couldn't find the changing rooms (eventually did), couldn't find the dumbbells section (eventually did) and only one water fountain in the entire gym (if someone else can point me out to more?) Apart from that, the gym itself is very nice, love the brick/wall decor, the football astro turf (I think that's what it is) in the centre with kettlebells and you can hear the train running over the top (directly under the Waterloo East station) - defo feels like an after-work/lunchtime workout spot. If you're looking to get some decent time in the gym as in a more free and less busy gym - then check out Pure Gym in Waterloo.
Negative experience: work out in groups and no one wears masks - unsafe Pure Gym Waterloo. There is a big sign at the door that says "wear a mask". People get in with a mask and then take it off for the whole workout: toilets, changing rooms, while chatting to others. Also, people worked out in groups of 3 at the same machine next to me. Member of staff would say nothing. I posted this review on their site first and their comment is that this review includes information that cannot be share with public. Really? The fact is a negative review, maybe?

However, members should not be training in a group currently and this information has been passed on to the Waterloo gym to ensure that they're enforcing those rules.
