Hutton Moor Leisure Centre

Fantastic experience: Went to meet up with friends for a dog show. Unfortunately the hall was freezing cold but just one of those things. Overall a nice sports centre with good parking. Nice cafe offering a good selection of quality products.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic sports centre run by great people who are passionate about health and fitness and supporting the community. Best pool and gym in the south west

Negative experience: Hoist broken some staff really quite rude otheres very helpful

Positive experience: Good facilities. Clean. Hosts a variety of different events.

Fantastic experience: The equipment is plentiful and in good condition, but it can be busy. Sauna and steam room are just adequate in size. The hot tub (evidently) has not been working for two years. Coded access is required as the card scanner doesn't work. Staff are helpful and friendly. Although the front desk discriminates against tall and average height people, one has to squat to speak.

Fantastic experience: Swimming lessons for children are excellent.

Negative experience: Very dated and tired changing rooms. Not very clean. No hair dryers which do much drying (the two there barely blow!). No spin dryer for wet clothes. Only a few showers which also weren’t particularly clean However, the swimming staff were friendly and lovely. And it is convenient. The pool itself seemed clean and well maintained. Some of the toys for the children’s swim weren’t actually water toys (old battery operated toys) which aren’t ideal as can’t be cleaned. Also lots of mould came out of some of the squidgy ducks and rubber toys. Need fully sealed ones! However, given the climate, we are lucky to have a local pool!

Positive experience: Please be aware that opening times are not as listed on Google. Arrived at 4:45pm to buy goggles for my son. Google lists closing time as 6pm Young lady at reception informed me that the reception closed at 4:30, her shift had finished and the 'tills were closed'. I hate that line, it's a lie. Card payments can be taken. I'd rather she was honest and just said she didn't want to help. Wasted journey and not the best first experience. Hopefully things will improve on our next visits.

Negative experience: Customer service is useless. I had a problem with an enrollment in swimming lessons - nobody tries to help. Reception doesn't deal with this, online I've got reply after 9 hours, advising to send email somewhere else, and wait 3-5 days for response

Positive experience: Child's birthday party... hall was a good space. Staff helpful with inflatable, clean. Plenty of parking. Looks like lots of options for hire of space, parties choices

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Hutton Moor for more than 20 years, the classes are fantastic! Sarah, Chez, Lisa and Hannah bring so much energy knowledge and enthusiasm, that even the hardness of classes is fun.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant value for money, lots of choices for group fitness classes from early morning through to the evenings and the instructors are fantastic (Chez Stabbins, Sarah Ford, Jason Wragg, Lisa Sellars, Sarah Weare and Jade Vincent to name a few). Plus lots of virtuaI classes if the instructor led classes aren’t at a time that suits you. I joined over 15 years ago and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: If you told me 2 years ago I’d be going to the gym practically everyday I would have laughed. My friend dragged me along to try a free 3 day trial. I am hooked. All the staff are so friendly from the reception, cafe to the teachers. I go to 4 DPro and LBT with Sarah who is amazing. She is always encouraging and so full of energy. Zoe has many strings to her bow and I do Queenax with her. she is tiny with a brilliant smile but big booming voice. I would like to do her stretch classes but I run out of time. Carolyn teaches us Pilates and I go to Zoe for yoga. All the staff are so talented and knowledgeable. The classes are always busy and different abilities. You don’t feel inadequate. Just helped to get to your full potential. There are a wide range of ages and everyone is welcome. I have made new friends and I’ve even gone In The gym. Can’t recommend Hutton moor enough.

Fantastic experience: Have been a member for many years and would definitely recommend Hutton Moor. Great facilities, love the variety of classes, all the instructors are lovely and very helpful. I normally do six different classes a week and also play badminton twice a week. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, have made so many new friends since joining here.

Fantastic experience: Having tried various gyms in Weston Hutton Moor is most definitely the best!! I’ve been going for several years and tend to focus mainly on group classes. The atmosphere is positive and supportive, which makes all the difference when you're pushing yourself to meet your fitness goals. I have made friends for life which is an added bonus!! The instructors (special mention for Sarah Ford, Zoe and Carolyn!) are knowledgeable and motivating, always ensuring that you get the most out of each session. If you're looking for a gym that combines excellent facilities with a welcoming community atmosphere, especially if you enjoy group workouts Hutton Moor is the place to be!

Fantastic experience: Love Hutton Moor go to 5/6 classes a week I have health restrictions but all of the instructors understand and modify any that I am unable to do. Big shout out to Sarah, Zoe, Carolyn and Lisa. I’ve also made friends for life, great to have a catch up after group in the coffee shop. If you are looking for a fun, friendly gym you need look no further.

Fantastic experience: I contacted kylie and dave from the centre about being able to use the swimming facilities for one month in February and in July as I was raising money and awareness for two charities. On both occasions kylie and dave allowed me and a friend to use the facilities. The facilities were top notch and I'd like to thank them so much for doing this for us! Great company and great people.

Positive experience: Waiting outside for taxi. Although signs for no smoking or vaping in that area , two people taking no notice as usual now a days. Cause I suppose it was raining and so couldn't be bothered to go further

Positive experience: Parking spaces are very small. Swimming slots are hard to get at certain times. The spa room has no jacuzzi but they still charge full price and it's not noted on their website.

Positive experience: The facilities are good, but we only used changing rooms and swimming pool, but generally centre looked good. I was visiting and wanted to use the pool for a swim. The reception staff on Saturday morning seemed to have little knowledge about the pool. We arrived at 10.30 (we hadn't checked website) and told we couldn't swim until 12.30 but could wait in the coffee lounge. What they failed to inform us that there was lane swimming and could go in at 12.30. on checking the website it said there was lane swimming at 11. 45 but she did not mention it. When we tried to book as it stated as there were spaces she said we couldn't we had to wait. However another member of staff overheard what she said and told her we could. For lack of customer service by reception staff I've given this a 3 star review.

Negative experience: Me and my husband go swimming there, the problem is that there are people who do not respect at all when it is slow lane, swim very fast and distract others and you cannot swim calmly.

Positive experience: Little boy goes swimming here from time to time. I get a coffee and sit by the pool but it's £3 for a machine coffee, same as such from a barista at well known coffee outlet but this is just the world we live in I guess

Positive experience: Leaky roof, lacks management of courts. Playing badminton and they’re wheeling table tennis tables behind our courts. Not even waiting for play to stop. Shame really as we run our club from here.

Positive experience: Was here for Brick - Lego experience - The leisure centre is great for this sort of event. We have been before. Lots of people were there so was a bit tricky finding a car parking space. The event itself wasn't as good a we had been too previously - we thought the number of Exhibits was lacking - we like to see amazing builds. At this event in 2023 there were more sellers .

Positive experience: I use the pool twice a week for lane swimming. The changing rooms are the worst part with lots of lockers in a bad state of repair. Apart from that, it's pretty good.

Fantastic experience: Love swimming every week . Looked into membership but it was way too expensive if all l want to do is swimming. Quoted £25 per month.

Positive experience: First time there, for roller skating loved it,very well organised, good fun reasonable price too

Negative experience: I don’t recommend it at all. I tried to cancel my membership on 05/09/2023, but received no replies. So I tried over the phone today, 07/09/2023, and the lady said that they have a 1 month notice police. Meaning that I’d pay the correspondent to 7 days in October, right? Wrong! Even cancelling on the first week of September, I still need to pay FOR THE WHOLE MONTH OF OCTOBER. This is ridiculous. So I’m stuck with that horrible gym for one more month. Join any other gym, but not this one.

Fantastic experience: Well organised swim meet for South Western counties masters. My only criticism is that the PA sound system not very clear

Fantastic experience: Really lovely large leisure centre, well maintained & great helpful 5* staff. (Only problem I had was a parking ticket, so please be aware) Had a tour of gym - very well equipped, modern & clean. People using facilities are chatty & nice too. Great cafe inside. Used pool & changing rooms, nice to have private showers in ladies but floor in shower could have been a lot cleaner.

Fantastic experience: I recently joined Hutton Moore. I was greeted by a lovely member of staff called Holly on the gym reception. She was instantly welcoming and checked up on me during my session, which made me feel so comfortable considering I’m new to the area. So far I have used the gym and pool facility and I couldn’t be happier with what is to offer. I’m looking forward to using the sauna and all the other extra benefits you get from being a member . Fantastic experience: Great old school feeling leisure centre. Very good prices and a lot to offer. The gym is surprisingly really big and has great new equipment. The staff on reception are very friendly and helpful. Can get busy at certain times of the day but has great selection of activities.

Positive experience: Youngest grandsons, swimming lesson. Water a bit cold for the little ones.Needs to be more seperation between foot traffic from outside, and swimmers. I hate to think what nasties are being carried in on people's shoes, and then transferred into the pool. Nice sports center, mostly,well run, friendly atmosphere. Nice cafe.

Negative experience: Great gym very convenient for me and very friendly staff and great equipment. Just the management and operations seem to be very disjointed, as lots of the facilities are broken i.e the hot tub(over 5 months) and the showers are cold yet they still charge their full membership price. Update January 2024: still very poorly managed, the hot tub is still broken, one very rude manager overseeing the spa, lots of good offers for new members but never any offers for long term members of the leisure centre, also be aware they have recently taken on a lot of under 18 members making it feel more like a kids club than a leisure centre at certain times especially when they are unsupervised in the gym.

Positive experience: Good price to go swimming with the children, there was random plasters and debris on the pool floor, and the outside of the pool was a bit to be desired

Positive experience: Gym has had a good refurbishment a few years back with all new machines, unfortunately the same can't be said for the changing rooms which are at least 20 years old and there's only a couple of showers working. The hot tub has been out of order for at least 6 months now, no sign of fixing or replacing and the sauna/steam room never produces enough heat/steam to make it enjoyable. It also closes alot earlier now than before covid making it hard to have a workout and then have a quick session. The opening times of the centre have still not gone back to before covid and so close alot earlier, especially on the weekends. It's good value for the money and you are supporting the local leisure centre by signing up.

Negative experience: This review is based on the leisure centre's recent hosting of a Lego event, which itself was pretty meh. Ample parking at the rear field, but no apparent signage / guides to point you away from the penalty tarmac zone. Female staff pleasant, male staff seemed bored / disinterested. I'm guessing the interior was modelled after a local prison before they've painted. Can't tell you about the facilities, it seems nobody was proud enough to upsell.

Negative experience: Massive admin fees when leaving, left because far too busy. 1 in 3 times couldn't even get parked.

Positive experience: No parking, I think there was a bloody dog show inside... A dog show!

Positive experience: Staff very friendly and helpful. Only reason i gave 4* is the website kept throwing up an error message when I tired to register. Had to call reception to register in the end. Yoga on a Wed nt 8-9pm was fantastic, would definitely recommend. Swimming pool is a good size, health suite is nice, only thing is hot tub was out of use. Good value for money, would definitely recommend ****

Fantastic experience: Great outdoor 4G surface. Good facilities indoors cafe with main viewing area and plenty of free parking

Negative experience: Very disappointed on this leisure Centre. Everything is old, looks like needs refurbishment. Once asked to cancel my membership, been told to call number which is not answering waiting more than 40 minutes on the line. In addition to this I been charge for next month when I canceled it right after opening membership. Horrible service lack of information. Very dirty and outdated.

Fantastic experience: You couldn't get a leisure centre with more friendly and helpful staff. This place has excellent facilities and there is so much on offer for fitness: the classes, courts and pool provide a fantastic range.

Negative experience: It has a role in the community which is brilliant but it’s not a great gym for me personally. Everything feels like hard work there. Wifi is v poor. The pool is impossible during the day. I found it tough getting on stuff in the gym. Couldn’t find a quiet time. The showers are basically school communal showers. Which is fine but not for nearly fifty quid a month.

Fantastic experience: Roman took my little girls swimming lesson today, she had the best time, learnt so much from him, and has not stopped going on about the ‘new man’ that takes her swimming lessons. Roman you are an absolute credit, fun and crazy and my daughter was in her element with you today. Thank you for being fun, interactive and when you finished the lesson and I said thank you, your reply was ‘ I loved that ‘!!!! Wow… whoever employed you got it bang on !!!

Negative experience: It would have been useful for their website or somewhere on social media if someone had put that the sauna closes at 4 on Saturdays. I feel a bit bad for my fiancé having to get my mobility scooter in and out of the car for nothing. Also the reception was closed.

Fantastic experience: Joined Hutton Moor last month. The gym there is really good. Plenty of weights and exercise machines. Friendly staff. Plenty of classes too. Would highly recommend

Positive experience: I had an archery competition in the sports hall which in mine and a lot of other archers opinion was far to cold.

Positive experience: Vending machines not working. All of the rest great like usual.

Negative experience: Booked a pitch on the 3G but the trainee made a mistake which led to 12 people turning up to the pitch without a booking. We understand we accept people make mistakes. After speaking to the “manager” called Arti she was useless and didn’t give us any help or advice we needed, not even a refund for something we didn’t receive. She was rude and aggressive and didn’t understand the situation we were in. She did not help one bit and aggravated us more, as we tried to be as understanding as possible but couldn’t as the manager didn’t even try to help us or resolve the situation. After talking to the duty manager he was very helpful and gave us exactly what we asked for after Arti said we couldn’t have it, bit weird.

Positive experience: Was a lovely time with the kids , although more attention needs to be taken with the older kids coming in the baby pool and causing havoc when people are their with baby's and very young children as it's dangerous and off-putting.

Positive experience: Just a heads up members, parkwood leisure has outsourced their payment management and this company now fines you £20 for late payments... even if its their fault they will try it on. Not a good move parkwood.

Fantastic experience: Great gym with lots of equipment and rarely too busy. The PT’s are simply amazing. Particularly Kay, who has worked wonders for me Highly recommended.

Positive experience: Not reviewing the facility, just the customer service. A member of reception staff (red hair) sat there on the phone, not even acknowledging I was there. Over 5 minutes passed before another member of staff arrived. I get that people are busy, but completely ignoring customers is a bad idea.

Positive experience: Decent sized pools, good sized pitches. Although, some facilities are overpriced. The staff are always on lookout and are at the pools keeping them safe, and the people at the reception are sometimes on task. I do hope in the future staff could be happier and more cheerful.

Negative experience: I can't take my child swimming after school as there is no availability due to lessons. Lessons are important but so is family swim time so there should be at least some availability 4-6pm. This has prevented us joining.

Fantastic experience: So had impromptu swimming lesson with kids and the swim coach for kids was amazing. I've been taken my 2 years (he is 4 now) and haven't been able to get him to jump in. 10 minutes in the class and he's freely jumping in, going under water and more confident. Great work. I left 1 start review before due to some of the facilities and machine breaking but I am changing to 5* from todays session and the interaction with the swim staff

Fantastic experience: The customer service was exquisite first contact at reception best first contact i’ve ever had pleasant even though im visiting i wanted to join Helen Sophie were impeccable exactly what customer service is all about

Negative experience: Sort out your virtual classes! I turned up to a virtual class today, the screen wasn't working so I went to reception to ask them to resolve the problem. After several failed attempts by staff and after waiting for half an hour I ended up leaving without a workout. I appreciate that the virtual classes aren't busy but they should be more reliable. If problems do arise with the screens/classes not playing there should be a quick fix not a 30 minute wait and an unresolved issue.

Positive experience: Shame the cafe wasn't open, a huge event run very well by the organisers. Some issues with parking, due to the number of competitors and the travellers encamped taking up a large proportion of the car park.

Positive experience: It's really good to relax in the pool and when you have muscles that don't wanna work swimming will help you relax

Positive experience: Was there for a class in one of the studios, which was excellent btw. I've only scored the facility as "ok" because, whilst the one member of staff I could find was helpful, there wash only one member of staff visible anywhere (and not on reception), when it came time to leave there was no direction on where the exit was because they use a side door, not the main one. A sign of something would be a good idea.

Positive experience: Really enjoy my visits, staff very friendly and helpful. Nice to see the new lights being installed in the indoor sports hall, and the new café coming together, hopefully opening late February.

Negative experience: Called up that morning to find out what time the pool was open till and they said 4 arrived around 3 and they said the little pool closed in 15 minutes and the big pool in 5. Had walked 40 minutes to get there so was not overly impressed especially concidering that we had called that morning to check times

Negative experience: Lifeguards, don't make me laugh I was watching them spend more time talking to each other than watching the pool

Fantastic experience: Great family friendly centre. Fantastic pools for all ages and good size changing rooms. Massive gym with lots of different equipment too.

Negative experience: Don't take out membership as you are stuck with it for A YEAR and you can never get booked to use the swimming pool, the slots get booked up a week in advance, particularly in the morning. It's infuriating. Plus the sauna often isn't working, the hotel tub broken and the steam room nor even hot.

Negative experience: Haven't been in years simply because of how awful the place is. It's a standard basic pool, it's cold, stinks of public bathroom and I often find dirt/plasters in the pool. I wouldn't dream of swimming in it ever again let alone my kids and accidentally swallowing any of it I put my kids on the swimming lessons books many years ago and they never got back to me, I'm glad now. Really do not recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: Really nice, classic style leisure center with a very wide, roomy pool for everyone. Sensible prices for a family and good long sessions. No need to book ahead. Great staff that can help if you need it or have questions.
