Negative experience: Went in with my mum today to talk to reception, they were really unfriendly about what we came to talk to them about. Don't feel comfortable coming to this gym anymore as the people who work there obviously don’t like us.

Negative experience: Abysmal service from reception team and management. Aggressive, rude and unhelpful. Would recommend avoiding this gym like the plague. Safeguarding concerns were raised for junior sessions - and ignored.

Fantastic experience: Awesome facilities to cater for your every fitness need. Pool, sauna, gym, sports halls, Les mills bikes room, football courts and exercise classes of all descriptions. All run by friendly, approachable members of staff whom are happy to let you do your own thing, or guide you through some exercises, or really put you through your paces. Very clean facilities with drinks and food machines in the reception area, but there are plenty of major food and drink outlets (including a pub with carvery) just opposite, should your thirst and hunger need quenching. Absolutely loads of parking for cars, vans and bicycles. There's even a play park on the corner for the little ones.

Positive experience: I wouldn't call sitting outside this place with my dog at 6 in the morning an experience but people I I meet and there's lots of them like it all ways busy lot's of coming and going and the staff keep everything ship shape inside and out seems to work for most people

Negative experience: Staff are good and the gym isn’t bad, but Harlands, who process cancellations are severely lacking when it comes to their customer service ability. They charged me after I cancelled more than 1 month earlier and then completely denied taking it. I then sent proof and the same lady didn’t even respond to this, after being quite blunt in the first instance when denying the payment was taken. After I got through to someone else on the phone, they were helpful and said they can see I have been charged, but policy meant that it took more than 10 days to refund.

Negative experience: The two pools are brilliant, but the staff really let the place down. There’s no control when the older kids use the small pool, jumping in and splashing too close to the smaller children whilst their parents stay in the big pool. The life guards just sit there staring in to space, I’ve even had to complain about 3 people that sat on the side of the pool, fully clothed, taking pictures and no one life guard got up to challenge them despite the strict rules they have on cameras in and around the pool.

Fantastic experience: We took a tour of the complex. I was very impressed with what we saw. Our visit was in the evening and so it was quite busy. It's quieter during the day which will suit us for sure.

Negative experience: Absolute joke think I preferred the old pool. It's a bank holiday and they allocated 1 hour for a family swim the rest for lane swimming and they seem to be so constricted with time slots we actually got in the other day we had a 25 minute swim which we paid full price for and then where asked to leave whilst they started putting lanes out absoute waste of time have yet to have a positive experience or anything positive to say

Positive experience: Nice to still have a pool locally. Only downside is it's always so cold when you get your little kids out of the teaching pool. The walk to the lockers after is freezing cold and our youngest bottom lip always go blue (that's with a towel wrapped round her which we leave poolside.

Negative experience: Another class cancelled this morning - though the App says 'fully booked '- great for Leisure Centre Statitics, but not a clear indication of how many classes are actually CANCELLED due to staff shortages. This is becoming too regular to be acceptable !

Positive experience: The swimming is very good qualm for what it is and the prices range for lessons lane or just swim.The only thing I would suggest is that they get some more activity’s like lazy river or like a fast tube slide

Negative experience: I signed my daughter up for swimming lessons and arranged for the teacher to be in the water with her, we turned up for her first lesson and was told she wouldn't have the teacher in the water with her. It's not what I paid for, and even after speaking to the swimming manager they didn't seem that bothered. Extremely unhappy after paying all that money

Positive experience: It has been a few years since I have been here ,but thought it would be nice to take the grandkids I was surprised to find you have to book online for a slot even more surprised to find no lockable lockers you have to provide your own lock when I quered this I was told its been like that for ages ,but nowhere on the website or in the centre is a notice The grandkids had fun but I feel standards have dropped not sure if I would go back

Fantastic experience: We play over 55 badminton on a Monday and Thursday it's great fun. If you're interested just turn up, the Leisure Centre staff are very friendly and helpful. Oops forgot it's between 9am and 12am.

Negative experience: The place needs to employ a cleaner. The gym this morning was FILTHY. The staff spend most of their time chatting to each other. Do better !!! Get a cleaner !!!

Positive experience: Some teachers are good for the classes, some are not. It’s just odd to see how someone is clearly not in shape and not educated to be teaching. But there are also some good teachers. I hate how you have to pay a fee if you don’t show up to class or even if you want to cancel your spot for the class. Literally why? It doesn’t make sense, as anyone can book last minute for the class but then if you want to free space you have to pay..? Ridiculous really. I had booked an induction day and no one showed up. Classes are an alright price, could be lower. Overall, I enjoyed the leisure centre. Mediocre but the only one like that in the area.

Negative experience: Disappointing experience we are on holiday from overseas made a phone call 10am 17th May to enquire about swimming prices for adult and child. We made our way to the leisure center about 11.30 am and at reception were advised the child pool was booked for swim lessons only and not open to public till 2pm. So we wasted a mornings travel and our child was so disappointed this could have easily been delt with if we were informed at 10am by the reception staff

Fantastic experience: I spoke with a member of staff called Catherine she sounded young but very knowledgeable polite and helpful such resources need recognition hence the five stars

Negative experience: Very poor service, had a gym induction booked for my daughter , we turned up and there was no one to do it , they didn't apologize or even try to sort out another induction , no wonder they are losing money , shocking

Fantastic experience: Clip & climb is fantastic for my 7 & 9 year old granddaughters. They've been 4 weekends & love the wall climb which tries to beat the clock... beating their own time. Best gets to write their name on the Whiteboard, and wow that motivates speed to the top +nameboard proud twice!

Negative experience: Front desk team are miserable and unwelcoming, need to focus and improve their hospitality skills. The classes are great made to feel welcome even if you have never done it. (Front desk need to learn from this). Although I always wipe down the matts, you are not instructed or encouraged to do this which is a bit odd... I guess the best thing is to bring your own. If the fro t of house team were better with customer service this place would be amazing!

Negative experience: Many of the reception staff are unfriendly and seem so miserable. The classes are varied, which is great, however a few have been cancelled at short notice. There seems to be no infection prevention control, I have never seen any instructor clean anything prior to or post classes or mention it during inductions. Good location and a variety of exercise options.

Negative experience: After a year of being with this centre I have given up and cancelled my membership..... the reasons are:- Lane swimming on a Tuesday and Thursday 6pm is a joke, only ever 2 lanes and the life guards do nothing to stop the annoying kids getting in and taking the micky. THEN they decide to start swimming teaching in the lanes, they're completely in the way, jump when your swimming past, and the teacher doesn't even care. I'm sorry but when you're paying £41 a month for a membership you don't expect to see teaching in the lanes when they're not even Lane swimming. Unacceptable! I also use to do aqua on a Tuesday and Thursday evening, which is shame because both Mark and Joy are great, but due to the lack of private showers I had to get out about 10 minutes before the end as I wanted to make sure I got a CLEAN shower and one that actually works. Out of the private ones they have, only 2 are any good. For a place that's charging a huge amount per month, I expect proper Lane swimming and clean changing rooms, especially the showers. I saw the same hair ball on the wall for a solid 3 weeks. I'm not the only one to moan, I've seen a few people cancel now and move onto Fareham as they're cheaper and cleaner!

Negative experience: I wanted to cancel my membership for me and my kids and after they cancelled my kids membership they realised they can't cancel mine and I told them then I want to keep my kids membership aswell,they send me an email after a few day that I have to pay joining fees again.

Positive experience: It could have been so much more, but it will do fine The pool in the summer get super cloudy because hardly anyone washes before going in. The sauna/steam room people will get into lane swimming and sit at the end right in your way to chat and lifeguards do nothing. The viewing gallery is terrible. It's a solid wall and suitable for standing space only. It's probably one of the worst pools locally with regards to this. The gym is okay and is average sized. Often equipment will be out of action and this can be frustrating. It's also annoying when the lift breaks because without it the upstairs is completely inaccessible. It's okay though if you don't expect much and the gym isn't your main focus. There is no cafe like most places would have and no real seating area. The front of the leisure centre is the seating area and that's a bit terrible tbh. They have vending machines instead of a cafe. Seems daft. But there is proper food across the carpark. I truly think this place lacks the design from anyone who has actually used a leisure centre and visited one before. It's staggeringly bad. Saying all this though, it could be worse. It works and the prices are alright.

Positive experience: I used to take swimming lessons on a Saturday morning when I lived in the area. The teachers I had were great. They were so helpful in teaching us how to swim. I still have certificates and I think my blue swimming hat from here. I enjoyed coming to the swimming pool. When I came here i made friends in my group. I had so much fun swimming here. Good to see it’s still running smoothly. Thanks again for teaching me how to swim ☺️ This is my thanks to all the teachers I had and I hope their still there teaching other kids like they taught me

Positive experience: Good pool, can get over crowded, front staff could do with cheering up as they all look miserable and sour faced, just saying, a smile and friendly greeting and farewell doesn't cost a thing!

Negative experience: Trying to book a court via the phone is shocking! Early call on a Sunday morning at 7am when they open no one picks up for 20 minutes - 'Oh i'm so sorry we are really busy' Really??? It's not even half 7 on a Sunday morning you can't be that busy! I think you don't want to pick up the phone! Just be honest with customers!!!

Negative experience: It is disappointing to be paying a large sum of money to receive a incomplete service. With 2 of the 3 cable machines out of action with another one on the edge of death it is sad to say this gym is not what it once was. Various machine require maintenance with loose bolts and a shortlist of injuries that are waiting to happen. As a long standing customer of several plus years and paying a large sum of money Monthly, I find it appalling thats it takes a number of months for broken equipment to get recognised let alone fixed. It is important to note that the day to day gym staff are amazing and treat every member of the paying public with full respect and deal with complaints on the matter time and time again. It is the lack of action from higher management that has resulted in long standing customer considering moving in to another gym.

Negative experience: I've been going to the gym side of Gosport Leisure Centre for several years now and the staff upstairs are amazing. Unfortunately due to recent events, the gym equipment is poorly maintained and the management have made no effort to fix the issues with them. Two of the cable fly machines has had one side damaged which has resulted in just being able to use one side, which is fine because you can still do part of your exercises on one side, bare in mind one of the machines has been broke for nearly 2 months now. Arrived at the gym today to find they've recently decided to tape off both machines due to "risks" even though the other sides were completely fine. Poor choice to be completely removing two of the machines at the busiest time for any gym at the start of January where more people are inclined to join. The gym member ship is a substantial amount of money to pay each month for an incomplete gym.

Fantastic experience: I only played football on one of the outdoor AstroTurf football pitches, but the staff were helpful and the pitch was in good condition.

Positive experience: Really great kids pool. We come every week. Most of the time it’s pretty warm and such a good size. Going during the week is perfect as it’s always half empty. Clean and good facilities too making changing easy. The only issues are that when you get out it’s FREEZING!! And the floors are slippery. My son has slipped a few times (walking every time).

Positive experience: Updated 9/12/2023 Had a lot more new Updated gear, always a great relaxed atmos, shame they can't treat there staff well, but over all it's a leisure centre based on Gosport Updated 18/02/2023 GLC since my last review a year ago has dramatically gone down hill, staff leaving/hours being cut, gym equipment outdated and always breaking/out of order, place being left unstaffed and cleaners here clean everywhere else in the GLC other than the gym I love this place but Shame there is always something wrong, such a shame and typically cutting to try and save money but killing the quilty all together "Old review" Ive been coming here for a little over 3 years now, great gym fantastic and knowledgeable staff I love the place

Fantastic experience: My husband and I use this gym when visiting my parents in Gosport. It's so easy to use even when paying for a day pass. There are no annoying sales team calling and chasing for you to join permanently etc and no induction needed. The equipment is very clean and the staff are friendly. Great leisure centre.

Negative experience: Bad attitude from the front desk. Turned up with my lad for a casual swim only to be told the pools are fully booked until Friday at 18.30 for 1 hour. Wow thanks holbrook we're wait 2 days for your 1 hour slot at tea time. Bring back the old holbrook, turn up when ever pay your entrance and have as much time as you want.

Negative experience: I was going to buy a membership but after reading that i have to be dressed ready to go i don't think ill bother!!!

Negative experience: Poor services and badly maintained. Not good value for money. Revenue over customer service every time. I have been a gym member for about a year and wonder what I am paying for. I joined to go to the gym then use the sauna and steam room afterwards. The steam room has been off/cold seemingly for 90% of the time over recent months (other users have complained of it going on at least 6 months). The sauna has often been unreliable although less frequently than the steam room. Often not very hot (as in barely on). The deputy manager that I raised this with a while back told me the steam room needed the maintenance people to repair it the following day - a week later still nothing done (there wasn't even a "sorry, out of service" sign until I mentioned this. No company that cared for its customers would tolerate such a poor level of maintenance/repair so I'm guessing Places for People either don't care about customers, allow the maintenance company to get away with not fixing the issue time and again or there is something else at play here. It all seems like People and Places (not a council run service this leisure centre but a company for profit) just want to take money and offer little. I actually suspect there has been deliberate turning off or keeping sauna/steam rooms at low temperature to save money - that's how little they seem to care. Sauna/steam rooms (if actually working) are closed daily Mon-Fri from 4.00 - 5.30 for "cleaning" even though this could be done at other times to minimise closure - I'm guessing a cost reduction exercise? Swimming sessions if you have children are difficult to do casually as they seek to make as much money from the pools by closing them off for classes so if using make sure you check the timetable or get turned away. Gym is reasonably equipped but nothing special and for lower cost and no promise of other facilities that are rarely ever provided you could go to aanytime Fitness in Stoke Road which is I believe about a 3rd cheaper or Fareham Leisure Centre which costs a bit more but has decent facilities and a very good and reliable sauna/steam facility too. Shower facilities ok but shower cubicles often unpleasant (don't touch the walls). Lockers often stiff and finicky - they'll sell you a padlock or bring your own (no longer coin operated, I guess padlocks are a money spinner). Staff with the exception of Chanice (who seemed to take my complaint seriously) couldn't care less including the deputy manager. Service with a shrug. I requested a call from the manager but this wasn't acted on so writing this here. Really poor value for money and transparently there to make as much money as possible and offer little. A bad reflection on the overall chain as well as this site.
