Fantastic experience: Very nice pool and amenities. Staff friendly.

Negative experience: It’s nice and clean place, friendly staff. But unfortunately I sign up without coming and see a gym first. There is not enough of equipment to exercise at all. Simply not even back stretching exercise machine. Most of equipment are useless, also try sauna tonight and it’s also useless. Only 75 Celsius inside, should be minimum 100 and up to 120 Celsius. After asking staff if temperatures can be increased been told that no. So I won’t recommend this place.

Positive experience: Great place to bring the kids.

Positive experience: Lovely full sized pool with plenty of room for Lane swimming. Good changing rooms and facilities.

Negative experience: The gym is small and not worth the price. The free weight area is particularly lacking. I enrolled in the gym October 2023 under the premise that the new gym would be ready after Christmas. It is almost June and nothing. The monthly fee is okay for a bigger gym which I imagine they plan to have at some point, but they are not honest at all about the progress of the reform.

Negative experience: Very disappointment, not able to buy monthly membership anymore, and if u do buy one by direct debit u have to tell them upfront around 2 weeks before that u wanna cancel because if not they will charge for next mont! Also seen the gym now still hasn’t been renovated is limited space and is so tiny… I used to enjoy there but I am rather go somewhere else and cheaper…

Negative experience: I highly recommend that you DON’T visit this pool. The advertised programmes on the website mean nothing apparently. Double check at reception that it’s a general swim, have it confirmed it’s a general swim, paid for a general swim. Get in the pool and get told by a lifeguard, I’m in the WRONG LANE for general swim Won’t be returning to this place (it’s not the first time I’ve had problems here) Knaresborough will be our regular swim from now on!

Positive experience: The facilities are fantastic. All very modern clean and up to date. Cleaning was happening throughout our visit. The changing rooms, toilets and pool were all clean. The changing village and family changing rooms are really helpful. The lockers take £1 coins. The swimming accessories on offer to buy are also a good range. We went to an inflatable and fun session. This consists of a inflatable one end and one end with floats and balls. To use the inflatable you need to show you can swim 25m. The inflatable is only open to under 16s. Safety is well thought of. The inflatable is in the pool but you need to jump on to the inflatable as there is a gap between the side of the pool and the start of the inflatable. I do worry that if a child misses and bounces off the inflatable they may hit straight back on to the side of the wall. Our local pool the inflatable is right up to the edge so you step on without the gap. At the beginning of the session a good safety chat is given about the session which was informative however during the chat the member of staff giving the chat said "I will be cross if I have to get wet and have to jump in to help you." That statement could potentially stop a person calling out if they get into trouble into the water afraid they will get into trouble. Nobody goes to a swimming pool to drown on purpose. If you're going to be cross if you might get wet saving someone's life then unfortunately it sounds like you're in the job. Again comparing this to our local pool the safety chat is very similar but the lifeguards very much highlight they are there to help and if you need help then to give them a signal. I've also seen one of them jump in with no hesitation to help a child in need.

Negative experience: 13.25 for a sauna and steam inclusive of swimming however swimming wasn't open when I went there. There's only one bench at the sauna place and everyone uses it as a wardrobe, there is no water fountain in the entire centre. Staff are pretty obnoxious and rude they think they work at David llyods. Won't be coming back

Fantastic experience: My lad comes for swimming lessons every Friday he’s really progressing, we come swimming most Sundays. The pool iand the changing rooms are clean . The temperature when you first get in can take your breath away sometimes but once you’re moving it’s perfect. The staff a smiley and happy. They have a good coffee machine. I’m looking at joining the gym next.

Negative experience: The worst pool I have ever been too the pool was really crowded and the vending machine got my food that I paid for stuck and they didn’t have a key for it so they got a free pound and didn’t give us a pound in return DONT GO THERE

Negative experience: The pool was very cold my 3yr old was shivering and turning blue after 20 minutes so had to get out of the water only to find the showers were just as cold. Would never go there again waste of money! Very disappointing !!

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience. This was my first time swimming since the lockdown and my first visit to Jack Laugher leisure centre and swimming pool. The receptionist was very welcoming and didn't mind helping me when I couldn't work the barriers. Very clean, spacious changing areas, although I do have my reservations about it being mixed. Very nice clean pool. 2 lanes in operation for medium and fast swimmers. The other 1/2 of the pool was for everyone else. The water temperature was just right. Lots of disabled facilities and ample parking. I will definitely be back.

Negative experience: This review is for the newly built location. Overall it's not a bad place the facilities are incredibly modern and new, the staff are also extremely helpful. However there are things that certainly need to be addressed, I signed up and cancelled on the same day for the following reasons: -Under 16's are allowed in the gym, they lack the understanding of gym etiquette. For instance bench pressing under a squat rack, when there was a bench press available. Meaning I couldnt do squats. They would also loiter around the equipment on their phones meaning I had to wait. - The machines require you to scan a QR code, which takes you to an app which then requires personal information, email addresses, phone numbers, location, and biometrics. Not only this the QR code never scans and it took me 10 minutes for the QR code to eventually scan. (You need to scan the QR on every machine you use). - The machines although incredibly detailed and modern. It is incredibly difficult to just to a simple work out with the weight you desire and in your own time. for instance you have do the reps in a time period in which the weights are loaded. - To access the lockers you have to remove shoes and socks into a wet changing area, only to lock your valuables, go out put your socks and shoes on and have to enter the gym with wet feet. - I found the swimming time table to be too constrictive as there was so many periods within the time table it was hard to know when to visit. For these reasons it is not for me. I have listed my woes in hope that management will read this review and make changes where needed.

Positive experience: Lovely pool lots of showers there is also a sauna and steam room no cafe but there is a vending machine

Fantastic experience: Visited today for first time. Lovely layout. Very clean. The pool was very busy with children being as it is Easter holidays. There was one lane roped off but could have been better with two due to different speeds competing for space. The water feels different from the Hydro, heavier, and had much more chlorine making eyes sting a little. It is a beautiful pool and will definitely be back.

Fantastic experience: Me and my son have been going to the spa baths for years and will continue to till it closes for the last time. Not the best facility's but has character and ambiance and a personal feel with helpfull staff and warm water most of the time .

Negative experience: The place is just run down and in desperate need of a face lift. Saying that the staff seem kind and feels a very comfortable place to go to. It has open changing rooms with no private though

Fantastic experience: I go every week. It's a very beautiful architecturally old building, close to the Spa Gardens and spa hotel. Although old it is clean and extremely well maintained...well worth a visit

Positive experience: For an older local pool it's fine. The staff are really nice and we have kids lessons on a Friday which are fun and good value. It needs modernising really but there's allegedly a new pool opening instead. We have had occasions where the boiler has broken and its just too cold for the toddler to swim, and this can be frustrating when you've walked down and got changed only to have to get straight back out again. The original parts of the building are gorgeous and worth a look for visiting architecture buffs!

Positive experience: I go weekly to Ripon baths. I suffer with arthritis and can't take the cold. The water is lovely and warm so lm able to get back to my swimming.

Positive experience: Great local baths. I love the atmosphere of the Victorian spa - you really step back in time. Baths are basic, just one pool, so old school basically, but my kids have both leaned to swim there.

Fantastic experience: A good range of sporting activities can be had. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Ripon Leisure Centre offers subsidised activities which are affordable for all. The fitness suite is very good and is located on two floors. Worth getting a membership.

Positive experience: very old with a nice community feel, however it can be too crowded and without lanes the pool is chaos (family group taking up half the width and length swimmers shooting in all directions) - went with a child learner who found it all a bit stressful but the lifeguards were great

Negative experience: If hell has a changing room it would be Ripon Spa baths. Possibly one of the worst swimming pools I've ever been too. The floors and changing room are disgusting and the temperature is subtropical. I wonder what weird and wonderful bacteria is growing in there. I feel sorry for the staff as they seem friendly enough but the facilities are woeful. Harrogate council need to build a new pool for the residents of Ripon.

Positive experience: Lovely staff but love the victorian old building!

Fantastic experience: I take my dad here once a week. He has advanced Parkinson's but is still a shark in the water. Staff are very helpful and friendly and make it easier for us to keep coming along.

Negative experience: Dirty changing rooms, shower walls always slimy, pool water isn't looked after properly. Young men swimmers can be intimidating for older folk who swim. Try avoid busy times if possible, staff don't seem to care except for one older lady

Fantastic experience: A super little swimming baths. Deepest point 7ft 6" too. Parking can be a pain though.

Negative experience: I will not pay £45 for two hours of half court (basketball) when I can go to hambleton and I'm only paying £5.00 for two hours
