Fantastic experience: One of the best places I’ve ever stayed at. I booked a dog-friendly room and the staff could not have been more helpful. We could not eat in the restaurant of course but we could eat in the bar, which was just as good, perhaps even better as Dexter, my dog, got lots of attention from both staff and passers by. Outside, there’s a path around the whole hotel so I could take Dexter for a walk there early each morning and evening. The food was excellent and Dexter even received a sausage for breakfast, which was a relief as he wasn’t eating his kibble for some reason, perhaps everything was too new for him. Only one downside to the hotel, the staff aren’t allowed to take cash tips and there’s no tip box. So, many thanks to Kim for her great service at dinner on the 14 December 2024.

Positive experience: Booked the hotel on booking.com a couple hours before going not anywhere on booking.com did it say the spa and swimming pool was being refurbished it’s the main reason I booked the hotel. I paid £180 for the junior suite and was very disappointed the room was like it hadn’t been changed since the 90s when I walked in and saw what I got for my money I nearly walked back out but instead we went straight down for dinner, we ordered pretty much every starter on the menu and not one stood out and made my taste buds tingle everything was just so bland with no real flavors that stood out like I was expecting. We ordered the steak for mains this was also just average for the price I paid I would of expected something really good I’d of given the food a 5/10 the service was probably a 4/10 would of expected better for the money I spent. Overall I was really disappointed with my stay wasn’t the night I was hoping for.

Fantastic experience: We arranged an all day work event at Solent Hotel and for convenience I booked one of the hotel rooms the night before (live a few hours away). The whole process of booking the meeting room, agreeing the agenda and refreshments was smooth and hassle free (Grace and Claire were really helpful) and on the day we were looked after by a very helpful chap called Ethan. We also liked having access to the business lounge so we could take a break and grab a drink (and a cookie). My overnight stay was very pleasant, the room was lovely and I ate at the on-site pub The Parsons Collar in the evening - good choice of reasonably priced options. Would book again!

Negative experience: There was no hot water in my room in the morning. I was told this was due to the works and the water being heated by immersion, and that if too many people in that part of the hotel showered at the same time the hot water would run out. I feel this should have been predicted and managed when allocating rooms. It did really ruin my morning as I had been for a run in very cold conditions and was on a tight timescale before having to be available to start work. Not what I expected from a circa £100 per night hotel room. It was a real shame because the room was otherwise very nice, the staff were super friendly and the food in the restaurant was excellent.

Negative experience: No point advertising as Spa, when there is no spa! The rooms were advertised with spa access included, which is 100% misleading.

Positive experience: The hotel was lovely. Some of the facilities are not available until 2025. EV charging is available - though they didn't know the rates. The restaurant was a bit chilly, but the food was excellent - it was expensive, but fair value for how good it was. The WiFi was TERRIBLE and I was unable to conduct any video meetings as it kept dropping out.

Negative experience: This is our second time staying for pur anniversary. Unfortunately I doubt we'll be back. The spa facilities are being refurbished which we didn't know about until just days before our stay when booking dinner time. We Unfortunately couldn't find anywhere else in that time frame. We booked a spa package and paid a lot of money which is frustrating. Our room wasn't as clean as we hoped. A rather dated room which wasn't the issue but expected it to be clean. Crusty stains on the sofa, mould and dirt all over the bathroom. The bed dipped heavily in the middle which caused us to have a bad back/neck. Pillows were very flat and had been folded into tiny squares which we thought was odd so we shook them out to normal size at bedtime. Now we know why they were in squares. The TV had a blue mist on the screen distorting the colour which made it unwatchable. Doors were slamming throughout the night. So, it was not the nice relaxing anniversary stay we had planned for and wasted hundreds of pounds we saved a while for. Only positive, the food was great, couldn't fault it.

Negative experience: Stayed the night before and after a wedding. Chose this as the more expensive option as we wanted a more luxurious experience for the bridal party. Received an email the week before informing us the spa was closed and we could only book treatment you had to pay more for. When we questioned if this would be reflected in our room price we where told a manager would call us by 9pm and never received that call. Rooms very outdated but clean and comfortable bed. Issues with tv had bright damage spots and some buttons on remote broken. In general staff seemed very passive of issues and not very willing to help. Bridal suite rooms air con wouldn't turn off so it was freezing and she had to sleep in her dressing gown. Would look at staying in the cheaper hotel next door if we had to stay again

Negative experience: Wifi didn't reach room. No Spa available for Spa hotel. Breakfast was Eggs Benedict, but came out as Egg Benedict. Front desk not exactly warming However, evening food very good, with good, attentive staff, bar the same. Would I go again? No, reasons above; no spa hotel should be allowed to advertise as such without one, being refurbed or not...

Fantastic experience: We stayed at the Solent hotel over the weekend for my sister's wedding. Ethan was incredibly helpful and patient when calling in advance to book breakfast and dinner. He was so friendly and even went above and beyond when recognising a lot of us calling were from the same party so he got us sitting all together for breakfast. The hotel felt cosy and clean. Our room was lovely, with everything we needed! The breakfast was delicious and service amazing. We also had dinner one night, and also had great service and food. Thank you!

Negative experience: Hotel room was run down, dirty, and not what I would expect from a 4-star place. The so-called spa was awful. Apparently, a large whirlpool is now 1 hot tub outside for over 100 guests to use. The pool area was overcrowded and dirty. Attempted to contact Hotel to remedy but was told should have complained on the night, I upgraded the room on the day and told that it was the best they had available, so felt there wasn't much that could be done. When I asked about the pool/ spa facilities, I was told it's closing tomorrow for renovation, so clearly are aware it's of poor quality. A 4-star hotel should be clean, tidy and fresh. Not rundown stained and broken.

Negative experience: Dani’s Hen Party. On arrival we were ignored and didn’t feel welcomed, we were given the wrong forms to fill in, not shown around the changing area as to where the gowns were, the locker’s didn’t seem to work and had to go and get a member of staff. Only Dani had the slippers which was interesting as the floors were wet from the pool, with no signs up any where. Dani was told over the phone the hot tub was working within the pool area and yet when we got there it was not, so we were given hot tub outside, still no slippers. Finally after complaining to staff we were given the slippers only to find that one of them had a chard of glass in which made my foot bleed, although a member of staff made sure I was ok, maybe checking the area where the glass was broken would of prevented this. We spent a lot of money for very little . And if all this wasn’t enough upon our return home we soon became ill being sick and not just one or two of us most of the group, with what can only be symptoms of food poisoning. Well done Solent Hotel & Spa you excelled yourself in ruining not only our event but entire weekend.

We are disappointed to read this over a review site instead of coming to the hotel directly for us to investigate as this is a very strong accusation as a business. As you may well know, we have had from your experience a visit from the local environmental health officer in relation to the food items consumed on-site from your group. Having worked alongside them with their findings, we are pleased to say that there was no evidence from both a preparation and also a cooking method side to which they were very satisfied with their findings. Positive experience: Everything about this hotel was brilliant apart from the breakfast, its ok but not to the same high standard. I would still love to stay again! Breakfast was included in our package, though I’m not sure if this is standard for all packages. Considering it’s nearly a £20 add-on, it needs to justify that cost. While the drink and continental options were satisfactory, the process of choosing a breakfast meal from a limited selection felt restrictive and outdated. I understand that it might not have been busy enough to warrant a buffet for the cooked breakfast, even though past video reviews show you have done so before. However, there should be more flexibility in customizing the options. Ideally, I wanted a simple breakfast of sausage, bacon, egg, toast, and beans, maybe with a hash brown. Instead, I had to order one of the pre-set options, remove what I didn’t want, and then order toast separately which comes out on its own and goes cold, even the butter was rock hard, it needs to be soft to spread. Both days, my toast arrived right away and went cold while the rest of the food took over 25 minutes to come out. The wait time was acceptable, but the food arrived looking pale and almost undercooked, which was quite off-putting. Even when I requested it well done the next day, there was no noticeable improvement. My partner agreed that the food looked like it had just been rested in the pan not fried, lacking any appeal. A buffet option would be much better, allowing customers to choose their own options. Additionally, items like hash browns should be included as standard, not as extras. It seems unreasonable that you can have unlimited coffee, tea, and pastries, but only one hash brown incurs an extra charge. Please consider revamping your breakfast service. Look at what Marriott, Hilton, or even Premier Inn and Travelodge offer, and aim to match or exceed those standards. Your staff are all brilliant, I really feel like they care

Positive experience: Jan in the restaurant and Ryan on the bar were incredible. Most of the time the service was impeccable however breakfast on Sunday left a lot to be desired. Food was delicious and presented beautifully. The fire pits were stunning. Stay overall was lovely and would stay again.

Positive experience: The Spa is amazing, relaxing, so much to do. Just brilliant. Dinner, in the restaurant is phenomenal you can see why they’ve won AA Rosettes, however, they appeared to struggle to get the food out of the kitchen to the tables. Quite a few people were left waiting for dinner when we were there. Breakfast was an utter cluster, there were a couple of the waitresses who were trying to keep on top of everything, and a few who were plodding along. The food, again, when it finally came out was cold. There was obviously no one in charge, although one officious bloke in a tie wandering around but not doing a lot. Overall, there was clearly a lot of staff issues, which, if Fixed, could make this place really great! Ps, who ever is in charge of replying to reviews, you don’t need to waste your time with the standard response - yes I appreciate you thanking me for the feedback!

Fantastic experience: Been to this hotel over 20times now and it’s perfect for our family. Pool and spa are amazing and breakfast is one of the best I’ve had. Bar food is up and down and quite expensive so we tend to eat elsewhere. Kids love this place and they tiny dressing gowns, amazing it offers swimming floats for the little ones too

Fantastic experience: We stayed for the first time last weekend and it was amazing, great pool, great food, amazing customer service this hotel is a hidden gem with so much to do! The staff actually care and nothing is too much trouble this is rare to find in England! The pool has a beautiful aroma therapy smell instead of chlorine there is also two hot tubs outside with a garden area. The food is exceptional and all cooked In front of you in their outside kitchen when you have live music and can look out to their beautiful garden/forest. The rooms are perfect and have everything you need we had a family room and upon arrival there was even goodies left out for my son who is autistic so it made the transition very smooth. With regards to the spa it looked amazing but unfortunately was fully booked when I went so definitely book in advance. All of the shower products are from the white company so they do not scrimp on luxury. I could go on and on but the best thing to do is just book and see for yourself.

Positive experience: I enjoyed my time in the pool and SPA centre, the room was very good as well...I thought the Hotel's infrastructure pretty good. In overall I've really enjoyed my staying on Solent Hotel & Spa. However, I had a bad experience having dinner on Solent Restaurant (it took a lot of time to be seat and more time yet to be served...in addition, my beer came warm).

Fantastic experience: Stayed at the Solent for a two night family break. Lovely pool and spa which opens onto a lovely outdoor area with sun beds. Lovely in summer. There is also outside dining. Rooms are well equipped and fairly spacious. The front of the hotel looks a bit bland but the spa and very large garden area at the back (inc tennis) are really great. Staff were very pleasant and helpful

Positive experience: Lovely hotel with amazing green surroundings. The spa areas are lovely with adult only time through the weekend. The service was outstanding from everyone working there. The restaurant was a little bit of a let down unfortunately. Food was slow in coming out, they had run out of steak on a Saturday night and the fish we ordered was bone dry. The team (Sasha and Jake) did whatever they could to resolve the situation. Their service couldn't be faulted at all. Overall, a lovely cheeky stay away from London.

Positive experience: Was here for a wedding weekend and I have to say the experience laid on was great. Did find it a little weird to be mixing with other hotel guests in robes on a spa weekend when having to walk through the hotel to go outside for reception drinks. Everything ran smoothly and the food was really good! The hotel itself Is ok and the staff helpful and friendly. I would however be disappointed to book a relaxing spa break over the weekend to find a lot of the swimming pool to have kids there too. The rooms Please consider if not already on plan to freshen the rooms. I was thrown back to the 90’s decor and confused to find a telephone in the bathroom and shower over bath with the hideous shower curtain. At £150+ a night I don’t really expect a Corby Trouser press and mahogany furniture. Bed size at double only also far too small. Big positive fresh milk and Water

Fantastic experience: We had a lovely stay at The Solent hotel for our first year anniversary. The room was clean and spacious! The staff were so nice and the food was amazing. We didn’t want to leave at the end. We enjoyed the spa facilities also. We would highly recommend this to our loved ones. We drove 25 minutes to the Marwell zoo which was also very good. The area was nice too. Special thanks to Chloe who went above and beyond for us to have a good stay.

Negative experience: This was our third stay at Solent and although the two previous stays were fine this was anything but. We arrived around 7:40pm having had a long day travelling with two children the youngest who is 4 years old. We arrived at reception on Saturday night tired and ready for bed having been up since 5am. Instead we were met by 1 blonde receptionist who was neither warm or welcoming and who announced we'd already checked in. She then proceeded to ask us to wait looking dumbfounded and disappeared into the back room. Then along came the night manager a chinese lady who advised the hotel had made a mistake and our room had been given away to another guest who had a similar name. Whislt I enquired why they didn't match name against booking reference and do due diligence by checking identities after a 40 minute wait standing in reception the story was changed to the reservation was cancelled earlier in the day. This was not made by ourselves. Over an hour passed with us waiting and standing in reception with two inept staff members before we were finally given a room. One that had a broken valve on the towel rail with exposed live wires, grout missing around tiles in the bathroom and overlooking the carpark. We were treated rudely like a huge inconvenience to them and made to feel very unwelcome rather than returning loyal customers. No compensation or make good offered. We were advised the manager would make contact on Monday morning. That did not happen. We had dinner in the restaurant, the staff were clearly inexperienced and for two courses it took 2.5 hours having to leave the table several times to request it was cleared, ask for desert menus and then return to reception to pay the bill as restaurant staff were oblivious. All in all a poor stay and they've lost loyal customers. Won't be returning.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic, I’ve been rushing to get a chance to write the review and I’m currently sitting in the lobby doing so. Incredibly modern well laid out hotel, with beautiful furnishings and decor. Staff are incredibly pleasant and lovely from checking to waiting for breakfast/bar. The room is a great size again full of all the furnishings you would like with great decor, high water pressure, and a very comfortable mattress. we travelled with our son who is four years old and we were greeted to lots of little additions for him. A pack of crowns, juice, welcome cookie with his own plate and own cup. Cute little slippers that are for his size as well as the dressing gown for children. a very nice touch with a little bunny rabbit pouch with toiletries for him. we also had a great experience with the freshwater dispensers and fresh milk on every floor so you could help yourself great when making your own tea and coffee in the room, and wonderful for the water. And on the subject of refreshments, we have our own coffee machine with pods, as well as coffee and bags and a good assortment of teabags, and fancy shortbread biscuits. There’s nothing negative that I could comment on, we didn’t use the spa however it looked wonderful and we will certainly be using it when we come back. Very highly recommended

Fantastic experience: This hotel is fabulous. Everything is spotless the staff go above and beyond they are so helpful and cater well to kids. The breakfast is fabulous and a great selection choice the croissants are amazing! The spa is immaculate have nothing but good things to say. There is also a shopping mall, Tesco and a local shop all within 5 minute walking distance.

Fantastic experience: We went to the Solent Hotel & Spa today for a Spa day for my wifes birthday. I cannot rate the hotel highly enough. The Spa changing facilities were clean and modern, the pool was a lovely temperature and we even had our own private hot-tub for a small fee. This was followed by a superb lunch - all at a great price. Would recommend thoroughly for a Spa Day!

Fantastic experience: I booked a stay here for a work event being hosted there. I must say, I was very pleasantly surprised by the whole stay. The hotel was nicer inside than expected, the pool and sauna facilities were fab and the food was utterly delicious. One of the best things were the incredible staff who were all very friendly, helpful and professional- something that is all too often missing in hotels in my experience. I thought the value for money for everything was fab and I intend to return with my family when visiting friends this way in the future. Heartily recommend!

Positive experience: We were supposed to be having a "Spa break" it was far from that with children jumping into the pool when you go on a Spa break you expect some peace and quiet it's far from that. On the plus side the staff were helpful, and we liked the fact that you could get fresh milk and chilled water from the Despenser in the corridors. On a less positive note there was a missing light switch on the bedside lamp with potential to touch live wires? The shower was above the bath and my wife slipped trying to get in there was no bath mat or anything to say one was available. On Sunday morning breakfast it felt more like a creche with almost as many children as adults plus the service was very slow this was no reflection on our waitress who did her best, but it left a lot to be desired. I have no problem with Children or families but if we had known we wouldn't have chosen this hotel we booked through Secret Escapes and feel that there description of a Spa break is totally inappropriate for this hotel.

Positive experience: Good location, but lacking attention to detail in the housekeeping department. Asked for 2 rooms to be close by, given rooms on different floors. Fantastic experience: Booked for 10 year olds Birthday, as she really wanted to try a spa. We received a warm welcome on arrival at reception. The room was excellent, and the hotel went to the trouble of making Amber's first spa break memorable, with a birthday card, a birthday message in chocolate and some little bits to welcome her including her very own junior robe and slippers for the spa. Spa was excellent, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We made use of the bar and restaurant in the evening and for breakfast. Food was excellent and the staff and service were even more so. Thanks to the Solent Hotel and all its staff for making a 10 year olds birthday extra special. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel with excellent staff and facilities. A unique feature, which I have never seen elsewhere, was a fresh milk dispenser next to the water fountain. A small fridge and milk bottle was provided in the room together with a proper capsule coffee maker. This simple touch is a brilliant idea. No more UHT sachets or cartons.

Fantastic experience: Four of us had the pleasure of staying at the Solent Hotel and Spa, and our experience was excellent. Despite an initial complication at check-in, the staff and hospitality were welcoming and attentive. The waiters were extremely friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a great time. The rooms were lovely—comfortable, clean, and beautifully designed. I accidentally left my phone charger in the room when we checked out and only realized this once I got home. The hotel staff were fantastic and kindly posted it back to me. This is truly great customer service, and I will definitely return to the Solent Hotel and Spa.

Positive experience: Book some rooms for our daughter's wedding night and my son's girlfriend was able to go ,so phone to let them know that my son's room would have 2 people in it and the colleague said that's fine all you need to do is paid for breakfast, in which we did . Then the following day check out . The day after my son was charged for another night. I then phone to ask what has happened to get told that it wasn't me that phoned it was my son's girlfriend, which it wasn't, so I was called a liar ,so not happy at all . Still waiting for it to be sorted. Definitely won't be going again, sploit our beautiful daughter wedding stay . So make sure everything is right as I'm discussed with the situation

Negative experience: We stayed here for a weekend in April for my birthday. The hotel is quite nice. Facilities are good. However the AA Rosette restaurant was just mediocre. On our first night I had the steak, it was quite tough for a fillet cut! My husband dish was ok. On the second night my husband had the pasta. We could not believe the way it looked when it came out. The huge pile of pasta was just plonked onto the plate, it looked a mess. The chef couldn’t be bothered to clean the side of the plate. The meal could not have been serve in an AA Rosette place!!!

Negative experience: We were very disappointed with the hotel. All the staff were friendly and the welcome set for the children was very sweet. But the room smelled musty, the location right next to the elevator made us wake up several times every night, bath towels were full of other people's hair and make-up and the fact that the pool was only of limited use for children really spoiled our vacation. If we had known all this in advance, we would have chosen a different, more family and budget-friendly hotel. Unfortunately very disappointing for us and definitely not worth the price

Fantastic experience: Had a lovely time lounging by the pool. The sauna and steam room were nice and spacious. The hot tub was warm and very relaxing. My massage and exfoliating body scrub was incredible. The food was unreal! I had the seasonal risotto and it was absolutely delicious I highly recommend going here for a spa day! Pure bliss!

Positive experience: It’s considered one of the better hotels in the Portsmouth area, but I was not impressed nor happy with the hotel. Very old out of date, furniture and decor, the hotel was full yet seemed very outdated. I had problems with my first room, but was given a second. The food was not good at all.

Fantastic experience: Amazing service from Leah in the pool and spa tonight explained that the pool was closed and they did everything to fix but no problem for Lea she let us do a workout then offered a complimentary drink to apologise, more companies need to take a leaf out of Leah’s book

Fantastic experience: Really great hotel which I've stayed at a few times on buiness. All of the rooms have been of an equally high standard. The onsite gym is great with decent treadmills, rowing machine, WattBikes and free weights / machines. Nice touch with the swimming pool to relax though it's too short for a lane swimmer. Other bonus point is the Lavazza coffee machines in the rooms. Staff are also great across the various parts of the hotel and make it a pleasure to stay in such a lovely environment.

Fantastic experience: Thank you Solent Hotel and Spa for a fantastic family stay! We booked via the Peppa pig (Paultons Park) 2 day, 2 night offer and cannot rate it all highly enough! The hotel was the best we have stayed at in a long time. Immaculate hotel which is designed and decorated very tastefully and modern. Friendly staff who were all attentive and happy. Fantastic facilities, particularly the swimming pool which was a huge hit for our children during the family swim time, and again my husband and I took it in turns for a late night swim once the children were asleep which was very relaxing and calm. We had breakfast in the hotel both days which was of great quality and many options. 25 minutes drive to Peppa pig world which was well worth the journey for too! We definitely hope to be back again!

Fantastic experience: This was our second visit to The Solent, this time for our mini moon. We love it here so much. The staff can't do enough for you and the quality is superior. The spa facilities are brilliant, and this time we had the Soul Soother massage which left me feeling amazing afterwards. A 3 night stay to relax was exactly what we needed. The restaurant is a bit pricey but the food is so tasty and high quality.

Positive experience: Attended a Spa day here a few weeks ago to celebrate a close friend’s big birthday. The spa itself is beautiful, along with the treatments too. The spa staff are incredibly friendly and professional. However; being vegan, the afternoon tea was slightly disappointing. This consisted of three small sandwiches. Two were violife slices with a bit of pickle and one was a salad sandwich. My “scones” were small hard biscuits. I am anything but a chef, but I have made vegan scones that have been the size of my fists and a lot less dry too. I expected better to be honest. It wouldn’t take the chef much to Google a vegan scone recipe, make a batch and then freeze them. Then anyone who was either vegan or dairy free would be able to enjoy them. There are plenty of vegan sandwich fillings too. (Vegan cream ch’ese and cucumber/ hummus/ smashed avocado/ falafel with hummus and salad are a few examples) Other than that though, just for the spa facilities alone, I would return and thoroughly recommend.

Negative experience: Hotel needs updating and service needs working on. Breakfast isn't worth it especially if your vegetarians. You have to order off a menu and some basic things like avocado and Hash browns are extra charges (£5). You have to book breakfast as soon as you book toom otherwise you will be either left with really early slots like 7am or late ones after 10 so if you have bookings at nearby attractions it may mess things up or you will be left without breakfast! Room service is a joke, you literally have to ask for everything one by one. Change of towels, tea station top up, tissues etc. Check in was really slow unless you turn up way after 3pm. I would say hotel is highly priced for the service. BTW you have to pay to use the spa even if you're staying there. It's extra daily charge pp or per family.

Negative experience: Just been for afternoon tea as a treat for my friends 50th What an absolute disappointment. Stale sandwiches which when we asked they did bring fresh. Then the cakes were stale too. The worst afternoon tea I’ve ever had. Such a shame as this was meant to be a special occasion. Also the photo for afternoon tea is a stock photo. We had a brioche, a wrap and a bread roll. All rock hard and stale. Absolutely awful.

Positive experience: Visited here for a spa break with my friend. We were told check in was at 2pm, but when we arrived were told it was 3pm, when we checked back in, they housekeeping were short staffed so we had to wait another 20 minutes, but were offered a free drink which was nice. I had tried to book a treatment at the spa and called the number about 14 times with no luck, i then tried front desk and also never got through, luckily I managed to get a treatment when I went to the spa, but that was luck!

Negative experience: Dissappointing stay ☹️ Rooms not true to images on booking sites & our room was dated and tired. If you want to use the swimming pool, sauna and steam room you have to pay £10 each on arrival (in the small print) but the pool was crammed with families so didn't get to use it till after 6.30pm as went for a relaxing experience..... Breakfast has to be reserved in advance but still had to queue, then service was poor, waiting ages for tea, coffee and to make our order and let's say the toast was rather floppy and barely saw the toaster...

Negative experience: I am shocked that this is a 4 star hotel. I had awful service and I observed other guests having awful service throughout my whole stay. I was there for 5 nights so ate at the restaurant multiple times. 4 restaurant visits in a row, my food was brought wrong (including bringing me food I am intolerant to which I had made staff aware of multiple times). I observed 2 rooms complaining about having no hot water, 3 rooms complaining about having no heating, 1 couple who had booked a 4 course meal package in the restaurant that the staff had no idea even existed and 1 couple complaining about not getting early check in after booking it (who asked if they could at least get robes so they could use the spa while they waited - and were told no they couldn’t have a robe even though the check in mess up was the hotels fault - this summarised well how little the hotel staff were willing to listen and look after guests). And this was all from the odd 5 minutes here and there as I walked through reception. I made my concerns clear to reception about the restaurant and I wasn’t properly listened to at all, eventually they offered me a breakfast refund but it doesn’t cover the wasted time and frantic rush I had waiting on meals to be remade. And they didn’t note down any of my concerns or suggestions to actually make a change so I think the issues will continue. I only visited the spa once as it wasn’t relaxing, the days worth of glasses were piled round the loungers so it felt messy and unclean. The walls between bedrooms are so thin that I could hear the next room turning on and off their light switches. I wouldn’t waste your money on this place.

Fantastic experience: An unexpected visit as my usual hotel was booked. I often visit the area for work and always stay in the same place but I shall be looking to book here in future. Nicely presented rooms, comfortable and quiet. Some nice small touches such as milk and water refills, down pillows and very comfortable. Staff were very polite and helpful. I didn’t dine on the evening in the restaurant but the breakfast was very good. Clean and quiet throughout with a relaxed atmosphere. No complaints, great stay, exactly what was needed after a tiring day of travel. The only negative thing was I only stayed for one evening.

Fantastic experience: I stayed at the Solent Spa hotel last week, whilst on a training course nearby. A nice, comfortable, and spotlessly clean room The restaurant and bar were both very good, too but the best part of the hotel is their staff. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble and they were unfailingly helpful, friendly and polite. A real credit to the hotel. The swimming pool was an added bonus, and I was able to swim before breakfast each morning.

Positive experience: We came for the spa morning where you get access to the spa and a lunch. Before it got to 11 the pool had so many kids in so make sure you book the adult only times if you want to relax. The free coffee and tea was a nice touch, you're provided with slippers and a really cosy dressing gown/towel. Changing rooms are modern and nice. It got really busy about 12 and people turned up and there was nowhere to sit, they had to sit outside (it's February bear in mind). I felt like they crammed too many people in, all of the deckchairs were pushed into the corner and you had to stay at your chair the whole time if not someone else would take it. I think they need to look at limiting numbers as it felt quite awkward Food was nice and the servers were lovely.

Positive experience: Spa hotel. Pleasant well furnished rooms, but rated 4 stars as no plugs near the bed at all, in this day and age people want to charge their electronics at night not over the otherwise of the room. Location is good and handy for local business park. Staff pleasant and helpful.

Positive experience: Had an ok time. Was charged twice for my room. When I questioned this at the desk the receptionist was dismissive and said they hadn't charged me twice. Had to call up after my visit after it had come off my credit card to get the money back. Makeup stained robe in the room wasn't great, they did replace this but took time away from enjoying the spa. Phone in the room didn't work and one of the bedside lights. Dinner was great with a wide variety of gluten free and veggie/vegan options. Wouldn't visit again based off of the dismissing staff and things not being right in the room.

Negative experience: Unfortunately our stay was clouded by a substandard room with no heat and in disrepair. To add insult injury, staff were aware that Junior Suites were in this state, having not been refurbished when other rooms had, yet did nothing to avoid customer disappointment...frankly poor show.

Positive experience: Christmas dinner was somewhat lackluster without decent slices of turkey and plenty of veg as one might expect for the very high price paid. The turkey roll with stuffing inner and under cooked bacon outer didn't give us much real meat. Portions of veg on a fished up plate were minimal. I've paid less than a third and had better meals elsewhere...won't return...
