Negative experience: The staff (Ben) refused to reschedule the session when my son got high temperature on the day. He asked for 24hrs notice which is not possible when your kid goes to bed fine and wakes up with fever. Very shocked to see this behaviour from him.

Fantastic experience: I have started swimming here recently (haven't been since the old building was there) and I am so impressed! Lovely staff, very clean and well designed changing rooms and the pool is perfect. I like to do evening swims which is usually quite quiet, perfect for me as I am particularly sensitive to noise and crowds. It is all very well kept and I like the QR code check in! Not sure if that is just for members but I like it.

Negative experience: Too busy, and charging extortionate pricing

Negative experience: I went there for swimming at 7 pm tonight and the young lady from the reception said that the swiming pool is closed until 9 pm. I looked trough the window and there was lots of people in on the swiming area. So they clearly didn't want to let me in. Very rude and unprofesional.

Positive experience: Watch out for the accountants! I signed up with the gym a month ago and updated my membership to include the Health Suite a week later. Initial payments were made via debit card and Places Leisure then added two Direct Debits to my bank account. I waited to see which DD would be used so I could then cancel the other. Today I received text messages and emails notifying me that I'm being charged an admin fee and all the doom and gloom that'll be coming my way if I don't catch up my account, even though Harlands and Places Leisure have already taken the funds for this month. Unfortunately, no one responded to my email back to them so I called up and the agent had it sorted in a few minutes. It turned out there was a miscommunication between Harlands and Places Leisure when I upgraded my membership. A shame the accounts team apply a little reasoning before adding these charges and prompting me to write this review!

Fantastic experience: Great parking and lots to do inside

Fantastic experience: Play and bounce is great fun for young children. The equipment is clean and well set out. This week especially, the staff member was very attentive at monitoring the door which is reassuring when you have more than one child with you.

Fantastic experience: Really good skating, cafe and clip and climb. Nice space to be in. We travel from Fleet since our local leisure centre doesn't offer what we need.

Negative experience: First time I took my 11 month old grandson to Soft play. The baby section is up to 3 years old. I was left unimpressed by what was available for him to play with. And older children 5, 6 + years old were in there too, throwing themselves on the floor and running around. It wasn't safe at all for the little ones and the area is NOT SUPERVISED! This is not OK from a health and safety risk!

Negative experience: Absolutely poor, attended on two occasions swimming with my child, water was cold, no access to full pool, no splash land told I couldn’t cancel more than once despite illnesses, and cancelled well in advance - emailed centre about this couldn’t be bothered to reply! £12 wasted. Definitely wouldn’t recommend or will be returning. A Money making centre who can’t provide the actual full activity.

Negative experience: I went in leisure camberley for swimming on 3rd of September there was a very rude lady life guard . I don’t feel comfortable so it’s not good for me. Thank you

Fantastic experience: Really enjoy being a member at Places. I use the gym predominantly for the Les Mills exercise classes (usually bodypump and bodycombat) and they have helped me to lose all my extra weight after having my baby 8 months ago. Feel fitter and slimmer than I have done in years thanks to the great instructors and motivating classes.

Negative experience: Kids swimming lessons can be hit or miss depending on the teacher - the first one we had didn't update the app, meaning our daughter got stuck in a class way below her ability, unable to move up because apparently she hadn't demonstrated the skills required. We queried this and got excuses about the app not updating, but after complaining, she was evaluated by another teacher and moved up. We were offered vouchers to compensate - but 2 months and many emails later - still not received. Second teacher has been great though!

Positive experience: Joined here a few months ago for the gym and so far, it's been great. Decent amount of available equipment which are all high quality and well-maintained. However, I've found the gym to be pretty busy for most hours of the day (generally, the late-morning to early afternoon will be quieter though). Plenty of parking (don't forget to register your license plate at the reception), and the on-site Costa is a nice place to grab a snack and/or do some work. Staff are also friendly. Haven't given 5 stars because I've yet to try out the other facilities. Will update this review once I get round to that.

Negative experience: Staff unhelpful and blunt. No one is ever at the gym ensuring safety. Receptionists unbothered and unhelpful

Positive experience: Softplay, swimming, aqua obstacle course, and this awesome rock climbing area with auto belays. Plus gym etc. Car park is free for customers, and tbh it's all quite reasonably priced. Downsides are it can be a bit busy, but the bit issue is the Costa gives out single use disposable cups by default and the recycling bin isn't well posted so most people landfill bin it.

Fantastic experience: Great experience with the kids with a play sprinkling fountains area. reasonable prices. It has a Costa too. Parking free if you register your number at check in. Well done Camberley !

Negative experience: Great place and everything is clean and looks brand new. The team at the reception are absolutely lovely - always smiling and ready to help with any issues. My problem was with the swimming lessons. I joined in the beginner class having previously had private 1:1 lessons. I didn’t really feel like I made any progress from the lessons (any progress I made was from attending the Just Swim sessions and practicing on my own). I had to give up my membership and the lessons as they were pointless. The instructor spent half the time chatting to another instructor and focused more on those students who were doing well and progressing them. When I asked how my swimming was going the instructor said they hadn’t been looking or watching as they were observing the others. This is not what I wanted to hear, I didn’t attend these lessons for free and expect to be given a good service when I’m paying £49 a month. This was the icing on the cake and I stopped the lessons as it was a waste of my money when the instructor isn’t giving me any attention or helping me improve. I shouldn’t even have to ask how I’m doing. Money down the toilet.

Fantastic experience: Value for money. Not the best soft play but half the price of the rest. Nice and clean and well looked after. Free parking for 4 1/2 hours. Make sure to put your reg in at the touchscreen to the left of the reception. Soft play is over 4 stories, slides, trampolines, ropes and much more. Great fun for the kids. Also has a little toddler area too.

Positive experience: Nice place, customer service at Costa is great, flooring isn't the cleanest, you would expect a few spills, you have an open pool for public at times, and you can have climbing session. Good and fun place for when you are bored.

Fantastic experience: Good facility. Very nice gym. Courts are good (lights and floor) except the curtain at the centre (white colored, not good when you play badminton ) 2 pools (one 20m training pool which is depth adjustable and a 25m main pool) Trainig staffs are good. Has a nice food court, but the costa closes at 6:30. Don't forget to check in for your free car parking or you'll get a £60 parking ticket

Fantastic experience: I visited Places Leisure Camberley and thrilled to give a review for Phoebe. I was with my godson who is not the strongest swimmer but gets by in the water. As we walked by the poolside we were greeted by Phoebe and kindly asked my godson if he alright, then was talking about PAW Patrol which was the swimsuit he was wearing. I think she picked up that he was nervous and the distraction helped to make him feel more at ease. Phoebe said she thinks he will enjoy the Family Fun session and only by the poolside, so happy to help. This was comforting for my godson to feel welcomed knowing he was in a safe environment. We both had a lovely time and plan to come back again this month. Phoebe is an exceptional lifeguard who went above and beyond in their duties. It’s clear on her dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of all swimmers is truly remarkable. Thank you Phoebe and what an absolute credit to your team.

Negative experience: Children’s soft play has to be booked in advance which it does not say on website. One very disappointed toddler today. Especially having had to carry her quite some distance from rear car park. Not a good experience I’m afraid.☹️

Fantastic experience: Had a fabulous class tonight with Hazel at Zumba her energy is phenomenal. The whole class absolutely loved her There was such a buzz.. she is fantastic.. Camberley is a great facility with excellent staff.. it is Clean with a vibrant atmosphere.. excellent gym and sauna facilities a big pool and definitely lots for the kids to do great lunch as well.

Positive experience: I only went here to pick up my granddaughter from a children's party. It was very busy and a bit muddled.

Fantastic experience: Great experience at this brand new gym. Free parking, lovely large family changing rooms and a brilliant splash pad for the toddlers. Well worth a swim alone. There is also a state of the art climbing wall and soft play for the little ones. Well worth a visit.

Positive experience: Lovely facility... Good lockers, excellent group classes and a good swimming pool. Most importantly, the app works like magic and car parking steps are sorted as well. Glad we made it here as members!

Positive experience: The organisation of cleaning the softplay between groups was diabiolical. The under 3 section had children of 6/7 in there playing around the babies. Pricing was good.

Fantastic experience: Kids loved it and i enjoyed my Costa coffee watching them having fun. It was also good to be able to pop in to the play area and support the kids if they wanted us.

Positive experience: Used the health suite at the end of the day. A nice relaxing area, two steam rooms, heated loungers, and two saunas, the saunas definitely need a deep clean, they don't smell great. Showers, changing rooms and facilities were nice. I didn't see any blue paper towels mentioned in a previous review, everything seemed acceptable to me considering it was the end of the working day (10pm). I would go again, next time for at least 2hrs.

Positive experience: Website is impossible to book.Spent 20 minutes looking to book softplay but it won’t simply take me to the next available times

Negative experience: I have been a member here for over a year now and I visit 4-5 times per week. When I first started I loved it, clean and well managed. I pay the full membership to use the health suite and I felt it was totally worth it. Unfortunately the last few months it seems to be going downhill hygiene wise. I no longer use the swimming pool as it’s quite unclean and the changing rooms I use are upstairs, but the pool is downstairs, therefore if you want to change you have to walk downstairs in your swim gear to the pool, and back up again soaking wet. I feel quite awkward walking down in front of so many people in the main foyer! I use the gym regularly which is great, the staff are amazing and there is always equipment available. My main complaint is the health suite. What once was a relatively relaxing experience is no longer pleasant. The showers are never clean, they are full of hair and this remains for days. The floors are so slippery, people regularly slip over on hard tiles in the sauna area, and I have never once seen a member of staff come in to wipe the water off the floors. Staff rarely inspect the health suite so this means we have some quite young members in there, who shouldn’t be due to age restrictions! I once made a complaint about a young boy who was in the health suite, having an argument on the phone with his girlfriend and playing loud music. He was quite obviously underage and being very aggressive. Manager merely asked him to keep the noise down, no request to leave to spa area. The area is no longer cleaned. I placed a piece of blue paper towel on the floor on 3rd January. Today is 26th January and the same piece of paper is still there. The sauna is unclean, full of hair and dust around the seating area. People use essential oils etc in them which sets off my asthma. Despite complaints, nothing has changed. People also use the facilities wearing their gym gear, or underwear instead of swim wear. Again, the health suite is not manned and is becoming quite a disgusting and unpleasant experience. Give it a good scrub Camberley!

Negative experience: I have a places swim plus membership allowing me to use all there leisure centers and yet they wanted me to pay 15 pounds for using sauna and steamroom when that's part of my membership in Dover /Whitfield .. how a franchise doesn't have a set feature I don't get .. total blag

Fantastic experience: Places leisure are such a great asset to camberley and so helpful. They have the best instructors and the staff are so helpful.

Positive experience: Very pleasant sports centre. The pool can get a bit crowded but (top tip) look online on their website to see how busy it is.

Fantastic experience: Amazing facilities at the vibrant leisure centre. The instructors are elite, highly recommend Box Fit, hot yoga and Body Combat. The health suite is well worth the extra as you get heated loungers, salt sauna and citrus steam as well as the standard versions. It gives a trip the gym a spa like feel after a workout. The pool is Olympic sized so you can comfortably swim regardless of your ability. And everyone, staff and patrons, are super friendly.

Negative experience: Costa coffee maintained poorly . Some of the staffs are rude .

Positive experience: A really good leisure centre with excellent facilities....BUT have never known a place to have so many issues with the fire alarm! So many times have had to abandon classes/pool and shiver outside

Negative experience: Used to love coming here but misstyping a number on their car parking validation system has cost me £100!!! despite proof of the bounce and play session that i attended on the appeal. There is no way to contact the car park company even if they send corrupted files in response to your appeal ‍♀️ i will miss coming here but cannot risk that kind of fine.

Negative experience: We are working with Young People with Learning Disabilities and Autism, we are trying to book our individuals for swimming, but these people do not bother themselves to pick up their phone. They are messing up with people. SHAME ON YOU CAMBERLEY PLACES LEISURE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Fantastic experience: First time here and just wanted to say a big thanks to a lady called Mariana in the Costa coffee who made my morning and found out later she is also a swimmimg teacher. I asked her for directions and she could have just told me but she was so kind to come with me and show me the way and when she found out it's my first time she welcomed me to the place. There should be more people like Mariana. Thank you! And my 3 yo totally enjoyed her first swimming experience.

Fantastic experience: I LOVE this place. Who would have thought that an amorphous, large, 'leisure centre' would be so friendly and personal? Fantastically led by Charlie at the reception desk, costa coffee barista's, studio trainers, gym coaches, even swimming pool attendants ..everyone so kind, smiley and helpful.

Positive experience: Great local gym; good range of equipment, classes and extra facilities. Feels like value for money. Always seems clean and staff are helpful. My only gripe is the timing of under-18s gym sessions which run until 5.30pm, 5 days a week. This means kids are often crowding the gym at peak time for adults. Doesn't seem to be managed by staff, often see groups of kids staying later than the session time. Would be great if the timings/frequency of this could be re-assessed to help the evening crowding for working adults.

Fantastic experience: There are so many activities packed into this leisure centre. We go swimming there. The pool has two swimming pools. The training pool has a moveable floor to change depth which shocked me when I first got in, after having seen my son waist height at swimming lessons haha. They have the clip and climb fun climbing area. You get a harness, some quick training and then have time to climb to your hearts content. Lots of fun shaped climbing walls. We took the children to this and they enjoyed it but on the first visit they only got about 1m off the ground. They are very young so I guess it's a huge height for them haha. They improved the next time so it will be a practice thing. We are constantly walking past the gym, all sort of fitness classes, dance lessons, football classes, all sorts. We have even attended birthday parties in the rooms upstairs. Basically whatever you fancy is there. The area has a costa cafe which is always busy. Free parking for customers (make sure you register your reg on the tablets near the reception desk). The entrance for the main activities are QR controlled security gates and the office staff are always around, friendly and happy to help with any queries. All in all a great place.

Negative experience: Called many times for swimming lessons, left messages and no one gets back. Really bad service.

Negative experience: Very disappointed of the services, staff attitude is regrettable. This is a money factory, no consideration of age or needs! I would not revisit using their swimming lessons for kids! No one is available at least for a discussion, I was told that the manager is going to contact me later, never happened! Now no one is picking up my calls!

Negative experience: Trying to cancel a contract with this company is almost impossible. We have to provide a proof of residence for moving to cancel the contract. The wanted a utilizes bill, it has taken 2 months to get one for our new address. We have cancelled our DDM as well. Because we cancelled the DDM BEFORE we gave them proof of our new address their view is we still have a co Tracy even though we rang to cancel. This means we have been charged for this period even though we have not used the facilities. We have also been charged another £21 admin. fee as well. BEWARE these people are very difficult to deal with and very difficult to cancel.

Positive experience: Lovely pool but lane swimming timetable on the weekend is rubbish, basically non existent

Positive experience: the swimming time table favours school kids but overall it's dope the rock climbing is a dirty trick to upgrade your membership

Positive experience: Only been climbing but lots of free parking as long as you register your car in the foyer area. Costa inside but can be busy.

Fantastic experience: Went to the climbing wall with my daughter. She had a great time. Event was very well structured and the time you get for £15 is very reasonable. You get parking up to 4.5 hrs free I think, but certainly do what I did and pay for parking before you get in there.

Fantastic experience: Came for clip and climb with my Granddaughter. Impressive centre. Pre climbing safety film to watch, and harness fitted by staff member. My Granddaughter loved the whole thing. Lots of different climbs to try and a very impressive safety line used, with a fall arrester, making climbing very safe. Staff are very well trained, helpful and friendly. A special mention for friendly Callum, who went out of his way to help us connect and disconnect the fall arrester line. Will be coming again with my Granddaughter and we will both be climbing. I highly recommend clip and climb, such a great confidence builder especially for young children.

Negative experience: Do not use this swimming pool. First of all we booked a family pool event with inflatables. What a load of rubbish. My child spent more time standing around than enjoying herself. You can't use the pool if your not going on the inflatable. The facility absolutely reeks of effluent. Even in the main swimming pool area which gives me concerns over the quality of the water. Staff were unhelpful. The whole thing was completely underwhelming. Do not waste your money.

Fantastic experience: Loved it! Went there a few hours ago for the first time and had a great time.. I attended the hot yoga class (12.30 class) and enjoyed it.. the teacher was welcoming and kind, not many of us, plenty of mats and accessories avaiable but probably better to take your own ones if you go during a busy time.. reception lady was very friendly and helpful, quick process to buy my entrance to the health suite (I stayed between 2pm- 3.30pm but you have no time limit).. facilities looked clean, plenty of lockers, showers, a couple of changing rooms..they provide hairdryers too.. health suite's got 2 steam rooms and two saunas plus relaxation area where you can lie down a bit and obviously showers and tap water if you need to drink.. again not many people around which was great! There's a costa next to the entrance if you want to grab a coffee.. you need to register for parking if I'm not wrong (wasn't driving).. overall great place, I'll definitely be back!!

Fantastic experience: I’m a member at Wokingham but can use places camberley as part of my membership… great facilities, very clean and very efficient staff with Emma at the front of house so polite and professional

Positive experience: Attended an active tots session with friends on a Thursday morning, great welcome and lovely atmosphere with various things to do, including a bouncy castle with slide, and ride-ons/scooters. All children there had a really good time. The lady that runs it is fabulous with the kids, from babies to the older tots.

Negative experience: Popped in today (21st May) to enquire about membership. Even though there was two members of staff at the desk and another member of staff chatting to one of the two behind the desk and another member of staff had just walked off I was told by the young man on reception that I could not be shown around to look at the facilities nor could I go around on my own to look at the facilities. Oh well.

Positive experience: Friendly place. Busy. Good parking. Lots of activities. Unfortunately they do not participate in the half price booking when having a full membership, which is a shame. Probably would be a lot busier if they did.

Fantastic experience: Always a pleasure to visit and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Would like to see taster sessions for the Clip and Climb for the kids but understand this is a separate enterprise running within the centre.
