Fantastic experience: We are from Swindon and booked 3 nights here. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was yummy with lovely croissants. Our room was cleaned perfectly with fresh towels each day and new tissues for my never ending cold! Parking was great and it was easy access to the city. Thank you for a great break

Negative experience: My son and I stayed here on a Monday night. Booked through booking.com and were allocated room number 1 on arrival. If you are given this room, ask for to be changed. Anyone that comes up via the stairs instead of the lift, opens the door to the hall, which causes the door of number 1 to bang. The room had only 1 bed which was comfy but that is the only good thing about the room. The room smells damp & fusty. Electric heater under the window which makes room smell worse. Window opened to rid of smell but as it is at front of the hotel, the main road never stops all night! So lots of traffic noise. Good clean shower but water not warm and had to dry myself with a hand towel as no bigger towels! Seriously? Ventured down to the pool but there were 5 people in it already and it was tiny and my son didn't fancy it. Gym looked OK if a bit out of date. We had our evening meal there and although the steak and burger were both quite good, there wasn't much choice. Also £25 for a sirloin steak isn't cheap with sides extra. The hotel is in a good location if you want to walk to the town or the river and see the homeless set up in their tents alongside the river bank sadly. Staff weren't very friendly and didn't explain or promote breakfast offering, times or even the WiFi code.

Negative experience: Room No 27. Very small. No shelves or cupboards in the bathroom or small bedroom. Had to put everything on the floor. Net curtains dirty. View from window was disgusting! Had to go out and buy teaspoons because only sticks provided. No glass in the bathroom. Comfortable beds and lovely staff. Have sent a PM on Facebook and also emailed and asked to be forwarded to manager. Haven’t heard anything!!!

Positive experience: Stayed for 1 night on a business trip. I booked room only and arrived late. I was welcomed warmly by the receptionist who checked me in quickly and gave clear directions to my room. First impressions of the hotel were good. Car park was busy when I arrived but not full. My room was clean and a pleasant surprise after a long day. Sleep quality was very good - comfortable bed with great facilities. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying within the Nottingham area. There was a great looking bar and restaurant facility, as well as a gym and pool. I didn’t try either of these but if I stay again I will make a point of coming prepared. They looked clean and very inviting!

Fantastic experience: We held my mum's wake here on the 6th of March 2024. I pre booked with Chris, Chris was a star he set the room out very good and the food was great too. Thank you for a great day to send my mum off.

Negative experience: Such a bad experience! In this piece of a dump by a noisy road with food services with outraging prices they can’t provide a room that even has a stable drying rack for the towels, no loo brush, and room keys that had to be reset everyday. The rooms are all to hot in early spring and it is so loud from the road and people walking in corridors, I got no sleep. More over as a pro junior athlete I was not even able to use their gym! The only good thing is the nachos and WiFi

Positive experience: I tried to buy crisps despite the bar being closed and when I was told I couldn’t, I asked if they did room service i was told no they didn’t. I was so hungry I had to leave which isn’t a 4* service I’ve experienced anywhere else. Middle class problem. But hunger is hunger.

Positive experience: The setting is perfect with a bus stop right outside and free parking at the back. They need to do something about the heating which is so high that it was really difficult to sleep.

Fantastic experience: The Beeches provided the perfect setting and finger buffet food for refreshments for mourners after our father's funeral. We were given professional assistance throughout from Chris. Thank you at such a difficult time.

Positive experience: I stay here for the location, close to Trent Bridge with easy access to the river and plenty of parking out back. The room was spacious and comfortable and had what I needed for a night’s stay. Breakfast was tasty, a hot buffet breakfast with the usual cereals and drinks. The gym is well equipped and there’s a small pool too. I have stayed here many times and recommend it.

Positive experience: Stayed here for a week in November 2023. The hotel is small, but well run, rooms are cozy and clean, but there's a really bad damp smell in the corridor we were staying in around rooms 5 - 9. A nice breakfast on offer, but not much to look forward to on the dinner menu. Overall, a decent place, with good rates, nice facilites and a comfortable stay.

Positive experience: Our room was of reasonable size with good sized wardrobe, en-suite and bed. Decor was a tad in need of a refresh including the mouldy bottom of net curtains. My main gripe was the noise of the air-con unit outside. This may not be same in other rooms. We had a meal on our first night and the food was good and not over priced.

Positive experience: Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Loo roll holder on wrong way dusty cupboard , stains on carpet , Walls very thin could hear everything. Breakfast was faultless though.

Fantastic experience: On entering place was clean and well kept, modern and colour brilliant. Stayed for 1 night. Room and meals were fantastic. All friendly staff. Only downfall would have to be no heating in our room but had a lovely stay. Many thanks to the staff there.

Positive experience: I'd recommend personally booking a room at the back, as the road outside is relentless and has a constant flow of traffic, noisy with and without window open.. Off road parking is free, staff seem mostly friendly, decent clean room, seems to be serviced daily. Small but nice basic spa and gym. Pretty good food in the restaurant, breakfast is extra cost £12 something to consider when booking. Has WiFi.

Sophia 2 years ago

Positive experience: Receptionist was helpful and friendly. The room was clean but quite small. There was a long black hair on my pillow, only half a roll of lavatory paper in the bathroom and the sheets didn't come to the top of the bed (so you could see the mattress....I have an absolute aversion to that). The main road is right outside and it's incredibly noisy and continuous traffic. The bar is well stocked and breakfast is very good. Suggestions...get fitted under sheets. Put other drink sachets in the rooms (eg drinking chocolate or herbal teas). There were two of us and only one little pack of biscuits (two ginger nuts)...have a selection of a few.

Positive experience: This hotel has some really great points, and then unfortunately some super, super bad points. I have stayed here twice now, so the below is a combination of my stays. The Good The staff all seemed nice, you get a good welcome and often seen chatting to guests. The gym and pool are both really good. The rooms are nicely decorated, beds are comfy It’s in a really good location in a nice part of Nottingham. The breakfast was nice. The Bad If you get allocated room 35 asked to be moved immediately, it is directly above the kitchen fan which makes an ALMIGHTY noise. It starts at 06:45 and runs until about 22:00. When I raised this with reception in my first stay it was met with a very odd reaction - almost a faux surprise - but I am genuinely shocked that they can sell this room. I am a heavy sleeper and have stayed in some questionable hotels in my time - but this was too much for me. It is loud and constant. For my second stay I actively asked not to be in this room. I was allocated room 31, which was close (you could still hear the noise but it definitely wasn’t as intrusive) but it was a single box room (and I mean a box room) - which is what I booked, but on reflection it didn’t really match up to the price. The Ugly For me, there were a few small details that could easily be fixed that really had a negative effect on my stay. The rooms at the back of the hotel are through a bit of a maze to get there, but they are signposted well - but when you leave your room there is no signposts to get back to reception and plenty of opportunities to go the wrong way. Not the end of the world, but annoying and easily fixable. In the shower there is no shelf to put anything on. Again, not the end of the world but a negative impact on my experience. There is no toilet brush for the toilet. It’s an ok experience, if a little over-priced, but with some very small adjustments it could be so, so much better - and stop selling room 35.

Positive experience: Fairly accessible by key roads to the motorway, The Beeches are a homely hotel, bar and restaurant all rolled into one. The night staff were friendly and welcoming. Too late to sample the restaurant provisions but the soft bed, room, and bathroom were all clean and just ready for us. WiFi is available for guests which is great. Also a TV and pressing iron and tea or ☕ coffee which made it relaxing. The shower has nice temperature control so you easily set your water heating to your liking. It is easy to scald yourself so a notice on the wall serves as reminder. Much of the hotel has a plumpy carpet and lift access to your room. In the reception area, a small bookshelf has some reads from the likes of Richard Hammond and others. Thank you for the night.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful place to stay while visiting family in Nottingham - will def go again.

James Knight 2 years ago

Positive experience: Nice experience, great pool, sauna, and spa. Some of the primary gym equipment is outdated, and they charge £50pcm for gym membership, though, free of guests. Reception staff are immensely helpful and friendly. Breakfast is £10 and minimal with little to desire in terms of healthy options; therefore, I chose to buy a nice chunky microwave porridge and loose banana from the local supermarket for £2 and was more satisfying. First night Fish and Chips at £16. The dish looked amazing in terms of presentation. The fish was deep fried and disgusting, however, the chips were great, and I left the fish. The second night, I chose the fish platter £16, thinking an awesome healthy dish would be a nice treat, not at all. The whole plate was deep fried, and I could smell the heart attack fat oozing from the plate. I rejected the dish sharing that it should have been listed on the menu as a deep-fried plate of food. This was not charged to my final bill. I ate out at Zaap Thai for £12..Amazing, healthy food.

Positive experience: The lady working on reception late afternoon early evening has anger issues. It's the elder lady, her face goes tomato red when she is angry. Needs to learn basic manners and interpersonal skills. It's not great feeling when you're faced with that as soon as you walk in. Really intimidating too. Great facilities is why you got a 3.

Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel ,lovely rooms all up dated clean and fresh ,friendly staff but the breakfast let us down not up to standard bacon and sauces were hard ,sunny side egg was not runny. Yes we would come back again.

Positive experience: Beds and pillows are comfy and slept well. Broken light on bathroom mirror. Electric sockets too far from one of the beds and 2 of the mirrors. Room was warm enough. Did find a packet of paracetamol on the room floor from a previous guest. Food was delicious. I would stay here again.

Robert Hurley 2 years ago

Positive experience: It was overpriced for what is was. £320 for a single split for 2 nights and breakfast. The breakfast is your basic fair with pretty poor food quality considering it cost £18 per person. The pints at the bar were £7. And when the whole hotel was woken up at 7:30 by the fire alarm all staff did was day "sorry" and shrugged. The pool, spa and gym are also very basic with a sauna. To be honest I came here because I wanted a bit more luxury than a travel lodge. I really should be booked that and saved myself £150 quid.

Fantastic experience: I had my father’s wake here. The staff were so kind and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I cannot thank them enough for their attention to detail and their consideration. I’ve lived round the corner to the Beeches for many years now, but unfortunately haven’t been there until now. The food was perfect as was the service. I would highly recommend. Thank you again.

Nicole Gambles 2 years ago

Positive experience: The room wasn't very comfortable and I wouldn't class it as a 4 star to be honest. Toiletries were rationed and the bed wasn't comfortable. The room was also up so many stairs, which would be an issue for anyone with mobility issues Mould all over the windows and such a warm room. Makes no sense to have the radiators full blast but yet have the windows open? The spa and bar was fine, think is what brings the hotel up to 4 star to be honest. Reception staff could do with some customer service training, the brunette lady didn't once wish us well to enjoy our stay nor ask how it was when we checked out, otherwise we would have highlighted these issues at check out. I've worked in hospitality for 15 years and I just felt the experience was poor for a 4 star if I'm honest. Quite close to city centre and the spa is the only thing going for this place, we may have just been unlucky with a cheap room but I wouldn't have paid nearly £100 for a poor night's sleep and not enough loo roll.

Fantastic experience: I have had the most pleasant stay here. The room was spacious, clean and well decorated. The gym is very well equipped and the spa is tranquil and a really beautiful space. A couple of chairs in the spa would make it even better! Meals in the restaurant were absolutely delicious, I didn't have breakfast though so can't comment on that. The best things is that every single member of staff I came into contact with was incredibly welcoming, professional and attentive. I really needed a nice relaxing day and evening and you definitely came up trumps for me. Thank you, I will be back for sure.

Negative experience: I stayed at the hotel on Friday night and visited the restaurant. After sitting down to order, a waitress came over and informed me her manager had asked me to remove my cap. My first question is why he'd sent a young girl over to ask a guest a rather uncomfortable question whilst he sits behind his desk watching the cameras in the back room - something a real manager/leader should do themselves? Secondly, after walking over to reception to ask for clarity on why I was being asked to remove my cap when I was dressed smartly, I was told "it's just policy" I informed him I was on a date and wasn't comfortable removing my cap due to hair loss, to which he replied "well then you'll have to sit somewhere else" So we decided to leave and go and dine somewhere else. I have just got back from 5 weeks of travelling around Europe, where I ate at some amazing restaurants in Europes biggest cities, and not once was I asked to remove my cap. So it felt strange to be asked in a hotel in West Birdgeford that actually looks like it needs some renovating. The carpets probably do more damage to the appearance than me wearing a cap...

Fantastic experience: The room we booked was spacious given that it had a separate study room from the sleeping area, with an extra TV. This was very convenient as I was able to stay up late and do my research without disturbing my husband. The staff members were very polite, pleasant and professional in delivering customer service. Breakfast was good and to our taste. The location was a bit tricky as we weren't expecting the hotel to be tucked in between residential properties, which led to us missing the signboard and as such the hotel. That was just a minor issue as we located the property soon after getting lost. We have been in a few hotels in Nottingham. This will be our hotel of choice from now on as it ticks all the boxes in terms of our personal preferences. Keep up the good work!!!

Negative experience: Having booked the Beeches hotel and spa for my wife’s birthday I thought it would be a good idea and a treat with the use of the free spa. At least once a month we go to a hotel with spa facilities so as you can image we have been to quite a few in and around the Nottingham area. The staff are very friendly and attentive but on arrival after checking in we decided to go straight to the jacuzzi and sauna. There was a sign saying that the water had just been changed and would take some time to get to an acceptable temperature, so we decided to go in the sauna for a while and wait. After a short while we decided to try again but it was still freezing. I decided to go for a swim but that was freezing as well, and at that stage is when a fitter came through the pool area to fix the jacuzzi apparently. After that disappointing start we then decided to go to the bar and try to find out what was on the menu for dinner at night then to be told that half the menu wasn’t available as there is a problem with the gas supply so we had to goto a local eatery for dinner. The following morning we went down stairs for breakfast which was very nice but half way through our conversation was drowned out by workmen hammering the life out of a wooden frame. My wife and I just looked at each other and couldn’t believe it. So the hotel is very nice the rooms are very clean and the staff are good BUT after serious consideration we would not stay here again. Kindest Regards Mr Strafford

Fantastic experience: This hotel was wonderful. There was a conveniencestore 20yd away and another 100yd was the river Trent. Trent Bridge, Meadow Lane and the City Ground are a 10min walk away. There is a large free car park, outdoor seating, a swimming pool, gym and spa onsite. Full use is included in the room price. The room had a good hospitality tray and the bed was comfy. There was a hairdryer, iron and board provided. The food was amazing. I don't usually eat an evening meal where I stay but I ate here both evenings and enjoyed every bit. Breakfast was a buffet and there was lots to choose from. The barman/waiter was great and we had a good laugh. I'd definitely stay again.

Fantastic experience: A little gem of a hotel. Well positioned within 10 mins walk of a vibrant night scene and a short taxi ride to the city centre. The hotel is clean, professionally run with comfortable rooms that have all you need. The spa is on the small side but we’ll decorated and ideal for some leisure time. The breakfast is a bonus and they are happy to cater for any vegans in the party. The jewel in this particular crown is the staff, all that we came I contact with were pleasant, courteous and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again

Positive experience: Spa was worth the stay Staff weren't as helpful and professional, expect the male receptionist/at the bar(that calls you ma'm, has good attitude, work ethic and customer service). Breakfast didn't have much choice, bacon and sausage both days, beans, Eggs and cereal. the receptionist wasn't there early in the evening when I was attempting to check in after a long day. Rang them, no answer. At the breakfast, I wasn't welcomed at the entrance or pointed to the 'buffet', even though the sign said wait to be seated. Had to go back to reception and ask. Asking for cups, I've been told they're on the tables, just take ond-having to inspect whether they're clean or not. . More effort required from staff and management for a 4star hotel. Spa was good temperature and wasn't as busy in the evenings.

Positive experience: Visited Valentines night and thought that the Leisure Facilities are great, rooms were clean and nicely presented however walls were thin and heard traffic from road and other guests getting intimate which made it difficult to sleep.Main receptionist was a little frosty on arrival however cheered up once we had our glad rags on. Head waiter was a bit rude and tried to place us in busy location near people traffic for our Valentines meal with no consideration for our date.service standard was redeemed by younger staff waiters who moved us on request and were very helpful snd understanding Food is a bit overpriced lacked flavour however massive portion and gorgeous restaurant decor

Negative experience: I and my family and friends have been customers of the Beeches Hotel for several years. However, just before Christmas we were publicly humiliated by an assistant/manager named Chris. He accused by brother and I, of failing to pay for our food and drinks a couple of days prior, the conversation was made in full view and earshot of customers and staff in the bar and restaurant. This accusation was soon dispelled by revealing payment had been made by showing the amount paid on our banking app. No apology was offered or given by the staff member who had accused us of theft. A subsequent letter of complaint went unanswered by the management. Defamation of character is the oral communication of a false statement that unjustly harms a persons reputation, so if you wish to be abused and embarrassed in this way, the Beeches Hotel is highly recommended. We, and our family, friends, and business associates will now boycott this establishment. Appalling customer services. Top tip, keep your receipt, you have been warned.

Thank you for your review and feedback across multiple platforms. Your letter was received and investigated. I strongly disagree that you were accused of "theft". You were asked about a bill from your previous visit that had not been cashed off on our system. You showed a member of staff proof of this payment and the mistake was accepted. I apologise for this error causing a conversation such as this to even need to be had. We would never seek to "publicly humiliate" any of our customers. I am sure you also would not seek to do this, therefore it is indeed a shame you have chosen to name the staff member by name in a public forum causing damage to their reputation.

Positive experience: A very nice, clean and well presented hotel, that I couldn't fault.

Positive experience: Lovely hotel enjoyed our staff clean rooms. Heating could do with being warmer for this time of year but comfortable bed.

Fantastic experience: We stayed one night and can honestly say it is the best value for money hotel we have ever stayed in. The rooms are very clean as is the hotel. The breakfast was fab and the cherry on the cake is the health club that you get access to. The gym is very well equipped and the pool area, jacuzzi and sauna are immaculate. Our daughter is at University in Nottingham so we will definitely be back to The Beeches a few more times. See you soon

Positive experience: Bedrooms were a bit cold and restaurant gave me food cooked in cream despite having told the waiter I have a dairy allergy

Positive experience: Average. Breakfast uninspiring and everything kept running out despite only a few guests. The window in the bedroom didn't close properly, was the lowest grade thin cavity double glazing, and so the traffic noise at night was pretty loud. The receptionist was kind in that she allowed us to remain parked in the car park for free for the day after checking out, but beyond that I won't be coming again.
