Positive experience: Really good gym, best to go in off peak times, as sometimes fitness classes take up all the room downstairs(when they could be using the circuit room) for the activities that they were doing. But other than that prob much better than the other Southampton gyms as you have a bigger car park with 3hrs busy and it’s less busy, so your more likely to use the equipment(rather than having to wait)

Fantastic experience: A great place to have your fitness training. less items but good quality and not so rich like other gyms . Me and my partner are off peak users and we love it. Would recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: What is the gym's policy with individuals that stink like they haven't washed for a month, literally one can throw up around them? Should everyone else suffer? Or can someone speak with them?
Negative experience: Very disappointed , bathroom only cold water working!!
Hi Soran, thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We have recently made slight changes to this area, looking at improving energy efficiency. This is both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. Our showers are now set at a temperature of 36C and have a flow rate of 5 litres per minute. These parameters are regularly monitored and we also have regular checks carried out on boilers and associated equipment to ensure the units are operating as they should be across all of our gyms. On occasion, we can get faults on our water system which is normal. When this happens, there is a process in place to ensure we arrange for our contractors to attend, investigate, and resolve the faults and return the systems back to full working order within a timely manner. If you believe there may be an issue, please speak to a member of the gym team who will be able to assist further. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities and all feedback is taken into account when making any future changes. Positive experience: Great location the gym is somehow small, you would need to go upstairs or down stairs to use some equipments which.

Positive experience: Yeah, i joined on a special offer and thought I would give it a try. Went at 9.30 am, Monday AM. It's busy, but you would get a bench after waiting a short while. These are all on the ground floor with the dumbbell area. On the first floor are weight machines and cardio equipment. Plenty of cardio equipment, but weight machines are probably like one of each, maybe 2 of each, where they are used more. Takes time to get used to a newer gym, but overall, I am happy with it. Free parking for 2 hours, next to Mark and Spencer, if you wanna get protein shake .

Fantastic experience: Good set up, clean and a wide variety of equipment. Haven't gone when staff working but they have their own PT room and have classes held to support those who like to work out in regimented sessions or with friends

Negative experience: I don’t know what’s going on with these bot accounts that have only 1 review and random names but anyway i’m in the gym at around 7 and it’s extremely hot in there it got to the point where u start to smell a really bad smell I don’t know why are u trying to cut costs by only using 1 ac and make the members hate their time in the gym i really consider canceling my membership and go somewhere else because the air conditioning here is the worst I’ve ever been to
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended. I started here yesterday with two classes learn to train glutes and Pilates. everyone is really friendly and happy to give advice or answer any questions you have about the work out. They will also offer spare time to show you how to do different exercises to help your body type. I now feel confident in my choice of gym and would definitely recommend to all :)

Negative experience: Not bad considering the price clean but it’s extremely hot inside it feels like in a sauna after you finish your exercise despite the air conditioning in there non of them is working actually the only one working is in the cables area in the left of the entrance i hope they turn them on

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym and atmosphere! I do a few classes and PTs with Gordon Windebank, and they're always banging! The bootcamp he runs always pushes me to my limits and gets me working hard, the motivation he gives you really makes you believe in yourself and push to make progress! You walk away knowing you did everything you could, I tend to leave like a giraffe that's had a few too many jagerbombs but damn do I feel good afterwards! I would highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Great Gym , but can be tough to get into classes even if you booked in advance , which is something management should look into by checking who actually booked and priorities them , because people just turn up early and get them self a spot , so when I turned up today ( pre booked ) I had to leave since it was packed and I had no space to land !!! I was quite disappointed but Jorge who I do Saturday ‘s stretch class picked me up and we trained outside the class together which was super kind and supportive of him . It was amazing ! He is very passionate about what he does , so easy to talk to and have a lot of deep knowledge of how body works , how it connects to our mind on a different levels too . Saturday stretch class with Jorge is another happy class for me , it’s not just stretching , He is leading you to be able to allow your body to relax , to let go , to learn to breath properly in the deep flow of stretch . I love that Jorge is focusing on function stretching too! Big thank you to Jorge ! ❤️

Fantastic experience: Great gym ,especially for me bootcamp run by Gordon , in fact I attend all Gordon’s classes as well including box fit and spin . Gordon is a very motivated trainer who exceeds in getting the best out of you , but also having a laugh along the say.

Fantastic experience: It’s a decent gym with plenty of equipment. It’s always clean and all the PT’s are friendly. I particularly enjoy Gordon’s weekly bootcamp, he’s constantly coming up with different training ideas to keep things interesting, he gets the balance right between giving enough encouragement to achieve your physical goals and also making sure you have a bit of a laugh along the way.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been PT’ing with Gordon in Puregym for nearly 2 years now, and I’ve lost 2 stone. I’m 50 this year and have never felt stronger. Gordon motivates me in every session, makes me laugh, and has seen me through some really tough times. I love his spin classes and I really like the gym in general.

Fantastic experience: My partner and I have been going to Shirley PureGym for over a year. Gordon’s bootcamps and PT sessions are tough but so worth it, we’re the fittest we’ve ever been! Would definitely recommend any of Gordon’s classes too, especially spin and circuits!

Fantastic experience: Puregym Shirley is a great friendly gym with a variety of extremely knowledgeable Personal trainers who are very welcoming and humorous to make you feel at ease. The classes are a great place to get fit, to build friendships and a great opportunity to experience the different styles of PT’s and the best one for you. I’ve been going for a couple of years now and I can personally recommend Gordon’s classes or if you would prefer a 1-2-1 PT session, Gord will get that extra 20% from you that you never realised was there! He also runs a Bootcamp which is really great for fitness, which has a real fun team bonding element to it.

Fantastic experience: Can be busy in peak hours but I tend to go morning or lunch and its relatively quiet. Good range of equipment, 24/7 access, and lots of classes avaialble. Jorge is a fantastic PT and Massage Therapist. Very patient and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Positive experience: Gym is good just don’t understand why they upgraded the shower rooms themselves into nice looking but downgraded the actual showers with water which isn’t warm and lasts around 15 seconds then you have to re press it for it to go again.

Fantastic experience: Very clean gym with a variety of classes and plenty of equipment to use with relatively no waiting time. 24 hour access, after 7pm feels empty on Fridays and not so many people in Sundays. Good group lessons, nice trainers.

Fantastic experience: Had an issue getting in on the plus pass, the staff were very quick to assist and sort the issue for me. Enough equipment that its not been too busy on every visit. Great Gym.

Negative experience: Gym itself is good, always have a good workout . But the machines are absolutely disgusting. Covered in sweat and dust. I have never seen anyone cleaning the machines! They vacuum the floors and dust hand rails and lockers and don’t go near the machines. The cross trainers today was really bad. No excuse. (Pure gym Shirley,Solihull. )

Negative experience: I’ve been customer for this gym for one year now, and it was all good until Easter. I came back from my Easter holidays and after my work out as routine I went to have a shower as usual when I realised that the showers now are with less strength, colder and the time of water coming out reduced from 30 sec. to 20 sec (really noticeable). I mean, after a really hard work out and day, the thing I wait for my gym is having a pleasant shower. That is really disappointing and dissatisfied.

We apologise for this recent negative experience and the impact it has had on you – we are currently running a sustainability project and keeping our cost to members as low as possible at this gym, which is why you may have recently noticed a change. This is something that is being run centrally, and not something that the team on the ground have control over. Positive experience: Any advice but have just been alerted to a parking charge, I came to the Gym for an hour. Went home showered came back and got something from Marks & Sparks. Now have a 'invoice' because I came back twice in one day. Can Pure Gym advise? and not just the no accountability because its a third party car park. I spend decent money in Pure Gym & Marks & Sparks!

We would advise that you make an appeal against the fine, via the channels indicated on the letter you have received. As part of your appeal, we would suggest including a log of your attendance, which you can find in your Members' Area. Positive experience: A normal PureGym. On the cleaner end of PGs I've been to, gents showers are warm enough and stay long a good time with the button, a good amount of kit and in decent condition. The normal downsides apply, busy AF after work, lots of thumb exercising going on and s#*! music. Not spacious gym but I like that.

Fantastic experience: It’s good. Cold at night . Toilets not dirty and broken like london Puregym’s . Women are not fat or obese Like london either . Seems they exercise and don’t eat chocolates after .

Negative experience: Beware of parking cameras ... Dropped my daughter off to use the gym and then collected her when she had finished. Was issued a £70 parking fine for returning within an hour. No one interested in helping resolve matter so cancelled membership.

The car park is operated by a third party company in which we do not have any affiliation with. Therefore, we are unfortunately unable to cancel such tickets. Information regarding parking is available on the home page of any PureGym which offers parking. The correct parking procedures must be followed, to avoid a parking ticket. We would always advise that you appeal the fine and explain the circumstances. If you get in touch with Member Services, we can also provide you with an appeal document which will be an official letter from PureGym Head Office, stating that you are a member of PureGym and your attendance log for the date in question, will also be provided as proof to show you were in the gym. Positive experience: This gym is ok, classes are always busy which is a good sign. The only thing that let's it down are the cycle bikes, a lot of them are unusable.

Negative experience: Been just shy of a month with no air conditioning during extreme heat, especially in the free weight area. Awful conditions to exercise in. Seriously considering moving gyms.

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Negative experience: Very dated equipment. Rusty bicycles, many do not work or are about to break. You must pay on the top of the membership to atted some classes. They need to think about this situation or will lose clients. Luckily the staff is very friendly and, currently it is the main reason why I am still attending the gym. Claire and Donna are amazing and make enjoyable every session.

Staff undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. Positive experience: I was told when I joined the gym that it has Wi Fi but the signal is so low you cannot even log on. So you cannot see the settings they recommend you to do.

Positive experience: For some reason nobody else using this gym seemed to put the freeweights back in the correct places (out of hours so no staff around to sort it) and there were a few teens messing around with the doors. Facilities were in line with any other puregym

Negative experience: The gym is way too small for the demographic is serves. I remember giving pure gym HO a heads up when Currys/PC world were vacating the premises next door because it would have been perfect to extend the gym. I was recently in there and found this tiny woman using a box jump right in the middle of the cable crossover to climb up to do pull ups, blocking people who wanted to use the shoulder press and the incline machine, none of the PTs even bothered to say anything. The space needs to be optimised better. There's too many cross trainers and treadmills upstairs. Change it up and get some more rogue echobikes in. Put some more machines in like hammer strength, nautilus pullover or similar. Right now it's just a gym that seems to want to have as many members as possible to make money as opposed to providing a decent gym experience. Would be cool to run a campaign to get people to stop sitting on their phones instead of working out. Recently had to wait for the cable crossover with one guy sat on the foot rest on his phone for 15mins between one set oblivious to me standing next to him waiting for him to finish. Also would be cool to teach these young kids the etiquette of not asking someone how many sets you have left.

Positive experience: Small gym space below, upstairs is well equipped and larger. There's a studio as well Car park, can get very busy at peak times.
