Positive experience: Great gym to go to
Negative experience: Last couple of months gym bacame very dirty, over 4 months no water fountain and last couple of weeks turned the music really loud. ITS NOT A CLUB OR DISCO!!! ITS A GYM MOST PEOPLE USE OWN MUSIC BY HEADPHONES, PLEASE TURN THAT MUSIC DOWN LIKE USED TO BE OVER THE YEARS!!! IT GIVES PEOPLE HEADACHES!! Where exactly I’m talking about cancelling??? I’m vclearly complaining about water fountain, dirty showers , ladies changing room and VERY LOUD MUSIC!!!!PLEASE QUIET DOWN THE MUSIC!!!

As a non-contractual gym company, we give our members the flexibility to cancel their membership on a month by month basis. If you have a membership which you pay monthly via direct debit, you can cancel your membership online on our website, although this must be done at least 4 working days before your next payment is due. Alternatively, you can cancel your direct debit with your bank directly. If you have a fixed term membership, you will need to get in touch with our Member Services team so that they can action the cancellation on your behalf. They can be contacted at [email protected]. Negative experience: Cheap is the only good thing about it. Weights everywhere, holes in the floor, no water for over 2 months, dirty, weights alwags put back in the wrong order. No one goes round tidying the weights away as in previous pure gyms I've been members of or asking members to put their weights back. Generally, absolute carnage. I understand a lot of this is the members but there is no attempt to correct this poor behaviour or a general attitude of looking after the gym.

Negative experience: In September all the gym classes changed and they don't offer the same amount of classes that I used to enjoy. There seems to be lots of HiT, ride and lift classes. It took me a long time to enjoy the gym and I was but now I have cancelled my membership as I struggled to find classes that i like and the times I can make. Such a shame. I know I am not alone in these thoughts

Negative experience: So many upcoming maintenance issues. ( Tap water does not work now for a month) sometimes the gym is closing for a weekend...

Positive experience: Cheap and cheerful gym. Let down by not enough equipment and people not wearing correct clothing ie Crocs. Another problem is people sat on equipment playing on phone's.

Positive experience: Great gym, always tidy and clean, best time to go is on Sunday late evenings if you can as it’s very quiet!! Lots of equipment, but water fountain and energy drink station has been broken for more than a month

Negative experience: No water + ten billion people at all times. Still not enough membership dues to afford AC
Hi Ed, thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We have recently made slight changes to this area, looking at improving energy efficiency. This is both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. By law, we have a requirement to provide a certain amount of fresh air based on occupancy levels, and our ventilation system increases and decreases at different times throughout the day and night, making sure we meet these requirements and provide good air movement around the gyms. These levels are based on size of the gym, and occupancy levels, and are regularly monitored. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities and all feedback is taken into account when making any future changes. Positive experience: Lots of equipment but, as others have said, drains sometimes very smelly, aircon has not been working properly (if at all) for months and no water fountains for months either. Why only 1 leg curl machine? only 1 calf machine, no hack squat machine? Why are the cross trainers (lower floor) so close together that you can almost smell the breath of the person exercising next to you? Also hate having female cleaners in the mens changing rooms. Still, should'nt complain too much for the price. No doubt their reply to this will say 'we regularly monitor and maintain equipment' but everyone knows the above problems are ongoing and are probably just too costly to fix.

Negative experience: I've noticed that the water fountains at PureGym have been out of order for almost a month, and there hasn't been any repair done during this time.

Positive experience: Signed up yesterday. App is rubbish "membership rewards" well what are they? A picture or anything would help. ..Very busy with everyone sat on their phones there's no where to refill a water bottle which is annoying

Positive experience: It's busy will around 8.40pm. Shower drains need sorting. Plenty of parking hut only for 3hrs I think. Easy access

Positive experience: Overall good but same group of ppl constantly openly vaping in the male changing rooms, usually on a Sunday when no staff around to report it too, not good!

Negative experience: The air conditioning system seriously need to be upgraded, or the temperature within the gym needs turning down to be cooler. It is often extremely hot during workouts and gets very sweaty. Please consider lowering the temperature in general and especially by the free weights area. I find the temperature outside much cooler than in the gym and it’s peak summer outside! The air quality generally within the gym is also very stale.

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Positive experience: I absolutely adore pump on Fridays with Becky, it’s so upbeat and fun but I can’t go on Tuesdays, and now it’s recently been taken off the rota on Fridays. It’s a shame that there aren’t more classes throughout the morning as generally there is usually only one each morning

Negative experience: They really need a zero star option to counter all these fake 5 star reviews. Often filthy especially changing rooms, crowded, features such as hot water or aircon often non existent or broken and an awful manager to deal with if you ever ask for any of these to be rectified. It used to be £13 a month. It’s over double now and it’s not worth either price.

Negative experience: Keeps cancelling my membership for no reason. It is the second time in less than a month. Also very passive aggressive with their emails. I forgot to put back a weight ONCE and they suspended my account. My membership was from the 19th to the 19th, but they have cancelled it yet again. It is only the 13th. Very inconvenient as I have had to miss the gym and it is very disheartening for someone trying to get serious about gym. Gym code seems to not work properly often. EXTREMELY POOR customer service which basically does not exist. They have no number to call. Their fb messenger takes over 12 hours to respond. Disappointed!

Positive experience: Been going since 2017. Very good, generally clean gym, everyone is respectful and minds their own business. The showers need a bit of attention, alao shower gel dispensers wouldn't hurt. Can get crowded at times. PTs are friendly. Edited: lovely staff and friendly patrons. However cancelled membership as the CEO supports genocide.

Negative experience: Absolutely appalling. The gym was shut despite saying it’s 24/7 online with NO other information to suggest otherwise, no phone number that led to a person and no response to Facebook messenger. The only way to know it was closed was to turn up like many other people did and not be able to get in. Start caring about people’s time. Edit: thanks for the generic response. This does not address the issue that there was no way to find out the gym was closed without turning up.

Positive experience: Cold water in showers

Negative experience: Website make it impossible to sign up on my phone and i had to use someone elses phone and put my info into their phone only for their phone to tell me apparently someone has already used my email address to create an account and theres zero ways to speak to an actual human being. Ive never used this gym and due to the gaslighting and time wasting i never will (not that i could even if i wanted to) try and sign up if you want to be gaslit and have your time wasted

Positive experience: It’s a great gym only a couple of issues for me treadmills facing the wall with no screen as an aid for distraction, also if equipment is faulty it takes a long time before it’s fixed seated bench press has been out of action for about 3 weeks

Fantastic experience: Gym instructors / classes = all great. I’m not motivated enough to go to the gym on my own accord so the classes are perfect for me. I’ve been to a few different gyms when travelling for work but hands down this one is so much better than others. Good space, clean changing rooms and most of all friendly and encouraging trainers.

Positive experience: Your standard pure gym experience. However I do really like this pure gym as it is very bright and well spaced out. It’s also usually super clean and not very busy. As with all gyms it would probably be better if they had just one more bench press and squat rack as they’re always busy even at non peak times.

Our gyms are very popular and so can become busy especially at peak times, but this does fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day. Fantastic experience: Decent Gym, with plenty of equipment. Easy access at any time using the app or your pin. Very competitive prices as well.
Positive experience: Great gym very well equipped. Is is getting a bit dirty inside specially in the corners and edges of walls, could well be better cleaned. And another downside is that people keep "forgetting" to put the gear back to the right place after using it not thinking about other who will use the kit next. There should be reminders, and staff should also be reminding users, proactively and reactively, to put things back in place after using.

Positive experience: A lot cleaner that before Covid. The only drawback is the fact that it is very crowded especially between 18.00 and 20.30.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym and the trainers! The Monday spin class is my fave and the best day to workout in the weights section is a Sunday as it’s so quiet!

Positive experience: Used to use this one alot for its convenience being close to work. Plus the 24 hours availability from when on nights was a huge bonus Even at busy times i didnt struggle to get on machines however free weights was a different story. Good value for membership, good array of equipment, the showers and changing rooms are cleaned regularly. There is also good covid 19 measures with cleaning equipment spread across the gym. Only real gripe is there is no boxing equipment here. A few punch bags and a couple boxfit courses a week would have kept me coming here instead of going to the quedgeley one instead due to change of jobs

Positive experience: No staff, no 1st aid when it was needed!
Hi Shelley, thanks for taking the time to leave this review and we're sorry to hear this! There are always Personal Trainers in the gym between 6am and 10pm, butt especially at peak times they are often occupied with classes or clients. There will always be at least one member of staff who is First Aid trained, even if this is a cleaner. However, if one is available they will always be happy to help. If they're not immediately visible, you can try knocking on the office door or pressing the button to call for assistance. We hope everything is okay, but if you have any concerns please speak to the Gym Manager. In the meantime, I hope you're able to make the most of the gym and reach your personal fitness goals. Positive experience: I get its not staffed on a reception and stuff but not really many staff to ask about stuff... induction sessions all at the same times morning and mid afternoon so I can never make them, but very clean and great facilities

Negative experience: Gyms were sprawled out everywhere, weights felt terrible compared to inverness pure gym owned weights, ( better weight distribution) dirty floor was peeling, the cable fly machines are really old and the weights were inconsistent and all felt weird when using them,

Positive experience: I've just started going to this gym this month (06/22) as it's very convenient for me and 24/7. The price is reasonable at £25.99 which allows you to freeze your membership and also gives access to the branded drinks station and any other PureGym locations. There's a basic subcription at £19.99 aswell. As the location is still relatively new, the equipment is all in good order and clean enough to use. There's plenty of parking when I go in the AM as well. Locker room and showers etc look clean although I haven't used them. It's a little odd that they're located upstairs and at the far end though meaning you walk through the gym to the locker room. Huge amount of cardio equipment mainly consisting of treadmills, steppers, bikes etc but only 2no. stairmasters right next to eachother. The machines and weights section is downstairs but due to the large class area the weights section feels very enclosed right at the end of building. It contains racks, bench presses, benches, bars & the leg press meaning it's always busy. It's the only free weights section as well so personally it's quite intimidating as someone new to this gym. The rest of the machines are placed throughout the ground floor and it just doesn't feel right? Something about the layout doesn't particularly click for me, it just seems hap hazard. There's a wide multitrainer and a couple normal multitrainers, pretty sure there's just 1 each of the typical machines you'd expect to find. Upstairs opposite the cardio equipment is a mostly wasted space, there's a few mats and things but again it just isn't right. Personally I'd do away with some treadmills, create a mat area at one end of the cardio equipment and have another free weights section running in front of the upstairs mirror. There isn't a lack of space in this gym, it's just a poor layout. Ultimately I'll probably use this gym over summer as it's super convenient but I'm still on the lookout for a better one. Good for someone looking to do cardio with some weights as opposed to the other way around.

Negative experience: Puregym is a very good gym but this branch is very bad. Most of the equipments are old, not smooth and making sounds while you're using it. The benches are so old and not stable, you can get injured easily. No enough cleaning stations, ventilation is bad, no enough mirrors. The equipments are not well organized, it's everywhere on the floor. It always takes time to find what you are looking for. I would not recommend that gym, the other branch in quedgely is much better. Hopefully the management takes action and improve it.

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. Negative experience: Worse gym staff ever. Went on a work trip, and booked 3 days plan while being there, first day my code worked and I exercised( very small gym, still enough equipment), second day my code wasn't working and there was no one to help me in, the outside door was shut( 6 am), I had one day left in me 3 days pass, so I thought I try at a different time, went at 11:30, and still no staff, and code still not working. One button there to press for staff, no one showed up after 10 minutes, asked one of the other people going in if they could advise someone, they couldn't find someone either. Waste of money and time

Negative experience: the gym is really big and nice , but every time i go is very but very cold , the air conditioning is working 24/7 so even with long sleeve I feel like I'm freezing , the smell in the gym is horrible and disgusting no fresh air entered or air freshener , i’m really sorry about this but will change the gym

Positive experience: It has a digital entrance system, with mobile app, it helps a lot with bookings. So far it hasnt been that crowded. Cleaning is much better since my last review. Good car parking facilities

Negative experience: Poorly run. Staff do not enforce gym etiquette I.e ensuring that gym goers are correctly putting weights and equipment back. Whilst I do understand that is mainly the gym goers fault with kit laying everywhere, I do feel that the gym staff should be proactively trying to put a stop to this. I visited quite a few pure gyms across the country and I would say this has been the worse so far. It's a pain and waste of time moving from equipment to equipment walking around trying to find plates simply because people do not put them back. Again more of a gym goers problem but there are quite a few that hog equipment or machines. I.e. they have 5 sets of dumbells their using (in a busy period) or sitting on a machine doing 10 sets but more time sat looking at their phone or talking to their buddy across the gym floor.

It is in the gym rules that members should return their own weights or risk suspension, but at peak times especially it can be hard to police this. However, staff on site do everything they can while we also have CCTV monitoring the free weights and are looking for new ways to combat this. Your gym manager reads all the reviews so will put a particular emphasis on this now you've pointed it out. Unfortunately, we are unable to monitor the usage of phones in our gyms, however if people are sitting on equipment I would strongly advise approaching a member of staff on the floor who will be able to help further. Positive experience: Very busy in the weights section even at off peak times. The gym is actually ok, it's set over 2 floors and has adequate equipment. The showers are average and some lockers look like they've been broken into. It's just ok really

Positive experience: Nice gym. It's not my local one, but I was visiting. Clean gym. On 2 floors. Air conditioner could have been a bit cooler, but that's just a personal preference. Will definitely use again when I'm down
