Negative experience: Worst gym I've ever been to! I have been to many gyms but have never seen anywhere else like here. They also openly stole from me. I've been leaving for months. I was there for about six months. When I wanted to change my gym before the end of the month, I asked the staff to leave and remove my membership, but they said you had to pay next month before you could quit. After talking to her, I told her that my contract was over and I could leave whenever I wanted. There were only a few days left until next month! Why do I have to pay next month when I leave here? Then she looked at her computer for a while and said no problem we won't charge you next month, you can quit now. But after the next few days, they asking me for next month's payment, they charged me. I was leaving the gym I suggest you never go to this place. Your money is really wasted. In addition, the gym is very small and does not have enough equipment to play.
Negative experience: Club will not honor contracted terms. Under 9.2: Notice, the contract states that: "The notice shall expire either on the Commitment Period end date or at the end of the following calendar month following your request. If you provide the one calendar months' notice one month before the end of your commitment period, your membership will be terminated at the end of your commitment period." My partner and I provided over one month's notice before our commitment end date, which is stated in our contract. Manager does not accept this as he says this has to be based on DD billing date. When we first signed up and were asked to choose which DD date we wanted, and asked to see if it affected anything else, we were told no. At no point were we told that when we give in our one months notice, that this will have to be based on DD billing date. This is also not mentioned anywhere in the contract. The manager is choosing to ignore this and is instead focussing on mistakes in the contract, which his team did not pick up on until now and are not our fault. He is not taking any responsibility for the continued mistakes made when setting up my account or for the issues I have faced throughout my 3 month membership.
Negative experience: Worst gym ever, avoid at all costs! Only 3 showers, so crowded, classes are basic and repetitive
Positive experience: VERY clean gym, specially the toilets. The cleaning lady is very friendly and hard working. The cardio machines are very modern and most of them in good state. Some weight machines and lockers need a bit of love, though. The body composition machine is amazing and a great plus for members.

Negative experience: This gym is pretty much a health and safety hazard. Bench press machines are wobbly and get trapped when working out unless you’re familiar with their old and out of fashion weights. This is a very small gym , maximum capacity of 50-70 people at best. The worst part is you’re stuck in a 12 months contract
Hello Clenses, We also have shorter term memberships, even options to cover the 3m you've been with us. We aren't sure what you mean by the bench press machines being trapped. We have 6 racks to bench press from and 2 chest presses that are in full working order. In regards to capacity, we pride ourselves on not being overcrowded like you will find in some budget gym alternatives. We do not like to see our members in queues waiting for machines, as you will in the aforementioned places. So we cap our membership base to allow members to do their work outs and get home ASAP. We have instructed the manager to call you to get a better understanding of what is going on, as I can see you have declined our help previously when offered free consultations.
Fantastic experience: Kindy is very professional and friendly and loves her job. I had my body checked with her. She was very helpful and guided me through the process. She then explained the results of the test and took the time to explain and demonstrate to me on the gym floor some exercises that could help me achieve my goal. These exercises are now part of my routine and I can already see the first results. What I appreciate about her is her dedication to what she does, the way and approach she has in the gym, she is always there for anything and takes the time to listen and explain. The gym in general is also clean and well maintained. THANK YOU KINDY
Fantastic experience: Nice gym with plenty of weights and squat racks/benches. Also they have been constantly upgrading the gym and have added quite a few pieces of equipment since I joined 4yrs ago which is nice. Only issue is it seems to be getting quite crowded recently after work, waiting for benches etc. But that's all gyms in the area.
Fantastic experience: I’m a member of a different branch so I’ve only visited this gym a handful of times, but it always impresses me. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the other members are respectful, consistently following the cleaning rules by wiping down equipment, which is a nice change. The lockers actually work, which is also a nice change, and the equipment is always in great condition! Highly recommend this place.
Positive experience: The gym is decent, but only there are 3 showers and one not working for a while, there is a que for them in the morning where people need to shower before work, emailed to enquire with no answer, is courtesy to at least answer an enquiry Further to this post I did not receive a reply phone call or reply to my email as the manager promised in his reply

Negative experience: There are only 3 showers so there are often queues of irate people waiting for showers in the morning, banging on shower doors etc. I don’t know how a city gym can only have 3 showers in total for both male and female users. I would avoid this gym if you are looking to shower before work.

Negative experience: AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!! If i could leave no stars i would, they messed up something on there system so i couldnt use my fob for half of october, nov, dec and half of jan told them of this problem and nothing then told me in dec they would freeze jan payment as it still wasnt sorted and then a payment come out then taking me into a negative balance for that account.. was able to get it sorted in jan but even told them i wish to pause or cancel then after saying that they finally gave me a month of payments being frozen even though at this point i had paid 3 months without access. i have been bombarded with texts and phone calls demanding i pay for march membership even when i told them within the first 10 days of feb im leaving, i have no contract saying that i need to pay a month in advance and ive just had a phone call from someone from this gym called sapphrone or whatever being aggressive and lying saying that i used my fob every month then not being able to tell me when that was exactly as i know i never used them when my fob wasnt working because i dont like going at busy hours hence why you get a gym with 24 hour access! Im going to be looking at taking this further and looking for getting something done for all the texts and calls.. There are far better gyms with better facilitties in woolwich and the local areas avoid this dump and the rude staff.

Fantastic experience: I joined this gym recently and unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstance I had to cancel my membership. The staff at this gym are really kind and friendly. Kindy is always willing to help out, whether it's showing new member how to use the equipment or providing guidance on workout routines. In relation to cancelling my membership, I was told to drop by at my convenience for refunds. I met Arron for the first time - he is fair and transparent. He explained the process clearly and ensured that refunds will be processed within 2-3 days. The refund was made as promised and I am very satisfied with their service. Fantastic experience: I had an issue with membership cancellation and arron was kind enough to sort it out for me! The management is really helpful and accommodating.
Negative experience: Worst gym ever! Staff have an attitude problem. While I was working out here I politely asked a female customer if she was done using her weights but the trainer who was clearly flirting with her yelled on top of his voice "there are 10 kgs on that rack mate" as if it was insult to me using lighter weights to workout. Half the time they don't even have enough light weights to do mobility exercises. Not worth the money you are far better off going to Puregym which has better equipment and costs way less compared to this depressing garbage gym.

Negative experience: Such a shame that I had a cool experience in the gym but when cancelling my membership the customer service was absolutely terrible. Payment was taken out even after I had cancelled my membership the month before. I received an automated email , confirming my last billing date but it was not stated that I would also need to pay an additional month for the notice. If I had known, at-least I would have got my moneys worth by going to the gym for the last month. When speaking with customer service they did not take accountability until the end of the email thread. Honestly the worst customer service I have ever received. I will never be coming back to this gym. I would rather go to the overcrowded Pure Gym than ever come back to this place.
Negative experience: Nothing but a horrible bunch of bloodsucking leaches. Horrendous facilities, even worse than one can encounter. Warning, DONT DO DIRECT DEBIT WITH THEM. They will not spare, even the departed.

Fantastic experience: I'm an irregular gym member but bit the bullet and decided to try the fitness classes. I've tried a few of the different instructors as I was nervous about if they would suit me. I have to say a few of them weren't as organized or as enthusiastic as I wanted (which was off putting) but I now regularly attend the classes run by Topher. He's fun and really encouraging!! Always has the circuit areas set up for us, no pressure to "push harder", and he's honestly just so happy that you've shown up. It makes a huge difference for my health so would highly recommend joining his class.

Negative experience: Nothing Special as a gym and cancelling your membership its a nightmare. I was initially told to contact stuff, then go online then they will charge me for a month that i will be in another country. If i cancel my direct debit they said they will contact dept collectors. My contract finished 6 months ago and they need a month notice. AVOID commitment with AF unless you want to get in troubles or pay for no reason!
Negative experience: For the price you are paying I would expect to see more equipment, a range of classes and staff members. But its over-priced, classes only hold 10 people so its always fully booked and the site it tiny. You are better off going to the competitors, its £20 cheaper, bigger also 24 hours and you'll be able to attend a class. Again the gym is tiny and not worth the price. The gym is always clean though. Max i've seen are like 2 members of staff. Would not recommend. I can also see all there one star reviews they like to pretend that they are not actual members of the gym service which is also a lie. Overall not worth the price All there 5 star reviews are fake as well, they only have one review.

We have looked into your account (as we do for every review left for us to determine if they are from a legitimate member) and we can see you are a member of the club. We are unhappy to see your comments about the facilities, and would like to hear about any improvements you think you would like to see as a member. It would be helpful if you could let us know which classes you have not been able to book, as we track this very closely and add more classes when and where needed - we have not observed any issues here currently. Anyone who has been to our club would know we have a wide range of equipment, in many cases more offerings that alternative gyms in the area - so please let us know if you were unable to find a specific piece of equipment. As we are franchisee owned - we are normally very quick to add new equipment (as regular members will attest to). All of our core staff are employees of Anytime Fitness - unlike some budget gyms where the staff you meet on the gym floor are personal trainers, who are incentivised to sell you training sessions rather than deliver a clean, safe and friendly club for members to train in. We focus on the latter, and we are glad you agree the gym is always clean. There are times of the day when we schedule fewer staff and there are other times where there are more staff, but this is all driven by usage patterns and is optimised to ensure the club is running smoothly for the members that typically come through the doors at a particular time. As an example, there are typically around 30 members in the club at any one time (we have almost double the items of equipment available to cater for this demand). This is again tracked very closely. The gym floor space is also sized to this level of member usage. Budget gyms that charge lower membership fees will often have 2, 3 or sometimes 4 times as many members - but we find that our members prefer a quieter, more comfortable training environment. Some gym goers will of course prefer a larger site, with thousands of members all competing for a limited amount of equipment and studio space but that is not what our gym is. We also take the review process very seriously and look into every review. We have been operating in Woolwich for 7 years, and are a global brand with over 5,000 gyms globally. The integrity of the online reviews is very important as a constructive feedback tool to us. Your suggestion that the positive reviews we receive are not genuine is invalid - and anyone who trains regularly at the club would know this from interacting with our members.

Hi Paing, we are sorry to see you have left this review. We disagree with your assertion - and feel most people will agree this is very disingenuous as you have used 2 separate accounts to leave a negative review like this. Every member who joins us reads and signs the membership agreement which does clearly state that 1 calendar month's notice is required to process a cancellation. This means if you request cancellation of your membership in July for example, your August payment will be your last payment and gives you access to the club for the entire month of August. This is quite standard with most subscription services. Leaving a poor review is not a fair way of disagreeing with membership terms that you have signed up to - it does also not help us improve our services which we do like to do from genuine constructive feedback.

Negative experience: HORRIBLE! I joined a year ago and I enjoyed it for few months, the staff were friendly and you could see them tidying up and try to talk to people. the machines were clean and the environment was good. From few months back to now everything has change, you will be lucky if you see a member of the staff in the morning, the place smells funny and it's cool in winter and hot in summer. The showers are dirty and most of the time BUSY (there are only 4 and one of them is locked always). If a machine breaks they can take up to 5/6 weeks to fix. I can see is getting quieter and quieter as people is running away to Pure Gym, no contract and no ridiculous fee. Honestly try to avoid it!
Hi Ana, sorry to see you have left us this review - this comes as a surprise to us, and is certainly at odds with the numerous 5 star reviews we have been receiving continually from satisfied members, who are very happy with the new refurbishment and continuing investment we put into keeping the gym tidy, clean and safe. We take member feedback very seriously - and have not received any feedback from yourself like in the past so we are very concerned. We have service level guarantees with equipment providers, so if you have an example of a machine that has been broken for 5/6 weeks as you say please do email us at [email protected] with further details and we can have a look into this. This is not something that other members have raised to us on the gym floor - where our staff are present daily as per the staffed hours displayed on the front door. Yes the gym is generally quite quiet - this is one of the main reasons members like to train with us, we aren't over subscribed so members are not competing with thousands of other people to use a piece of equipment they need. We have always been a quieter gym, aiming for the best member experience and it is something that we are proud of. We actively put a cap on the number of members we allow to join us so we can ensure queuing times are minimal and the club has a relaxed, safe feel. We wish you all the best on your health and fitness journey, and would love to welcome you back if and when you choose to return, like many members are.

Negative experience: AVoID!!!! Very hard to leave the contact even with a medical certificate. They needed the doctor to spell out that I need to “ not go to the gym” cause him saying “she can’t exercise “ was not enough. On asking to speak to a manager the person I was dealing with said I am him and I asked if there was someone above him he said no I am the boss here you do what I tell you to do as procedure, he was rude and difficult like I stole a kidney off him as opposed to ask to leave. Atrocious behaviour. The gym was alright, nothing fancy, the classes were a hot or miss. Dirty showers and toilets, always smells of sweat. I am much happier at a new gym loads of better gyms in woolwich. Join pure gym ( cheaper and no contract)

Negative experience: So far am having a bad experience with them because they wouldn't let me cancel my subscription unless am I'll or relocating outside London,,,so am paying without using the gym

Fantastic experience: A great gym with a very dedicated team , Arron and Josh helped me out with workouts and techniques also correct usage with equipment , likewise they use their own free time too help out whenever necessary.

Fantastic experience: Mr. Sham was really quick in helping me resolve my issue of membership fees charged despite me being unable to come to the gym due to me being Covid-19 positive which I think is a genuine problem which can be faced by anyone. He has genuinely listened to my problems and have taken appropriate steps to resolve this, so thank you.
Positive experience: Anytime fitness means going any time even if its early hours of the morning. This is good. As it can suit your life style or work schedule. A little pricey for me at the moment but maybe I'll go for it if things change.
Negative experience: All pain no gain. On many occasions the staff was rude to me. One vindictive staff member had the gall to suspend my membership after I stood up for myself! I raised an official complaint and they all banded together against me. There is no escalation process for your complaint to be heard by higher management. Oh, and I've learnt the hard way to never join a gym that lures you into signing a contract with them. They put me through hell because I cancelled my direct debit and tried to leave. Stay away and look around, there are better gyms in Woolwich. I'd give zero stars if I could.
