Fantastic experience: Lovely caravan park with all amenities

Fantastic experience: Travelling in our Motorhome. Site well maintained and staff friendly and helpful. Offered discounted food in restaurant. It snowed heavily overnight and staff were out clearing roads Sunday morning. Well stocked shop. Lovely site. Too far from beach to walk but a short (ish) drive. Don’t follow satnav directions to site!!!! The site is well signposted from A1 and gets you there easily, while satnav takes you on a winding narrow country road to an electricity pylon!

Fantastic experience: We absolutely love this place so much so that after 5 years of holidaying we have now bought our own van on site. It's a perfect for a peaceful tranquil break. Dunbar is a beautiful place to visit aswell ❤️

Fantastic experience: We have just returned from a fabulous week at Thurston Manor. We booked through Hoseasons for a 3 bed 'Ivy' caravan, which was perfect for our needs. The caravan was clean and comfortable. Only one very small complaint is that there were no coat hooks, but certainly no deal breaker. All staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. The kids loved the swimming pool and the club events in the evening. Good access to the A1 and lots of great places to visit nearby. Would definitely recommend.

Positive experience: i love it here, but the arcade is very small even though there is machine scattered everywhere there is NO cash machines anywhere i looked everywhere. Little for kids to do aswell

Fantastic experience: Was working in North Berwick and had 2 weeks staying at Thurston Manor. Was too busy to enjoy the on site amenities but was amazed at how peaceful and quiet the site is. We stayed in meadow view and it was a real treat to sit having breakfast or an evening meal after work and enjoy the local wildlife doing its thing. The local tame pheasant and squirrels as well as deer, finches etc. A proper tranquil place to spend some time. The on site shop is reasonably priced too.

Positive experience: We stayed in a caravan on site. The caravan was nice enough, but it was not the cleanest. We found pet hairs after asking for a pet free caravan, we found other bits of plastic on the living room floor. One of the radiators was dripping water and one of the bathroom sinks was leaking. We were also disappointed when we had spent our time separating our recycling like we do at home to find there were no recycling bins on site. We just had to put everything in the one bin. When we went to the swimming pool on site, we were disappointed to find that the showers were out of order in both the male and female changing rooms. We thought we should have been made aware of this when we booked the time slot. The site is in a good location.

Fantastic experience: We visited Thurston Manor for the weekend with my grandparents and stayed in a lodge in the Meadow View area. The lodge was immaculate and had everything we needed. The view from the decking was gorgeous and we had a rabbit and a deer outside at some points. We ate breakfast in Hunters restaurant on the last morning and food was absolutely spot-on. All members of staff that morning could not have been any more welcoming, friendly or accommodating. We would definitely be happy to visit again.

Fantastic experience: Came here in my motorhome on 1/04/24, booked a grass pitch as that was all that was available, upon arrival our booked pitch was quite turned up due to bad weather, the grounds man immediately came to help & found us another, more suitable pitch. He also helped us the next morning, bringing us a hose pipe to fill our water tank up. The 5 stars are for him, really lovely & helpful man, thank you!

Positive experience: If you like peace and quiet its for you. Not exactly my cup of tea, thats why only four stars. Theres a pub and restaurant, swimming pool and gym. It's ok, but I only was there for work purpouses. Basic needs are satisfied, but if you want something more theres dunbar about 5 miles, there you can have some fun.

Positive experience: It is a nice well kept site with clean toilets and showers, the downsides are that it's not very dog friendly, we had a takeaway from the restaurant which definitely wasn't worth the money and there is no WiFi for touring caravans. We have stayed at CL sites in the middle of nowhere and they have WiFi so I think this is very poor. Won't be back.

Fantastic experience: Just got back from a long weekend here, the Caravan was really clean and tidy and the shower was lovely! My boy loved the swimming pool and the park! We didn’t stay on site that much as went for Edinburgh fringe. Would definitely stay again though. We also found a pub called the pine Martin that allows dogs inside that can actually eat with you so went there every night for food and the food was lovely too!

Positive experience: Very nice site, we stayed in a lodge, was disappointed that the lodge was not cleaned properly on arrival. There were cobwebs from the ceiling and crisps on the floor. The location is excellent for the fantastic beaches in the area. Edinburgh is 40 minutes away. Shop on site, entertainment for children, pool, and gym. The restaurant was good and the food was good. Had a good week.

Positive experience: Nide place but touring toliets look like they need a clean. No toliet roll , toliets blocked. Please fix this!

Positive experience: Thurston Manor is a lovely place for a holiday, IF you get a lodge away from all the craziness of the main area. The arcades suck, all broken, 3 machines worked Bar was ok but really ghetto style, think Peter Kay Pheonix nights on a very quiet night. The poor barman was too tall for behind that bar and looked very out of place. Staff at reception were brilliant, maintenance guy we had out on 1st day was great. Issue with boiler losing pressure but just needed a top up of water every morning and night to keep it working grand. Some better signage needed and better route to main area from Lakeside area as old steps and path are very hazardous and we only discovered them on last day after walking that way before and having to turn back. Shop is rather expensive, but Asda is 4 miles away so not all bad. Very close to nuclear power plant, dump and incineration plant but no smells or visible smoke etc so not to much of an issue but no mention of this on website for good reason.

Fantastic experience: This is a lovely place to stay. We stayed in a a Limetree Lodge down by the lake and it was peaceful and comfortable. We really enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward up returning next year (when we've saved up - it's expensive in July). Before we came here, I couldn't find a lot of info about what the lodge would be like/ what facilities it had, so I thought it might be helpful to leave as much info as I can think of here. It's a long review! Friendly, helpful staff Comfy lodge, fairly modern, good condition. Clean. Good WiFi - enough for gaming/streaming etc. Lovely surroundings, very peaceful, leafy and quiet. The whole park is very spread out, so very uncrowded Basic tea/coffee/ soap etc provided for the start of your stay but no dishwasher/ washing machine tabs Dishwasher, washer/dryer - there weren't any instructions, but not a big deal as we just googled it Large smart tv in living room, small tv in double room Great storage in bedrooms, walk-in closets in both, and very spacious lodge overall En suite in master with good shower 1 large+ small towel provided for each person, but you'll need to bring your own for swimming, plus maybe a couple of tea towels/cloths (teatowels provided weren't great) Bedding was fine - no mattress protector though, but mattress was in good condition Beds were comfy, pillows/duvets were good Gas hob/cooker, microwave, under counter separate fridge and freezer USB sockets next to bed, but not very many other plug sockets in bedrooms. We had a bath with shower in main bathroom and shower in en suite - good water pressure, lots of hot water. We were at the bottom of a long, steep hill from the pool/restaurant/activities etc were, but were told there was a shuttle to drive us around in the evenings, although we didn't use it. Lovely lake with ducks/swans (but be careful you don't walk in between the owners' caravan/ lodges, as they don't like it!). Little playpark just opposite our lodge Nice soft play nearby in Dunbar Great beaches In terms of negatives, there weren't many, and none were really dealbreakers for us: Kitchen didn't have many utensils - no scissors/cheese grater, not many plates/cutlery, but enough if you put the dishwasher on every day. Enough for cooking basics. We had to buy plastic toddler plate/bowl etc. No hoover or mop, but I'm sure we could have asked for them if we'd wanted to. We just used the brush on the carpet and wipes Double bed (not king size, as it said on the website) Arcade wasn't great, most machines not working, which was a disappointment We weren't too keen on the restaurant food, but only visited briefly during the day, so maybe different in the evening. Staff friendly and helpful in there though. Shop had pretty much everything but was very expensive. Great pocket money toys for kids. Asda 5 mins drive away.

Fantastic experience: Lovely campsite, entertainment was great. Super walks around. Wish the restaurant had vegan icecream as there was no dessert suitable for my youngest but that's my only gripe other than it would be handy if the shop opened earlier. Summer sunrises wake everybody in a tent really early and it would great to get fresh milk before 9. The showers and toilets are immaculate and there are plenty of them. The landscaping is great. The kids loved seeing the swans at the pond and there's plenty of space for playing games. Would definitely stay again

Fantastic experience: We chose a super pitch for our touring caravan, which was clean and nice and flat. Facilities perfectly fine, showers nice and hot. Our 8 year old daughter loved the evening entertainment as did all the other kids. On site shop is expensive, but you have an Asda 10 minutes away. This is a great base for exploring the area ie Dunbar, North Berwick, Lindisfarne to name but a few.

Positive experience: Great lodge (limetree) a lot more spacious than we thought it would be. Enough parking for 2 cars very easily. Had plenty of cooking equipment in the kitchen and the little welcome pack with tea towel, sponge etc was great. WiFi was pretty poor but thankfully had enough signal to be able to do what I needed from my phone or tethering it. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Shop was quite well priced, which was a huge change to other holiday parks I've been to and not a bad selection either. The restaurant area was fine, food was simple and a reasonable price thanks to quite large portions, wasn't exactly craving to go back but any time we didn't want to go out we didn't mind just popping there. Pool was nice with great changing areas. Even though it's pet friendly you can't actually go in anywhere with dogs, which paired with no cover on the terrace wasn't great. Dog water bowl was always empty. No way to order anything without going inside so I wouldn't go alone. As for ordering the big thing missing is a simple app like most holiday parks have, would free up lots of the space around bar areas in pub, restaurant and entertainment area as well as allowing you to enjoy being on the terrace with dogs instead of sitting there with no food or drink when you can't go in. Entertainment was good but not very varied. Son really enjoyed it and wanted to go everyday. Arcade was ok but by the end of the week half the machines either had coins stuck or were turned off and put out of order, some of the ones still working weren't giving tickets out. Quite a few bits to do locally (within 30 minutes) and Edinburgh 40 minutes away. We had no trouble having a full week of varied activities and could go back for another week tomorrow without worrying about what to do.

Fantastic experience: Great location peaceful and quite lovely relaxing week.We were given complimentary vouchers for a few problems in the lodge but they were sorted and the vouchers unexpected.But had a lovely meal in the Manor restaurant.Thank you we have enjoyed another visit could be back in September.

Fantastic experience: Just called here to use motorhome services. Grey waste, black waste and water for a donation to charity. Was also told we could use the facilities whilst here. Took a wrong turn and ended up driving around the park. If looked very nice.

Fantastic experience: A great holiday destination, great facilities, friendly staff and people on site. Reasonably priced shop, bar and restaurant. The swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi were great. The staff really went out of their way to make sure we had a great time and were very knowledgeable on local attractions and beauty spots. Our caravan was spotless and very well kitted out. We will be coming back for sure. A+++++ brilliant.

Negative experience: We brought our tourer for a week stay over Easter break. We found the facilities clean and well maintained but the service was not great. I witnessed bar staff chastising children for not saying please and thank you, which ordinarily wouldn't be an issue for me but there was definitely a feeling of bullying towards younger guests with the interactions i witnessed. Children also don't have free access to the arcade facilities. There are signs everywhere stating that children must be accompanied by a person over 16. They aren't even allowed to place soft drink or food orders at the restaurant bar even though there is no table service. I enjoy caravan sites because I feel more relaxed giving my child independence to enjoy the facilities without their every move being scrutinised. My biggest gripe is the swimming pool. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult in the pool, you must be physically in the pool. I've been to many sites and this is unusual, especially during school break. I asked if I could accompany my 13 year old as a spectator and was simply told no, I need to be in the water. The site is close driving distance to dunbar and a big supermarket. Overall I don't believe this is as child friendly as it claims to be or should be. I would not return with my child.

Fantastic experience: 4th time at this park, lodge is perfect, bar prices very expensive cheaper in some bigger hotels, bar staff are run off their feet as they were only a young boy and girl serving, head bar steward walks around as if he owns the park, children entertainment team fantastic

Positive experience: Park is a fair size. Small shop on site, which was well stocked. We didn't use any of the bars or entertainment. Leisure centre in need of modernisation. Jacuzzi Spa not working, Steam Room not working. Sauna for 3/4 people max. Pool very small. OK for kids. Just seemed a bit run down, which let's the site down, which was nice and well maintained. Our caravan was very nice. No issues or complaints.

Fantastic experience: The touring areas are well maintained and the toilet/shower facilities are clean and up to a very good standard. The site is very large and there are lots of areas to explore. The swimming pool/sauna/steam room is very good value. £6odds for 2 adults. Breakfast in the restaurant was tasty and good value. All staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back.

Fantastic experience: Travelled from Leeds, first impressions on coming on to the site is pretty impressive, we stayed on a super touring pitch which is well maintained. The site was pretty much closed down when we arrived as it was Christmas week, also as we expected too. But we returning in the summer, as it is a lovely looking site and we'll looked after.

Positive experience: On arrival we were sent to the wrong pitch. They said we had to be moved without explanation. Then the bar charged for a pint of beer and 1.75 for the lemonade when I asked for a shandy. Later we were back at the bar for a meal. After 30mins we asked about the meals. Which the kitchen said they never received from the bar, due to something about no paper in machine. The pitches and meals were value for money. But the barmaid just said it was her last day and couldn't care.

Fantastic experience: Very well looked after park. Even although the restaurant is understaffed due to curent challenges faced by many, the availavle staff do their utmost. A great weekend. The shower areas are spotless, with plenty of room. Ps. Dunbar is an absolute gem of a wee town. Beautiful, loved the feel of the place.

Fantastic experience: We went for a 5 day break during October half term. The caravan was spotless with nice touches of toilet rolls, hand/vath towels each, anti-bac spray, coffee, tea, sugar, tea towel. The swimming pool was lovely with a steam room and a spa. We had the pool to ourselves at one point. Staff were friendly especially the lady behind the bar. Great place, definitely would recommend and would come back

Fantastic experience: Nice wee place there something to eat entertainment pool for kids but you do need to book this there gym etc what was impressed with was the fact on the food menu the kcals of the meals were on it as well some nice walks close by to the site

Positive experience: BEWARE, claims to be dog friendly but there not even allowed in the bar, spoiled our break, website says dogs welcome!! We found most pubs and restaurants in Dunbar were happy to have us with the dog .

Fantastic experience: The site was really great . The staff here were excellent and courteous all day every day , nothing was a problem for them , I didn't manage the club or any of the other stuff that's on but next time I will certainty them out , the park was well laid out and realy clean , I will certainly be back again

Caravan park is nicely laid out with good amenities. Would highly recommend if you are want to stay near Edinburgh.

Fantastic experience: We had a short break here, first time staying in a caravan park. Thoroughly enjoyed it. We had our 5 year old with us. Park was great, we went swimming every day but above all the entertainment team were AMAZING!!! Would absolutely go back

Fantastic experience: We made a last minute booking and visited Thurston Manor for a weekend away in July and in it was well worth it. A great location and the lodge was nice and spacious. Next to the lake and very quiet and peaceful. The entertainment complex was great and plenty to do. A great location for day trips to Dunbar and North Berwick as well as lots of local beaches to find.

Positive experience: Lovely local area, lots for the kids to do and some really quite spaces within the park, set in a wonderful part of Scotland

Negative experience: Just been out for a meal just 2 people and the food well what can I say no starters ordered scampi and chicken tikka the meal came out 5 minutes apart scampi was good but the curry looked like a child's portion the nan bread was a quarter and the samosa came when we had finished complaint but the management left it to the young waiter who is not paid to deal with this sort of problem very bad service would never recommend to anyone to eat there.l

Positive experience: Large clean site staff polite & helpful. However not sure they are geared up for touring caravans, leaflet given on arrival bit confusing, the only elsan emptying point is at the facilities block, but you have to use a lot of steps or attempt to walk down a steep slippery grass hill, or drive round, as a couple with disabilities we found this annoying to say the least. Also could not find designated grey water disposal point. Motorhomes have a designated point.im sorry to say although we loved the whole area we would not return to this site.

Positive experience: Not a site I enjoyed staying at. Pitches are rammed in next to each other and there was no scenery to see only the neighbouring campervan in front , behind and at the sites. Not helped by individuals around who started playing radios loudly at 8am

Fantastic experience: Returned from a 3 night stay with my partner, 3 year old and the dog and we loved it! Stayed in a superior caravan which was lovely, plenty of room and very modern. We were quite lucky as the area we were staying in was quiet (Birch drive). Entertainment and facilities were great, pool was sufficient enough (small but done the job). food and drink were as expected nothing Gordon Ramsay would be proud of but it’s a family caravan site, hardly the ritz. Will definitely be back!

Negative experience: We stayed here in our camper van for one night on our way from Scotland to catch the Amsterdam ferry from Newcastle. Unfortunately the mens‘ toilets and showers were in a terrible state: very dirty and unpleasant to use. The facilities for washing dishes were also in need of a clean. The site itself is well cared-for and we spent a quiet night. There were a lot of dogs.

Positive experience: So peaceful down in the Glen, our second visit. Reception really helpful, had a couple of small issues with the lodge which were immediately resolved. Good facilities with washing machine and dishwasher. Couple of feedback points would be to clean the bottom of the kitchen bin before each customer rather than just putting a new bag in. Also pillow and mattress protectors would be great, my mattress was a it grubby when I stripped the beds on leaving. But everything else was lovely and clean. Good internet service, didnt use facilities so cant comment on those although the shop is very handy, with larger supermarket a short drive away and a nice town centre for take aways, pet shop etc. So close to some lovely beaches, would recommend Coldingham Bay about 20 minute drive and of course North Berwick and John Muir Country Park. Would definitely recommend Thurston Manor.

Negative experience: Noisy family park. Camper places dirty. Toilers and sanitair clean and ok. Restaurant is a disaster. Overcrowded and very very unfriendly and unorganized staff. A few young girls, no manager. Loud and terrible music. Our first really bad experience in the UK. Maybe this was because of bank holiday, but if you go: definitely skip the restaurant

Positive experience: We paid for a superior pitch with water, electricity and waste. When we arrived the water pipe wasn't working and leaked constantly during the night. On the website you are made to believe there is a fishing lake within the complex but this isn't the case at all and is one of the reasons we choice this park. The staff in the shop need to learn to smile when serving customers on their holiday. On the plus site the park is well maintained and clean and the manager in the restaurant was very friendly and helpful

Fantastic experience: Spotless park,lodges loads of activities,swing parks for younger kids.shop very reasonable fully stocked, restaurant,bar, swimming pool arcade bowling on site.definetly recommend.tourers also available.loved my holiday can't wait till I'm back.pam

Fantastic experience: Had an enjoyable long weekend stay in a practically brand new caravan. Good shop on site and used the swimming pool. Nicely laid out site. Only slight criticism would be vehicles using the site need to slow down. This is down to individuals. Stayed here out of season so perhaps when busier drivers reduce their speed.

Positive experience: Booked this for Feb break. 3 nights Fri to Mon. The site itself is well maintained and is huge. Our deluxe caravan was brand new and we couldn't fault it. The lighting around the park at night time is very very poor. If you have a dog and need to walk it at night, remember to bring a torch. The views are amazing. If you want a very quite time away it's definitely worth it. With 2 young kids and very poor weather we found ourselves in the caravan alot. The swimming pool is very small and the choice of food is basic. Arcades are not well maintained and there aren't many of them. For a 175 acre site the leasure centre could be double treble the size. Overall its okay. Just wasn't for us. We checked out a day early.

Positive experience: Overall positive experience. We booked a lodge for a week over Hogmanay. Our lodge was fantastic, very comfortable, specious, we’ll equipped, modern, very clean. One thing we did not like was the bed in one room (we had to put the mattress on the floor to sleep better). The park itself is lovely and it was very quiet. We had lovely walks. You can find a wee corner shop, restaurant, pool with sauna and steam room, three play parks for kids. We enjoyed our week. We were thinking to buy a lodge but we actually decided not to go ahead. The lodges are amazing and the lack area is fabulous. However the overall quality of the facilities is not in adéquation with what you expect for lodges of the standing. The restaurant offer poor options and looks old-ish. The pool is nice but small and I suppose in summer definitely too small to accommodate everyone. The reception team was very cold and when I asked questions about things in the park the answer was a cold « have you read the brochure » « have you checked the map ». It is a shame as the place as very good potential and lodges are fantastic. However, services are not as high quality.

Positive experience: Lovely staff at the shop, pool and restaurant. Food and prices could be improved, as I recently visited east ord house and it's cheaper with better quality food. Just as a comparison.

Fantastic experience: Just returned from our second visit to Thurston Manor. As we found the first time, staff were all very welcoming and friendly, facilities excellent and thoroughly enjoyed 2 love hours of swimming in the site pool. Bliss. Enjoyed good walks with our pup around the site and nearby countryside. Hunters Bar provided us with a lovely fish and chip takeaway. Only downside is that we were not able to take our pup into the back for food and drink. On site shop very well stocked and extremely well priced! Will be back again!

Fantastic experience: Fabulous place well stocked shop good facilities helpful staff only one bad point going to dinner social distance not good line for bar was down middle of where we were eating man with dog in pram slightly tipsy no mask spray of saliva everywhere we had to move as we were eating dinner we weren't the only ones who complained this was the only thing wrong otherwise we had gr8 time and won't stop me going back

Fantastic experience: We as a family had a double lodge which we found to be clean, tidy, heated and well presented. We have used the lovely swimming pool, jacuzzi and Sauna plus the food Takeaway, all good. Easy access when driving and not far from the delightful historic harbour of Dunbar. Good rail link to Edinburgh too!

Fantastic experience: Spending a few days here with the dogs. Beautiful lodge's to stay in with plenty of room and very clean on arrival. Excellent check in procedure. Looking forward to a nice rest. Used the sauna and pool area today which was an unexpected treat

Negative experience: Spent 2 nights touring.. our pitch had a large raised bit which was dangerous As well as being beside a barriered of section due to a water main burst. Not very pleasant to look at. Should have been given the option of a different pitch but wasn't. Showers and toilets in serious need of upgrading. No hot water and cold air coming from hand drier. Would not return
