Fantastic experience: "I have been regularly attending this gym for four months and I am very satisfied with the environment and facilities. I had private sessions with Rez as my personal trainer, and I was extremely pleased with his patience and energy. He explained the movements, especially the basics, in great detail, and I believe he has a wealth of knowledge in this field. I benefited greatly from his coaching and highly recommend him. Regarding the gym, I would have preferred to see classes like circuits, burn it, or sweat 30 between 9 AM and 12 . Unfortunately, none of these classes are currently offered during this time frame."

Negative experience: Its been a few months ill trying to cancel my membership but i cant , there is not an option in the website and they are keep taking my money

As a non-contractual gym company, we give our members the flexibility to cancel their membership on a month by month basis. If you have a membership which you pay monthly via direct debit, you can cancel your membership online on our website, although this must be done at least 4 working days before your next payment is due. Alternatively, you can cancel your direct debit with your bank directly. If you have a fixed term membership, you will need to get in touch with our Member Services team so that they can action the cancellation on your behalf. They can be contacted at [email protected]. Positive experience: Its nice and big with lots of equipment however some of the male personal trainers are ridiculously loud. I've had to move to other floors on several occasions as they are so distracting, even with earphones in. Shouting to each other and their mates across the gym with zero consideration for others who are close by, it's not their personal studio, its a public space which I seem to be paying more and more for every six months. This seems to be a theme across all Pure gyms, Its not inspiring, its annoying.

Negative experience: I didn’t enjoy this gym. It felt messy, not cozy, and didn’t seem clean. The layout is just two big open spaces, with equipment crammed together in some areas. The gym needs some refurbishment.

Negative experience: If you want a gym where no one has any etiquette or manners and just leave everything everywhere then this is this place to go .

However we know that at busier times, weights are not always returned and our team complete regular re-sets of the gym. We understand that this is sometimes frustrating for our members, and it is included within our Gym Rules that members should return weights after use. Anybody witnessed leaving equipment out of place will be spoken to by our Gym Team. Negative experience: At times too crowded but my main issue with this place is the number of people just occupy the machines while scrolling on their phones and sitting idle! Also the cleanliness and facilities are quite poor in the changing rooms/toilets.

Fantastic experience: This is a brilliant place, especially for beginners. I was quite afraid of trying out the various equipment, but having my PT, Rez Ghafari, has been absolutely amazing. He has put me through the routines really well, guiding and teaching. His knowledge and pacing is great. I look forward to continuing on my weight loss journey. Thoroughly recommend for anyone in the New Southgate and North Finchley area, who is overweight and needs encouragement and help to start figuring out a better way. Trying is the first step! Thanking Pure Gym, Rez and the team for a great experience.

Positive experience: I found it very dangerous to have all the weights spread out on the floor, people are not polite and don't keep the weights safe, we can trip and injure ourselves. People who leave weights lying around should be fined!

Positive experience: This is a nice gym, spacious, and has everything you need. HOWEVER it is also the messiest gym I've seen in my whole life. I don't know if it's the young clientele, but NO one seems to remove their weights off the bars or put them back where they belong. And there are always bars all over the floor. And the dumb bells...they are literally all in a completely random order, which makes finding the right dumb bell a real chore. And it never gets better which suggests to me that the staff never rearranges them at the end of the day. Bad job both by the patrons and the staff on this. But overall the gym is good value.

Positive experience: The gym is spacious, has loads of friendly and amazing people, and features any piece of equipment you can think of. One thing that did bother me was the lack of oxygen in there. When packed, it is almost impossible to breathe fresh air in as the gym has little to no ventilation in 90% of spaces. There is, however, ventilation in the cardio sections and the rooms used for booked classes, but apart from that, it is extremely hard to breathe. The cables downstairs could also use some spare hooks; the back extension has an extender that helps achieve more range of motion and requires two extra hooks. It is usually impossible to find those two extra hooks; resorting to taking them from other machines can disturb someone else’s workout if they were planning to use that cable. It would be great if some spare hooks were provided.

Fantastic experience: Been to many PureGyms and this is a better one - spacious, friendly and possible to get a decent workout done even at busy times. Effective layout, enough space to move around, enough essentials. Has issues like all other gyms - people not re-racking weights etc, but, again, such problems are universal and I feel the gym is doing a lot to maintain some kind of order given the number of people. Most of the equipment is looked after, extras such as barbell pads etc. are provided and are in a great condition. I wish they had an assault bike but very few gyms do.

Negative experience: I have never been there
Negative experience: 2/3 step masters are broken for weeks… 1 leg extension machine for 2 floors… most of machines don’t deliver a linear feedback though the movement. Overcrowded with not enough equipment to keep up with demand. I have been in other budget commercial gyms but this is by far the worst. If you are looking for bodybuilding/machine based workouts look elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: This gym is my second home and from the moment you walk through the door you are in a supportive and encouraging environment. The gym has a fantastic community spirit amongst members. I am fortunate to have Arash as my PT and he is part of an amazing team of PT's that are always there to help you through your fitness journey. Great choice of classes for all levels and easy to use equipment.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym with a huge range of equipment for all abilities from pros to beginners. Approachable staff and good facilities. PTs (personal trainers) available, you choose who suits you. Any gripes? I really can't think of any.

Positive experience: Well equipped gym - only problems are... 1 - the free weights, dumbbells & bars are always hard to find: nobody puts them away, sometimes not even PTs. 2 - any class on the main floor has music so loud even my headphones can't drown that trash out. 3 - could be cleaner.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic space. Absolutely huge and really nicely laid out. The functional area is fantastic and has a lot of the same kit as a CrossFit box would at a very reasonable monthly rate. Loads of equipment with plenty of squat racks and cardio machines. Staff were super helpful too, especially Rafa and Chris.

Positive experience: Good gym, but the main negative is that they hardly put the air-conditioning on, and when it's a hot day, it gets way way to hot to work out

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Positive experience: Only scored 3 stars as the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired! Mondays are usually the worst as there is never any paper and or cleaning fluid to wipe down the machines and when I have pointed this out to a member of staff, they just they're off duty and don't even bother to pass on the message. Clearly they're not bothered about the cleanliness either!

Fantastic experience: This is a budget gym, however, it is big enough and has all the equipment you’d need. It can get very busy at certain hours so always be mindful about the numbers on the app. 24 hour open which is very convenient. It has a good ventilation system unlike other pure gyms so this is a plus. It is clean enough and easy to workout in. Recommended

Negative experience: More like a youth centre, full of young kids play fighting,groups of sikny little boys messing about !not a proper gym go elsewhere % pathetic needs new management and staff also ! Shocking actually

Fantastic experience: I feel like home here, very friendly and professional staff, classes are amazing, Rafael classes are one of the best! I signed up for personal trainer with Arash, and it is worth spending every penny! Fantastic experience: I have recently joined Pure Gym and I must say I am positively surprised , it's a really great gym ! The gym is well-maintained, spacious, and has the wide range of high-quality equipment. The newly refurbished changing rooms are an added bonus, providing a clean and comfortable space to freshen up after a workout. The classes are diverse, and the instructors are motivating. The staff is friendly and very helpful, 24/7 access and affordable prices make it even better. Highly recommended it!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing gym. I have everything I need for my workouts, the extra classes are great and it's easy to find a quieter time for my needs. The place is clean and I can't stop loving the application and the extras. People and the PTs are friendly. I can highly recommend this gym.

Fantastic experience: Joined this gym when opened , Great gym and always tidy, Staff are friendly and helpful and a wide range of equipment to choose. First gym I've ever been to and felt comfortable straight away. I had issue with pin and the Manager Refael in professional manner resolved the problem thanks.

Negative experience: Number of machines for arms and legs are illogically/unevenly distributed. More functional leg machines needed. The lights throughout the gym are so weak and sad, they bring me down. We need more lockers in the women's changing room, and they need to be renewed as they're all crooked or broken.

Positive experience: Good gym but lots of kids late in the evening clearly under 16, some look 11 or 12. An accident waiting to happen.

Negative experience: Full of kids playing with their phones and taking up machines in groups. They should really do something about this.

Fantastic experience: A brilliant gym overall for the price, has good quality equipment and friendly staff and community. Extremely spacious, bigger than any other ive ever been to. Only problem is when machines break they are out for a long time.

Negative experience: Freezing cold showers. Management promised they would be fixed due to a faulty pump, but problem still persists. I hope customer service would be able to help but they just said contact the manager directly. They gave me an e-mail for him but my messages were returned saying e- mail not recognised. This company is a shambles ! It has now been 5 days since I posted my review and it comes as no surprise that I have had no response from anyone at pure gym regarding my issues with cold showers !

Negative experience: Great personal trainer Melvyn Williams keeps me going, otherwise the gym is a chaotic mess. So much emphasis on weightlifting and it’s got worse. Removed Powerplate equipment which was great for rehab etc - no warning

Fantastic experience: Very spacious. Much larger spaces than in all other gyms I visited. This is quite impressive. Its very different than other gyms. It's worth visiting at least once. There is a car park underground that is free after 9pm and on Sundays.

Positive experience: Good gym overall but new bicycle section downstairs needs soundproofing or has turn music waaaay down. It is too LOUD Can barely hear my music or personal trainer talk. Lockers need updating and needs to be cleaner Great variety of equipment otherwise

Negative experience: Not enough capacity for the amount of members. Gym is currently under refurbishment and most of the equipment isn’t available. Customer service has no interest to compensate me even for half of the month.

Negative experience: I’ve never seen useless gym like this. There is lake of basic equipment even overchest bench, l pretty regret to waste my £42.99 for this gym and punish myself. I’m writing this for those who don’t know about the gym to help them that can save their money

Negative experience: Too busy with dirty smelly changing rooms and finding a machine or even a bench can be a challenge if you go after 3pm. There are lots of spaces for more machines such as HIIT bikes, incline barbell chest press. There is a culture issue in this gym, the weights are everywhere and teenagers use the machines in big groups of 4+. I think puregym needs to address that selfish culture. (Just having a paper on the wall doesn’t work) The staff and PTs are nice & professional but the whole gym has got many things to address.

Positive experience: A good place to go as you'll see a diverse range of people of all shapes, sizes, gender and ages - so no need to worry about how you look as you'll fit right in. Broad range of equipment but avoid peak times if you want an uninterupted workout using free weights and machines. A good selection of fitness sessions, I only wish they lasted more than 30 minutes, which is the average time for most classes. Staff are polite and friendly. Downside, it can get very smelly during hot weather and the air con isnt always functioning as it should. Clean toilet/changing area which is regularly checked.

Positive experience: I would like to add some little points to show why i gave 3 stars. First, the location of this gym is not so good and it is not easy to find parking lot near the gym. Second, having some stairs make it hard for mobility sick or disabled people to get in to the gym. Inside you have to walk in long corridors to find your salon. In compare to the other clubs it only gets 3 stars for friendly staff and the facilities.

Fantastic experience: Love it here! It's clean and has plenty of machines and space. The staff are really helpful and professional and I cannot recommend them enough, especially management. Any problems are dealt with quickly and resolved properly, really good service and value for money.

Positive experience: The gym is nice but one thing I can't get over is the fact that the padding on the ground is too soft. This is the absolute worst if you are trying to push heavy weights as you need to really dig your foot into the ground.

Negative experience: There is always at least one weight machine broken and it stays broken for months at a time. This wouldn't be an issue if there was more than one of it's kind, but often it's the only one. Just last week 4 weight machines were broken as well as the wifi. There is an issue with large groups of teenage boys hogging machines too, despite there being signs to stop this. Unfortunately I haven't seen staff take action in person, however. If you are able to be flexible with your workout this gym would generally be fine, but if you have mobility issues or a specific physiotherapy/rehabilitation program to follow, then each visit will be 50/50 of whether your needs will be met. The gym is generally quite clean, and the staff tend to be very friendly which is why I have given 2 instead of 1 star. I got so frustrated with this puregym that I switched to the other Finchley one that is further away but cheaper and much more pleasant.

Fantastic experience: A great gym, has got classes, plenty of equipment and space, friendly staff. Definite value for money, absolutely recommend! Especially after their recent renovation, the gym now has everything I might need, I rarely have to wait for gear.

Positive experience: Firstly, my perspective is from doing bodybuilding/strongman training for over 20 years. Very spacious gym floors with cardio and machines on two floors As with all modern gyms theres a large number of cardio equipment is available . Decent number of machines although with all that space I think they could double up on a few popular ones like pec dec, machine press, leg extension and ham curls. Good number of squat racks leg press and the all important hack squat although it's not popular in these mainstream fitness centres. Dumbbells go up to around 50kg which again is expected but good enough if you use them the right way. All in all an ok gym with good car parking options nearby and bus stops right outside

The busyness does fluctuate throughout the day, and from day-to-day. Fantastic experience: Spacious and really kitted out gym with lovely staff
Positive experience: First off entering the building was greeted by a very strong pungent weed smell, then the locker rooms smelt awful, the lockers are out dated, old and many not functioning properly and the shower system is annoying as when you press the button it's like 5 to 10 seconds and the water stops running and your constantly just pressing the button. Thats the bad parts but gym overall is not bad

The gym, including all equipment and PIN pads on entrance PODs, are cleaned a minimum of every 6 hours to PHE standards. Whilst it is not possible anywhere to remove the risk of infection, the measures will dramatically minimise the risk of infections within gyms. Cleaning stations remain available throughout the gym for members to use. We ask that they clean their equipment before and after use. Staff do undertake regular cleaning checks and we have dedicated cleaning teams come each night to carry out and comply with internal and external audits. But we can of course check the cleaning rotas so if you let the Gym Manager know when you’ve visited they can properly investigate that and the shower facilities. In the meantime, I really do hope this does not put you off from attending the gym. Thanks, PureGym

Positive experience: Great gym coming here for years. Quite spacious which is what I like about this gym. The only part I detest is the shower area as I was using it and cold water was coming out which made me have to switch between showers 2-3 times. Secondly in regards to the shower rooms the doors are very loose they don't close properly which is irritating when trying to have some privacy especially when the other shower rooms are taken by other members.

Negative experience: There is quite a bit of cardio equipment that looks great. There is a chair massage and vitamin water area that look very nice. The gym is well stocked. However, the free weight section feels rundown and disorganized. None of the weights were restocked. There is also only one bench for bench press.

Fantastic experience: Finally open!
Positive experience: I have been going here a lot lately and I find that it is not busy early mornings and late evenings. If you go at peek times, you will hardly have any machines to use as all of them will be in use. However, even though the machines are used a lot, they are in good condition and this is very important to me as I do not want to be doing exercise on an unhygienic machine. Also the staff there are quite friendly but they fail to know the difference between a kid and a teen. As a result, I see many children under 16 just exercising without knowing how to use the machines which can be dangerous.
