Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member since I moved to Northwood over the last 2 years a fab gym!! Lots of great equipment/ machines and different rooms which I like to break up my workout. Lots of classes available, from yoga, meditation yoga, pilates, Zumba, and spin. Spin class is a must with Marcie who is a fabulous instructor! All the staff and PTs are so lovely and friendly, so you’ll always feel welcome. Definitely try out the cafe too, they do great smoothies.

Fantastic experience: Darwin Wellness is a fantastic independent Gym. I have been a member for a number of years now. Excellent £value for money when compared to David Lloyd where I had a membership for a couple of years. The facilities, classes, instructors and staff at the Northwood Darwin Wellness club are all top notch. I'm leaving the area and will miss it enormously. Thankyou!

Fantastic experience: Love Darwin Wellness! I've been a member now for over a year and have only had very positive experiences. The staff are always friendly and courteous and the facilities are spotless. Any bad behaviour is acted on immediately which is very reassuring from a member's point of view. I had previously viewed David Lloyd but much prefer the ambience here. I feel so lucky to have this gym on my doorstep.

Fantastic experience: I joined this gym a month ago, and was with David Lloyd before, it’s a very clean and tidy gym. The cafe is really good with service and the food they cater. The changing room and the pool is also really good, however I was not impressed with free weights room as the benches are very old and not the best of the ones on the market. The dumbbell rack is not properly fitted the weights are always missing and not stacked properly. The members never put the weights back which is annoying when they have limited dumbbells. Overall very good gym and less people in the morning with good parking space also.

Fantastic experience: Great gym and facilities! Classes are quality especially the spin class. Marcie who runs it gets you working hard and is great at what she does! Met some lovely people too and staff are amazing. Great place to grab a coffee and some food and meet the lovely Amelia.

Negative experience: Unfortunate! ‘To the owner’ This was a return visit on a day pass and until tonight I sincerely wanted to join the club as I love the pool! The aggressive, unecessary verbal attack my friend and I just received, from the owner was quite disgusting! To be told that you need to dry the wet off you from the shower with fingers pointing at you, raised tone of voice and disgusted facial expressions, really left quite a foul and questionable experience for us! I tried to explain that the ‘several complaints’ he had received could not have been for us as we only came out 10 minutes prior and the ladies we were with were still in the changing rooms? The owner was aggressive from the outset, possibly day pass clientele is not good enough! If that’s the case why offer it! What I do know is that know one deserves to be spoken to in such a humiliating and offensive way! I’m sure the owner will try to label me as the angry, aggressive white female stereotype; so let’s just put that to bed now…at no time did I raise my voice, my hands, my tone and simply tried to understand how he came to this conclusion to then be told…don’t come back your not welcome here’ my £ not worthy? As I said who knows! What I do know is that no wealth can ever buy a good heart! I feel sorry for you, that you are so bitter that hate controls your life’s agenda and although I will ‘not be welcome’, I will continue to smile, with a pure, God given heart…smiling and kindness is contagious..you should try it!

Negative experience: If i could leave 0 stars i would. Just had my mum upset down the phone due to being racially profiled! And told her money isn’t welcome there! AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Arrogant manager. Wealth is not everything and with all the riots going on in the world right now you would expect more respect! DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR. The manager needs a JESUS

Fantastic experience: Great gym, fantastic facilities and definitely a hidden gem - especially when compared to competitors, who are far more expensive, and way busier.

Fantastic experience: I've been a member at Darwin since it changed over from LA fitness and I must say I think it's the best gym in the area. Friendly staff and PT's. They are accommodating to emergency services as well! Lovely cafe on site offering protein drinks and refreshing smoothies and shakes. Good sized steam room and sauna as well as squash courts and a more private room with boxing equipment available too. Would highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to join, members are friendly and has a nice community feel.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of this gym for many years. The classes & instructors are great. The staff are always helpful & friendly and it’s got a super friendly vibe.

Positive experience: There's a range of facilities at this gym: the gym itself is well equipped and there are a number of classes such as Pilates, yoga and Zumba in the studio. I particularly enjoy the lovely pool and the aqua classes, which are always energetic and fun!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym and facilities. Huge gym area, separate weights room, a boxing room, classes, pool, sauna and steam room as well as a lovely cafe with delicious food and drinks. Friendly and helpful staff too. Great vibes and atmosphere, the PTs are also very friendly and polite as well!

Positive experience: My friend is a member here and loves it. He wanted to show me the place to get me to join. He suggested I came for a swim and sauna. We walked in after 5 in the evening, he paid £20 guest entrance for what turned out to be a very expensive swim as the sauna wasn't working. The steam room on the other hand was like being in Darwin Australia. (see what I did there?). I do that definitely works! To be fair, there are no complaints about anything other than I feel like my mate's wallet was taken out the back by Joe Pesci in full Goodfellas mode and given a right royal kicking for 90 minutes usage. Hey Darwin, I think your place is great, but that £20 feels too greedy when your own customer was trying to get me to join. Apart from that, it's a nice place

Negative experience: You really need to train your stuff to handle a situation without being rude, and please do not reply i am not a member , I WAS A MEMBER UNTIL A WEEK AGO.

Negative experience: Not impressed at all with the way the manager dealt with my son. So aggressive and threatening that you are lucky I didn’t call the police. If you are to allow 16year olds in to your gym, then you need to be aware that they are 16 year olds! You clearly needed an ego boost! And no doubt I’ll probably get some kind of reply to my review not admitting any responsibility just like you’ve done with all your other 1 star reviews! Absolutely disgusting

Negative experience: Very disappointed with both receptionist in the club. Very rude, a whatever attitude. I am not a member, I took my child to water babies, and now I will not be coming back as I changed the venue . I came alone with a baggy, and small baby and and stroller, I was told I need to leave the baggy outside as they had a party. The ladies never greet you when you come in. Very rude . In fact, the only reason I signed up in this club for water babies as I wanted to become a member. But with this attitude I do not want to see them or deal with this any more. I know your contra will be I’m not a member and speak to water babies, but I am a human and I deserve to be treated with respect. Avoid this place if you can everyone and I’ll report this behaviour to water babies. It’s been like this from the beginning.

Negative experience: Take my kid to water baby swimming classthere. The receipion ladies are very mad manner ana harsh. Not allowing sit here there. Bad experience. If it so not close to home i would not choose it.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member at this gym for almost 5 years now. It is a very friendly and welcoming place and I have really enjoyed my time there. It’s a place where I can come not only to improve my fitness but also support my psychological well being!

Fantastic experience: Darwin is a lovely club with super friendly staff. There is plenty of modern equipment meaning at peak times there is generally availability. Reasonably priced and great facilities.

Fantastic experience: I have been at the Northwood Club for some time now and it is one of the best places I have trained. The club is always clean and the way it is arranged really ensures that it is always spacious when you are working out. The way they have split the rooms up really made my training way more enjoyable as there are areas for different types of training which ensured that the gym floor was not only spread out well but meant that the space around you was always free. There is a cardio section, leg machine section, free weights room, plenty of benches and multiple squatting sections. In my whole time there I hardly ever have to wait for anything. The steam and sauna rooms were also always clean and were never too full. It has the feel of a health and wellness club but also has all of the equipment and machines needed for muscle training (larger dumbells, different machines to the standard ones, and lots of plates).

Fantastic experience: Can't rate the club highly enough! Good value for money (it is pound for pound better than some other local over-priced gyms), staff are very professional and courteous, members are friendly, personal trainers are exceptional and willing to help and give advice if they see you doing something wrong. Why go anywhere else? Having read some of the recent bitter and negative reviews by individuals writing as though they are members but are not, the gym is a much better place without them! I applaud the gym and it's management on it's integrity and high standards......there will always be individuals who are abusive, disruptive and do not want to comply with the club rules which are clearly laid out...please continue to maintain your integrity for the benefit of the members.

Fantastic experience: Darwin Wellness is a great gym. It's clean, good equipment, and knowledgeable staff to help guide you to reach your goals. It's a total gym with classes, swimming pool, steam, and sauna room. Restaurant /coffee shop also has a good selection of refreshments and food. There is plenty of parking, so for me, facilities and convenience are 10/10.

Negative experience: We wanted to go to this place and booked 3 Hustle passes to go with our 2 year old for a quick swim. We travelled from afar as the pics showed the pool suitable for our requirements. When we turned up with an eager 2 year old (having talked about swimming the whole way) we talked into reception and waited for the member of staff to finish talking with another customer. I said we want to use the Hustle pass and was waiting to see if one would be required for my 2 year old and instead was told, 'you can come in but 'she' can't (pointing to my child)' I didn't want to believe what i was hearing so i looked at her in disbelief. She further said, 'this is a members club and we cant have her (pointing to my child again). This is an adults only place'. I wish to add NOWHERE ON THE HUSTLE APP OR THE NORTHWOOD CLUB WEBSITE DOES IT STATE CHILDREN ARE NOT ALLOWED INTO THE FACILITY. They even have WATER BABIES as a class so i couldn't quite understand why we were being told this! Anyway to avoid a confrontation in front of my child we left and went elsewhere were they were far more hospitable. So in essence this is the reason for my 1 star review. MAKE SURE YOU LET PEOPLE KNOW IN ADVANCE THAT CHILDREN WILL NOT BE ALLOWED (AT ANY TIME) IN THE POOL. My advice, go elsewhere!

Fantastic experience: It is most unfortunate that our club has recently received a visit from two members of the “National Association of Mendacious Reviewers”. The recent post of their visit, obviously written to condemn what is a splendid and popular sports club were misguided and foolish. Their comments, written without personal experience of the facilities should be ignored and treated with the disdain it deserves. Many of us who have used the club for over four decades reflect that, for the price, Darwin remains the best value and most reasonable club within the area. Indeed, any personal visit, always greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable team, would easily refute all the dastardly attempts made to disparage our club.

They made me feel instantly welcome and comfortable, creating a positive atmosphere that motivated me throughout my workout. The staff went above and beyond to assist me with any questions I had Not only is the staff incredibly supportive, but the gym itself is well-maintained and equipped with top-notch facilities. Fantastic experience: The club is great, I've been a member for a month and come with my dad who has been a member for 5 years. The staff and management are amazing, really friendly and helpful. The facilities are up to date with the latest equipment and the gym is always clean and tidy. Parking is no issue. I can't recommend this club enough.

Negative experience: I must say I am absolutely disappointed in this establishment and the management of this so called “club”. The club is absolutely vile, pool area infested with germs, dirty changing rooms, machines look as though they haven’t been cleaned in years. I would never recommend this place to anyone that has any sense at all!! Management team are rude and make you feel uncomfortable whilst walking into the gym, the team always smell of smoke and stand outside making you feel like turning around and walking out. Things go missing from lockers and I have never met such a rude man such as - classes himself as the owner and every guest is banned from going again if you make a complaint or raise an issue. If this team had any respect for themselves, they would employ new management and treat paying guests like guests. This establishment should be closed down.

Negative experience: WORST GYM AND FITNESS PLACE TO GO TO!! Thank you for lying as we have a dash cam! Which records with voice. If you would like I can upload and post link in this ?……. To allow everyone to see. Asian community will see this and how rude you came across. I’m giving you the best advice you can get here, do not go here unless you want to be abused and get spoken to badly. This is the worst customer service place Iv been to. Management is terrible and all they do is stand outside and smoke. This is what social Media does. When having 35k following. This may help you keep people not throw them away.

Negative experience: Have been going here for many many years and been told by friends that management are so rude and I stick with friends. I will be cancelling my membership to a gym who gives the customers respect. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Fantastic experience: About 20 of us met in the bar, a lovely buffet was provided, the lady behind the bar was so lovely. I will be going again with my friend as they have wheelchair access and do afternoon teas.

Fantastic experience: Stellar staff and excellent equipment! Been a member of this gym for 8 years now and I would recommend this fantastic gym to everyone. The Northwood Gym has a true community feel to it. The managers and staff at reception and the cafe are always happy to help. Over the years, the Northwood gym has evolved its offering and I think we’re extremely fortunate to have a fitness centre which offers everything you’d want in a single space! It definitely is the best gym in the area for the price point and personally, it’s worth every penny! The weight training section is fully equipped with premium equipment and a boxing room with a fantastic aesthetic. The classes are equally great, especially yoga (particularly Bhavisha’s class) and reformer Pilates. The sauna, steam rooms and changing rooms are never overcrowded which is a great benefit. The Club have continued to pay close attention to maintain the hygiene and cleanliness across the gym including the swimming pool and changing rooms which are cleaned regularly. The Personal Trainers are extremely knowledgable and highly-skilled! Special shout out to Coach Barrie for transforming my training.

Negative experience: An exclusive club to itself it seems with not much accessibility to others. Having been to this establishment a few times previously over the years, I entered yesterday with a companion. Had to wait over five minutes while people behind the desk got on with other things on the telephone to themselves). Eventually upon getting attention, we asked if we could perhaps enjoy the facilities on an ad hoc basis and what the arrangements would be otherwise with membership. Yet before finalising any details, somebody behind the desk had the temerity to ask if I was a labourer and working on site somewhere? I can only assume this was some sort of jibe to my appearance of having long hair. The irony is I’m a local resident with more experience of that club than this individual (who seemed old enough to be the manager most shockingly). Perhaps a recent change of management is responsible for such a diabolical lower standard now? Won’t be going back any time soon and cannot recommend it to others. Appalling service before even getting past the front desk

Fantastic experience: Been a member here for a couple of months now. Pound for pound it's the best gym in the area, especially when you consider the ridiculous prices David Lloyd Northwood are charging. The gym is usually not too crowded, maybe slightly so at peak times but that's to be expected. Good range of weights and machines, and also other functional areas. I don't make full use of all the facilities but for what I need it for, it's very good and so far very welcoming. There is a wide range of people of all ages and fitness levels which is also good to see.

Negative experience: My experience with the Northwood club is purely based on my experience with the nursery there. While I love happy tree nursery located within Northwood club, the experience of picking up my daughter every afternoon via the reception is horrifying. The man who works on the reception desk ( usually there around 5:00pm) is rude, demanding, insensitive and has zero “customer” focus. He demands that you scan your nursery card upon entering the building (despite him seeing you every day, twice a day for the last 300 days) !! Zero customer focus, treats you as a “badge” that you scan in and out. I have never heard him say good afternoon or a hello upon entering the premise. Sorry, this isn’t a private members club and when we pick up our children from nursery we wait at their dooranyway! If the same policy applies for using their cafe and going to the restaurant located there - that is absolutely off putting! Being on the reception - you are the face of northwood club - I’m horrified at how you speak and raise your voice to people who god forbid enter without a badge. Shame on you.

Positive experience: Its ok if its in your vicinity but it is a little old and dingy. Expected it to be bright and clean but is somewhat dark and dull on the inside. Changing rooms aren't as spacious as expected and pretty busy at times. Has plenty of parking and a free car park

Positive experience: A beautifully presented club, I take my granddaughter to swimming lessons there every Monday so get to use the pool, which is lovely. However, today as I was coming out, I presume a manager was having a bit of a heated discussion with one of the mum's from the swimming session. I was very surprised at the way he dealt with her as he did not come across very professionally at all, in my opinion. He seemed to lose his cool which displayed a certain element of arrogance. Not a great reflection on the club.

Positive experience: Have been to the club for physio sessions. Club looks renovated and seems to offer good services. Staff at club are helpful.

Fantastic experience: Really clean and pleasant. Staff are very welcoming at the main desk and speak to my young daughter when we attend.

Negative experience: Good place to workout, but unfortunately lost a few hundred pounds on annual membership as it wasn't frozen over lockdown. Management non-responsive to any of our queries or concerns.

Fantastic experience: Aqua is very good and hopefully next week will be easier to get into a class.

Fantastic experience: I think this is a great club, staff are always super friendly to me, always saying hello, swimming pool is a perfect temperature, lovely steam and sauna, I don’t use the gym but it’s a large area with a lot of equipment, The seating area is quiet and comfortable with free WiFi, so nice to sit and chill.

Negative experience: Really expensive £60/65 for a very mediocre gym. Gym floor is not huge. The class selection isn't great and the shower areas are below average. I also found the Managers really unhelpful. overall a disappointing experience for the price paid.

Positive experience: Nothing Special - gym area is BIG, so thats good - The shower room, sauna and steam are not very nice - would not recommend to go there - OH, and the worst thing is the price, how can you justify paying £55/£60 a month?? The gym is okay, but cannot justify that price.

Fantastic experience: A lovely gym to workout in if your interested in fitness. Good personal trainers too if your looking to get fit. The pool is nice and kept at a good temperature.

Fantastic experience: This has been my Gym for over two years now. I've lived in the area for over 20 years and wouldn't consider going anywhere else. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by friendly faces at the front desk, this extends throughout the personal trainers and also the other members. Facilities are top notch. they consistently add and improve to the equipment keeping a great balance between cardio and free weights (I focus mainly on lifting and alway find a squat rack or bench in minutes). Recently an awesome new X-fit section has been added along with a new deadlift platform too and if anything has broken in the past it is fixed so promptly you wouldn't even notice! I've also attended a number of Yoga classes where again the staff have been fantastic and the overall feel of the Gym / club meets top top standards. Its never over crowded even at peak times, and the layout is optimised with various areas catering for everyone's needs. I could not recommend enough! 100% worth every penny... Oh and the protein bar / lounge / swimming pool / sauna and steam room are all lovely too - perfect to wind down after a big session!
