Everlast Gyms - Thurrock

Negative experience: Finally doing Everlast Thurrock up after all these years of broken equipment but for the pleasure the price is going up 200%. Once NRG Gym opens on the retail park for £20 month I can see membership falling.

Negative experience: half the machines don't work, takes ages for them to be fixed + moved 9 miles away , has to be 10 for it to be a valid reason to cancel contract a joke

Positive experience: This Gym always had a really weird smell in the changing rooms And people go in the sauna in their gym clothes and trainers. Often enough a lot of machines do not work or are in poor conditions. There’s always a massive skidmark of mud on the floor as well. Just feels so dirty. I wanted to cancel my membership but they said they cant bcos of the agreement. So im paying for a gym i dont use. Joke. Go david lloyd/nuffield

Negative experience: This gym is massively over prescribed, the equipment is not well maintained and takes far too long to repair equipment when it breaks. When asked to end contract early due to having to join another gym (because equipment always out of use) staff were very rude!

Negative experience: Used to enjoy coming to this gym, now you can hardly get on anything due to the machines being broken for weeks at a time. The gym is overcrowded and good luck trying to go after 5pm during the week. Keep talking about refurbishing the gym and that’s why the machines aren’t being fixed but this has been talked about for over a year…

Negative experience: This used to be a great gym when the place opened. Now its over crowded & poorly maintained. There is no induction in place for new comers and school kids who think it's okay to slam cable machines leaving them broken 90% of the time. (some of the equipment in working use is a real hazard). When equipment is broken the equipment literally takes months to be repaired which is shocking! This makes the gym so frustrating sometimes and makes you think why am I bothering even coming when that's not what a gym should be about. There is also Mold in the changing room showers and locks are all broken. There has been talk of a refurb for over a year now which I've given the benefit of the doubt but now it's just ridiculous.

Fantastic experience: I went today and was served by josie I would just like to compliment how inviting and bubbly her personality is she is a great representative of the company her excellent ability to understand customer concerns and or needs I am currently trying to find a new gym and she helped me and gave me all the information I needed and I needed help a few times with some equipment and she was more than happy to help me showing great work ethic I have never seen someone so happy to work and that’s not just her every staff member there u can tell likes what they do no complaints at all lovely environment the team create I think this is where I am going to be choosing from now on

Negative experience: Nice staff and clean place, but very poor quality of equipment most of the time things are broken and not being repaired

Negative experience: I couldn’t believe that I can’t end my membership to this gym if I lose my job. Only here this can happen, so I have to pay my membership for 6 more months without job, this is ridiculous. I don’t suggest it to anybody. Also this gym closes to early. I will give only half star.

Negative experience: Very nice place. Looks like an abandoned place. 50% of the machines are broken. 3000 people at peak time fighting for one machine.

Positive experience: There's a lot of equipment, but sadly not the equipment I wanted, which was an assisted pull - up bar, and short on the equipment I really liked. This was the one Everlast punching bag, which meant I waited quite a bit for it and had someone waiting on me That being said there IS a lot of equipment; there's weighted bags, rope, tons of machines. The biggest downside is, there's hand sanitizer but nothing to clean the equipment. I'm a little out off by this if I'm being honest, and my hands were absolutely filthy by the end.

Negative experience: I wanna start by saying this hasn’t just happened. It’s progressively got worse. For a boxing brand to be down to 1 boxing bag, I’m lost for words. I have to share/compete with other members to train. Attending major off peak times to still not being able to train is not acceptable. It’s quite embarrassing. I asked over a month ago, prior to being down to 1 bag there were only two. The 2nd was split open and the response “we can’t get hold of the fixings”. I work in that industry and I understand it’s being held on by eyebolts, d shacks and chains. All of which can be bought from a local screw fix. Just saying… I understand the logistics and it’s not the staff at lakeside Everlast gyms fault. HOWEVER. For a boxing brand to have 1 boxing bag and do nothing about it, over the course of half a year of myself mentioning and the staff witnessing the loss of bags. I now have to write a review. For the longest time there was 1 pushed to the side to sit on. Thinking back to it, for 2 years there has only been a maximum of 3. Compared to when I first joined; there was 8. I guess they took some down to space for “covid restrictions”. But half of those fixings and clamps on the boxing frame are fit for purpose and not broken. I think two out of 6 possibly need replacing? This really ruins the image of Everlast, importantly the use of the gym for many users, like myself.

Positive experience: Place needs an upgrade and and better equipment

Negative experience: Showers are not clean, the floor and walls in the showers area have the same stains for the past month.. the taps never clean, the drain smells. I believe if they would be at least once a week properly cleaned would be very effective. There are rules for using the sauna, but nobody respects them and staff doesn’t mind.

Positive experience: Full of big sweaty men.

Negative experience: Not only that there are only few machines for 200 people in peak time, half of them are broken .

Positive experience: Time for parking is not enough have noticed more and more machines are broken and take a long time to fix. Sauna in men’s changing rooms needs to be turn up not as hot as should be and all three toilets in men’s are broken. The gym is a good one just have to up there game and spend some money on Refurbishment members are starting to notice

Fantastic experience: No question the best Gym in the area for the price, as it includes a sauna and a large amount of lockers and shower with shower gel in each stall. Just for £20 pm for an annual contract.

Positive experience: Staff are nice and polite. Well equipped gym with plenty of protein bars/shakes and water you can buy at the counter for a decent price (compared to their competitors which sell one bottle of water for like £3). Only a few problems I have with the gym are : Closing times, especially on a Saturday are way too early compared to their competitors which are open 24/7. The barcode system you have to scan to enter is very tedious, often times I have to spend a good 10 seconds moving my phone up and down so the reader can see my code and I can enter. And finally, the changing rooms are way, way too humid. There’s a bunch of sweaty men who just finished their workout, there’s toilets, there’s a steam room, it gets so incredibly humid and it’s almost hard to breathe. You guys need to put up a window or extra air vents or something. Otherwise a decent gym, probably the best gym in the area.

Positive experience: Good Environment. Good amount of space to workout. Good amount of equipment. Sauna. What else do you need.

Negative experience: I’ve been going here for about 1 year, previously I was in pure gym. I like it overall, staff are helpful and the sauna for the price is a no brainer. Edit: staff has changed and if for whatever reason you would like a flexible membership, you’re pushed away and spoken to like you’re rubbish. I will not be returning to this gym

Negative experience: Very bad and impolite behaivor from their staff, they are not open to help people with their problems which they have got with payment or gym. They've been very rude to me today... I don't advice anyone to go there, I had an one moth membership I paid 33£ for it, next month they wanted to take again 30 £ even if my contract was just for a month for canceling my membership I paid 50 more £, from my oppinion that's just steling money from people...

Negative experience: I was going to join, but came to have a look around and did not know there was a two hour limit on parking, and ended up with a £60.00 fine. How on earth will they get new customers when you’ve got such a short parking time, when almost everywhere else is three hours free parking, or zero charge!, Parking anywhere today is like owning a cash cow, they all fleece you something rotten? Plus when I went back about the £60.00 fine I’d received, no one in the Gym wanted to help me state my case to the Parking Owning Robbers!! ** I DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE JOINING AND WILL WARN ALL MY FRIENDS, AND FAMILY, ABOUT THIS DISGRACEFUL TREATMENT I’VE RECEIVED**

Negative experience: I joined the Thurrock Branch on the 7th of April and was advised by staff that I only had to enter my licence plate number into the machine if I parked directly in front of the gym but that if I parked in front of Sport's Direct there was no need to as the parking was unlimited...so I parked in front of SD on the 9th of April excited to attend a first class at the gym and promptly got a £100 fine for staying over 2 hours soon afterwards...feel quite disillusioned about my GYM journey now and want to cancel. I don't want to be harrassed each time I make an innocent gym visit as a paying member. It is just not right.

Fantastic experience: Clean Gym. Lots of equipment. Air-conditioned, therefore the temperature inside is perfect. Staff are helpful and polite. The toilets and changing rooms are clean and modern. The monthly subscription is a bargain especially if you take free classes such as Yoga Metafit, Spin Cycle Etc.

Negative experience: I liked the gym. It's very easy to get in, very difficult to get out. You cancel your No Contract membership via an email which sends a standard response back... while continuing to charge you the following months. You try to use alternative emails but none are "monitored", the bots words not mine. No phone numbers are available and no one is interested. So my advice is to refer to the Trading Standards office for advice on how to get out.

Fantastic experience: The best gym in the area, has a very open space and welcoming atmosphere, some of the staff a little dead but I think its just they have no personality especially this blond mono tone lady who is always so boring and most of the time very unhelpful but manager is very good, straight to the point and honest! I love the colour scheme and the layout and the general maintenance of the place.

Positive experience: 1. Always able to park 2. GYM is decent compared to others. 3. Not a big fan of the changing rooms (males) 4. Early mornings are super ideal as you have great opportunity to use equipment/machines that you probably can't use during peak times. 5. Equipment/machines seems to be a occuring issue as many are becoming more out of use and takes some time for these to be fixed. 6. Can be intimidating but that's down to self-confidence 7. Not sure who and where any staff is apart from the counter if in need.

Negative experience: Terrible customer service, problems with membership when first joined was not registered properly for at least 2 months and had to sign direct debit contract 3 times for no apparent reason and again when trying to leave. They do not honor the terms in their contract.

Negative experience: Funny place this.... Just tried to cancel my membership only to be told that I am tied with them for another 3 months as a cancellation fee! Reason why I wanted this was that I have moved 50 miles away since the 3rd lockdown. All good so far... only to be kinda told off on a really rude way by the leading staff... I have asked if I can just ring my banking society and ask them to cancel this for me and she got mad like the devil . Anyway, hope that miss Luda treats others with respect and understanding. Anyway, enjoy your workouts here as it is quite a good place, just try to avoid miss Luda if you can ( she is so rude). All the best.

Positive experience: Fully equipped gym with personal trainers available. Fully compliant with covid measures.

Negative experience: So many machines are constantly broken for weeks and even months on end! This is very frustrating to say the least. Staff are always very friendly and helpful-thank you. The gym itself is kept immaculately clean, and has a great atmosphere, but the issue with the constant broken equipment is such a huge problem. This seems to be getting increasingly worse, as more and more 'out of order' signs appear with each visit.

Fantastic experience: It's a nice gym with lots of equipment and big free weights area. You can see cleaners there most of the time which is always a good thing. I saw one in the changing area and was quite impressed with the amount of cleaning they do so it is really clean gym and changing areas. Equipment is good and staff friendly and helpfull.

Positive experience: It started really well. It was clean and properly maintained at the beginning but in the recent few months things have changed. The equipment started to break down and nobody fixing it, which is a shame really. They just put a sign out of order and it stays for weeks if not even months. Also opening times on weekends are not logical. They close way too early in my opinion. Also in terms of the classes there is none in the afternoon, very inconvenient timetable for some of the members.
