Negative experience: Just doubled my membership payment with no warning. Wouldn't mind if they fixed the gym equipment. No email. No warning. No loyalty to long term members

Positive experience: New to this gym, at the time I use it plenty of things available.

Fantastic experience: Dimitri your dedication to maintaining a clean and organized facility is truly impressive and providing information to customers about exercises and motivating them is something what every beginner looks for in the gym. Keep it up pal!

Fantastic experience: Been going here for 6 months now, 5 times a week, amazing gym, easy to navigate around, helpful and friendly people and staff, it may not be a 24 hour gym but for a daily routine it’s amazing

Negative experience: I'm standing outside currently at 07:13 and the gym still isn't open. This is regular and not much in the way of an apology when they turn up late either. 7am is supposed to be the Sunday opening time and these are seven of us standing outside as I write this review. No wonder all of my friends have had enough and left for another gym.

Fantastic experience: Been going here for about a month and it’s difficult to find anything I don’t like. The staff are very friendly and always greet and acknowledge you on the way in and out. There is plenty of kit always available. Especially in the mornings and afternoons. My only issue which is not specific to this gym is those guys who think it’s ok to just drop their weights making a god almighty noise. Remember if you drop it, you are lifting too much weight or are just an attention-seeker!! Great gym!

Positive experience: Good value, helpful staff and free parking . Variety of both gym equipment and classes.

Fantastic experience: Here 3 nights a week, I love it, yeah its not 24hrs, but that's a niche suited for specific individuals. There's hardly ever a wait for equipment. The variety of machines and weights are plentiful. Friendly staff that are polite and helpful, plenty of different classes, if that's you thing. Two things that makes me stay here, the price and the sauna & clod shower.

Negative experience: Gym and changing area is ok, but they have a habit of not opening on time at 5am like they should, which if you’re an early commuter like me, can be a problem. This a why people go over to PureGym. Don’t be locked in by contract!

Negative experience: All-inclusive-as-much-as-you-can-eat-buffet approach to a gym. Machines poorly maintained despite reporting issues repeatedly. Staff friendly but that's about it. As a former rower, I am horrified to see that members are not given appropriate instruction on sensible technique on ergometers. Student-heavy clientelle who ignore requests to clean equipment after use. Plenty of cardio-averse, free-weights, beach-body types. Terry towelling is the order of the day rather than lycra. Should be open later especially at weekends. However, it is cheap. UPDATE: Many pieces of equipment in disrepair; I also appear to be in the tiny minority of people who wipe down equipment after use.

Negative experience: I was promised a student subscription. I ended up being charged £150 on direct debit and used the gym for only two months. They couldn’t even refund. So unfair.

Fantastic experience: Great place

Positive experience: Gym is ok for the price but oh boy do they need to up the cleaning. Sauna is filthy! Floor is covered with patches of salt and plenty of empty water bottles. After asking the receptionist she said they don't keep cleaning records which sounds odd for a health club.

Negative experience: The opening times are an absolute joke, people waiting outside of the gym for more them hour because they can’t get staff to open the gym on time… Absolute lack of professionalism, not reliable place at all…

Negative experience: Not to impressed with ‘the gym’ in chatham. Machines were broken regularly and took a very long time to be fixed leaving them out of order for some time. When i decided to leave and cancel my contract, i spoke to a male member of staff on the phone who said it can cancelled however was charged for another month after. I then spoke to a female regarding this. Of course i was upset and annoyed however she became very sarcastic and said if i continue expressing how annoyed i was she wouldn't cancel my contract. She then hung up on me half way through the conversation. Seems like when you was to move they make life hard for customers

Positive experience: My husband has been a member for over a year now. Good value, free classes. Sauna and shower facilities. Plenty of lockers in the changing rooms as well as hairdryers and hair straighteners, which is useful. Helpful, friendly staff. Can be a pain when the machines aren't working properly though and not enough of some machines at peak times, but that's the same everywhere.

Fantastic experience: As a senior, I found the staff so friendly and helpful, they are always there to help and make you feel at ease, can't thank them enough, we'll done to Tegan, Ricky and Mike

Positive experience: So in the 3 months ive joined theyve taken off 3 classes and instructors have left. New classes have been put in but not the type i joined up for. I have contacted the head office a few times and had nothing back in return but the gym itself is fine and staff seem friendly and helpful.

Positive experience: Below is my previous review. Since then the equipment has been improved and added to. The cleanliness standards have improved significantly also. Slowly being run into the ground. This used to be a really good gym. Now pins are missing for weight stacks, cable machines have been broken for months, they don’t even have a water machine anymore.

Negative experience: Decent gym and friendly staff but I had a bad experience unfortunately. Charging a £25 "admin fee" on top of the monthly fee because the DD didn't go through is just atrocious!

Negative experience: BEWARE if you are thinking of joining this gym. I was a member of the Maidstone branch which literally shut overnight with no warning. The gym and the staff were great. BUT , the owners are not to be trusted. There was no letter, text or email about the closure. And nor has there been any contact since. DO NOT MAKE AN ANNUAL PAYMENT! Only pay monthly and be prepared for a possible overnight closure. Maidstone was NOT THE FIRST branch they closed.

Positive experience: Standard gym. Only slightly overpriced for what it is, but does the trick as long as you go early morning or late at night. Like a fishmongers in the afternoons and evenings. Chap with a goatee at front desk always acknowledges and smiles. Rest of the staff don't bother - doesn't bother me though. Great outdoor patch to get away from the busy gym inside, well maintained. Equipment all works which is great. Car park mostly full but can park at ship and trades car park a 2 minute walk away. Considering leaving as too busy, but convenience as nearby makes me stay.

Positive experience: Great for a cheap gym, plenty of equipment, good price, but the toilets are hardly ever clean or stocked with toilet roll

Fantastic experience: A great budget gym. They keep it simple with small prices, plenty of gear and friendly staff. The only issue I find is that it can sometimes take a while for equipment to be repaired but that's possibly not the gyms fault but a supply issue due to the mad world we currently live in.

Fantastic experience: Have been going for more than a year here now. Best times to schedule your workouts: 0800-1200 every day, 1500 - 1700 every day, 1900-2200 on Fridays & weekends. You're welcome.

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym , I went to pure gym before this gym and this is a lot better and cheaper , I like the music they play and lots of machines to go on and never have to wait , get 50 free classes , very clean with showers for men and woman and a sauna and staff are lovely and friendly

Negative experience: Very Busy and ok Equipment. The worst is that they payment system is based with an another company named HARLANDS that includes hidden fees in case you don't have enough funds for your monthly membership. They charge £25 admin fees everytime they try to take payment out. When get paid and you have money in your account you are faced with 40-60 quid direct debit because HARLANDS wants 25 quid when they try to take money out. BE CAUTIOUS

Positive experience: Good value for money, need more duplicates for some machines i.e. leg press, lat pull downs, etc. As there is always a queue for staple machines/weights during peak times. Opening hours a bit limited as well.

Positive experience: Love the sauna and the step machine The payment company however are not efficient would be better if they handled their own finances

Positive experience: Pretty big gym, on the whole above average, is getting a little bit tired now and often equipment is broken. Needs a re fit. Also parking is becoming an issue.

Positive experience: Moved here after puregyms weight section was tiny. Pros - Large weight section, good range of dumbells, has a power rack, sauna, always clean, friendly workers, able to purchase shakes, pre, borrow handful of equipment and has multitude range of bars Cons - gets told off deadlifting over 3 plates(understandable as there is a restaurant downstairs), 2 squat racks completely useless for squats if u squat parallel/below, outdated card entry card system(sometimes buggy), alot of equipments is bit old and when something breaks takes 3-4weeks to get it fixed

Fantastic experience: Nice clean place with lovely staff wide range of machines.private lockers.also have shower rooms.free parking 3 hours.

Positive experience: Good all round gym, even if the equipment is a bit on the old side. Some parts of the gym look a bit tired but in terms of functionality, it does what you need. A couple of heavy bags are in the outside area which is good. COVID restrictions are in place with purportedly 130 maximum limit before one in one out takes place.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym. Its affordable and runs many different classes which are free to members. Very big and an abundance if different machines to use. Clean facilities and sauna. Would highly recommend. Good for people on different work schedules as they open 5am till midnight (Non-Covid hours)

Positive experience: Gone downhill a touch of late, equipment is getting worn, things broken and wobbly on some machines, disabled lift doesn't work still after 18months!!!

Negative experience: Unfair and greedy charges. No goodwill even though I’ve been a member since 2016. Charged me £35 “joining fee” because I was under the impression that I had to cancel my direct debit at the start of lockdown. Not sure I’ll be renewing this membership or recommending Tru Gym to anyone

Positive experience: Good gym for the money, even better they have more than one bench now for chest press, need another platform for deadlift and another set of dumbells of 12,15,17 and 20kg they have 2 sets of each but its not enough. Gets really busy during peak times and always will stay busy because it's an affordable gym, staff are ok, i get a weird vibe off most of them they dont look very friendly, plenty of times I've felt like a nob saying hello when I walk in and I dont even get an acknowledgement so I've stopped saying it lol. Only time they say hello or goodbye to gym members is if their bosses are standing nearby.

Negative experience: Cancelled my membership a year ago and find out it was never cancelled. Customer service is terrible and the gym is too small.

Fantastic experience: Lovely atmosphere and no creepy guys

Fantastic experience: Really nice gym. The massive windows overlooking the marina give it a bright airy feel. The range of equipment is good and there are enough classes to keep things interesting. Oh, and it's really cheap! Slight negatives are that it can take a while for equipment to be fixed, and the booking system for classes could be improved (people book, then don't turn up)

Negative experience: Tuesday 17th December 2024 Gym still not open at 5:20am and people returning home after waiting. Staff constantly turning up late for work. Really poor service.

Positive experience: Amazing friendly staff, great environment and solid equipment though there are generally 1 or 2 pieces out action everytime I have gone which is what holds it back from 5 stars for me but otherwise it is amazing. You can't go wrong with this Gym

Positive experience: Great gym. Decent free weights area and machines. Good feel and atmosphere. If you're a deadlifter, could very much do with another weightlifting platform as you can find yourself waiting a long time to pull.

Positive experience: Very reasonable price, changing rooms/bathrooms/showers are always clean, range of equipment is very good however it is always extremely busy in the evenings.

Positive experience: Lovely place but bloke cleaning a sauna with bleach a 1pm is a joke , enjoy breathing all the chemicals after your workout

Fantastic experience: One of the best gyms I've been to, gets a bit packed some days but they have plenty of machines for you to exercise with.

Negative experience: Joined when they had a deal for first month fee, got charged, made contact and the found their service to be appalling. Basically called me a liar even though I sent over proof, had the audacity to edit the direct debit agreement to back them up, naturally I cancelled my membership within the 14 days without using it at all, asked them not to send money to same account as just switched, that was ignored, can't get money from old dead account, asked them to reverse, they did not so I end up a month's membership out of pocket. Absolutely disgusted. Won't consider this gym branch again and will tell anyone considering it to avoid.

Negative experience: Aircon hardly ever works. I’ve made maintenance requests for the Rowing Machines on three occasions and through the Facebook page and it’s been 3 weeks and still not actioned. I come and use the erg for 60mins 3x week so it’s something I need to to be in good working order. I get a nonchalant sorry were not allowed to do it ourselves. Basics of a gym. Keep your equipment in order and your aircon working!!

Fantastic experience: Excellent instructors, very clean gym and well maintained equipment. The Les Mills sessions are particularly good. I joined because of those sessions.
