Fantastic experience: Great place.

Positive experience: Well maintained equipment and staff that are present on the gym floors. The changing rooms are kept tidy and clean, with plenty of lockers, benches and cubicles. The swimming pools and sauna are great. The small café is good for snacks and drinks. There's also a small array of essential items like towels, locks, goggles, etc. that you can buy.

Positive experience: Sara is a great swimming teacher for my little girl learning to swim

Negative experience: I wanted to see around and take information they told me take a sit for few minutes. And I waited more than 30 minutes. No one come to help me. Very bad service. I left there and I will go another gym

Fantastic experience: All the staff are very helpful ,friendly and polite and always someone available if required, facilities are very good there was a a few maintenance / cleaning issues in the gym area ( machines etc ) recently but this has swiftly been dealt with by management team and no longer any issues ,overall a well run friendly gym with nice clean facilities and wide choice of classes , would recommend this place ️

Negative experience: £49 a month for - - broken equipment - non-functioning water fountains - groups of teenagers huddled around one of two flat benches, doing nothing - either freezing or just a cold pool (it was lovely the one time they forgot to turn the heating off)

Negative experience: I am the member of total fitness for the last 3 years. On 10/03/2024 when I attended with my 3 year old son, I realized the kids swimming pool is been closed due to shortage of staff. I’ve been asked to use the main pool but that pool is cold and not suitable for kids at all. As it wasn’t the first time that they closed the kids pool for the same reason I did not accept this inconvenience at all as my son got cold because if the cold water of the main pool previously .I have been arguing with the staff in front of my son and as a pregnant woman it caused me lots of stress. Instead of solving the issue I even been threatened that I am going to lose my membership by someone named Ben who even I never seen before. He also started to tell me a guy is coming now who you should be afraid of. Can you even imagine this. It’s absolutely ridiculous that this branch closes their pool on Sundays due to shortages of staff. This shows how the poor management levels.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful place, very spacious, open, you can see every activity, changing rooms are stunning, clean, plus there is a private gym just for women. Definitely recommend!✨

Negative experience: Phone and sliders stolen from family changing room. Friends had items stolen recently too! Staff not interested! Cameras outside changing room and membership cards swiped to gain entry to gym mean nothing! You could do more to protect members, this is not an isolated case.

Plenty of equipment, really good weight stations especially after refurbishment, staff friendly, helpful and professional. Regularly using pool and jacuzzi too which is clean well maintained. Overall definitely best gym around!

Negative experience: Trying to cancel is a nightmare. I have been in to speak to memberships about an extra 2 months payments which had been taken. I was confronted with an extremely abusive member of staff (Suzanne)

Fantastic experience: Very very good gym. They added more weight equipment and air conditioning been changed too which I appreciate a lot. Memberships r quite pricey ,but I think it's worth it. I've also tried some classes and aerobics class was the best in my opinion, i dont know who put the class together, but its very well done , dance moves shown by lovely lady instructor were short and easy to remember so u dont struggle to repeat which aloud not only to break a sweat, but have fun too , music was so good I really really enjoyed myself and definitely got a good work out however it's only available ones a week in the morning. I strongly recommend to try this class.

Positive experience: Please get a gapped pad 45° hyper extension. I can't use the current one without squashing my testicles on every raise due to the full pad

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience here. Wanted a family pass, to be able to take the children to swim, and for us adults to be able to attend classes. They were able to sort it out super easy, we had a free swim on the day, to have a feel of the place. It's great, they have a book on system so it never feels too busy in the pool.

Positive experience: I have been a member of T.F for over 20 years & visited most of their other gyms over the years & whilst the layouts are basically the same I find the staff/ people at the Wigan branch the friendliest

Positive experience: Perfect place to exercise with a lot of help from instructors. Loads of different exercise classes and amazing pool area with sauna and steam room. The only let down is freezing changing rooms and showers.

Negative experience: One of the main reasons my family and I joined this gym was because of the pools and family changing rooms. Since joining they closed down the family changing room for renovations and since reopening, it floods worse than before attempting to fix the issue. They also completely removed the bathing costume wringing machine so now there is nowhere in the family changing room to wring out our costumes after swimming. Equipment is always under repair and one of the other major reasons for our family joining this gym was the fact they had two heavy bags for boxing. Both my stepdaughter and I box, so it was a great influence to join. Now however, both heavy bags are broken and we were told they do not plan on replacing them. There are empty water bottles all around the gym. Teenagers sit on equipment playing on their phones while people wait to use machines. Management doesn't seem to care because all of this has been brought to their attention with no resolve. What they don't tell you before you sign an 18 month contract is that they can't be asked to do their job. So please think carefully before signing up here I will update my review if at any point they decide to take their gym seriously, however I'm not holding my breath. We will not be renewing our membership.

Positive experience: It's a relatively good place. However, there are not a lot of gym and jacuzzi facilities if you want to take your child under 15 years. Also the kids pool is very dirty, the water is not even transparent, but milky. Plenty of dirt particles on the bottom. The family changing room has no swim suit dryer anymore and smells with urine, also very hot water in the showers for the children in summer. Often weight machines are out of use and no kids machines left in the family area. Disappointed . Especially due to the fact that we are bound by the contract and not enough facilities for children. Very sad.

Positive experience: Clean and inviting but for what it is, I think it’s a bit expensive. Me and my partner wanted to do cardio so we bought two day passes which cost £30 between us.

Massive gym area with classes included in membership and 2 squash courts. All ver simple to book on the app. Kitchen with meals and smoothies also available.

Fantastic experience: We have just visited for a taster session. The staff Beth & Claudia were both exceptionally friendly, helpful and informative. The gym has 3 parts a family section, ladies only & main gym with plenty of choice. It is nice & bright and very clean. The pool area is lovely too with 3 pools, lane pool, kids pool & hydrotherapy relax pool. There is a steam & sauna room too. We decided to join! Looking forward to our next visit.

Negative experience: Tried to join the gym on a no contract option which they offer at a premium of almost 50% per month and was told an additional £20 joining fee was required? I left without joining and decided to email the customer care to ask what the joining fee bought me it was it just money for nothing? Told them I would join on the no contract option if they could either explain or waiver the joining fee particularly as there was no joining fee if I took the contract! The company didn't even bother to reply !!!! If they have explained to my satisfaction the reason for this fee in particular as I was a returning member or waiver the fee I would have reinstated my membership! Instead I have joined elsewhere and Total Fitness have lost Mr as a member over £20 ! There are so many gyms out there in my mind joining fees for which you receive nothing in return are a thing of the past !

Fantastic experience: I joined a few weeks ago now, I'm disabled and they cater for me and allow my carer to use the facilities next to me at a very low cost when other gyms (Bannatynes) were quite rude about me having a carer. Really friendly staff and love the 3 pool choice. Really enjoying going My only downside so far is lack of and mis-use of disabled parking spaces

Fantastic experience: Great. Clean and tidy. Good sized car park and changing rooms. Mens changing room up stairs towards gym on entering then down to right. Same layout as the Chester gym but without the views from the poolside/spa. Spa jets also on buttons like most of the other branches unlike Chester timed delay only. Nice open airy kind of feel again simlar to Chester.

Positive experience: Total Fitness, Wigan provides a wide range of fitness machines and a large free weight area. Personal trainers are always available for informal chats on training advice. There are 3 pools, the smaller pool is ideal for aqua calisthenics, a larger main pool with lane swimming and a therapy pool with water massage and Jacuzzi features. In the main pool area there's a Sauna, Steam room and a cooler Sanarium room. The changing rooms are clean with lockers that require a padlock to secure and to top it off they provide free hairdryers. After your workout there is a small coffee shop offering hot and cold drinks along with a small snack selection. The car parking always has plenty of free spaces.

Fantastic experience: I have just had my session with my personal trainer Carol & Said hello to Suzie who looked after me at first. I am so glad I joined Ive had 2 strokes & I feel so safe and cared for since joining my walking is much inproved my balance is much better I cant thank them enough the PT & all the staff at Total Fitness really know their stuff. I can stand for longer & walk for longer. I wish more people would join they give you so much support I for one cant Thank them enough they are Awesome

Positive experience: The only bad thing i can say about this place because it is absolutely fantastic is that if you have long hair and you've been in pool the hair dryers are not strong enough to dry it so i have to go home with wet hair ,its not so bad if its summer but in the winter its bad

Fantastic experience: Love this health club. Staff a really friend and there are no long waits to get on the equipment. Very clean and tidy. Pool area is lovely and clean along with hydro pool steam room and sauna. Changing rooms and showers are clean and tidy. Would love them to get a ski machine to complete my pre existing cardio workout. It may be more expensive than some of the gyms in wigan, but would recommend this above all others with the added bonus of the pool. Any chance you can extend the boxing area UPDATE cleanliness has gone down hill, maintenance of equipment non existent. Spoke to staff who seem less than interested that the smiths machine was damaged and could cause serious injury. Cannot wait for contract to end for the price you pay this health club should be on top of.maintenance and cleanliness. Would not recommend

Negative experience: Absoute joke this place. I use to be a member before moving away from Wigan. I have now moved back and called to join again only to be told that they now refuse cash payments. Total fitness had continued to take money from my account for 9 months after I left last time and only refund 3 of those months even though I had given it in writing like they insisted. This is why I don't want to give them my bank details again. For that reason I called head office and there attitude was its my problem there is nothing they can do to resolve this. To me it seems they can afford to loose custom because they ignore members when they choose to leave and continue to charge them. Its a shame because the staff are lovely and the pool is grate. However they have refused my money so I shall go elts where. The high management of the company should be replaced in my opion if this is now the way they treat someone who was will to hand over £484.
