Barbell Lounge - #1 Premium Boutique Gym in Maidenhead // Gym & Coffee

Negative experience: *SCAM* Tried the facility for a month in June 2024, great equipment but worked out too far and parking was a but of a nightmare so decided to use another gym. As such, payment should not have continued but despite arranging just 1 month's trial, I looked at my bank account this November and they have been taking money everymonth since the month trial in June I have emailed them twice to have the payment cancelled but I have heard nothing back. Now having to cancel my credit card so they can't take anymore money from me. Let alone return the money they've been taking from me each month. Be aware of this gym.

Fantastic experience: I came for a quick tour on Sunday and joined on the spot. Mike was super friendly and professional. The gym has everything you need and the layout is well-thought-out. I train 5 days a week before 9am so parking isn’t a problem. The membership price is very reasonable for a town centre location gym with the high-spec kit they have. As a powerlifter this gym is heaven. My only regret is not ditching my old gym for Barbell Lounge sooner.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing gym! went for the first time today after struggling to find a gym that works for me - all the staff were super helpful and provided an environment where you can ease yourself into it without the worry of being overwhelmed, any questions were answered, Danielle and Jill were lifesavers when showing me how to use the machines - I ended up doing the most exercise I’ve done in two years! They make fantastic coffee and have a great range of protein shakes in lots of different flavours too! Thank you barbell lounge I will be back :))

Fantastic experience: This is a fantastic gym with a great team! Everyone is friendly & welcoming & they’re always on hand to offer guidance & support. There is a real community feel about this gym, it’s got a serious level of equipment & literally tons of quality Rogue Calibrated plates. Not many gyms have Prime equipment, this has several pieces! You can work from the lounge area whilst having a coffee, get your training done, then finish your work day without needing to leave the gym. You could even pop in on a rest day for a coffee or the freshly made protein shakes! I’ve read the 1 star reviews & can only deduce that they must be fake. Mike & the Team are always so welcoming & friendly. They are really proud of the gym & the community they have set up… And so they should be!

Fantastic experience: Great equipment powerlifting and weight lifting specific. Very clean and tidy environment. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. The gym is stacked with weights so you are never searching around for weights there’s a full stack of varying weights in each corner of the gym. They have recently invested a lot of money into new equipment. Including a specific area for recovery, great idea guys. If you are in the area and serious about gym this is genuinely the gym for you.

Fantastic experience: Having come from a commercial gym, Barbell Lounge does it all better if you're looking for a high quality powerlifting / bodybuilding gym. Mike and his team have fostered a really great culture where you feel welcome amongst all the other members and can make some serious progress with the high quality kit

Fantastic experience: I very much enjoyed my visit to the Barbell Lounge, as I had seen advertisements for it on Instagram. I loved that they have Rogue equipment with calibrated bars and plates, not to mention the combo racks they had. Although I didn't deadlift, the platforms looked good to use. However, the one at the back near the dumbbell area seemed rather slippery when I walked over it. The machines were smooth and nice to use. I think the only downside was the rather pricey trial pass (£20). However, the free protein shake helped make the cost a little more worthwhile. This gym certainly seems like the place to be, with a great community atmosphere. If it were local to me, I think this would be my everyday gym. Please add a day pass to your list of memberships

Fantastic experience: I have been a society member since December 2023. I am also a trainer, and I found that I needed somewhere other than my workplace to train for me, which I can safely say Barbell Lounge hits the mark! Incredible atmosphere and community, top tier equipment which is well maintained by the awesome team running the show! Enables me to train on comp standard kit in prep for a big deadlift later this year. Would highly recommend and well worth the money!

Fantastic experience: This place is a 10/10 gym and I recommend it to anyone with any sort of fitness goal. Its so unique in its lay out and the atmosphere was so welcoming the staff were brilliant. I love the equipment they have as all of its top class and has everything you need. I loved the aspect of a powerlifting section and a bodybuilding section. And please do not be put off from the equipment if you don’t understand this gym caters for all people and all fitness goals Best gym I have ever been to 10/10

Negative experience: Visited the gym recently and tbh I was really let down. The kit was poor and it was cramped. I honestly felt like I was in a playground. The owner and staff are also rude and this can be shown by the fact they call every bad review fake. You know some people use different names on google than the one they sign up with right?

Fantastic experience: We have been to the gym several times and have always found it a really positive experience. The staff we met are knowledgeable and friendly. Ignore the fake negative reviews and go see for yourselves.

Fantastic experience: Barbell Lounge is a fantastic gym, the equipment is top tier and all the staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable within the field. The sense of community is unmatched and it is inspiring to see an owner who cares so much about his business and users, I would highly urge everyone to get a membership!

Fantastic experience: I've been training at Barbell Lounge for a few months now and I love the positive atmosphere. Especially evident after speaking to the owner and seeing how passionate he was about making a positive presence across the gym community. The facilities are top tier and the staff and PTs are fantastic.

Negative experience: Unhelpful Staff: The staff at Barbell lounge seem disinterested and unapproachable. Whether it’s asking for help with equipment, or needing assistance with membership issues, their responses are curt and unhelpful. Customer service is clearly not a priority here, and it shows in their lack of willingness to assist members.

Negative experience: The owner made some very inappropriate comments about me and was extremely rude, definitely do not recommend if someone just wants to workout in a safe environment

Negative experience: If I could give this place a 0 out of 5 I would, owner was obscenely rude and made me and my friend feel very uncomfortable inside of the gym to impress his employees.

Negative experience: Was in the area for the day thought I’d go check it out bought a day pass, staff were terrible especially owner Mike who was rude and inappropriate at times, gym was not that good machines were terrible.

Fantastic experience: I've been a gym member at Barbell Lounge for a few months, and I can testify that this is top gym. The best part is the community they have built, with a clear demographic and regular gym users. Everyone seems very supportive and friendly in the gym. The equipment is excellent, with a range of bodybuilding machines, custom free weights, squat racks, benches, deadlift platforms, and even a small dedicated posing area. The staff are welcoming, and the changing rooms are always kept clean. The lounge element of the gym is a unique concept, with a tv and sofa setup to chill after a session. I look forward to more member community events.

Fantastic experience: Love the gym. Great vibe and really cool interior design. The difference in kit compared to commercial gyms is unmatched. My quality in training has increased dramatically, I struggle to go back to public gyms. The hardworking team there always maintain a high standard throughout the lounge and gym! Would definitely recommend to anyone who is invested in their training.

Fantastic experience: I joined a few weeks ago having been a member of PureGym for the past 18 months. Going from £13.99 a month to £60, I was a little uneasy about it as I wasn't sure what more i'd get for my money, but that eased up pretty quick as this is an environment that seems to push you to do more, almost unknowingly, so the gains I have seen already are awesome. The equipment is fantastic and the staff are super friendly. The dumbbells are just top notch and the lighting is superb. The best thing is the vibe, the atmosphere in the gym seems to bring the most out of everyone and the cereal milk protein shake is amazing. I do not regret joining one bit.

Fantastic experience: This place is just fantastic. The lounge area when you first walk in is just so useful. I can get a pre or post work out drink. My son loves the milkshakes on offer and is happy to chill and do the puzzles that are provided by the gym and the free WiFi let's me do homework with him. The equipment is some of the best if ever seen. And the staff are super helpful and knowledgeable. Not only them, the other members I've met have all been friendly and more than willing to help. I definitely recommend joining this gym.

Fantastic experience: Castle, Maximums, Gallery - the old school gyms from 'back in the day' Barbell Lounge takes me back to these places - you can go there and train hard with proper kit surrounded by like minded people - not like your big chain gyms which leave me numb. If you want to train properly go check them out.

Fantastic experience: Trained here for the first time today and I confess… This is easily the best gym I’ve come across in Maidenhead!! Big shoutout to Max and Mike (the owner), they were very friendly and answered all my questions about the gym. Mike is extremely knowledgeable with the kit, he has put in a lot of great work for the kind of equipment members would enjoy. At first I was intimidated about training here but that feeling dissipated immediately post training thanks to the welcoming environment and communal emphasis. The members are here to train, no judgement, no faffing about. “The ultimate playground for Bodybuilding & Powerlifting” is exemplified through the kit they have, which is top class. A variety of plate loaded kit from brands such as Prime Fitness, Atlantis, Watson, Arsenal Strength, Hammer Strength Nautilus etc. Also, they have a chest supported T-Bar row as well as multiple options for a leg day including a hack, pendulum, belt and a squat pro. This is a dream come true for anyone with a passion for training and wanting to try out never before used kit. Other things to note, they have a powerlifting section downstairs which is amazing for powerlifters with different barbells, calibrated plates, competition collars etc. Free weights and cables with dbs going up to 60kg. The lounge area is a nice touch, comes with a work space, a gaming area as well as beverages and pre/intra/post available or if you want to have a chat with staff. Other than that, huge thanks to the staff at Barbell Lounge for creating a memorable experience, I definitely am going to keep coming back for more sessions in the future

Fantastic experience: The best gym in Maidenhead! I’ve tried all the commercial gyms in Maidenhead and it’s just wasn’t it. Once I’ve stepped into Barbell Lounge, I knew I finally found my place to train! And I will never go back to commercial gym lol. The kit is top notch, very clean, love the lighting, the owner (Mike) is very approachable and knowledgeable and just the whole experience is amazing, really recommend it!

Fantastic experience: Id been looking for a proper powerlifting gym since I moved to the area few years ago and then heard barbell lounge was opening! I’ve been a member now since it opened and it’s miles apart from regular gyms. You’ve got all the kit you could want, capped membership so it’s never too busy! AND helpful nice people around to chat to, get advice from or just break PB’s with! The coffee lounge and workspace is such a great touch too!

Fantastic experience: It's still early days, but I am absolutely loving this place so far! I am not a powerlifter or anything and was worried it might be intimidating but it's so friendly and feels much more community spirited than other gyms. The coffee is also delicious too, and they have protein shakes and cereal too.
