Fantastic experience: Sabina’s Zumba classes are the best thing about this gym - and the only reason I joined! Sad to see PG now taking the classes away without warning / communication / replying to customer feedback…5 stars for Sabina but 0 stars for PG management!

Fantastic experience: I mainly go to pure gum for the Zumba classes with Sabina. When I’ve lacked motivation in all other aspects of the gym I will always go to all of the Zumba classes, it’s a super fun class, with lovely people and you almost forget you’re exercising.

Fantastic experience: Zumba at PureGym with Sabina is fantastic, she makes me feel so at ease and confident. Her classes are for all abilities and just so much fun, it doesn’t feel like you’re exercising at all.

Negative experience: I’m really surprised no one mentioned how horribly hot this gym is! It makes for a miserable workout in the summer. The setup with the open doors to the outside is nonsensical and makes for really inefficient climate control, not that I’ve ever noticed an attempt to run air con. I tried it for a few months over the summer because the location is convenient and I like the free parking, but I couldn’t do speed work on the treadmills; it was miserable. The cardio floor also crazy uneven—huge incline— so I’m not entirely sure it’s safe to run daily on those treadmills. I’ve gone back to my community gym, which at least isn’t too mean to run some air con in the summer. I pay less at my community gym too, despite this pretending it’s a “budget” gym.

Negative experience: I've been a member nearly a year and today was the day I think ill be going elsewhere a couple with a tri pod and cameras and gym equipment missing I'm guessing is getting stolen most of the cable machines haven't got barracuda clips on so are useless it's a shame really

Fantastic experience: Good gym, got everything you expect from a “budget gym”, free parking for up to 4 hours which is good because some of the gyms are only 2 hours. Changing room was the smallest Pure Gym changing room I’ve seen with only one toilet cubicle in the toilet. But nice studio, open area downstairs, plenty of squat racks and weights, and it’s kept tidy and organised. Happy to return in the future

Negative experience: Lovely staff, good equipment. BUT 2 stars are because the showers smell really really bad (like sewer), in fact there might even be sewage coming up from the drains, and only a matter of time until someone gets sick. Wish they'd sort it out because otherwise it's a great place to work out.

Fantastic experience: I joined as a friend pass x1 day a week but now extended to full membership. I mainly attend the Zumba sessions with Sabina! It’s the highlight of my week! She brings so much fun , positivity and energy to every class! It’s great for burning cals, coordination and self esteem! I always leave feeling sweaty, energised, positive, happy and more confident after a tiring day! I can’t recommend her sessions enough! Other staff are really friendly too. Plenty of classes to join. Easy booking system and I like the relaxed atmosphere which is reassuring for new gym members!

Fantastic experience: This gym is ideal. Plenty of machines, classes and PTs. Only downside is that it is a very popular gym so gets very busy at peak times. Doesn’t cause too much of an issue if you know how to get creative with your workout programme! Great environment to work out in too, I always feel super comfortable which is very important.

Negative experience: 1 toilet in the whole gym which was blocked, no staff on Sundays to sort it out. Severe lack of washing and toilet facilities.

Positive experience: Lots of equipment, 24 hour access, no punch bags, unfortunately.

Negative experience: Cancelled a membership and didn’t get a confirmation email, didn’t get charged for the month that I cancelled the membership in but a month later I was charged the monthly amount with no warning or reason

Positive experience: It's a good gym, the size of the building is a little restrictive but it is great to have a gym this close to work and home

Fantastic experience: Zumba with Sabina is may favourite thing about this gym. She does Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. I wish she did Tuesdays too!

Positive experience: The gym equipment, being a few months old is good, it’s not too busy if you pick your time (ie you don’t work normal hours) and the vibe is relaxed and friendly when I go in the day. You see people doing all sorts of workouts which I like. The facilities however are dire. There’s dirt everywhere because many people wear filthy outdoor shoes to train and leave muddy footprints on the floor, the kit, even mats. The changing rooms are very cramped and stink (I mean that really acrid ammonia stink) because the urinals, despite not being the waterless type are not connected to the water and don’t flush. I pointed this out to staff and they said ‘it’s not as bad as the gym where I used to work’. I can’t believe they trained for that but here’s a great example of getting what you pay for. There’s a hole in the wall of the changing room with plaster falling out. They could do better but there’s a real feeling of cutting the margins. I often see cleaners but it never feels clean. You frequently get a feedback questionnaire but nothing changes suggesting this state is acceptable to the organisation. It could be great… but it isn’t. Update- I implied this is all acceptable to PureGym. They responded saying they’d get onto fixing the issues. One month later, the urinals still stink and the hole is twice as big.

Fantastic experience: Really happy with my decision to join this gym. Thursday night zumba and bodytone classes are great, & overall the facilities are good. All of the team members welcoming and encouraging. Special thanks to Sabina and Matt who make exercising fun and inclusive. My only negative would be that there aren't enough bikes, and that it can get really busy and hot at times. Nothing a bit of flexibilty in your schedule and a cold bottle of water wouldnt fix. I would reccomend this gym and classes to anyone local.

Fantastic experience: It has all you need in the gym and a great choice of classes. convenient location, and good App to make bookings. I moved from Shrewsbury Club as PureGym offer 3 Zumba classes per week with Sabina, who is the most amazing, fun, body positive and energetic Zumba instructor. I try and go at least x2 per week. Classes are on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at really good times. All different choreography. I love them all, but my favourite is a Thursday!

Negative experience: The cycle machine (legs out on front style) seemed too small. Okay, I'm 6' 2 but still. My knees only just weren't hitting the handles and my feet only just got in the straps. I was hoping for a light session, so would mainly use machines...I thought. Nope, no bench press, no shoulder press, no curls, no tricep extensions. No problem, is use dumbbells. Then, the dumbbell rack seemed very thin to the point I didn't get the 22kg dumbbell one it quite right and crushed my finger. Yes, human error, but in many years at other PureGym's this hasn't been an issue.

Fantastic experience: Equipment quality is good and well maintained. However, i am not a professional weight lifter / body builder. Gym suits my needs to keep myself fit and healthy. Opened 24/7 and is usually not very busy around 22:00 which suits me.

Negative experience: I've cancelled my membership here after the first month, I gave it a few weeks thinking it's new, equipment etc will get better.. but it hasn't.. I just have to echo what previous reviews have said. The gym is ridiculously hot.. I know it's a gym and people sweat, but the amount of times I've come to use a bench and someones left a sweaty headprint on there.. there's no paper or sprays provided to clean after after yourself.. I've had to leave mid workout numerous times because of the heat in there. I don't know where they've got the PTs from.. I've heard so much b******t come from them whilst training newbies.. I was on a machine today, mid workout, between sets.. and the PT came up, took my plates off and put them on their machine, had to get up and go get them, her response sorry we're you using that.. oh no I was just sat there enjoying the view.. ridiculous. All PTS look either 15 or in their 50s.. The equipment choice is abysmal, I've lived around the world and it's one of the worst selection of machines I've seen. After 8pm just seems to be teenagers in there hanging around not actually doing anything, just taking up what little equipment there is. It's only been open a month and I swear the vending machines been broken 3 times, machines with out of order signs and already had workmen in fixing the lift. Like previous reviews, no straight cable attachments, the most basic thing for cables.. I'm so glad I've cancelled, I'd rather drive to the other side of Shrewsbury for a decent gym at the same price.

Negative experience: Very disappointed with this gym.. I could write paragraphs about all the problems.. But to sum it up.. Way too hot. Only 2 plate loaded machines. Only 1 lat pull-down attachment. No straight bar cable attachments. Changing rooms an utter joke, my bathroom at home has more space. Full of kids in the evenings just pissing about in there, were throwing medicine balls at each other the other night. I was watching one of the "PT's" train someone the other day and almost had to step in and say something, everything being shown was wrong. Awful selection of machines. 1 E-Z bar. They were playing Barbie girl on the radio then some relaxed lounge kind of music, horrible atmosphere in there.. or no atmosphere should I say. If you're into weight lifting, don't go to this gym.. Plenty of better options in Shrewsbury.

Positive experience: First impressions.... At the moment it is far too warm in there, there are no 'plate stations' where you can obtain plates for a lot of the stations, you have to pinch them from the Smith machines etc, landline/grappler needs to be bolted down so it can be used. Otherwise not too bad so far. Hopefully it won't get too busy otherwise it will be difficult to follow a routine due to lack of duplicate machines/stations, but that's down to the space available.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym clean and all to myself music just a bit loud for just one person tho...

Negative experience: I had to leave mid workout today as the heat was a joke. At first I thought maybe just me, but a few friends have said the same and I've seen similar in other reviews. There's no Aircon or any air blowing anywhere in this gym.. I have never sweat so much in a gym before. Whoever designed the layout of this place needs firing as it's awful.. such a waste of space. When compared to any other gym in Shrewsbury, the machine choice is woeful.. Luke others have said the utter faff of putting your pin in, in the dark outside.. to then have to scan again then again when you leave If nothing changes I'll be moving to JD at the end of my first month.

Fantastic experience: I am loving my membership. The staff are so much fun and helpful. The gym is so friendly and social and the classes absolutely brilliant. The instructors are down to Earth, fun, helpful and get you working hard. They are full of motivation and yes there are a few teething issues but the staff are more than aware and working to resolution. Overall it’s friendly, welcoming and gets you fit - what more do you need from a gym!

Negative experience: PureGym have, unsurprisingly and disappointingly, underestimated what looks like a little country town on a map and decided to open Meole Brace as a small format, poorly equipped gym (bags of space wasted downstairs, too) - and barely a duplicate machine where it matters. The changing rooms are small, and the after-hours arrangement is awkward - having to input a PIN to get through the front door, and then for some reason they have put totally insecure entry barriers rather than the usual pods (which I believe is rendering the air con useless because there is no protection from the front which heats up that would come from pods if there were any). After two visits, I realised it wasn't for me. Given this, I decided to exercise my right to terminate under their 14-day cooling off period, however they claim this is from the point at which you signed up during the pre-sale (pre-opening), not since opening its doors, so not a penny back. That's a loose definition of a cool off period, so I'll see what my bank says. If you open a rubbish gym, expect it to fail - especially when JD just went 24 hours.

The equipment is really nice, brand new and of a good quality. Also its great value. Introductory 12.99 a month is worth it regardless. However the place seems small. The downstairs area is okay. But the upstairs where the resistance machines are feels small and cramped. Doesn't take many people before it's very crowded up there. Its also right next to the studio where they do classes. The music and the instructor giving instructions in the studio is so loud its deafening. Which I'm sure is great when you are doing a class but those of us using the resistance machines can't hear ourselves think. I moved from JD to this gym as the location is much better for me. There is nothing I can find in puregym thats better than JD other than the location. The changing rooms also feel very small. So far I've been at 10am and 9am this week and the place was reasonably busy. Had to wait to get on some equipment. I can't see me ever going in the evening (5-7ish) as it will be way too busy. The app does tell you how many people are in the gym however this morning the app was saying 12 people and I could count at least 25 including people doing the class.
